Overnight Ocean Thread
Snork snuck over to the other place today so you wouldn’t have to!
He brought back a glimpse of what we have been missing. An LGF Patch for people who quit, if you will. Before long, it won’t even be needed.
Click the “read the rest” clicky to be bedazzled (it’s a spoof. i know, we shouldn’t have to say that but it’s hard to spoof a spoof of a blog!)…
Or just enjoy the open thread!
update from savage!
I have been working on the graphics on this thing so it looks fantastic. They will be up in a few minutes.

That’s the deep blue sea. And I’m the devil. You’ve all made your choices.
Wail on that tip jar, mama!

Don’t know what to say but truley, truley sad.

Sure would like to know who [deleted] is. they sure take up a lot of band space without ever saying anything. She/he does that quite a bit on all the threads there.
Sarge
What, no tankers ? lol
Boy, that is so close to the real deal that I’d swear someone lifted an entire thread!
Far more interesting than the real thing. Well done.
LMAO!
The whole thing was BEE-U-DE-FUL!!!
The comments are priceless!!!
Thanks for the great laugh I`m still enjoying!

LOL…LOL…I`m still laughing!
Lets get that Stinky…the brute!
And so it begins!
If you don’t ‘rationalize your debt’ and cash up. Rent for a while and buy yourself some gold then please don’t come crying to me when your ‘green backs’ are not worth the paper they are written on.
…… Turkey will switch from the U.S. dollar and the euro to national currencies in trade with Iran and China for approximately 20 percent of its commodity turnover, RIA Novosti reported Oct. 28, citing local Turkish media. The decision was announced during an Iran visit by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan…….
One can lead a horse to water but can’t make it drink.
That’s why middle class Americans won’t take this step but will … ‘hold on’ … until it’s waaaaay too late to save themselves and their families.

Wascally wacist wabbits no less!
My greeting to you all is a bit late, but…
Greetings All.
I think the typical wage-earners are going to be screwed.
Does anyone know who stinky was?
hiya lolly
re: #14 by typicalwhitey
Aha! Realclearpolitics has joined the vast right wing conspiracy against Obama and CJ.
“Bad craziness” is afoot!
I suspect that Culver City, CA is having a man-made earthquake right now.
re: #20 by typicalwhitey
I think Stinky was just Charles on clean-up duty.
That’s it! Charles’ personalities totally split! He decided to stay stinky!
re: #20 by typicalwhitey
Stinky Beaumont was a fictional character who actually handled the bannings, back when bannings were rare.
I thought that latest comic strip featuring Sharmuta was the most brutal, heartless, dispicable parody I have ever seen.
I had to force myself to read it all, three times.
It was cruel, I had real tears in my eyes. The portrayal of Sharmuta and her tortured soul was moving beyond belief. Whoever wrote that comic strip was driven by pure evil and wickedness.
P.S.
When is the next one coming out?
re: #9 by typicalwhitey
Is Stinky Beaumont gone, too?
I always thought he was CJ’s imaginary friend.
re: #21 by father_of_10
Hiya father_of_10…
How YOU doin?
Hiya Lolly Gator! Love the nic, it’s cute!
The blue pill is bad crazy. It leads to 1.0 posts in an Excel format. Stat. Welcome to the real.
There is no glitch in the Matrix.
Have you ever had a dream, Cj, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that blog? How would you know the difference between 1.0 and the real world?
/freak mode off
re: #26 by Eliana
I think Stinky was riding bikes with selrehC when he went over the hill, into the sewage treatment plant, and into the sludge digester.
Not a pretty way to go. I think it was about then that selrehC started to lose his cookies.
re: #26 by Eliana
Even those have left him at this point. They have more individual thoughts than his posters! ha!
Ok, it’s tomorrow. I’m out.

