Israel Matzav and Artists 4 Israel have the scoop on the underlying story of the Manhattan JCC supporting a film festival, and Shabbat dinner, that promotes blood libels against Israel. (The Shabbat dinner is sponsoring Mohammed Bakri as a speaker – he was the filmmaker behind Jenin, Jenin, which claimed Israel committed a genocide in Jenin. He was later sued for libel by soldiers, and admit he lied in his ‘documentary.’)

I was scanning over the JCC’s “Other Israel Film Festival” web page today, and found another juicy little “nugget” of information.

In addition to the “Other Israel Film Festival” being co-founded by Mohammed Bakri, who was the filmmaker behind the blood libel, Jenin, Jenin, our old friend Hamid Dabashi is also supportive of this festival.

That is right – Hamid Dabashi. He is the known bigot who is a cheerleader for both Hamas and the Iranian regime. Source, source, and source. He has made his career openly supporting a regime (Iran) and fake-regime (Hamas) that brutalizes their own people.

This is what we are up against.

The JCC is allying itself with the Iranian regime (via Dabashi), propagandists for Jihad (Bakri), and J Street. (no real difference between the three at this point)

On the plus side, I now understand why J Street opposed the Toronto Film Festival’s attempted boycott of Israeli films! Carole Zabar (of the Zabar’s food store fame), founder of this “film festival,” explained that she opposed the Toronto Film Festival’s boycott because she believes it is better to show anti-Israel Israeli-made films!

This all makes sense now! Rather than boycott the Israeli film industry, it is apparent that the Manhattan JCC, and J Street, support the Israeli film industry…which they see as a vehicle for their version of anti-Israeli activism! Recall that one of the claims J Street makes about it being “pro-Israel” is that they were against the Toronto Film Festival’s boycott. They are doing all this while claiming to be “pro-Israel.” (pro-Israeli surrender, but in their eyes, that might be considered “pro-Israel”)

I find it shocking, how these progressives are twisting reality into such a cartoonish caricature.

The other positive I can say is that I now see the money train from Zabar’s to Jihad-supporting activities. I never would have imagined that Zabar’s of all places would support such a twisted ideology, but now at least I am aware of where part of the money train is emanating from.

One point of clarification…

When I compared J Street to the Iranian regime, I did so because they are the only major Jewish organization to oppose sanctioning the regime, and they invited a paid lobbyist for the Iranian regime (Trita Parsi) to speak at their Annual Gala. They also invited Salam al-Marayati (who has repeatedly linked himself with terror groups), Palestinian Authority representatives, and many other supporters of terrorism.

J Street was also the only major Jewish organization to oppose Cast Lead, support the “settlement freeze,” oppose building in Jerusalem, and not oppose the Goldstone Report.

I just wanted to clarify why I stated what I stated.

Perhaps I was being a tad overdramatic to say there is “no difference” between J Street” and the Iranian regime, but there are open connections between J Street and the Iranian regime, and clear unification of policy in many respects.

~Open Thread: Friday Afternoon Edition~

Thank G-d: once again it is Friday, and accordingly for Jews this means the beginning of the Holy Shabbat. Every week, Jews read a portion of the Torah and study it.  Highly pertinent to many on this blog, this week we are reading a highly contentious portion around some parts called Bereishit (”In the beginning”) (Genesis 1:1-6:8).

The Creation of the World, and Adventures of the First Humans

Dateline: December 1968

From his window he could watch the blue orb of planet earth getting smaller and smaller. Looming in front of him in all its detail was a giant moon.  Astronaut Frank Borman of Apollo 8 was filled with emotion, as he drew closer and closer to the fulfillment of one of man’s greatest dreams of landing on the moon. As the lunar module orbited, the crew could perceive the moon in its pristine state, untouched by human hands, exactly as it left the hands of its Creator. (One could imagine Adam opening his eyes for the first time and viewing a pristine Earth with the same awe.)

Borman wanted to convey this feeling to everyone glued to their TVs and radios, just so they could in some sense share the experience of this milestone in history. What text could express this feeling? What human poet or author could capture in words that awesome feeling of the smallness of man and the vastness of the universe?

To the ears of billions of earthlings, Borman declared, “In the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth!” The first chapter of Genesis was read on that historical day to all mankind. (In contrast to the Cosmonauts who orbited the Earth in Sputnik and proclaimed, “We went to Heaven and didn’t find God!”) This is the beginning of the story of man and his world.

