CAPTION CONTEST #2
Blogmocracy In Action
Guest Blogger: Macker
Hello fellow Netizens of the Blogmocracy! Well, a certain movie was released on DVD this week, and y’all who don’t want to wait for Skiffy’s bland version in January should get this! In the meantime, I decided to use this photo from that movie for this incarnation (HA!).
Here it is and have at it!

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.
Play nice!
Uh what movie are we talking about?
You need to shrink that picture. Its too big!!!
And
First! Or maybe not.Charles and Kilgore headed down the memory hole.
@ Sparky:
Winner!
@ Sparky:
LOL
awwwwwwwwwwww – young luv, how sweet!
Walter and Ludwigs Big Adventure. Costarring Cato the senile.
Beam us up, Scotty!
Hootie hoo… I ain’t dead… I just changed service providers.
Uh… Love the look of this place and I was moved earlier this past week by someone who asked you to post the vid for The Warrior Project.
I viewed it here, it was like 5000 views… and it is now over 78K… please reconsider…
we are strapped with a Commander in Chief who would rather have his photographers follow him to the coffins of service men and women than to the battlefield…
http://www.thewarriorsong.com/Welcome.html
The not so pc lyrics are available for those wussies who can’t stomach the stuff of soldiering… so caution but here’s the vid…

Sean was gracious enough to reply… and this is for a good cause y’all.
So Der Chucklemeister is slamming Doug Hoffman as “The Glenn Beck Candidate” this morning.
Hey, Chuck, that’s not a bug, it’s a feature!
Wow this place is truly georgeous
Sure you want to leave the N-word on Rush’s site, Kilgore?
Looking in closets. Checking the water pressure. Looks pretty good!
@ snork:
I just got here so I don’t know what ya’ll are talking about. But if I was Kilgore I wouldn’t poke Russ.
@ pbird:
Hey pbird how do you get that profile thingy
Another day, another carrot.
I like what you’ve done with the place.
Testing the new toys.
Great new look, so much better than that crappy blog that takes all day to load.
Ok Macker, what movie is this from, for those of us at a less exalted level of geekitude?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OI08582Ubbk&feature=player_embedded
Yes kkkilgore we know you’re tired. Just one more trip over to HA and you can go back to the basement.
@ bellamags:
Too Funny!
@ bellamags:
LOL, that`s a hoot!
The new site looks is terrific.
wow what a change, i thought i was on the wrong site for a minute.
love the winston churchill bit.
@ bellamags:
Stephen Crowder is awesome.
If I knew what movie you were referring to, I could rub some embrocation on the funny bone to loosen it up.
@ Speranza:
Really.
@ justin case:
It would be nice to have Maggie up there too.
“The other site” seems to be drowning in their own bile…
So depressing and humorless over there!
@ Lolly Gator:
Delusional does that to folks.
Hi Lolly!
Can someone help me with my gravatar? I made an account, and a gravatar, but don’t know how to get to to show here…
@ Rightside:
You have to use the same email address at both sites.
@ vagabond trader:
Hi VT…How goes the day?
Isn`t our new house The Bomb (as my grandson would say)
@ Lolly Gator:
It doesn’t help when you’re not allowed to disagree with the resident dilettante. If you’re going to have idiots as experts, you can try to claim the moral high ground, but you’ve forfeited the intellectual high ground. If you want to try to claim both, you need to keep idiots from opining on things they don’t understand.
But that would rule out most of what the proprietor has to say.
@ yah:
ahh ok, thanks
@ Lolly Gator:
Its grrrreat! Still have some learnin’ to do, loving it!
@ vagabond trader:
i would rather have her back in power in britian.
the place might start to pick up a bit.
Bella it is nice to “see” you.
You are very pretty!
And Grim you are handsome.
We are not only a group of funny and smart people, we are a good looking bunch too!
How do I change my picture?
@ justin case:
A great lady, we sure could use a few like her and Reagan in our mutual time of need.
i must say, i am totally lost with this thread.
@ snork:
Amen Snork…
Aint that the truth!
@ typicalwhitey:
That’s the downside to gravatar. You have to change it globally.
Count me among those who would rather have local avatars.
@ typicalwhitey:
Yes,my kitteh boy is not too bright but quite the hunk!
@ vagabond trader:
Me Too!
iceweasel and Jimmah walk head in hand into their new life together!
@ snork:
How do I change it though?
Do you know?
vagabond trader wrote:
and he can go back to his self abuse for theday.
@ Speranza:
Gaaaaah!Just the thought! You had to soil our shiny new blog didn’t you?
@ typicalwhitey:
You would have to go into your Gravatar account and manage it from there. Since it is tied to your email account you shouldn’t have problems getting in because they can email you a password recovery if you can’t remember it.
We could have local avatars and I am fine with that, but we are looking to move the site to a more powerful server very soon so it would make more sense to set that up there when we’re settled in.
they got less than 200 comments since the over night thread across the road,
wont be long before he loses his advertisers the way it’s going.
@ snork:
That is why I choose something rather generic.
justin case wrote:
I noticed that too…
No one deserves it more IMHO!
Whoa, bells, whistles, trumpets, drums, dancing girls, what happened here.
Go out for a day and the place turn inside out.
Nice