Glad you think it`s cute
re: #29 by song_and_dance_man
I thought they had a twilight zone moment last night, when there was a thread, and no direction on what to believe from Dear Leader.
I was expecting Rod Serling to come walking out of the mist.
re: #32 by m
I’ve actually been looking for that clip on youtube. I think you know why.
re: #34 by snork
I saw that too.
No one would comment because they were afraid to say the wrong thing.
WHY would you want to be a part of that?
These are adults!
re: #36 by typicalwhitey
Looks like I missed that…
Barely ever go there, I always come away feeling soiled in some way!
Naw I always feel DIRTY!!!
re: #37 by Lolly Gator
I just don’t understand what fun it would be to have to censor myself…
Well, I hate to admit this, but I had a dream about LGF last night… Honestly.
I was working in an LGF thread factory where a lot of people were sitting at computers writing up new threads. When CJ was about to launch a new thread or several, all the thread writers would scramble to get the information in to CJ so that he could put up the new threads.
In my dream, I thought I had done this job before I was banned but I had returned to the thread factory under a new name.
At one point, I said, “It’s nice to have the thread factory job after having been banned.”
EVERYONE in the room (CJ wasn’t there) said to me all at once, “SHHHHHH!”
It seemed that they were ALL banned LGFers who were writing new threads.
Then I realized that we weren’t really at LGF.
Everyone was smiling instead.
This is an actual dream I had last night!!!!
If Moe is here, I hope I won’t be committed to a mental hospital for my dream.
re: #38 by typicalwhitey
Not much fun in that is there?
I do love this blog though, all my loyalties are here.
Being banned from that place is a badge of honor for me now…lol
It`s true, most of the best bloggers from over there are here now, they were the reason for reading 1.0 in the first place.
What a shock it must have been for Chaz to find out he wasn`t the reason we went there.
Blogmocracy Rocks!!!
re: #39 by Eliana
And now you’re at the open source version of LGF. Where we all do write threads.
So what are you going to write about?
re: #39 by Eliana
Ummm…….is that you sharm??
JUST KIDDING!
Funny how stuff comes out in your dreams.
re: #42 by snork
I’ve been thinking about it…
re: #41 by Lolly Gator
I never thought of that.
cj probably did think we went because of him.
I went because of everyone else.
Savage and Snork,
LOL on the fake but accurate thread.

No, but I won’t interpret it unless you give me your PayPal ID.
re: #39 by Eliana
It may have started a nightmare, but it ended happily
ROFL !
That is funny stuff!
re: #41 by Lolly Gator
A couple of weeks ago, someone on Hot Air was saying that in the right wing blogging world these days, you have to have been banned from LGF to have e-street-cred!
So the person wanted to join LGF so that he could get banned too, I think.
re: #48 by Moe Katz
Will a Mastercard or Visa suffice?

But with the ego Chaz has…well I bet he thought he was the star!
It would be funny if it wasn`t so pathetic
re: #52 by Eliana
I couldn’t take your money. It’s pretty clear, and the others have interpreted it as I would have.
re: #51 by Eliana
LOL….Isn`t life strange, yet soo much fun!
Great Little Green Asshats commentary BTW, Savage! You’ve outdone yourself. Who were deleted in your thread of mystery?
I was thinking something else, too. That we have a stronger bond than at 1.0—because we all are ex-1.0, with a common experience about that, and coming back together here. And we are starting to some generational talk, and thinking about ourselves as a cohort.
re: #54 by Eliana
Ya gotta love those kinda dreams, soo glad it had a happy ending…LOL
re: #56 by Moe Katz
Yeah, it’s one dream of mine that makes sense out of a million that don’t.
Most of my dreams are about things plucked out of nowhere and I’m watching them like weird movies that have too much obscure symbolism or multi-threaded plots that they might as well be bowls of spaghetti.
I wake up saying, “HUH?”

re: #58 by Bunk X
There were enough hints in there, at least at the end.
I love the nicks…Stockling…classic, but better yet…hey, why do they all sound like TFK???Instant Classic!
I once had a dream about 1.0.
evariste pulled up in a hippy van and picked me up. I vividly remember the purple jacket she was wearing with long straight hair. The rest of the dream is forgotten but when shared I was met with a very funny online spanking. That thread was a riot.
I assumed evariste was a girl and he was not. What happened after that was one of the best moments for me at 1.0.
re: #66 by snork
heh. Got it. Just trying to ketchup fast.
One of these days, there should be a satirical LGF thread where all the replies are [DELETED].
In the movie “Real Genius,” the teenager student has a class where people have tape recorders to tape the lectures. As time goes by, there are more and more tape recorders that are starting to be placed on desks without a student sitting there.
Eventually, he goes into the classroom and a big tape recorder is playing a lecture in the front of the room while the entire room is filled with little tape recorders on desks (with no people in the room at all except this one teenager).
I would like to see a satirical thread where CJ is alone amidst an entire thread filled with [DELETED]s.