Despite false claims to the contrary, Creation is deeply rooted in Torah.   The following are a few exceptionally general, and basic statements of Jews regarding Creation.

“IN THE BEGINNING” – INTRODUCTION TO THE TORAH

Judaism believes that the Bible is a Divine book. Just as a human author generally writes about topics that interest him, we can similarly assume that the Divine Author of the Torah writes about things that interest Him. Here’s a bird’s eye view of the opening chapters of the Torah:

(1) “In the beginning God created Heaven and Earth” (Genesis 1:1). What a contrast between the vast endless heaven containing countless stars, and one tiny speck in the universe called Planet Earth! Yet the following verse begins, “And the Earth was…” and the rest of the book focuses on Earth. Conclusion: God is interested in Earth!

(2) The six days of creation are described in detail. The trees and grass, the animals, fish, birds, and insects. Then was created one human. What a contrast between the vast expanse of planet Earth, and one individual person! Yet from this point on, the Torah focuses exclusively on humans (and NOT on the trees or insects). Conclusion: God is interested in humanity!

(3) After expounding upon the first human, the Torah lists 10 generations with no events recorded. These generations evidently did not interest the author and are only included for the purpose of chronology. Finally we find the passage, “and Noah was a righteous man” (Genesis 6:9), followed by an entire section concerning Noah. Conclusion: God is interested in “righteous people”!

(4) This is followed again by a list of names for chronological purposes. Another 10 generations go by, until we come to Abraham our Father. Abraham is 75 years old at the time the Torah speaks of him (more details of his youth are found in the oral tradition). From this point on, the Torah records exclusively the story of Abraham’s life and then that of his descendents – right up until the emergence of the Jewish people. The rest of the Torah recounts God’s relationship with the Jewish people. Conclusion: God is interested in the Jewish people who undertake a unique mission, to be a “light unto the nations,” to teach the world about spirituality and our Creator. (Rabbi Avigdor Miller)

” ‘That is ridiculous. Can’t you tell from the fabric and design that a weaver made this garment?’ answered the man. Rabbi Akiva then responded, ‘And you – can you not clearly tell that God made the world?’

“After the disbeliever left, Rabbi Akiva explained to his students, ‘Just as a house was obviously built by a builder and a garment obviously sewn by a tailor, so was the world (which follows a natural order) obviously made by a Creator!’ ”

U.S. Consulate In Jerusalem Exclusively Caters To The P.A.

Back in August of this year, it was noticed that the U.S. consulate in Jerusalem, instead of being a connection between the U.S., and the County it is in -Israel, was instead acting as a de facto Embassy to the Palestinian Authority (”P.A.”).

When an irate American wrote to the American Consul-General in Jerusalem on August 14 expressing outrage that the Consulate’s website “did not mention Israel, projects in Israel, the people of Israel or the modern state of Israel, but did predominantly mention the numerous projects the U.S. has with the Palestinians, he received the following response confirming that this ignoring of Israel was not on accident:

“Thank you for your feedback on the U.S. Consulate General Jerusalem’s Website. Just to clarify, the Consulate General in Jerusalem is the principal representation to the Palestinian Authority. We also provide services to American citizens in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza.

“The U.S. embassy to Israel is in Tel Aviv and is focused on the bilateral relationship with Israel. Their website is
http://usembassy-israel.org.il/. The American Center in Jerusalem also provides information about the United States to the Israeli public. Their website is http://usembassy-israel.org.il/ac/ .

“Jerusalem is a final status issue. Israel and the Palestinians have agreed to resolve its status during negotiations. We will support their efforts to reach agreements on all final status issues.”

This response from the U.S. would make sense but for one major issue that the above article points out – “the current seat of the PA government is in Ramallah” not Jerusalem; as Israel’s is. The article goes on to point out the significance of this conscious choice by the U.S.

[T]he United States government appears to already recognize the Palestinian Authority’s claim to Jerusalem.

Indeed.

We also cannot ignore the fact that at the same time, successive American governments have failed to officially recognize Israel’s declaration of the city as its capital since 1948, and although they are legally required to – per the 1995 “Jerusalem Embassy Relocation Act” – continue to refuse to move the U.S. Embassy to Israel to Israel’s Capitol -Jerusalem.

This sort of treatment of Israel by the U.S. State Department is systemic.  This past September The U.S. State Department  issued Ramadan, etc. greetings to Muslims while completely ignoring the Jewish High Holidays.