kilgor is saying. now remember charles you promised to give me a reach around this time, you were very selfish last time.
I think I figured it out
or not
@ justin case:
Look at the quantcast numbers. Definitely petering out. And I’m pretty confident that there’s no way to save it now, because after all the ideological purges and realignment, the “affinity” numbers are all still from right blogs, many of which are on the enemy’s list.
He’s peed in his bed, now he gets to sleep in it. At first that gives you a warm feeling, but when it starts to get cold and smells of ammonia, he may finally realize that it wasn’t all that bright of move.
I see when people use the quote button, it shows theit text, but not their post number…will be hard to trace that way. Is that a setting in wordpress?
@ justin case:
oh, I could have done without that visual. LOL
@ typicalwhitey:
It takes about 20 min.
@ vagabond trader:
Does that mean we’re not allowed to fart here any more?
@ Speranza:
LOL Nahhhhh! We’ll keep you around. Cato is more the nasty old uncle getting shuffled from one family member to the other.
@ typicalwhitey:
You may need to clear your browser cache for the new pic to show.
@ Speranza:
At least my miserable relative made every holiday memorable. It gave the rest of us, the neighbors, and the clops something to talk about till the next “event.”
@ snork:
Not at all, so long as you aim the cannon toward Mecca!
vagabond trader wrote:
Is Cato the one who kept making fun of the Palin`s baby boy?
@ MightyConservative:
Thanks.
I changed it on wordpress but it didn’t change it on here.
I will just wait until we move to change it here.
THANKS!
@ Lolly Gator:
Thats the old charmer himself.
Now where do you go and what do you do to upload an avatar?
@ newsjunkie_ky:

@ vagabond trader:
I would like to give Cato and Avanti both a swift kick in the crotch. They remind me of the two Siamese cats on Lady and the Tramp.

@ Beltfed:
LOL. Better check the dog I think hes wearing your briefs on his head!
Idea for administration: On My Profile: To upload avatar go to
avartar.com.
WOW! Nice job, Mighty Conservative! Wow!
It’s still unconscionable what hippie did to LoL.
He lied about her, and then didn’t apologize. Worthless… what kind of man does that to a lady?
LOVE the new look!
@ justin case:
He keeps trumpeting that his traffic has never been higher. We all know that can’t be true. If he is telling his advertisers the same thing, he could be comitting fraud. John Law ain’t going to care about some stupid blogwar.
@ bar:
Go ahead let the torment begin. We’re struggling to vac up all the leaves in the yard before the first snow. Which could happen any day from now on.That being said, barbeque sizzles all winter!
typicalwhitey wrote:
You have to change it at gravatar.com too, wordpress has their own thingie.
I think.
Maybe.
Try it!
@ Iron Fist:
If you were an advertiser of his, would you believe what the hippie tells you? LOL
@ m:
Hi m! Looking mighty sharp here!
@ m:
Thanks m I did and it worked!
@ vagabond trader:

OK, enlighten me. What movie is the pic from?
@ vagabond trader:
It says I do not have an account, even though I used the username/password, email/password that I use here to try to login.