For some reason, I haven’t been able to find any statements by Hoffman
on creationism or “intelligent design.” But from the people who’ve
endorsed him, I’d be surprised if he isn’t a creationist as well.

It’s amazing how little info is available on Doug Hoffman. We do know
he’s not Dede Scozzafava, though!
Scozzafava is the religious right’s test case to see what they can get
away with in the right wing’s current tea party mass insanity mood.
Hoffman is the ultimate stealth candidate.

A total of SIX comments from CFnJ all day.

Yeah – I love that movie!

‘Night all, over and out.
Crisis at FedEx:
“Ok, you guys, I am NOT going to be the guy who keeps delivering packages of toilet paper to that guy in Culver City!! It’s not as if I can knock at the door and run away. The guy sits there WAITING for it. I get the feeling that he’s been holding his bowels in all day by the time I get there, too. It’s the creepiest thing I’ve ever seen.”

re: #82 by snork
Well that’s certainly a good way to grow an audience.
Oh c’mon guys. He was just saying that 1.0 is like the USMC. The proud. The few. And many will wash out in boot camp.
re: #86 by Bunk X
Yeah, and the [DELETED]s would be more interesting with nothing in them than anything CJ could think to say.
I’ll concede that I haven’t spent a whole lot of time investigating it, but from what I can tell, Scozzafava is a Big Government, Big Union, Tax & Spend, Cap & Trade progressive. There are even a couple of people who opine that she is, if anything, slightly to the left of the Democrat in the race.
So why doesn’t LGF just endorse the Democrat?
re: #91 by snork
LOL…The Proud. The Few…..LOL
re: #94 by Lolly Gator
They’re the creme de la creme. The elite…umm…what are they good for again?
re: #94 by Lolly Gator
I see why they call you Lolly. Cuz you lol so much.
re: #90 by AZfederalist
That’s what I liked about the lizards the least. Even Mandy Manners would pile on to sandbag the newcomers. Then they’d laugh about it, pat each other on the back, and lick themselves for what a great job they did labeling someone a neonazi fascist troll sockpuppet.
re: #71 by Possum
The only issue that’s important is creationism.
re: #96 by snork
Well if you guys weren`t so amusing..it would be a lot easier to stop laughing so much!
re: #91 by snork
…naw… don’t go there.
re: #93 by wolfie
You nailed it, Scozzafava is a Progressive.
re: #97 by Bunk X
I always hated that too. It was high-school nasty.
re: #91 by snork
1.0 IS NOTHING LIKE THE USMC, WE TALK THE TALK AND WALK THE WALK! ONE MORE THING WE KEEP THE BOLD AND BRAVE, ONLY THE CRAVEN COWARDS SURVIVE IN CHARLIE’S LAND! Man, do not compare Marines to the current crop of LOSARDS!
re: #98 by Rodan
Be careful what you type Rodan. Eyes are on you.
Believers in creationism are personally responsible for global climate change whether it gets warmer or cooler. And if you believe in AGW, then you’re a creationist and a white supremacist by association.
=)
re: #103 by bluliner10
What are you trying to say?
Not sure anymore, just felt good saying it though!
re: #97 by Bunk X
Yep, and that just plays to CJ’s paranoia because you just know he is looking for our socks.
re: #106 by bluliner10
re: #104 by Bunk X
The way they snicker over at 1.0 over the possibility that some politician might be a creationist, you’d think they were talking about a scandal that could rock any person’s career if they were found out.
Talk about thought police.
re: #103 by bluliner10
I said THEY think they’re the USMC. Ok?
re: #107 by AZfederalist
Every time he has open registration, we should all claim to have created new socks so that he can spend his life trying to figure out which ones are ours.
Every time he thinks he’s paranoid enough, we should add to it just a tad more…
re: #109 by Eliana
…after all, that is *so* much worse than being a marxist or having drowned someone or being responsible for passing legislation that fostered conditions that created the current financial mess.
re: #107 by AZfederalist
Look, just because Avid Editor called CJ an a-ho and got booted here doesn’t mean it’s not true.
re: #104 by Bunk X
Not only that, but if you’re a creationist, you want the end of the world. That’s why you’re rooting for the oil companies to help bring on Armageddon.
/Do I get a ding now, Sharm?
The dimbulbs at 1.0 are getting all in a tizzy over Doug Hoffman.
Sharmuta is all upset about the Catholic “Tradition, Family and Property” movement Defense of Traditional Marriage Rally that NY Conservative Party chairman Michael Long spoke at…she said their video was “dripping with fascism” and “nativist”:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJmeb8U33LI&feature=player_embedded
TFP is ultra-conservative Catholic but I would hardly call them “nativist”, Sharmie. TFP was founded by the Brazilian Jesuit anti-communist intellectual and Congressman Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira to combat Marxism and Marxist “liberation theology” influence in the Catholic Church in Latin America.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plinio_Corrêa_de_Oliveira
re: #112 by AZfederalist
Exactly!
How soon before they start claiming that certain politicians are Closet Creationists?
CJ is already trying to hunt politicians down for any possible evidence that they might be creationists. Pretty soon, CJ and his group will be claiming that politicians are hiding it.
re: #111 by Eliana
Aren’t we just a little wasp’s nest poker…
re: #110 by snork
okay some need this /sarc
re: #110 by snork
That`s how I read it.
That`s what made me laugh…
How incredibly important they are to all the pressing news of the day!
I still think it`s funny ….the way they picture themselves as the Only ones who know everything…just as long as it`s O.K. with Chaz!
re: #109 by Eliana
It’s a bizarre accusation that Charles has invented. He could have argued that so-and-so “is not fit for election because he once ate Cocoa Puffs, and we all know how bad they are for you.”
The anti-leaps of logic are intentional.
re: #104 by Bunk X
Yes Creationists are evil! They are stopping Progress!
re: #114 by snork
Yeah!
They think creationists want blood for Apocalypse. Now!
Eeeejits!

