It seems Charles finally does reach
ideological purity!
A sekrit 1.0 thread from the not so distant future.
Latest at 1.0: ExxonMobil causes crop circles!
Well, it looks like ExxonMobil is up to new mischief. According to Exxonsecrets.org, there is a newly discovered conspiracy involving ExxonMobil, Halliburton, Tyson foods, and a gang of local prankster helicopter pilots to create crop circles, in order to defeat the organic free range chicken industry. Exxonsecrets quotes Zelda Pollo, president of the Vashon Island lesbian free range chicken association and hemp shop:
I was out grazing my chickens, and found the organic food crop that I was growing being destroyed. My chickens are crashing starving. This is obviously a plot by Big Chicken in cahoots with Big Oil.
Exxonsecrets went on to say that Ms. Pollo witnessed black helicopters spraying a totally chemical smelling chemical on her crops. It was like, chemicals. Then the crops turned brown, and all the flowertops went, like, limp.
Said Ms. Pollo:
I’m bummed. The chicken conspiracy is trying to put us all out of business, because we don’t make those fat industrial chickens that Big Oil uses to make oil out of. And this is hurting my other business, too.
Exxonsecrets also reports men in uniforms patrolling the area, with patches that say something with “D”, “E”, and “A”.
Well, lizards, this is disgusting. I hope Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh are happy about this rural cooperative losing their ability to grow cooperative organic chickens to feed hungry children all over the world. Oh, and hit the tip jar.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.
Play nice!
Thank goodness I walked away from that cesspool months ago.
LOL Not bad with the dialogue. I think we’re missing a MM “piss up a rope” line in there though.
All these caricatures just write themselves. It’s too easy.
Don’t forget the number 1 comment : DELETED.
1.0 = a joke.
Hi Stalkers!!!!!
Now that’s just damn funny, I don’t care which cesspool you are mocking!
Shit, I worked in Mobil’s OoCC in 1980-82 and they didn’t fuck any chikin’s back then, just othern oil companies and stuff. But it was leagal and what, besides they had it comin!
For the record, m add her touch to that. And it all works pretty well.
You forgot having Charles mention his bicycle or his latest techy tweek to the blog.
ROFLMAO!
Yes, I do think you need to work a bunch of DELETED comments in there!
re: #5 by Scott Madsen
Scott, I really don’t get involved in politics. Only did once though, back in the 80’s when they wanted to close an elementary school. I argued against it was right as school aged pop increased significantly as the oldster moved on and young couples took their place.
Are wonderful gov’s new front man Greg Fajt was at one time running for some seat in the PA house–he came to our street to shake hands and as soon as I asked a question his handler yanked him away! Fuggedabout it!
I just vote for the Repub’s/conservatives when possible. The School superintendent fiasco gives you an idea about local politics–you are not likely to get straight answers.
And if I am really confused about right and wrong in politics, in general, I can always go to 1.0 for CJ’s guidance!!
By the way, who do you think got to Charles Johnson? I mean there has to be a payoff in my opinion–why would he reverse course and be so reckless in his approach those who disagree with him.
BCEO–before the common era of obama, I used to read Andrew Sullivan–pretty well thought out comments re repubs and conservatism. Then, of course, he went off the rails over Pres Bush’s view of marriage. Ok, what caused CJ to change?
My bet–$$$!

Hey, basically what I have always done.
I’m just wondering if this is a place were I should follow that MO or stick my neck out,
People I know in NOVA are rising up, but it is probably a waste of my time here vis my families health?
Sad about Walter. Back when commenters could speak freely, he often had interesting things to say.
He really is a playwright, BTW, and a very talented one.
that is some funny stuff. good job.
re: #9 by Old Guy
Ok, what caused CJ to change?
Hubris and nostalgia
on reganite et al per your prior…there are others more qualified to comment.
Whoa. I took a moment to answer the phone while reading this post, and when I can back I had to ask myself, “What the fuck am I doing, reading LGF?” and clicked the ‘Back’ button. Then I realized my mistake.
Great job! I LOL’d!
You forgot about m, myself and a handfull of others making silly remarks on the dead thread while many good posters added links to relevant information about real issues facing us today.
Oh wait, we were all banned.
carry on.
Great stuff, especially the 1.0 thread.
There was a proposal to play a “Hi Bob! Chuck!” kinda game this Friday night, and I’d like to suggest an enhancement. Commenters are invited to have a typical 1.0 discussion by posting “quotes” from the swamp for whatever 1.0 character they’d like to be, any or all. It’d be fun satire/mockery, just for that one post.
Bob shoulda appeared with the strikeout above.