I bow to the master!
@ typicalwhitey:
That’s a real disappointment. I am surprised she hasn’t flounced yet. What is she saving it for? Last?
@ newsjunkie_ky:
The user name at gravatar doesn’t matter. It does not have to be the same as here, matter of fact it could already be taken, as some have had that problem before.
The avatar is linked to the e-mail, so make sure the e-mail addy is the same as here.
Then the avatar will follow

If you don’t buy gas next week you can afford the meat for that BBQ. Get your new car tab tax yet? Zonkers!! Now they have cut the base tier water allotment in half. With big fees for going over. Does it ever stop?
@ Lolly Gator:
Lolly, I have known disabled people who have brought so much joy to their families and those around them. That our new health care bill may not let some of them be born or survive is terribly upsetting to me. Many primitive societies held disabled people in high esteem. They do bring a lot “to the table.”
snork wrote:
Just make a new email account and register a new gravatar under that. Use that email here, and presto. You have a local gravatar.

Very stupid. But then, they passed up the opportunity Clinton gave them to get 99% of what they wanted.

Even Obama is going to have a hard time sitting in the back of the bus pulling on his dick when it comes to allowing the Mohammedans to bring us a Second Holocaust. He does appear to be positioning himself to try and emulate Clinton on the Rwanda atrocity.
And he is worse than useless on Iran. Gah. All of that is why I think there will be a nuke war in the middle east before the end of Obama’s second term (if, God forbid, he wins a second term).
But the Palestinians don’t want peaceful co-existance with the Jews in Israel. They , down to the very last man, woman, and child want the Jews to be destroyed.

Links don’t (or shouldn’t). At the end of the day the link is just text that the browser processes. There is no validation of it, not any traffic generated to it just because you have a link. These embedded videos and images, OTOH, increase the traffic load considerably. Writing a web page is about compromises. This to be pretty, that to be more efficient. It isn’t as big a deal now with bandwidth being so cheap and plentiful.

Also, they think they can get Obama to force Israel to give in to 100% of their demands if they refuse to negotiate until every one of their demands is guaranteed ahead of time.
However, even if they got 100% of their demands, they would still refrain from agreeing that the conflict is over. If they did end up with a state that they don’t want, they would use it as a stepping stone to vote Israel into the “real” state of “Palestine” via the right of return.
They won’t bother building their own state at all if they get 100% of their demands, G-d forbid, because the only state they intend to run is Israel itself (as an Arab Muslim with the name “Palestine”).
Obama has unintentionally forced a situation where the “Palestinian” plans are even more obvious than they were already.

Sorry, the Paul Anka thing goes right over my head. Who was weeping over a Paul Anka song, and who cares?
And Pelosi would actually support Israel with military force? I can’t believe she would support Texas with military force.
The Paul Anka reference is to one of Glenn Beck’s less macho moments.
When has the U.S. ever ’supported Israel with military force’, besides arms sales?
Why do you believe Pelosi less supportive of Israel than other American politicians?
Well
1) Nixon put the 82nd and 101st on alert in 1973
2) The USA positioned US Patriot Missiles in Israel manned by US Servicemen in 1991
3) The USA positioned Aegis Crusiers and Destroyers off the Israeli coast in Prior to Iraq 2
4) The USA NOW has advanced Radar Installations in the Negev manned by US Personel

I will stoop to pointing out solid illiteracy in a post—total lack of punctuation and/or capitalization, gross grammatical or spelling errors, lousy sentence structure—if there appears to be no element of coherent thought behind the writing, if it appears to be animated by trollious intent or other malice, or if the poster has made a point of bloviating about his/her brains, brilliance, education, etc.
Ordinary slips in typing are a different thing entirely.

The remarks came in a joint communique issued at the end of a whirlwind visit to Cairo by Jordan’s King Abdullah II where he held talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, according to Jordan’s official Petra news agency.

A film about the Prophet Mohammad backed by the producer of “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Matrix” is under discussion, a Qatar media firm said on Sunday, aiming to create an English-language blockbuster for the world’s 1.5 billion Muslims.
Filming of the $150 million movie is set to start in 2011, with Barrie Osborne as its producer, Alnoor Holdings said.
Alnoor said the film – in which the Prophet would not be depicted, in accordance with Islamic strictures – was in development and talks were being held with studios, talent agencies and distributors in the United States and Britain.

To add a little unknown bit of info into that list.
Back in the summer of 1967 in Vietnam while on a company sized operation we got the word to hustle back to the base most rikitiki, word came down that the battalion was going to be ailifted to the Middle East, Israel to be precise. By the time we got back to the base the airlift was called off.
A few days later we learned that Israel was attacked by the Arab countries and we were going in hush, hush to support them.
Of course it was over real quick due to the proper asskicking the IDF gave the Arabs and no need for our battalion to back them up.
Very few on my friends remember that episode.

