That’s not Joan Crawford—although she did have fine legs, and was a dancer before she became a more serious actress.

The American Conservative Union’s PAC arranged for a conference call with media and bloggers this evening to discuss the events of the last 48 hours. Among the participants — Matt Burns, a former spokesperson for Dede Scozzafava. From the Blogs That Hate Me file: tonight’s attack from the kooky right is that I hate America because I pointed out (thanks to simoom!) that NY-23 candidate Doug Hoffman signed one of Glenn Beck’s weird blood-brother pledge things, and one of the pledges is: “1. America is Good.”

That means I hate America. There’s no other explanation. That’s just how evil I am.

“Hollywood Party”—the film I posted the number from—is the film in which she gets into an egg fight with Laurel & Hardy.

If you want to see her in a film where she has a larger role, try and find the hilarious movie “The Half-Naked Truth” with Lee Tracy and Frank Morgan, where Tracy takes Velez, a carnival cootch-dancer, and passes her off as an escaped harem girl to get her into the Follies.

    Wow from your link:

And last question: Charles Johnson has taken a number of shots at you, among other people, over the last year and a half. Anything you want to say publicly about that?

Charles Johnson is a liar. Charles Johnson is a defamation artist. Charles Johnson is a trafficker in guilt by association.

The fact that I spoke last at a conference in Brussels that was attended by members of the Vlaams Belang party* suddenly means, as far as Johnson is concerned, that I endorse the entire program of the Vlaams Belang party* which he has incidentally consistently misrepresented in any case. I make no endorsements of any political party whether European or domestic and I have no contact whatsoever with racists or neo-fascists.

Charles Johnson is engaged in a large scale effort to defame and destroy people like me, Pamela Geller, and others who are fighting against the jihad and Islamization of the United States and Europe.

All I can say about that is that the evidence is clear as to what I believe and what my positions are in terms of defending the United States Constitution, and the freedoms of speech, conscience and legal equality for all people that are threatened by Islamic Sharia. Charles Johnson has placed himself in the position of being an ally and a useful idiot for those like the Council on American Islamic Relations that have worked consistently against those freedoms.

Are ANY of those values worthless, simply because Glen Beck lists them?

And if so, should I drop anything I believe if, on the off chance, I share that value with someone I believe is harming America? I’m sure Barack Obama loves his wife & his girls. Should I suddenly throw my wife under the proverbial bus so that I don’t risk sharing my values with the Bamster?

I would never say “Charles Johnson hates America,” for I do not believe he does.

I do, however, believe he hates contradiction. And the essence of America is a cacophony of contradiction—for America is about each person having the freedom to express his or her opinion, informed or idiotic as it may be.

It’s all about him him him !

    I remember that line:

    HIM, HIM, F*ck HIM!

btw: are the avatars actually Gravatars?

Just a reminder: (I posted a PSA about this before)
The Gravatar has one negative, it is keyed to your email address NOT the particular user name that you’re using at whatever place your commenting. Thus if you use different user names, they will be linked by the common gravatar. Now we all know how techdorky Chuckles can be and along with his ADD and Anal Retentiveness and Obsession with his ‘enemies’, it is entirely possible he could track who is using what user name on his blog by seeing the gravatar linked to a different user name. GET IT? So be aware that if you desire (for whatever demented reason) to remain among the LGF UnBanned, you might want to rethink your use of the gravatar.
Personally, I would prefer being able to upload a gif or jpeg to the blog rather than use the gravatar. (you only get one gravatar per email address) most .gif’s are small so maybe that could be implemented? It would also have the advantage of letting us use animated avatars. I mean since you’re repainting the house anyway, why not put on some new shutters and trim?

BTW Great new look for the blog and kudos to those implementing this upgrade. I’m guessing it’s tricky with lots of fiddly little things to keep track of as the various archives are made available and all the proper switches and keys are set.

what you do is bake a crust (or buy one) add strawberries and strawberry gel and walaha pie!

If you put it in the micro the dish was not what blew up, believe it or not it was the strawberries.

what you did was cause the juice in the strawberries to boil and whammo a low grade bang.

I will tell you an easy way to do it.
get the pie crusts, the rolled up kind at the store.
Peel and cut your apples about 1/4 of an inch thick.
Mix about 1 cup of sugar with cinnamon.
Fill the pie shell heaping full of apples.
Add as much of the cinnamon sugar as you want.
Roll the other pie crust on top and squeeze the edges together.
Cut slits in the top crust.
Bake about an hour at 350 degrees.