Like this:
Think about this phrase:
“the conservatives Crypto-racist agenda”
Not fiction.
Not a parody.
Not said by a troll.
Straight from LGF.
No need to satirize that Cult of fools.
“THE WHITE HOUSE – Despite the President’s promise of a swift and decisive victory, Obama’s War on Fox News has developed all signs of an unwinnable quagmire, making the White House even more isolated in its unilateral attempts to crush the growing media insurgency. As the war continues to grind on for a second month, public opinion is shifting towards a quick and complete withdrawal. While many observers still agree that the “War on Limbaugh” is a “just and necessary war,” even the former supporters of the war effort are now labeling the War on Fox an “unnecessary war of choice” and claim that the cable channel had nothing to do with Obama’s falling approval numbers.”

Scott, Tim Murphy is having a town hall meeting on this Sat in the AM at Jefferson
and I imagine it will be well attended. I’m not going as believe people in Mt. Lebo are much more eloquent than I and don’t believe anything of new will be broached.
So what is with the hate-fest with Sarah over there? I thought the crap was bad from the MSM, but those guys take the cake.
Sarge
So what is with the hate-fest with Sarah over there?
She was banned from LGF, then had the audacity to start her own blog while running for office.
re: #34 by Tanker
Yea I saw that too. Since by “busking” thread, I think he’s popped up like 4-5 beach pics and pimped the Amazon again.
I wasn’t sure if he’s just doing it to make me (and us) laugh, or if it really is that easy to satirize CJ and the gang.
After that, this thread, and the comic strip, I think we’ve proven it’s the latter.
re: #39 by Bite Me! Comics
He probably believes that, too.
[CJ busily searching his deleted databases looking for the banned account "AKSarah"...]
re: #40 by ChenZhen
Yes, I think it is that easy to satirize anything happening over there! Just one BAJ (big ass joke)!
Chucky, let me refresh your memory. That was Sarah D in Florida, Not Sarah in Alaska. You banned Sarah D for…what was that again?
re: #39 by Bite Me! Comics
Your “Bite Me” stuff is beyond the valley of clever. Keep it up.
Plus, she named her son “Trig”, which was an obvious threat on Charles’ life.
re: #40 by ChenZhen
Your busking thread was very funny.
It was very surprising to see the Amazon Halloween thread right after you had spoofed him. There isn’t a single comment on there that indicated they’d buy anything from Amazon. Someone mentioned a book so then Charles posted a link in a comment to the book on Amazon. Still, no one will buy anything. They’re all broke over there.
Cato asked if anyone had seen A**whistle and then someone told him to check his e mail.
What happened? She and LVQ are hated by many over there but because Charles inexplicably likes them, they’re protected from all manner of boorish behavior.
Your “Bite Me” stuff is beyond the valley of clever. Keep it up.
Thanks! There is some new stuff in the pipeline
re: #38 by Sarge
Thats true. Same with DC burbs too, but I will probably be going to the State capitol soon with some NY transplant ‘Teabaggers’ nevertheless.
re: #46 by Bite Me! Comics
LOL
re: #46 by Bite Me! Comics
Apparently he never conceptualized algebra and flunked geometry. Trig is nothing but a cloud over the ocean to photograph and post as artistic genius for an overnight thread.
re: #21 by Bite Me! Comics
Of all the funny jobs here (to date) about 1.0, I think your comic strip is an absolute winner
re: #47 by sharon
LVQ was totally pw3ned yesterday by six degrees. Today, he’s back, and sitting in the first mate’s chair in that CO2 (wtf) thread. LVQ had Chuckles bamboozled into thinking that he knows shit from shinola.
Haven’t seen six degrees today. If he doesn’t show up in another couple days, I’ll report him MIA to Kirly.
Gawd what a sorry soap opera.
Apparently he never conceptualized algebra and flunked geometry. Trig is nothing but a cloud over the ocean to photograph and post as artistic genius for an overnight thread.
“The Overnight Pretentious Fata Morgana Thread Sponsored By Amazon”
It’s also possible that CJ is suffering from stress after two words from Sarah Palin’s Facebook page all but destroyed Obamacare at one fell swoop.
CJ will end up in a padded room somewhere with orderlies cracking up laughing while saying to all newcomers to the psych ward, “Watch what this one does when you say the words ‘DEATH PANEL’! Bwahahahahaha!”
re: #48 by Bite Me! Comics
And Chuck’s, I’m sure. Lotta material for you.