Both Jews and Muslims celebrated holidays in September 2009.  However, the United States Consulate in Jerusalem – America’s representative in Israel’s capital – chose to focus entirely on Islam this year, while ignoring the Jewish holidays of Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur completely.

The Consulate’s website features Eid il-Fitr greetings from U.S. President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Consul General Daniel Rubinstein. Its staff was involved in Ramadan celebrations in Jenin and Shechem, and hosted a meal in Jericho for the Muslim holiday of Iftar.

Clinton’s greeting was published on September 19 – the first day of Rosh HaShana. However, no mention was made of the Jewish holiday.

NBC:Rushing To The Exit!

The decline of NBC as a non-partisan broadcaster began long ago, the exact date is unknown to me. For the current era of “state run” media, NBC fought and clawed their way to the front of the line to be Øbama’s boot-lickers.

The best example, of course, was the absurdity that Chris Matthews of MSNBC bestowed on us in Feb ‘08:

I have to tell you, you know, it’s part of reporting this case, this election, the feeling most people get when they hear Barack Obama’s speech. My, I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don’t have that too often. No, seriously. It’s a dramatic event. He speaks about America in a way that has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with the feeling we have about our country. And that is an objective assessment.

Since that time, the same Chris Matthews made the following statement:

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Yeah, well, you know what? I want to do everything I can to make this thing work, this new presidency work, and I think that –

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Is that your job? You just talked about being a journalist!

MATTHEWS: Yeah, it is my job. My job is to help this country.

SCARBOROUGH: Your job is the make this presidency work?

MATTHEWS: To make this work successfully. This country needs a successful presidency.

That was then, this is now.

In the news ratings between FOX and the MSNBC news shows, the following are the latest Nielsen ratings available.

Glenn Beck vs. Chris Matthews; Sean Hannity vs. Rachel Maddow TV Ratings Through Thursday, September 24.

O’Reilly vs. Olbermann TV Ratings Through Thursday, September 24.

The numbers speak for themselves, as MSNBC is so far behind FOX in the ratings, they aren’t even trying anymore, just currying favor with the new administration. I don’t see that as business plan that will define success.

With all that, as if it weren’t enough, there is the matter of prime time NBC network shows. If it weren’t for college football, NBC wouldn’t win any time slots, but to fully illustrate the corrupt and maladaptive environment at NBC, there were two incidents on Friday, 25 Sep 09 that need mentioning.

The first was this outrageous email sent by an NBC “Dateline” producer.
“Bite Me, Jew Boy!”

Then, on Friday night, the season premiere of the series “Law and Order” added another voice to the howl of the moonbats, as evidenced in the following trailer.

Yes, that’s right, they are still pushing for the prosecution of members of the Bush administration.

They did have at least one positive review for the show, as evidenced here.

Anthony D. Romero, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union, wrote on the Huffington Post that “[w]hat McCoy understands is that in America, the rule of law applies to everyone. No one is above the law, not even (and some might say especially) the most powerful. … In real life, there has yet to be an investigation into the high-level authorization of torture, a crime that has stained the reputation of our nation at home and abroad.“

Of course, if the ACLU says our nations reputation is stained, then it must be anything but.

~Open Thread: Friday Evening “Yom Kippur” Edition~

Although this Thread is specifically about Yom Kippur, I believe the deep messages, and commitment to bettering oneself transcend Judaism, and even religion.  This Sunday at sundown until Monday at sundown is the the holiest day in the Jewish calendar; Yom Kippur.  On this day we are like angels.

There is way too much about the deep spirituality of Yom Kippur for me to get into here, but the above links are quite informative if any of you are interested.  The following are some quotes from an article I am reading in preparation of the Holyday.

Rabbi Avraham Bukspan once shared…an insight into Yom Kippur – The Day of Atonement.  “Atonement” is a conjunctive of “At One-ment” – of reconnecting, strengthening the relationship with the Almighty, the reconciliation of the Almighty with each of us. Yom Kippur is our opportunity to reunite our spiritual essence – our soul – with the Almighty.

Intuitively, each of us knows that we have a soul – that part of us which contains our conscience and drive to do the right thing.  The Torah tells us, “… and He blew into his (Adam, the first human being) nostrils the soul of life …” (Genesis 2:7). If we realize that our essence is spiritual – and eternal – it places a whole different perspective on life.  We need to be concerned about our bodies and our health and make every effort to sustain them, but the real importance is the soul, because that is our true self.  Yom Kippur is about the soul.

Throughout the year we either bring merit to the soul or sully the soul through our actions and behavior.

