‘Breakthrough’ in Human Cloning

Good morning Blogmocracy Netizens. I hope everyone slept well and will have a successful day!

Scientist are claiming a very disturbing breakthrough. Humans can now be created without a mother or a father by cloning. This is the dream of many Progressives throughout the last century. The Progressives have dreamed of creating superior and perfect beings. Thanks to this disturbing breakthrough it could now be a reality.

Human eggs and sperm have been grown in the laboratory in research which could change the face of parenthood.

It paves the way for a cure for infertility and could help those left sterile by cancer treatment to have children who are biologically their own.

But it raises a number of moral and ethical concerns. These include the possibility of children being born through entirely artificial means, and men and women being sidelined from the process of making babies.

This is a sinister development that can have dangerous implications. Whether it was Nazi’s Master Race or the Soviet’s New Man, the Left always favored the creation of enlightenment superior beings. If this cloning experiment is true and works out, the Totalitarian Progressives will use this to create humans who will obey their commands. Eugenics was what opened the door to this  Progressive concept of superior humans. Now with this breakthrough, their dream is reality.

I am not anti-science. In fact, I love technological breakthroughs and advancements for humans. My beef is when science plays the role of God. The creation of artificial beings is where I draw the line. This is a dangerous development that must be opposed.

There is a Sci-Fi series, Battlestar Galactica, that shows what happens when humans play God. Here is a clip from Caprica to show the creations of the Cylons.

They ultimately destroyed their human master’s world. What’s to prevent something like this from real life.

The Progressives view themselves as superior humans. Cloning will give them the ability to live out their dream. The question is, will the clones obey their masters?

What is your opinion of smallpox and polio eradication?

Offended that science “played God” in those instances?

Hmmm, I must confess that I was totally unaware that the researchers developing vaccinations for smallpox and polio killed human beings in their search for ways to end the scourges of smallpox and polio.

Pull your head out of your ass if you can, their is a profound difference between research that seeks to end human suffering and murdering human beings.

Playing god is deciding who gets to live and who dies, saving lives should never ever involve killing one person so another can feel better about themselves.

Science that seeks to end human suffering isnt playing god, it’s human compassion at its very finest.

The dramatic image of Obama on the tarmac was a portrait not witnessed in years. Former President George W. Bush spent lots of time with grieving military families but never went to Dover to greet the remains coming off the cargo plane. Obama did so with the weight of knowing he may soon send more troops off to war.

enlightenment superior beings – pretty much every nasty motherfucker I’ve known has been a lefty and thought of themselves as enlightenment superior beings.

What I wonder is why do this when the global population is almost 7 billion and growing? Will these beings be used as military? Will they be considered human with rights or used as slaves and military? Its too creepy and hopefully these experiments won’t succeed. What will be interesting is if you can tell whether they have a soul or not.

Just about everyone I know who has been adopted has a sort of struggle that is of a different kind, makes me also wonder what sort of emotional issues they will have by not having any parents at all. Creepy.

Morning all, had to jump in on this clone stuff. It’s been treated differently in many Sci-Fi stories. I think on of the best modern shows that did this had to have been “Space: Above and Beyond”. Two of the main characters were clones.

Other stories that have dealt with clones is the reboot of Superman in the mid 80’s, RAH in “Time Enough For Love”, and there are numerous other stories as well. Interestingly enough in the RAH novel, clones were made of people to be used as parts for the person needing them. Spare limbs, organs, you name it. Fresh and young and no worries about transplant rejections.

Krauthammer gives zero both barrels and nails it!

I want to point out one thing about what Obama had said when he talked about “the long years of drift.” There is something truly disgusting about the way he cannot refrain from attacking Bush when he’s being defensive about himself. I mean, it’s beyond disgraceful here. He won election a year ago. He became the Commander [in] Chief two months later. He announced his own strategy — not the Bush strategy, his strategy — six months ago, and it wasn’t off-handed, it was in a major address, with the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defense standing with him. And now he’s still talking about “the drift” in the Bush years. What’s happening today is not a result of the drift, so-called, of the Bush years, it’s because of the drift in his years. It’s because of the flaws in his own strategy, which is what he’s actively examining.

Good is bad, bad is good.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Sales of new U.S. homes unexpectedly tumbled in September, their first drop in six months, underscoring the hazards to an economic recovery even as businesses appeared to be stepping up investment.