Ahahahahahahahaha. Or, sneak into his room at night, hovering over his sleeping form, inches from his face, while wearing a Glenn Beck mask, and awaken him by suddenly saying “RIBBIT”

re: #57 by Bite Me! Comics
Yeah!
re: #56 by Bunk X
Too much material. When I was working up my flounce, it was like a race against time, because just when I thought I had all the stupid covered, he’d do something else that I couldn’t leave out.
I finally had to leave a lot of crap out, or I’d literally never finish it. I could fill another 10 1.0 comments with teh stupid that he’s done since the flounce.
re: #53 by snork
I wish I would have seen that.
I did see where LVQ was complete hostile and rude to AJStrata who Charles was “honoring” after AJ had defended Charles.
However, an honor by Charles is often a disguised trap. AJ was making some anti AGW comments so Charles went upthread and asked LVQ to come downthread and counter those comments.
Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like it. The behavior is unfathomable.
re: #55 by ElianaCJ will end up in a padded room somewhere with orderlies cracking up laughing while saying to all newcomers to the psych ward, “Watch what this one does when you say the words ‘DEATH PANEL’! Bwahahahahaha
I know I’m new here, but you owe me monitor for that one! LOL
Kinda strange though, when Sarah broght up Death panels, of course they mocked her, then congress added ammendments to take it out of the bill. Strange to take action to take it out, when it was never in….hmmmmm?
Besides, the death panel was set up in the “Stimupork” package anyway.