The Torah gives us special mitzvot, commandments, for Yom Kippur to help us see more clearly that we are souls and to help us relate to life on a soul level…These “afflictions” are ways for us to minimize the body’s control over our lives...  We are prohibited from: eating/drinking, wearing leather shoes, marital relations, anointing the skin with salves and oils, and washing for pleasure.

By negating the body, we give preeminence to the soul. Life is a constant battle – between the yetzer tov (the desire to do the right thing, which is identified with the soul) and yetzer hora (the desire to follow your desires, which corresponds with the body).  The Talmud compares the body to a horse and the soul to a rider.  It is always better to have the rider on top of the horse – to have the rider controlling the horse and not the horse controlling where the rider is going.

Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is the anniversary of the day Moshe brought down from Mount Sinai the second set of Ten Commandments.  This signified that the Almighty forgave the Jewish people for the transgression of the Golden Calf. For all times this day was decreed to be a day of forgiveness for our mistakes. However, this refers to transgressions against the Almighty. Transgressions against our fellow human being require us to correct our mistakes and seek forgiveness. If one took from another person, it is not enough to regret and ask the Almighty for forgiveness; first, one must return what was taken and ask for forgiveness from the person and then ask for forgiveness from the Almighty.

The Rambam, Maimonides, teaches that each individual’s life is always on a balance – like the old-time scales where the weights were put on one side and the produce on the other side – and that each of us should think before doing an action that this transgression or that this mitzvah (commandment) could tip the scales.

Likewise, Rambam teaches that each community, each country and ultimately the world is judged in the same manner. Thus, an individual should not only think that his transgression or fulfillment of a mitzvah tips the scale for him alone, but may very well tip the scale for all of mankind!

A simple way to keep focused that you are a soul and not a body, is to train yourself to say “My body is hungry” instead of “I am hungry”!

Open Thread: The Rosh HaShana Edition~

Today at sundown the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashana beings.  This is the first of two Jewish holidays that are commonly referred to the “High Holidays”.  Welcome to 5770!

Rosh Hashana is the Jewish New Year. Unlike the secular New Year which is celebrated in many parts of the world by partying, drinking to excess and watching a little ball descend a tower in Time Square, the Jewish New Year is celebrated by reflecting upon the past, correcting one’s mistakes, planning for the future, praying for a healthy and sweet year and celebrating with holiday meals.

Rabbi Nachum Braverman writes, “On Rosh Hashana we make an accounting of our year and we pray repeatedly for life. How do we justify another year of life? What did we do with the last year? Has it been a time of growth, of insight and of caring for others? Did we make use of our time, or did we squander it? Has it truly been a year of life, or merely one of mindless activity? This is the time for evaluation and rededication. The Jewish process is called ‘teshuva,’ coming home – recognizing our mistakes between ourselves and God as well as between ourselves and our fellow man and then correcting them.”

I like to think that the worst thing you can realize at Rosh Hashana is that you are the same person you were last year.  (ie: haven’t progressed, gotten better)

Ahmadinejad says Holocaust a Lie and Israel will not last long

Good morning my fellow Blogmocracy Netizens! It’s Friday and there is a weekend of football to look forward to! As always, I am the bearer of bad news.

The Islamo-Fascist President of Iran and Progressive icon: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has raised the stakes against Israel. He went on a diatribe mocking the Holocaust and calling for their destruction in the annual Qods (Jerusalem) parade in Iran. This clearly indicates that The IAEA report of Iran having Nuclear capabilities is true. Why is Iran clearly mocking Israel and claiming their time is running out? If you read the history of Islamic Imperialism whenever they make threats, they back it up.

TEHRAN (Reuters) – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has raised the stakes against Israel by describing the Holocaust as a lie, just as world powers are trying to decide how to deal with the nuclear ambitions of an Iran in political turmoil.

“The pretext (Holocaust) for the creation of the Zionist regime (Israel) is false … It is a lie based on an unprovable and mythical claim,” he told worshippers at Tehran University at the end of an annual anti-Israel “Qods (Jerusalem) Day” rally.

“Confronting the Zionist regime is a national and religious duty.”

Ahmadinejad’s anti-Western speeches and comments on the Holocaust have in the past caused an international outcry and isolated Iran which is at loggerheads with the West over its disputed nuclear programme.

The hardline president warned leaders of Western-allied Arab and Muslim countries about dealing with Israel.

“This regime (Israel) will not last long. Do not tie your fate to it … This regime has no future. Its life has come to an end,” he said in a speech broadcast live on state radio.