re: #111 by Eliana
“Every time he has open registration, we should all claim to have created new socks so that he can spend his life trying to figure out which ones are ours.”
Why should we “claim” when we already do?
re: #119 by Lolly Gator
So true!
And they will say things like….wouldn’t suprise me if he were backed by….creationists…too.
Spitting out the word creationists as if they were ladies lifting their skirts up to keep out of the ‘filth’
re: #126 by Bunk X
Good point!
The next time my sock puppet is logged in to 1.0, I’ll give your sock the sign of a brush across the side of the nose with my finger (like in the movie “The Sting”)!
re: #127 by typicalwhitey
Well,Chaz believes any creationist is evil incarnate!
He certainly weeded out the Christians on his blog in a hurry!
I think we were the first bunch to get dumped!
re: #129 by Lolly Gator
Lot a whole lot of religious Jews left there, either. And he also flushed the pet Baha’i.
I meant “not”
re: #131 by snork
We knew.
I think it may soon be time for me to use up a couple of socks…..sounds like fun!
Hear that Chaz, you can start looking for mine right away!
Quick go look, I might be posting over there, while your over here reading us!!
re: #126 by Bunk X
You got that right!
However I stopped licking the strawberries over there after a nasty incident a couple of weeks ago.
I still throw up a little in my mouth every time I see something small, red and berry like.
re: #114 by snork
Here’s an odd fantasy.
Let’s drill the hell out our oil reserves and rebuild our refineries. Dump it all on the market, bankrupt OPEC and leave them in the dust where they belong.
Meanwhile, the energy savings would be plowed back into nuclear energy. We’ll always need oil, but we don’t need OPEC to wield power over our economy.
re: #130 by snork
By the way, Obama is finally starting to worry about his extreme unpopularity in Israel. He thinks it might be impeding his plans for peace talks in the region.
Gee, Obama. Ya think??
He keeps trying to get messages to the Israelis to say that he wants peace and he wants Israel to be secure.
His messages aren’t helping.
It would help if Obama stopped working so hard to try to get Israel to commit national suicide so that he can impress the Arab world, but I doubt that he’ll change his stance at all.
He’s bad news and the Israelis know it.
re: #115 by The Osprey
Interesting.
How this is supposed to be suggestive of (never mind “dripping with”) fascism I don’t know. Perhaps Sharmuta thinks vestments are sinister. Perhaps she is a Know-Nothing, anti-Catholic, stained glass smashing bigot.
As for the “nativism,” she’s got to be hallucinating. TFP is as much a Hispanic thing as not.
re: #121 by Rodan
I for one don’t wan’t “Progress.” I want “Regress” to sanity. Gimme some Goldwater!
re: #124 by snork
heh. Go for it. You’ve got a knack.
re: #135 by Bunk X
When Bush was still in office and he indicated that we would start more drilling for our own oil, OPEC’s oil price dropped like a rock.
You’d think the Dems would have noticed this, but nooooo!
re: #116 by Eliana
“Pretty soon, CJ and his group will be claiming that politicians are hiding it.” [creationism]
That’s probably what he means when he says Hoffman is “the ultimate stealth candidate.”
re: #135 by Bunk X
We have other options. We already know how to make synthetic crude from coal. Old Nazi technology. And we’re on the cusp of being able to economically make oil from shale. Gazoodles of that.
If we wanted to, we could break OPEC just by becoming self-sufficient. But the carbon freaks won’t let that happen.
This is an important point, BTW. The AGW alarmists have suckered a number of people into believing that carbons caps will reduce oil imports. It won’t. It’ll do the opposite at the expense of domestic coal. The only realistic way to ween ourselves of imported oil in the short term is to use more domestic coal and shale and gas.
re: #142 by wolfie
I’ll bet you’re right!
He’s sneaking around with creationism hiding in his brain sleeper cells so that he can spring it on the world with a shock so big that it will rattle Pluto, formerly known as the Mickey Mouse Planet.
CJ has become the ultimate conspiracy theorist.
re: #137 by Eliana
The key to understanding Obama is understanding he sincere belief that he has a magic
tuchustouch. He really thinks he can succeed there where others have failed because he’s special. When you look at it that way, of course, he’s doing the right thing.re: #141 by Eliana
There was good reason for the drop. OPEC was threatened, and they backed off. They’re not stupid.
Good for you to notice. Basic supply and demand economics.
re: #135 by Bunk X
That`s a fantasy that would be brilliant!
If only that were possible.
Stupid dumb progressives, why do they ruin everything for the rest of us???
It`s not like everyone`s riding a bike, bus or train to work, the govt. still wants us to burn fossil fuels, so why not save some money, give America a break and start up that chant
“Drill Here…Drill Now”!
Why do so many people drive, depend on their car for everything (never mind heating their homes), yet still vote these yahoos into office???
It boggles the mind
re: #143 by snork