Ludwig got pounded by AJ Strata. Nice heads up. Note that AJ Strata was not immediately banned by CJ for disagreeing with the man-made global warming carp.
If anyone missed the fireworks, here’s the link to copy and paste:
littlegreenfootballs.com/article/34957_AJ_Strata_Takes_a_Stand_Against_Robert_Stacy_McCain
I used to think that CJ really didn’t understand that it was the commenters that gave that place value and he was therefore making a mistake chasing them away. But now I think that maybe he DID realize it and wanted to change the blog to focus on HIM and HIS notions. Maybe he’s glad to have nothing but trembling mediocrity there, to have no one left to upstage him. Maybe he’s tired of being the fine-print-on-the-back-of-the-CD player instead of the lead singer in the band.
Look at the list of the fled-and-the-banned. Look at the talent. Gagdad Bob. Iowahawk. Zombie. Buzzsawmonkey. And many, many more.
He doesn’t like these people. He’s trashed every one of them. He can call S&D a fascist freak (!!!) and Buzz a misogynist (!!!)all he wants to, but unless he is genuinely psychotic, he can’t believe that.
The simple truth is that he doesn’t want them around. HE wants to be the center of attention now. HE wants to be the star. HE wants to be Mr. Popular, Mr. Smart, and Mr.Wonderful. Which means he has to drive away anyone who is self-evidently superior to him. And anyone who questions his wonderfulness.
re: #46 by Bite Me! Comics
At least Sarah didn’t name here daughter’s after something sleazy like some moose killing from helocopter device like Geissele:
http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=112
Has anyone noticed, at least to me, that CJ is posting/answering/responding to comments in significant more numbers than in years past. iirc, there were many threads where he never made a comment and never responded to a question. Perhaps he was actually earning a living–but, now, he comments frequently–perhaps to let the fawning few that he is really, really one of them.
Wow, how many of the remaining lizard have changed their colors. I believe the primary hue is obnoxious mixed snake venom. Just my opinion.
re: #55 by Eliana
What two words? Bite and Me?
I don’t know if I’m banned yet. Don’t much care–I’ll never post there again.
I find now when I read 1.0, I unfocus my eyes and just scroll through a post looking for red downdings. It used to be that a down-dinged comment was one that was insulting or poorly thought out. Now it’s a sign the comment might actually be worth reading. Then I read Charles’ comments and just shake my head at the change. Occasionally I’ll read Sharmuta (You are so right, Charles), Killgore (Teabaggers!), or Irish Rose (I’ll get those stalkers if it’s the last thing I do), but that’s it.
It no longer makes any sense for me to post there. It’d be like trying to change Kos’s mind–can’t be done, he’ll just demean you, so why bother?
A man Charles used to like before he became ideologically impure by getting Glenn Beck’s cooties on him, Penn Jillette, had a moving YouTube recently where he talked about the pain of being demeaned by Tommy Smothers, a man he idolized. I used to feel the same way about Charles so cruelly turning on his conservative/libertarian readers. It hurts. I hope Penn gets over his pain–maybe he will come in time to feel the way I do about Charles: I admire what he did in the past, and can only move on from his odd and inexplicable present.
re: #69 by Old Guy
Thats when it went to the scupper…when he opined.
re: #70 by Bunk X
“Death” and “panel.”
re: #60 by snork
Don’t sell yourself short. Your flounce was one of the best, but you’ve outdone yourself here by posting periodic updates from the swamp.
You are doing a great job stalking the stalkers. Honest injun.
Zombie got banned? Zombie???
Wow, bad craziness.
re: #75 by rawmuse
Not only banned.
Banned for no reason.
And then derided and trashed on 1.0’s blog.
re: #66 by Bunk X
Holy shit. This guy’s good. I guess I travel in different circles, but he certainly has LVQ’s number, and isn’t bashful about outing it.
re: #67 by wolfie
Very perceptive, but he’s thrown out the intelligentsia and saved the school children.
re: #76 by sharon
‘You got a link to that? I’d stomach the garbage to see that. Zombie? Really?
re: #64 by Tanker
USAF Started out on “Tankers, Q models” Lost too much hearing, and ended up working in the hospital.
Zombie has an intellect that I found truly astounding. He/she could write on legal topics with the acuity of judge. I never failed to read anything from the zombie. I still hit the zomblog.
Snork,
Do you have a link to your flounce? You were E2M right?
I see it referred to often but haven’t had the pleasure of reading it.
re: #69 by Old Guy
Several folks have noticed the same thing and said the same here.
re: #76 by sharon
I was just looking for a link to his site today, I was wondering what happened.
A thread for this a thread for that. Is Snork a LGF moby plant, cuz every thread seems to drift there lately. No offense Snork, but the rails are coming of the train lately. The politcal world is changing around us, and we got nothin. Wit only lasts for so long. Where is the constructive element? Everyday drifts back to the old world, we’re wasting our resources in my opinion. I’ve said it before and it has fallen on dead ears here. The enemy is on it everyday, while we dilly dally around.
Just a drive by as I seem to post less and less here. Peace people.
re: #69 by Old Guy
I remember a time when it surprised me when CJ posted a comment. He is (unfortunately) all over the place now, and with a lousy attitude.
re: #71 by Palandine
Tommy Smothers cranked on Penn? Got a link?
re: #73 by Eliana
Heh. “Death Panel” was a bit extreme, but she threw it on the wall and it stuck. Gave the left something to chew on.
Sarah has the ability to call the devil by its own name. Politicians seldom do that anymore.
re: #75 by rawmuse
Zombie had a thread on her blog where the 1.0 folks, especially Irish Hose, was giving her a buncha carp.
re: #82 by sharon
Here: http://www.littlegreenfootballs2.com/2009/09/24/operation-chuckys-big-adventure/
re: #77 by snork
I thought you posted that link earlier today. Everyone here ought to peruse the whole thread.
re: #79 by IslandLibertarian
I don’t have a link.
If you go to Zombie’s blog and read the Kevin Jennings post, you’ll see in the comment section some snarky posts about 1.0
Zombie doesn’t delete comments.
Irish Rose came over, posted something, went back to 1.0’s site [so check the date and time and you can find the 1.0 side of it] and said that Zombie had deleted her comment.
Which wasn’t true.
But CJ was already pissy with Zombie for the Holdren post and of course the Jennings post was probably way too much for him, so he just up and banned Zombie for not deleting other posters on HER blog.
It was unbelievable.
re: #87 by Bunk X
http://hotair.com/archives/2009/10/21/penn-jillette-getting-yelled-at-by-my-idol-for-appearing-on-glenn-beck

/remember what openness to debate was like, 1.0?