You will thank me with the first mouthful!

The laws here have changed over the years but are still a bit backwards. One must show their ID anywhere adult beverages are sold even if one looks as old as I. Also, alcohol sales end at 11pm. My family is from here for at least 5 generations and there was a time not so long ago where blue laws were in effect. No sales on Sunday.

Other laws are great. One can carry a loaded weapon in a vehicle and the driving laws are also better than most. My son is learning to drive and he must complete 50 hours with me or another adult and 20 with a licensed instructor. They will not allow kids on the road without responsible instruction.

One of the attributes of low-grade ego-maniacs; they need sycophants to reinforce their high opinion of themselves. Nothing does this better than to acquire new/unexperienced members who are initially grateful for the opportunity to comment to a larger audience and will therefore sing his praises and accept correction and chastisement so that they can stay.
You’ve seen this in Kindergarten gradehigh schoolcollegeat work any gathering of people looking for ‘belonging’ and that has a self-anointed ‘leader’ that everyone looks to for their good opinion and self-worth.
Those that desire freedom and can think for themselves will soon realize that the atmosphere is stuffy and stultifying and that their opinion isn’t really desired unless it is congruent with the ‘maestro’ or his minions.

    re: #327 Varek Raith

    re: #328 Rightwingconspirator

The worst and most painful class I ever taught was physics for elementary ed majors.

To be fair, there were a couple of really good kids there that would make excellent teachers and who were really stellar people.

The rest were dumb as bricks.

Before you jump on me for being harsh, please let me explain just how stupid, stupid can be, and then lament, gnash your teeth and wail, that most of those kids are going to go on to teach.

There was no mathematical requirement for the class. The goal was to tell them stories enough that they didn’t completely lie to their kiddies when they were teachers themselves.

However, there was homework. In one, they had to find the area of a 3 by 5 rectangle.

They whined piteously that there was not supposed to be any math in the class. They said they would not have to know this, because they weren’t going to be scientists, they were going to be teachers. I explained to them that they would have to teach this in 3rd grade to the average kids and first grade to the bright ones.

So I explained multiplication patiently. I drew five rows of three dots in columns. I explained that 5X3 was literally taking the number 3 five times and adding it all up.

I had them count the dots.

I expanded the idea into squares and motivated the notion of area.

They were looking at me like lobsters were coming out of my ears.

    I asked what was wrong.

One of the brave ones asked “Shouldn’t it be 3X5 instead of 5X3?”

Indeed the problem listed the 3 first.

I asked if they thought it would make a difference. Almost all raised their little hands. The fact that it was on the board in geometric form for why it would not escaped them.

So I asked well what is 3X5. They took out their calculators and got 15. I asked so what is 5X3? Again with the calculators, never mind that the answer was there, and why it was the answer was on the board. Of course it was also 15.

One asked, “will that always happen?”

After you get done lamenting that these are future teachers, we can lament that these people vote too.

    @ typicalwhitey:

That is one tough situation. My prayers are with you right now. Done.

I told my X when we split that our son would figure it out in the end and realize the situation that led to our divorce. And I was intent on giving him real and truthful answers about why his mom and I left each other when he asked. He is now at the age where he understands. And he is closer to me than his mother because he learned to trust from my insistence on telling the truth. She wonders why he is detached from her in respect to his closeness to me.

Your grandson is very young, but he will grow and learn to lean on those of you in this conflict that hold the higher moral ground. And God forbid that you lose him now, but if that happens he will return to you in the end after he realizes you had his best interests in mind. Never stop telling him the truth even from this very early age. It may not seem he understands, but the spirit of man is something that connects very early to those that have the same inclination for truth.

Love him above all. He will recognize that in you as he grows even though he may not remember why.

I have been teaching at the college level for over 20 years. LVQ is full of it.
It’s true that kids today are not well prepared when they get to college, but they are not stupid. And yes, that includes education majors.

What a ridiculous jerk. I think he’s a total fraud.

I feel for you. I see, with renters, too often how bad kids can get treated.

Actually, that’s one of the more believable things he’s written.

His comments (or more specifically the lack thereof) on that “Einstein” thread a few days ago were quite revealing.