re: #143 by snork
Somehow we’ve got to make oil and gas into food. Then we can breed and slaughter as much as we want.
That is NOT sarcasm. The connection between food and energy is lost on a large percentage of the populace.
re: #149 by snork
Too True!!!
re: #146 by Bunk X
Supply and demand? What’s that? They never taught me those things at Columbia…
re: #145 by snork
Quite true.
He also believes that the answer to all problems in the universe is for him to give a speech.
He’s trying to talk Israelis into wanting peace (as if they don’t) and he’s trying to explain to Israelis why peace would be a good thing (as if they don’t know that peace would be a good thing after 150 years of the Arab-Israeli conflict) and he thinks he can provide Israel with real peace (which he can’t).
Israelis are trying to say back to him:
1. Yes, we want peace.
2. Yes, we know peace would be a good thing.
3. Committing national suicide isn’t the way to get peace, so go try to sell your wares elsewhere.
re: #147 by Lolly Gator
Everything in the world is run by C Students.
re: #152 by Bunk X
In an indirect way, that’s how it is now. It take energy and hydrocarbon-derived chemicals to grow all this food. That’s the biggest problem with biofuels. You end up using a lot of them growing and harvesting the crops.
re: #156 by Bunk X
Edit function needed there.
“The world is run by C Students” is more correct.
re: #152 by Bunk X
yes…. the use of oil to produce nitrogen fertilizer to produce corn to produce ethanol to replace the use of oil is very interesting!
Someone needs to take a few steps back from all the current ways of doing things and develop a new system
re: #156 by Bunk X
Especially Governments…
Most anyway!
re: #155 by Eliana
And his response: You didn’t hear me. I am Teh Won!
In the last week or so, there was an article about how pets have a bigger carbon footprint than SUVs. Even a goldfish has about the same carbon footprint as a cell phone.
They suggested (sardonically) that we should eat our pets to stop global warming.
Another in the last day or so pointed out that the biggest carbon footprint of all was eating meat. The article said that we should all become vegetarians.
I think some people are trying to rock the AGW religionists a bit, don’t you?
Oh, and while we are discussing fertilizer and food…
A really big problem we have in the USA is that we do not shit on the land, we shit into the rivers.
Millions of tons of valuable nutrients are washed into the Gulf of Mexico.