Scroll a bit and you’ll find the irrational attacks.
re: #92 by Bunk X
All he did was confirm what I’d concluded. AJ kept wanting to talk theory, and LVQ kept wanting to throw papers up, and then huff and puff. LVQ doesn’t understand squat, or he’d take AL on on a theoretical level.
In my experience, when you have a “scientists” who only wants to talk papers, and never wants to talk theory, he/she isn’t a scientist in any meaningful sense of the word.
Unfortunately, AJ stopped abruptly in the middle of the thread, and the swarm kept on going, giving the impression that they won. I don’t know whether he’d decided that he’d given as much time as he could, or if his mike was shut off. I didn’t get the impression that he had any reason or inclination to bail; I think he wasn’t allowed to continue for one reason or another.
re: #93 by sharon
Zombie and CJ really blew up over Van Jones.
Get this:
Yyyyyyyeah.
re: #85 by Sparky
Snork is good here. No paranoia necessary.
re: #95 by Bunk X
I saw those in real time….I misunderstood your comment…I thought there was a LGF thread about banning Zombie. Has Zombie been banned?
Yeah, later when IR complained about the mean people on his site.
re: #100 by IslandLibertarian
Yes, Zombie was banned sometime in the last few weeks.
re: #97 by snork
Yes. The Van Jones disagreement played large. But it was the Holdren post before that too.
Great, great flounce, BTW. Thanks for sharing. You must have flounced before the boiled frog, LOL? Charles went Whitney Houston crazy over the frog. “Think about the children”.
re: #91 by snork
That was unequivocally the most spectacular, funny and spot-on flounce ever. Bravo.
re: #60 by snork
…and it has only been a month. You could almost keep a continuing digest of the drama…or maybe….a BLOG…there’s a novel idea!
I THINK Ringo the Gringo left when zombie was banned. (?) He’s banned, anyway. So much for photo reports.
Oh! Be sure to check out zombie’s report on a tea party protest in (yes!) San Francisco.
re: #94 by Palandine
Whoa. Never seen Penn Gillette like that. I’d say he sounded whiney, but on the other hand, if Tommy Smothers, one of his idols, spat on him verbally, maybe Penn’s got a reason to post such a video. I dunno. It took both of them down a peg in my book.
http://www.youtube.com/user/citizenchong?blend=3&ob=4#p/a/u/0/83bVwMoeY24
Van Jones is such a garden variety type of commie, the likes of which are common as dandelions where I live. Really nothing extraordinary about him. And to think, that is the hill that CJ chose to die on, unbelievable. Really, I am aghast at what has occurred there, so many long time posters gone, even ones that I met a meet up. And so many that contributed so much.
re: #96 by snork
Seems that the discussion was spanning time zones. LBS quit, and AJ continued point by point. Earlier in the morning LBS picked it up again when AJ wasn’t there to defend himself.
From what I read, AJ was very cordial, discussing LBS’ points one to one, while Ludwig BullShit spouted insults. Even the other lizards were downdinging him for being a pompous bastard.
re: #100 by IslandLibertarian
Yep. They’re not allow to speak of Zombie anymore. Charles and the usual gang of idiots pretend to take credit for popularizing what Zombie did.
Then Chuck accused her of posting sock puppets, including one named “Chicken Kiev.” I don’t know if that accusation is true, that Zombie was commenting on her own posts, but at this point it doesn’t matter.
re: #107 by Bunk X
But it’s very relevant because the open threads here often focus on 1.0s crazed Glenn Beck hatred. The question is, should the dissenting viewpoint take advantage of the large audience and state their own side calmly and cleverly or should there be outright avoidance of those you disagree with?
In 1.0’s case, all dissent is banned. Makes the place much less interesting. There’s no give and take. Just “quite concur, quite concur”.
In the O administration, Fox news is shunned. Instead of realizing how large that audience is and calmly and sanely pointing out the administration’s policies, shunning is the MO.
I think Gillette is right, he knows he’s right, and he is cleverly displaying his sorrow while putting forth his own thoughts for public consumption. His opinion is that sane people speaking in a ranting insane environment enlighten, not legitimize, the crazies, even if just one at a time sees the light.
re: #104 by Refugee
Ditto that.
re: #111 by sharon
I first heard Glenn Beck on the radio, and I thought he was clever and funny, but radio personalities don’t necessarily have the same impact when they go video. They have an annoying tendancy to mug for the camera.
Rush’s TV show bombed for the same reason.
re: #113 by Bunk X
Yes, a lot of them are much better on the radio. Imus is painful to watch.
They sure know how to grab audience share though.
‘Night all. Enjoyed the famous flounce. Wish I would have gone out the same way but I posted some of the Zombie banning stuff over here and was banned for it. It was worth it.
So here’s a great chili recipe you’re gonna love.
2 lb. Lean Ground Chuck
2 medium sized yellow onions
2 medium sized bell peppers
2 8oz. cans Hunt’s tomato sauce
2 12oz. cans Campbell’s tomato soup
2 8oz. cans mushroom stems and pieces
1/2 lb. grated cheddar cheese (for topping)
1 tbs crushed red chili
1 tbs chili powder
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 cube chicken boullion
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbs ground black pepper
2 tbs garlic powder
Brown Chuck in an iron skillet. Transfer Chuck to crockpot, saving the grease. Set crockpot on low.
Add onions to the grease in the skillet, simmer until soft.
When onions are soft and happy, add them to crockpot and mix.
Add spices.
Add the rest of the stuff and stir/fold the mixture.
Heat on high for 60 minutes. Prepare spaghetti or macaroni while you’re waiting.
When chili is ready, ladle it onto macaroni or spaghetti and top with grated cheddar cheese.
Great stuff.
Oh, yeah. Be sure to dice the onions before you put ‘em in the pan to brown.
Also forgot to mention. While the chili is cooking away in the crock pot, make a beer run. That way you’ll be ready for the Friday night snark fest here.
It won’t be the first annual snark fest, but it’ll be the first. Next year might be the first annual one.

