Luckily, The Blogmocracy Irony Meter™ Goes To ‘11′

Just the other day, it was brought to my attention that the famous LGF Dictionary has been permanently scrubbed from LGF.  (cue violins)  I suppose that, since the Dictionary and I have history together, it might be appropriate  for me to comment on it….

Now, oddly enough, snork and I were discussing the possibility of this happening a little while ago.  And while we’ll probably never know if we were on the right track with regard to the reason (it disappeared without much, if any, fanfare), it seems certain that this marks an important milestone in the history of that site and for those who still inhabit it (even if they wouldn’t say publicly).   Ya know, in a metamorphotic sort of way.  The Dictionary is like the discarded chrysalis…or something.

Anyway, it got me all sentimental, and I remembered that I had kept a copy of the last “official” version as a souvenir during the whole “punking” episode.   So I went back to examine it a bit, and all I can say right off the bat is that I recommend looking at the credits (which were absent in CJ’s version, naturally).  Or, better yet, here:

The LGF Dictionary was started and maintained for years exclusively by zombie, but this new version has several editors:

zombie, song_and_dance_man, Killgore Trout, Thanos, vxbush, lawhawk, DesertSage, Mandy Manners, Noam Sayin’, and writermom.

(Hat tips to: Charles, song_and_dance_man, theparson, zulubaby, Raziel (Troll Devouring Blader), scaramouche, Frank IBC, mich-again, Poitiers-Lepanto, Perry, composmentis, Andrew B., Buckaroo, kps, whiterasta, Yehudit, aboo-Hoo-Hoo, AG in Houston, Al di Grandpa, American Infidel, bkrog, Bob G., bouzouki, christheprofessor, Craig Abu Al-Boo-Boo, Cybrludite, D. Edgren (the Merciless Infidel), DocDale, doppelganglander, Doss, Ed Moran abu GOMEX, exredtory, Ferris Bueller, FreeKeys, Geepers, Gmac, hm, ibu guru, Iron Fist, justdanny, kmclay, Kragar (Proud to be Kafir), M. Simon, Merovign, Meryl Yourish, Mike C., minuteman, mollyb, Mr Pol, Nannette, NuclearTinkerbell, Ol’ Southern Boy, ploome hineni, pst314, Rayra, rbmn, RickZ, satan sidekick, Spiny Norman, Stringart, Studsup, Throbert McGee, Village Idiot’s Apprentice, wtc394, Weiss, TotallySirius, Dan, adie, Antioch, Steve Barnett, Dan the Librarian of Sheffield Hallam University, David M, the crew who put together the LGF FAQ, and everybody who coined or popularized any of the terms here.)

I couldn’t help but take a sec to match those names up with Kirly’s book, and this is what I got. (someone help me out if I missed any).

Interesting, eh?    Bloodbath.  Heavy casualties.  No wonder CJ left the credits out.   Oh well…

Moving on…

hmmmm….

Whoa!  Check this one:

racist - A statement of surrender during an argument. When two people or disputants are engaged in an acrimonious debate, the side that first says “Racist!” has conceded defeat. Synonymous with saying “Resign” during a chess game, or “Uncle” during a schoolyard fight. Originally, the term was meant to indicate that one side was accusing the other of being racist, but once it was noticed that people only resorted to this tactic when all other arguments had been exhausted, it acquired its new meaning of “indicating one’s own concession of defeat.”

I think it’s safe to say that this is part of that aforementioned discarded chrysalis.  As the pupa transforms into its adult form, the black stripes turn to yellow (so to speak), senses develop, and the neurological system allows it to see real racists around every corner:

Oct. '09

Oct. '09

Oct. '07

Oct. '07

…or something.

The beast has morphed, and it is ill-tempered.

BTW-  how would one reconcile the years the site spent universally dismissing racism accusations as weakness with what appears to be an all-hands-on-deck full-time effort to accuse and/or “prove” that others are racist?  Answer:  delete it, and you might not have to.

Exit question:  Can they survive without an “Iron Fist Rule”?

Orwell was right– words will have no meaning. Saw clip earlier with Barney (no– I don’t like you) Frank talking about regulating the derivatives market and somehow works in a dig at the GOP as the party which messed up Katrina. It does not matter that it’s a lie– the word “Katrina” is like a talisman for the Dems. It’s that nonsense which irks me to no end.

My favorite clip of him lately is the one where he is telling the other congresscritters that they are going to expand government and have death panels for business they deem to be a drain on society. While that f’in troll Geitner is smiling in the background.

It really does. Funny how people like to try to wipe out their past by any means necessary, and take on the extremist mantra of being right no matter the cost. With that. I now try my hand at a bit of German in a fitting tribute to 1.0.(pretty sure I’ve got a few pronouns messed up :p )

As for me being a contributor to the dictionaty, huh? Did I say something in a post that was placed into the dictionary? Because I know I never deliberately contributed anything to it. The only phrase I ever posted that got any reaction that I know of (Miss Trixie in Toronto loved it) was my description of the hag in the bag as an ‘eggplant with eyeslits’.

The school buses weren’t the only way out of town for the thousands affected by Katrina.

Amtrak offered at least 1 train, and were either declined or didn’t get a response before they HAD to get out of town.

Sure, the Bush administration made mistakes in the aftermath, but there were plenty of poor decisions made at the state & local levels before hand that put the people of N.O. in the situation to begin with.

A friend of mine thought of using either barges or boxcars, but also knew that even suggesting either one of those would be decried as racist & hateful & demeaning.

The smaller one turned to the bigger one and said, ‘I can’t understand how you can be so much bigger than me. We’re the same age; we were the same size as kids. I just don’t get it.’