Some American Jewish leaders went to the White House to try to talk some sense into Obama when it comes to what he’s doing in the Middle East.
His answer was indeed something along the lines of, “I am Teh Won!”
To their dismay, he didn’t listen to a word they said.

Hello everyone.
I am still active at that other place, probably only because I have not posted or linked there for a couple of months now.
Still lurk there occasionally to watch the train wreck in process.
Anyhow, I think I have discovered the true identity of Professor Ludvig. Can we say he has been debunked?
re: #159 by Possum
DDT! Bring it back into use and it will save millions of lives from insect-borne illnesses, crop scourges and starvation. Isn’t that what we’re really trying to do?
Not according to the C Students in charge.

Hello!
Cute cartoon!!
re: #135 by Bunk X
Not so odd…I will take it one step futher. in 10-20 years, we could also build a few hundred nuclear plants, run the vast majority of our transportation on electricity, utilize natural gas for industry and STILL drill like crazy & export all of our petroleum. A little far-fetched but that would literally decimate quite a few rogue regimes around the world not to mention take the wind out of the sails of some of our not-quite-allies.
re: #168 by Bunk X
Are you trying to tell us something? Hmm?
re: #166 by 2soonold2latesmart
Welcome! Honest discourse here without the fear of the Sword of DamnCJ cutting off your tail.
I’d prefer you don’t use the word “deBunked” though.
re: #167 by Bunk X
Were the problems with DDT the same as with “Agent Orange” in vietnam? I have not researched it.
Contamination with by-products.
2-4d is one of the safest herbicides available. I have some that can be sprayed on pasture and grazing animals can be allowed back after 24hrs.
I think that time limit is so the 2-4d actually gets absorbed by the weeds!!!
Agent Orange was not pure and it was the impurities that caused the tragic human casualties.
re: #170 by Refugee
We’ll still need oil for rail and large vehicular transportation, including the military. Oil will be necessary for centuries.
BTW, I have to admit I kinda like that ocean photo. Is that actually one of Chucky’s?
I usually hate CJ’s ocean pics. He has no sense of composition.
Whatever happened to slokat? I’ll have to check Kirly’s list again, but maybe s/he just walked away. Now THAT was a good photographer, IMO. Especially good with water and light.
re: #137 by Eliana
Are there any stats about B.O’s unpopularity in Israel? I have heard this quite a few times but have not seen any data. Is it institutional (as in the Netanyahu led government), anecdotal or have there been polls. Not that it isn’t obvious or anything, just was wondering?
re: #171 by Eliana
I’m not interested in discussing my personal shit.
Note:
I also have a semi functional shit on the land septic system.
I also have a very green and lush yard and HUGE trees!