I was “disappeared” on Bloody Friday in July…no warning, no comment, no nuthin’!
Right in the middle of posting “BLINK”…..”this account is blocked”.
Rumor has it, it was announced in the “Sooper-speshul-sekrit-mutual admiration society-thread” that I was Iron Fist’s sock puppet.
Cult Leader CJ is an ass.
Am looking forward to the new server and other improvements on this blog. Really miss the tools for composing comments (especially the edit feature) and the avatars are fun too.
Nevertheless, this is a great online community– much like the one which existed at LGF a few years ago (until the pony-tailed freak wrecked it)
re: #131 by IslandLibertarian
The banning stick was swinging at flies earlier this year. I was banned for trying to discuss a topic that, unbeknownst to me, was verboten.

re: #111 by sharon
No dissent. Sounds like….totalitarianism! Seriously, I often wonder how many of the regs at 1.0 are thinking “this is freaking nuts, but I am just going to play this out a little longer” as opposed to those that are truly experiencing Stockholm Syndrome and the statistically impossible few who actually, happen, by chance, to agree with EVERYTHING that Charles says. Everything. Always.
Wonder how that breaks down. Food for though for the night shift.

Many of the folks still over there have emotional investments. That seems obvious to me, especially when CJ makes a hard left and the long timers change their stance to support his.