‘Well,’ said the big Gator, ‘what have you been eating?’

‘Politicians, same as you,’ replied the small Gator.

‘Hmm. Well, where do you catch them?’

‘Down the other side of the swamp near the parking lot by the Capitol.’

‘Same here. Hmm. How do you catch them?’

‘Well, I crawl up under one of their Lexus cars and wait for one to unlock the car door. Then I jump out, grab them by the leg, shake the shit out of them and eat ‘em!’

‘Ah!’ says the big Alligator, ‘I think I see your problem. You’re not getting any real nourishment. See, by the time you finish shaking the shit out of a Politician, there’s nothing left but an asshole and a briefcase.

WHY YOU NEVER QUESTION A DRUNK…

I was shopping at the local supermarket where I selected:

    A half-gallon of 2% milk
    A carton of eggs
    A quart of orange juice
    A head of lettuce
A 2 lb. can of coffee
A 1 lb. package of bacon

As I was unloading my items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk
standing behind me watched as I placed the items in front of the
cashier. While the cashier was ringing up the purchases, the drunk
calmly stated, ‘You must be single.’

I was a bit startled by this proclamation, but I was intrigued by the
derelict’s intuition, since I indeed had never found Mr. Right. I looked
at the six items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about
my selections that could have tipped off the drunk to my marital
    status..

Curiosity getting the better of me, I said , ‘Yes you are correct . But
how on earth did you know that?’

The drunk replied, ‘Cause you’re ugly

Realize it or not, that guy just peeled the mask completely off the NEA, and exposed what its real mission has been all along.

    Is Obama a Sleaze?
by Michael Wolff | Vanity Fair
    October 27, 2009, 1:42 PM

So it turns out there’s a reason the president hasn’t wrapped up health care or Iraq, figured out Afghanistan, closed Guantanamo, or found anybody a job. He’s been out raising money.

He’s been schmoozing, and golfing, and kissing ass.

The Wall Street Journal has outlined in quite excruciating detail just how the president has actually been spending a significant amount of his time and attention. In nine months he’s done 26 fundraisers. Three a month.

George Bush, by this point in his presidency, had, according to the Journal, only done six. The Journal says Obama’s hyper-fundraising is because of McCain-Feingold, which limits soft money contributions. Obama has got to do more to raise more. George Bush raised $48 million with his six fundraisers; Obama, so far, has only raised $21 million.

He’s not just been on his belly, but on his belly for a relative pittance.

Heh. Billy Mays was local, and last I checked his little town was trying to give him a parade, but was facing opposition due the controversy surrounding cause of death.

    Billy’s impact

In response to the Aug. 26 letter “Tribute for What?” in regard to the upcoming tribute to my brother Billy Mays: I would like to address a few points. The purpose of the memorial and concert is twofold: first, not just to remember a man but to remember the heart of a man who touched many lives in positive ways — from the kids who loved watching Billy to the people who became millionaires because they trusted Billy to work as hard for them as he would for himself.

Billy spent countless hours signing autographs and encouraging children to dream big and work hard to achieve success. In fact, the vision for the September memorial was born for this reason alone. Cards, many from children, have poured in from all over the nation, in spite of the negative publicity.

Second, Billy traveled the world, but his heart was always in McKees Rocks. For this reason, all the proceeds of the event (all-day family-friendly entertainment ending with a concert) will be donated to the Focus on Renewal, a McKees Rocks-based nonprofit social service agency that is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, having made a positive difference in thousands of lives.

The writer of the Aug. 26 letter stated that her jaw dropped at the news of the Sept. 20 event. What is jaw-dropping is the fact that Billy Mays, the most-watched man on television, is continuing to touch lives even in his death. Rest in peace, big brother.

    I hear ya.

    Quick story.

Dad and I sat down at Panera for lunch a couple of weeks ago.
I was first with food, heard a woman with a tracheotomy talking through her machine.
I thought it would irritate my Dad, so I chose the booth adjacent to her, because that’s how we show love in our family.
    The woman did not stop.
    Twenty two minutes.
She could have been reading from a text, I don’t know.
We both left with the distinct impression that the tracheotomy may not have occurred surgically, but rather by force at the hands of an ex-husband.

When you say your blood pressure spiked, did it go up or down? I’m just curious because when I had anaphylaxis (from eating a banana), my blood pressure went extremely low.

Just swung by zilch, shame on you ChenZen for luring me to give him a hit, and tried accessing stuff on the left side bar, tools, headlines, even contact. None of them work unless you are signed in. is this paranoiaor what? he must be getting hurt by mention of his rock drop rate of visits.
Heck, I bet if we all quit lurking it would be near zero.
The last time I accessed his stats, it was something like 130 logged in and 1100 visitors. That translates to 970 popcorn consumers watching the train wreck.
The top tool bar here needs to be modified to include the LKF dictionary abridged unversion, and kept on track.

I wonder how this story would go over at LGF?

The story has two of Johnson’s favorite topics in one story, racists and Nazis! (Unfortunately, there’s no mention of Glenn Beck or Creationists.)

Coles backs down over ‘racist’ biscuit [cookie]

    Australia’s ‘Nazi’ biscuits

    Crumbs … it’s a racist chocolate biscuit

    Political correctness gone mad

    Racism claim: Coles renames biscuit

Racist Cookies Removed From Store Shelves

Creole Creams are chocolate biscuits with white cream filling, similar to the popular US cookie Oreos.

Deputy director of the University of Queensland’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander studies unit Sam Watson told brisbanetimes.com.au that the biscuit name had echoes of Nazism.

“The word Creole comes from a period when people’s humanity was measured by the amount of white blood they had in their bloodstream,” he was quoted as saying.