That’s LVQ!
He’s been outed!
re: #176 by Refugee
Yes, the most recent poll I’ve seen shows that only 4% of Israel’s Jewish population sees Obama as a friend to Israel.
This is pretty low, as such polls go.
Polls about Bush showed that 88% of Israel’s Jews saw him as a friend to Israel, by the way.
re: #174 by Bunk X
I dont know about centuries…but I agree with your premise. I can see aviation fuel being difficult to replace, but even large truck and rail can run on natural gas. Is freight rail to difficult to run on electirifed rail lines (such as the northeast corridor)? What about an almost entirely nuclear navy?
Some people in Israel joked after Obama’s 4% showing among Jews who view him as a friend to Israel that this poll is proof that 4% of the Jews in Israel are certifiably insane.
In other words, they couldn’t imagine why even 4% of the Jews in Israel would view Obama kindly.

re: #173 by Possum
DDT is an excellent pesticide, completely non-toxic to humans, and long lasting.
It was demonized in the early 60’s by one of the first “environmentalists,” Rachel Carson in her book “Silent Spring.” Some birds who were exposed to DDT laid eggs with thin shells.
Meanwhile, the chemist who came up with DDT showed that it was harmless to humans by drinking a solution of it. Here’s an interview with Michael Crichton just for a start:

I am still in a state of bewilderment at the post on the deliberate immigration of Islamists to Britain in the name of “multiculturalism”. IMHO the Blair/Brown governments are guilty of high treason.

Hey There 2soonold2latesmart…
Welcome to Blogmocracy, pull up a chair awhile and have a visit.
Feel free to talk about anything you wish here.
There are no egg shells to walk on, no banning stick, but best of all is your not expected to kiss the Admin`s. arse!
re: #182 by Eliana
Funny. 4% is such an abyssmally low number that it is probably lower than the number of americans supporting Al-Queda currently or a poll asking how many americans eat tree bark for breakfast.
Professional pollsters really do joke that you can always get a few percent of the population to say ANYTHING. Not to mention that 4% is not too far from the margain of error!
re: #181 by Refugee
What lubricates the machinery? The gears? The transmissions? There are alot of hidden demands for oil besides as a basic fuel. Natural gas is a fossil fuel as well, although Nancy Pelosi doesn’t know it.
re: #187 by Refugee
Actually, I believe that 4% is the margin of error for this poll, so it’s quite possible that a percentage quite close to 0% of the Jews in Israel see Obama as a friend to Israel.
re: #173 by Possum
Agent Orange was a defoliant used during the Viet Nam War for military purposes. Entirely different use from that of DDT.
The jungles of Viet Nam and Cambodia gave the enemy cover, so AO was used to remove that cover for reconnaissance purposes.
Whether or not soldiers exposed to AO were caused harm is still in question, as many of the reported illnesses caused by exposure occur in the same percentages of the population who had never been exposed to it. Go figger.
re: #176 by Refugee
I can make up stats as well as anyone. Let me know.
re: #185 by African Moondog
Britain is on the path to destruction.
Other Europeans are saying this, too, and they include the Netherlands in this bleak viewpoint.
I’m going to miss both of these countries.
It’s impossible to understand why the Labour Party would decide to dismantle Jolly Old England.
Of course, it makes it all the more frightening to realize that we have a president in America who has said that he wants to “fundamentally transform” America, too.
I suspect that this is how he will do it, too, if he gets the chance.
re: #188 by Bunk X
I understand about Natural Gas being a fossil fuel, but we have so much of it in North America that it can displace (along with Nuclear power) the use of Crude Oil allowing us to effectively crash the market and render OPEC ineffective and useless. Much of our foreign policy problems are rooted in energy issues. Take energy out of the equation and socio-politically the world is a different place-in our favor.
I`m calling it a night folks…
Sure hope I fall asleep this time, this insomnia is driving me crazy!
God bless all,
Stay safe Blogmocracy Netizens
Se ya on the flipside…
re: #193 by Refugee
I disagree. Take energy out of the equation and we’re all starving farmers with plows.
re: #193 by Refugee
Really?
Even Israel has found natural gas (with a couple of new locations found fairly recently).
re: #194 by Lolly Gator
‘Night Lolly!!
Bunk… on Agent Orange, you got me wrong.
Agent Orange was mass produced and “dirty” it was the impurities that caused the problems.
that was in the 60’s
I am wondering if the production of DDT in the 60’s had impurities that caused some health problems.
As I said, Agent orange (very nasty harmful stuff) is now called 2-4d. A very safe herbicide, so safe walmart sells it!
re: #196 by Eliana
Not saying that other countries don’t have natural gas or other energy resources. Just that some nations are being held hostage by certain rogue states that have oil. It’s an old story going back to the 70’s oil crisis. If we, the west, peaceful democracies become energy independent we are in a much better position to promote our values worldwide. Israel is a great example The Israelis are on the cutting edge of attempting to become energy independent. Project Better Place (electric cars) is one way Israel is doing that.
re: #193 by Refugee

