Soros Advising Obama On Destroying Jewish Homes In Judea & Samaria

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

If you needed another reason to support the “settlements”, I just found it.  George Soros (Obama’s “Rove”) is clandestinely working overtime to destroy them!

The Soros created International Crisis Group (ICG), a think tank staffed with people such as anti-Israel Samantha Power who once called for a US invasion of Israel to impose a solution to the Palestinian issue (and since moved into the administration), Zbigniew (the Jews are the Problem with the world) Brzezinski and Robert Malley. Recently the ICG has issued a report to assist President Obama craft his policy on how to most effectivly destroy Israeli “settlements”.  Soros’ classless organization even went as far as sneaking into Israeli Synagogues, and dressing up as religious people to spy on the Jews there.

Soros, who was a major contributor to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign and who is vehemently opposed to the “Israel lobby” in the United States, is a member of the Crisis Group’s executive committee.

After conducting extensive research in Israel, including dozens of interviews with Jewish leaders, senior and junior officials, rabbis, military men, residents of Judea and Samaria and many others, the group’s analysts concluded that the government needs to “rein in” the “settlerment enterprise” and stop showing “lenience toward anti-Palestinian violence or hateful incitement, especially with a religious content.”

However, they also note that Israel’s religious right has “deep roots,” and that “even its most militant expression cannot be dealt with exclusively through confrontation.”

Advocating what some may see as a divide-and-rule approach to the religious Zionists, the report’s authors believe that the religious right’s opposition to further Israeli pullouts can be minimized if an agreement reached between Israel and Arabs marks exactly where the border between Israel and the PA will pass, thus making it clear which communities can keep on growing and which are on the chopping block.

The report also warns of a drift by ultra-orthodox Jews towards nationalistic positions, and recommends that the United States and other “foreign actors” attempt to woo ultra-Orthodox parties like Shas and United Torah Judaism by involving them in the diplomatic process.

I guess President Obama’s policy of “not interfering in other Countrie’s internal affairs” (see: Iran) does not apply to working up an active policy of weakening Israel.

(*UPDATE: 2:15 p.m. PST by WrathofG-d):  It probably won’t surprise anyone, but ICG is hardly “unbiased” and actually presents itself to the Arab-Israel conflict having already accepted the Arab narrative, and arguments as fact regarding “settlements”, Israel’s security, Jerusalem, giving land to Syria, creating a “Palestinian State”, and appeasing Lebanon.

1. Crisis Group’s Middle East Initiative

On 22 September 2006, the International Crisis Group launched a new global advocacy initiative designed to generate new political momentum for a comprehensive settlement of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Major funding support for the project — to cost around US$400,000 in its first year — was announced at the Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York.

Crisis Group’s Initiative was designed to help fill the present policy vacuum, stem the slide toward greater instability, and provide a viable alternative for moderates in the region on both the Israeli and Arab sides. The goal, or political horizon, must be unambiguously stated as security and full recognition to the state of Israel within internationally recognised borders — along with an end to the occupation for the Palestinian people in an independent, sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital, recovery of lost land to Syria, and a fully sovereign and secure Lebanese state.

Further details of Crisis Group’s Middle East Initiative, including the full text of the document and list of signatories, can be found on our Middle East Initiative page.

Obama’s Creeping Government Control: Credit Cards

Last Wednesday, President Obama once again abused the power of Government to dictate to private individuals on how they can do business.  This time it was to credit card companies.

Unsurprising, the main stream media is hailing this horrible infringement on an individual’s liberty as a huge reform to protect the consumer.

Banks say the changes may cut the flow of credit to consumers because it will make it more difficult for issuers to set rates based on the risk their customers pose.

“With this bill we are putting in place some common sense reforms designed to protect consumers,” Obama said at a signing ceremony at the White House.

“We’re not going to be giving people a free pass and we expect consumers to live within their means and pay what they owe. But we also expect financial institutions to act with the same sense of responsibility that the American people aspire to in their own lives,” he said.

Enactment marks the crest of a backlash against the card industry after years of rate and fee hikes and aggressive marketing programs that have angered consumers, analysts said.

The law largely codifies a set of rules issued by the Federal Reserve last year and puts them into effect in February 2010, five months sooner than the Fed had planned.

It also represents the first major financial regulation reform completed by Obama as he tackles a rewrite of the rules of banking and the markets to better protect consumers and investors, and prevent another credit crisis.