This is disturbing rhetoric that must be confronted. However the problem is with Obama being a Transnationalist Progressive, he doesn’t care. It is in the interest of Progressives to see Israel destroyed. They hate that nation and that is why back in 2005-2007, they did everything possible to prevent a strike against Iran. This was done on purpose as they view Israel as a liability in their relations with the Islamic world. Israel should be preparing for war and building underground bunkers. It is obvious that the Islamo-Fascist will launch a nuke attack to exterminate them.

My question goes out to Jews who vote for the Democrats: why do you vote for a party that wants your homeland and cousins exterminated?  See Update below.

If Israel is exterminated, I will hold the Progressives responsible for this new Holocaust. The blood of the Israelis will be on the hands of Keith Olberman, Chris Matthews, Seymour Hersh, MSNBC, GE and others in the Progressive Movement.

Isarel is alone and must rely on only God to protect them.

Update: I want to apologize to fultonchain for being offended at what I said. Although he is a Liberal, he’s not a radical Progressive and is a valued Blogmocracy Netizen. He called me out for a generalized statement I made and he was correct. I will now rephrase the question better.

My Question to Jews who vote for the Democrats is this. How can you vote for a Party that now has been taken over by George Soros and Radical Progressives, who want Israel exterminated? If you don’t agree with the Reepublicans that’s fine, but take back your Party from these Progressives! We need a sane and responsible Democratic Party in America, not this Totalitarian Neo-Fascist Entity that now rules in Washington.

Anti-Jewish ‘futball’ chants are illegal

Dutch court blocks “football chant” of “Hamas, Hamas, Jews to the gas”

Because the chant is “insulting to Jews.” No kidding, really? Even the fact that this had to be discussed is bad enough. Europe is veering close once again to tolerating the intolerable.
The Dutch High Court ruled on Tuesday that the chant ‘Hamas, Hamas, Jews to the gas’ is punishable by law because it is insulting to Jews, reports broadcaster Nos.

The case was brought before the High Court by a football supporter who had been sentenced to 80 hours community service and probation of two years by the lower court.

The man refused to accept the judgement saying the chant forms part of the culture surrounding football. ‘It is not used with the intention of insulting Jews but to provoke other supporters,’ he said in his defence…

Not used with the intention of insulting Jews? It’s just part of the culture surrounding football to chant of genocide, deal. M’k?

Obama Administration Funding Projects “Towards The Establishment of Independent Palestinian State”

Obama HeadscarfThe United States is funding a Palestinian Authority project to place non-Hebrew road signs throughout Judea and Samaria.  The PA plans to implement it in exclusively Israeli-controlled areas as well.

The project is part of American aid “towards the establishment of an independent Palestinian state,” as a top official of USAID (United States Agency for International Development) in the PA, Howard Sumka, told the Al-Hayat Arabic daily.

The project was announced by PA transportation minister Dr. Saadi Alkaranz. Correspondent Haggai Huberman reports that it is the first of its kind since Jordan lost control of the area when it attacked Israel during the 1967 Six Day War.  All roads and localities will appear in Arabic and English on the new signs; Hebrew will not appear.

Although the writing on roadsigns might sound like a non-issue, it has become a very contentious issue in the Arab/Israel conflict recently.  Not too long ago, Israeli Transportation Minister, Yisrael Katz  suggested that although all the roadsigns in Israel will continue to be in Hebrew, and Arabic (and English), they will use the Hebrew names for Israeli cities.  Thus, instead of now where the signs refer to Jerusalem as “Jerusalem” in English, “Yerusahlaim” in Hebrew, and “Al-Quds” in Arabic, they will all read “Yerusalaim” but be written in all three languages.   This caused an outpouring of all hell from the Israeli-Arabs,  and Muslim/Arab world with claims of racism, ethnic cleansing, etc.  Dispite this, the PLO/PA plan, funded by the U.S. (ie: your tax dollars) is to only use Arabic!