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6H-w9Rm46o
re: #195 by Bunk X
LOL…I guess my “fantasy” is just that, but the reality is Energy Independence is a worthy goal and allows the U.S and our allies to not have to worry about the Chavez’ or the Iranians flexing their petro-muscles.
re: #199 by Refugee
Yes, I understood what you meant!
I was pointing out that this would also be good news for Israel since Israel has natural gas, too!
Israel is also expert at water desalinization plants. There is some speculation that water may be the next oil.
Not that Israel would sell it or anything, but that it would be valuable for countries to have water desalinization plants and Israel could sell/build them for others.
I think energy can also be generated from water desalinization plants, right?
re: #198 by Possum
Everything is toxic. It’s the quantities that’ll kill you.
There was a contestant on a radio show a year or so ago who died from water intoxication before she could claim the prize for holding her bladder the longest.
spit.
Oh… being held hostage…. OIL…
If anyone is interested and bored some time look up Suez Crisis.
At that time the USA was using its own oil. The rest of the world was using Mid East oil.
“”the Eisenhower administration forced a cease-fire on Britain, Israel, and France.”"
That was the first time the USA weilded the big stick.
You are now reaping what you sewed in 1956.
re: #201 by Refugee
Way too many of the oil countries are hostile or at least use their oil advantage against the U.S. and our allies that we should be doing everything we can to become energy independent.
re: #205 by Eliana
Between imports from Canada and Mexico, and our own [known] fields including ANWR, we could be essentially independent of OPEC within 10 years.
re: #205 by Eliana
As I posted above… it is not just the fact that oil is imported. the path the imported oil takes is vital.
You not only have to kiss the ass of the oil producer, you also have to suck up to any country between you and the oil.

Thanks for the information!
Well, I need to toddle off!
I’m working on 4 projects right now (after having a purposely slow month during the Jewish holidays in the past month or so) and I’m up to my eyeballs in alligators when it comes to all the stuff I have to get done.
I set my own hours but my hours are still hectic – so I better get some sleep.
Goodnight!
re: #210 by Eliana
Toddle away!
re: #206 by Bunk X
Canada and particularly the province of Alberta alone has more oil reserves, in the form of Bitumen from Oil Sands than all known oil reserves in Saudi Arabia. That is saying something. I think almost half of Canada’s Oil production is derived from Oil Sands and the technology is still nascent.
‘Night Eliana!
re: #208 by Possum

re: #181 by Refugee
“What about an almost entirely nuclear navy?”
Never going to happen. We are so short of Nuclear rated people now with just aircraft carriers and subs being Nukes, we would never be able to get that many trained Nukes to the fleet. There has been talk of making DDG’s and CG’s nuke, it can and has been done, but cost and trained Nuke personnel are road blocks.
re: #241 by Johnnyreb
Well lets increase some of them retention bonuses and see what happens? And lets start with retention bonuses for all them dentists who will keep the nukes in good dental condition?
re: #242 by Nevergiveup
You seem to forget that democrats hate and despise the Military. There is simply no way on earth they will ever allow that kind of increase in military spending.
Remember, their hatred of the military stems from the amount of money spent funding the military, money that they cant steal, errr use to payback their liberal/socialist/communist/Marxist supporters and fund their pet social
experimentprojects.re: #243 by doriangrey
Hey I just figured it was worth a shot. But the military does give retention bonuses for ratings and talents they really need.
re: #244 by Nevergiveup
Right now Nukes get $100K career reenlistment bonuses with Nuke supervisors getting maxed out SDAP, so I don’t think more money will solve the problem. There just aren’t enough qualififed people coming in the recruiting stream right now.