I haven’t dropped the numbering. It is proving to be pretty difficult to work back in. I’ve never had to do it before, so I am trying to figure out a way to grab the value through the DOM and Javascript since that is how the content is being grabbed in the first place. Trying to hook in with what is there and since the comment number you see (ex: 344) doesn’t really exist in the database, I’m having to figure out a way to assign it somewhere in the DOM where I can grab it. The number you see on the page is created at run time and doesn’t really exist anywhere but when the loop runs to pull the comments out, because WP stores all the comments in a separate table with an ID at this point around 150,000.
Gotta give it a go…LGF quote

@ buzzsawmonkey:
Real flashbacks come from P.T.S.D. (where a person actually sees the traumatic event briefly). Some people don’t recall the flashbacks themselves — they just suddenly find themselves among people asking them why they are shaking or screaming in terror. It can be triggered by a noise or some other reminder of the traumatic event.
Very rare, I suspect, and brutal. I know someone who had one of these without recalling it afterward. It was like a blackout for 10 or 20 seconds followed by wondering why people nearby were trying to hug the person all of a sudden. The flashback/blackout was triggered by the sound of a fender bender out on the street after the person had been traumatized by a multi-car pileup a few weeks earlier where there had been deaths involved.
Oddly enough, this flashback/blackout seemed to relieve tension from the traumatic event itself. The person started doing better afterward.
I think the person just needed to let out some long withheld screaming or something.
This was for real. This person hadn’t been seeking attention or anything. Far from it. The person had become very withdrawn since the traumatic event and only started coming out of the person’s shell a bit after the flashback.
@ Kirly:

Aren’t these two statements in conflict?
4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
If the government is not the ultimate authority, how can you say no one is above the law? Unless you’re talking about some other kind of “justice.”

Going back to firefox, I no longer see the highlighted quote, and I am still logged in as an admin.

There is an Animal Farm taste to this administration: on the barn wall there are plenty of “thou shall not” rules — Guantanamo, renditions, tribunals, wiretaps, intercepts, Predators, Patriot Act — that are crossed through and now rewritten as “thou shall sometimes.”… Taxes are good for us, but bad for the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee or the Secretary of the Treasury. Campaign financing laws, C-Span-aired health-care debates, and no-lobbyist rules are essential for the republic — sorta, kinda, maybe

The whole Mezzanine album by Massive Attack. I really like Beethoven also. I have his whole collection on my IPod. I know you wanted me to be more specific. If I had to pick three it would be, “Funky Town” that was the first time I had heard music like that and I thought it was fantastic. Next would be “Sweet Home Alabama” because I know those guys and I have heard their stuff all my life. We are from the same town. And the third would be…”Amazing Grace” with the bagpipes. That was the first time I saw my dad teary eyed.
Folks…this is from Battlestar Galactica: The Plan….
The Schweddy Balls classic.
@ bar:
Look, the Carpenters were hoaky to be sure, but that’s cold saying they weren’t “refined”.

i still get misty eyed whenever i haer it.
@ bellamags:
No, that was good… wasn’t really looking for THE most favorites of yours, just an idea of what you like.
I can’t listen to amazing grace without getting misty, especially with bagpipes.

Misy, you better break out a new towel – Queen Mothers Funeral Parade
@ Rightside:
I need to add one. Purple Rain by Prince. The movie is on right now. Reminded me of how much I loved it. Prince is a very talented artist. Underrated imo.
@ Sparky:
mwahahahahaha!
(I’m guessing this one wasn’t the drinking thread…)
@ bellamags:
He probably voted for franken though.
Goodnight everybody.
You know, Guys and Dolls, as I look down the thread I see many old names of friends who had been gone. It is like a reunion. We have become very much like LGF was pre-Rathergate. Now if we could get Geepers, Reaganite, Sarah D., McGuyver, and Mommydoc (among others) posting over here. It’d be one hell of a Party.
Skål!
@ Lolly Gator:
Hi Lolly! I’m great, how about yourself?! (but I’m not Moe!)

Not only that, but the response is pretty snappy too.
That other place was tripping over itself with all the bells and gizmos added to just make it slower.