AOL adds the following:

The White House staged a signing ceremony in the Rose Garden, an indication of the legislation’s importance to Obama. Though opposed by many financial companies, the bill cleared Congress with broad support.
Obama made clear that he didn’t champion the changes with the intention of helping those who buy more than they can afford through “reckless spending or wishful thinking.”
“Some get in over their heads by not using their heads,” the president said. “I want to be clear: We do not excuse or condone folks who’ve acted irresponsibly.”
And yet, he said, for many of the millions of Americans who use credit cards and carry a balance, trying to get out of debt has been made difficult and bewildering by their credit card companies.
Obama said many “got trapped” because of the downturn in the economy that has turned family budgets on their heads. But, he said, “part of it is the practices of the credit card companies.”
He criticized policies that allowed for confusing fine print; the sudden appearance of unexplained fees on bills; unannounced shifts in payment deadlines, interest charges or rate increases even when payments aren’t late; and payments directed to balances with the lowest interest rates rather than the highest.
“We’re here to put a change to all that,” Obama said.
“So we’re not going to give people a free pass, and we expect consumers to live within their means and pay what they owe,” Obama said. “But we also expect financial institutions to act with the same sense of responsibility that the American people aspire to in their own lives.”
Obama decried the “uneasy, unstable dependence” that a minority of card users have on credit.
_______________________________
Credit card contracts can be confusing, and paying off debt is exceptionally difficult.  However, Government intervention isn’t the answer.  Despite the tone of President Obama’s comments, no one forced any of these consumers to get credit cards (especially if they didn’t understand their contract), or live beyond their means.

Additionally no one got “trapped”.  Every credit card was sold to an individual over the age of eighteen, and thus only to adults.  If they are wise enough at eighteen to get an abortion (although they don’t need to be 18 to do that),  join the U.S. armed forces, and VOTE then they are wise enough to decide what sort of deal to make with a private credit card company, or not to make one at all.

This is just another example of an Administration with a nanny-state mentality, overreaching with the powers of the Federal Government to gain control of another industry and eliminate any sort of individual responsibility.  The Government will be making this decision for you now.

Although every individual instance might not by itself  be a tragedy, this is all part of a larger trend.  This constant slide away from personal liberty should be cause for alarm; not praise.  Although it might seem like a helpful intervention now, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and the path to political slavery with precedent created for the “common good”.

What is the list of Government controlled private industries at this point?  It is great to see that this Administration isn’t wasting this “good [financial] crisis”. (sarc!)

Obama Increases Governmental Power With Energy

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

It has famously been said that hell is paved with good intentions.  This is hardly more true then when speaking about Government.

All shaving away at ones personal liberty is usually done for the nebulous purpose of “public safety”, or “social good.”  It is a skill that is becoming evidently clear President Obama has mastered.  We might not realize it until it is too late, but we are trading our personal liberty for today’s equivalent of political snake oil.

Accidentally, the article below explains exactly how the Government does it right under our noses.

President Obama on Tuesday announced a new policy that for the first time merges fuel-efficiency standards for vehicles with limits on tailpipe pollutants, an effort to unify regulations that will greatly influence how the country’s beleaguered automakers design vehicles.

“This is an historic agreement to help America break its dependency on oil,” Mr. Obama said outside the White House, in the Rose Garden.

The new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standard will begin in model year 2012.  Automakers will be required to have a fleet average of 35.5 miles a gallon by 2016 — four years earlier than Congress mandated in 2007.  By that date, the administration also will require tailpipe emissions to be reduced by 30 percent. Vehicles in the 2020 model year must have a fuel efficiency of 35 miles a gallon.

The policy will be the equivalent of taking 58 million cars off the road for a year, Mr. Obama said.

The new regulations will likely add at least $600 to the cost of building a vehicle and cost buyers at least $1,000 more. However, consumers will recover the increase in three years from buying less gasoline, the president said.

Automakers have historically fought mileage and emission standards, arguing the technology is still being developed, too costly and that market forces should drive major changes.

But the playing field has changed dramatically recently, with Chrysler LLC in bankruptcy and both it and General Motors Corp. tapping federal money to keep afloat.

While Congress has determined national CAFE standards since they began in the 1970s, the new standard would not require congressional approval because it is coming as a joint rule from the EPA and the Transportation Department .

The policy marrying the fuel and tailpipe standards was made possible by a 2007 Supreme Court decision ordering the EPA to determine whether carbon dioxide from car exhaust is a pollutant and a public-health threat. The EPA issued a draft finding to that effect last month, but has yet to issue rules to counter that threat by curbing carbon-dioxide emissions.

Environmentalists hailed the announcement from the president, who has moved fast to reverse Bush-era environmental policies and put proposed regulations that the previous White House had held on a fast track to approval.

“President Obama is putting the pedal to the floor when it comes to slashing our dependence on oil and confronting global warming,” Sierra Club President Carl Pope said.

“Last month, the administration closed the books on the Bush era of climate denial once and for all by acknowledging the threat of global warming, and now today they are moving forward with a plan that will give new life to the American auto industry and ensure that the next generation of clean, efficient autos will be made right here in the USA,” he said.