We also should not ignore the scope, message, and impact of this plan.  The project will effect EVERY area of Judea & Samaria, creates facts on the ground, impact the daily lives of the Arabs in Judea & Samaria, and interfere directly with Israeli sovereignty.  This is all without getting into how it is premature, and in violation of the principles, requirements we have insisted upon before such actions could be taken.  (see Road Map, Annapolis, Oslo, Camp David…)  As we all know, this hasn’t stopped the Obama administration from holding Israel to the previous agreements. (ie: removing roadblocks, giving the PLO soverignty, and “settlements”)

Hopefully it is accidental, but the Obama Administration is participating in history revisionism, racism, and ethnic cleansing.  The Obama administration seems to be making the same mistakes as the Bush administration did with the “Disengagement”, and supporting an outcome that is inherently Anti-Semitic.   By creating these “Arab only” facts on the ground, the Obama administration is wiping the historic Jewish connection to Judea & Samaria out of the history books, and supporting the forced exclusion of Jews from a future Palestine, and bolstering the Arab claim that a future Palestine shoudl be Judenrein.

About Those “Loyal” Israeli-Arabs…

Much-a-do has been made about calls by Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and other so-called “right-wing” politicians doubting the loyalty, and threat of the Israeli-Arab citizens.  Those ignorant of the reality regarding the Arab-Israeli citizens quickly label Avidor, and other like him “racist”, “nazi-like”, “nationalist”, or “ultra-right-wing”, thus allowing them to ignore any of the claims made.

It is in the following context however that individuals like Avigdor Lieberman sound the alarm.

Israeli-Arab Indicted For Hiz’b'allah To Murder IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi.

Hizbullah recruited an Israeli-Arab and ordered him to collect intelligence on IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi ahead of plans to assassinate him to avenge the death of the guerrilla group’s military leader Imad Mughniyeh.

On Monday, an indictment was filed at the Petah Tikva District Court against Rawi Sultani, a 23-year-old Israeli-Arab from the town of Tira, alleging that he was recruited by Hizbullah in the summer of 2008 when he traveled to Morocco to attend a Balad Party summer camp.

The pan-Arab summer camp takes place every year in a different country, and was also attended by other Israeli-Arabs who are Balad activists.

During his stay at the camp, Sultani allegedly met Hizbullah operative Salman Harab, and provided him with information about Ashkenazi, particularly his routine at the Kfar Saba country club where the two occasionally worked out together.

The predominantly Arab town of Tira is just north of Kfar Saba, Ashkenazi’s hometown.

Harab, a 26-year-old Lebanese Shi’ite Hizbullah operative, met personally with the group of Israeli Balad activists, introduced himself as a Hizubllah member, and gave them a lecture about the conflict and struggle against Israel, read the charge sheet.

To put a finer point on this, “Balad” is an Israeli-Arab political party that has held seats in the Israeli Knesset.  Here is their official site. (notice the colors.  Israel’s are blue & white)

Unfortunately, this is not nearly the first time an Israeli-Arab has committed outright treason against Israel.  In fact, they have a long history of it, beginning with Israel’s creation in 1948.  Some of the recent instances have been covered here by The Blogmocracy.

This is all despite the fact that Arab Israelis have full and equal rights pursuant to Israel’s Declaration of Independence, which guarantees “freedom of religion, conscience, language, education, and culture.” Since 1948, Arab Israelis have run the political and administrative affairs of Arab majority municipalities and have elected representatives to the Knesset, Israel’s parliament.

Is this just a small problem?  Hardly!  There are more than one million Arab citizens who live in Israel.  That is 1/6th of the entire population.

The sad, and scary truth about questioning the loyalty of Israeli-Arabs is that Avigdore, and other “right-wingers” like him are right – there is a very genuine reason to worry!  No amount of purposeful naivety, or wishful thinking can change this very disappointing -but real- fact!

MK Ben-Ari has a recommendation of how to help curtail these issues that is sure to get him labeled “racist” or worse:

MK Ben-Ari: Declare Balad Illegal

In a letter to Attorney General Menachem Mazuz Monday, MK Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) demanded that he declare the Balad party illegal. “Those who kept quiet during the spy activities of Bishara, and refused to declare Balad illegal then, are now witness to the development of a movement that has gone completely out of control and works from within the Knesset to destroy Israel,” the letter stated.

Sultani is being defended by his father, Fuad Sultani, who said that his son is either making the story up or is being framed. “The indictment has been blown up out of proportion for political purposes. My son was just bragging that he knows the Chief of Staff, but of course he does not know him. The defense will be examining this indictment closely,” he said.

Security officials said that it was no accident that Sultani was recruited by Hizbullah at a Balad-sponsored camp: Former Balad chairman ex-MK Azmi Bishara fled the country after the Second Lebanon War in light of allegations that he sold information to Hizbullah about IDF troop movements and the location of sensitive installations during the war. The elder Sultani also represented Bishara during several legal proceedings surrounding the former MK’s resignation from the Knesset.