New single-family home sales fell 3.6 percent to a 402,000 unit annual pace from a downwardly revised 417,000 units in August, the Commerce Department said on Wednesday. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected sales to rise to a 440,000 unit pace.

A separate report from the Mortgage Bankers Association showed demand for mortgages has fallen for the past three weeks as buyers move to the sidelines ahead of the November 30 expiration of a popular home-buyers’ tax credit.

Funny things happen when you actually do the math in reference to white house bullshit.

WASHINGTON — An early progress report on President Barack Obama’s economic recovery plan overstates by thousands the number of jobs created or saved through the stimulus program, a mistake that White House officials promise will be corrected in future reports.

The government’s first accounting of jobs tied to the $787 billion stimulus program claimed more than 30,000 positions paid for with recovery money. But that figure is overstated by least 5,000 jobs, according to an Associated Press review of a sample of stimulus contracts.

The AP review found some counts were more than 10 times as high as the actual number of jobs; some jobs credited to the stimulus program were counted two and sometimes more than four times; and other jobs were credited to stimulus spending when none was produced.

    For example:

_ A company working with the Federal Communications Commission reported that stimulus money paid for 4,231 jobs, when about 1,000 were produced.

_ A Georgia community college reported creating 280 jobs with recovery money, but none was created from stimulus spending.

_ A Florida child care center said its stimulus money saved 129 jobs but used the money on raises for existing employees.

Ed from hotair mentions the daycare figure… Is anyone aware of a daycare who has 129 employees? daycarez R us?

Peter F Hamiltons excellent Commonwealth series has some cloning in it as well.

Though they only use clones when their original body dies…people are basically immortal in the series (minds can be downloaded, saved and loaded in new clone).

    Amen to that.

However… Notice how lately there have been no news about cloned animals, after the hype wore off? Maybe it is because the experiment did not work as well as planned, nor did it bring any practical use… It was kind of a dead-end exercise, and it is no longer hyped, and is probably abandoned by now. Same will most likely happen with this.

Folks, a huge fraction of the babies that come into the world are NOT planned, and are born of single mothers. So far, it looks like any babies formed in this new manner will not be accidents. There may indeed be issues, but overall, a way to provide children to parents who really want them (but who may have fertility issues that would otherwise prevent them from conceiving naturally) may turn out to be a good thing.

My two cents back to you (complicated issue):

Deciding what is an “accident” and what is not, IS playing at being a God. IMHO

I wonder things like… if people, male or female not being able to have children MIGHT just be part of God’s plan. (MAYBE the plan is something entirely different. MAYBE the plan is you have to do something different with your life. MAYBE children need you without you giving birth to them….so I wonder on infinity # of possibilities.)

Reminds me of that commercial for a “pill” for women that asks: Who says you have to get your period once a month?

this is what embryonic stem cell research is all about. If they can clone and destroy an embryo to produce stem cells they have a theoretically perfect genetic match. The thing is, they don’t have to do the cloning. That is what they create with using your own adult stem cells. It has been my understanding that these are the areas where real progress has been being made anyway. Fetal stem cells has gone nowhere not because of a lack of funding, but because it is less promising. It just turns progressives’ cranks to create and destroy an embryo.

Maybe so. If you don’t believe in God, you certainly couldn’t call it “Natural”either.

All of it is interesting to wonder about. Like I said: complicated.

I think single women, especially hollywood actresses purchasing children (whether it be adoption or my medical means) is rather interesting as well. (Funny how “regular” or “poor” single women up thread having babies is called “accident”)

All this sort of falls into the category of “Me Me Me” instant gratification type stuff.

No. I prefer the old fashioned way like all normal people. If the hippies start cloning a doper army I’ll just have to buy more ammo.
The point is you can’t unknow things and you can’t outlaw knowledge.
You do the best you can. The possibilities for alleviating human suffering (i.e. diabetes, cancer, birth defects and so on) are staggering. It’s stupid to not want to know about how things work and make them work to human advantage.
And yes it does come with responsibility.
I,for one, am not afraid of Hollywood sci-fi writers OR hippie clone armies.

The most obvious solution and ethical answer to the “will they obey their masters” is, they have to have the same rights. Otherwise you’re drawing distinctions as to what “is and isn’t human”, then you’re treading back down that slippery slope.

Possibilities themselves are endless, as much as they are for ripe for abuse by people. My belief follows through on that with nanotech as well, and personally I’d love to see working nanotech in my lifetime.