Yes, I seen that too. Appears that Drudge is not an acceptable media source to some of the kooks over there.

re: #127 by tunnelrat
I always wonder what exactly she freaking does all day. There is no possible way she actually works for a living or has any sort of family or anything. She is literally posting, as far as I can tell, 24/7. It reminds me of the World of Warcraft people who play, like, 20 hours a day. Sharmuta needs to go to LGF Anonymous. “Hi, my name is Sharmuta and I’m a Chuckaholic”.
I was scanning the other site yesterday, and I noticed that Charles made a comment that referred to the fact that a poster had attempted to get the all-important last post on a thread.
I was puzzled – until I recalled that the last poster has his name in blue on the front page under the Charles’s thread leader and a bubble comes up with the first few words of the post.
It was then I recalled that the times Charles responded to posts of mine were at the end of threads. I often get to threads late (as here), but decide to post anyway, as thoughts are ephemeral and I like to get them down as they occur to me. I had no idea that I was trying to hog a spotlight.
This is another example of how technological wizardry can distort behavior, like the ding system. And yet there is a technological answer to Charles’ jealousy of that particular virtual space. If he gets irritated by last posts, why does he not close the threads on a post of his own choosing or writing? Then a sneaky denier can’t spoil his site behind his back.
Someone on this site recently suggested identifying the last poster on a thread.
re: #146 by Overlook
To finish the thought from the last post -
Don’t do it, if it is to become a thorn in the moderator’s sides.
Maybe I’ll just post “last” when I’m done.
LAST!
re: #141 by Bunk X
Good point…but I still can’t get over how impressionable (for lack of a better word)someone can be to essentially change their political stripes due to an emotional attachment to a political blog. How much of an independent thinker can you be. To be fair, there are folks there who simply like the site and know Charles is nuts but agree with much of his viewpoint. I think most of them have been “flushed out” or have left, shall we say, in a ball of fire.
re: #144 by Bunk X
The Obama administration and 1.0 seem to share the same opinion of Fox News, which is why it is the only news I ever watch.
re: #145 by Refugee
As long as Chuck is around, she feels important, just like Irish Hose and Asswhistle. They don’t realize that they’re being used like property security dogs. Chuck doesn’t respond with much more than snippy comments, while the others bark and drool on his behalf.
re: #147 by Overlook
That kind of pissant crap doesn’t go on here. Posting “First” is a ridiculous first comment that CJ hates, but here it’s considered mockery. You won’t get banned for the obnoxious absurdity. Same with being last.
There have been some catfights here, but they’ve been mostly civil, with very little name calling.
This place is fun.
re: #150 by tunnelrat
You “watch” the news? No offense intended.
But for those regulars who do know he is nuts but are politically alligned with him it must be a struggle everyday. They privately cringe at a lot of what has gone on, but don’t take that last step of checking out. I suspect many of them DO read Hot Air etc. and post under different names if they do to avoid the wrath of charles.
The fact that he ‘forbids’ anyone from posting on the banned list of sites is the ultimate in hypocrisy. It’s his blog, but not only can you not disagree with him or his ‘pet’ subjects you can’t even go to another neighborhood. It is so Soviet Union circa 1970’s. And the snitches are watching.
re: #149 by Refugee
Some are blind followers of the alpha dick. He pets them occasionally and they think it’s because he likes them. And they’re entirely wrong.
re: #152 by Bunk X
I agree that this is far more open.
I remain fascinated, though, by the way Charles regards his website. To make it so user-friendly technically, and so difficult and hostile a place actually to use, is very strange.
As I’ve remarked before. It is a Gingerbread House. Hansels and Gretels taste at their peril.
re: #154 by Refugee
There are folks who post comments here under pseudonyms/sockpuppets for fear of getting banned. I understand why one who was awarded the rare chance of registering at 1.0 and allowed to see avatars and the Sekrit Blog Place, but aside from that, what’s the big deal?
It’s all psych for those who buy into it. A surprising number have come over here WITHOUT FLOUNCING just because they were sick of the big brother stuff.
re: #152 by Bunk X
Speaking of catfights, the LVQ-Strata thing was a site to behold. Even by the dour, biting unfriendly LGF standards the thing got so nasty that it made me realize that as long as your one of Charles favorites, you can get away with some pretty vile stuff (so long as it is directed at someone else and your view is consistent with Chuck’s). The reality of the thing is that a couple of brave LGFers tried to, correctly, call out LVQ. One of the most telling threads I have read on the new 1.0
re: #85 by Sparky

I’m looking at internet excerpts of a book by Peter Schäfer, The History of the Jews in the Greco-Roman World, and I’m thinking of ordering it. The Seleucids built a gymnasium down the block from the temple, you know, and some of the more traditional Jews found that objectionable, but the temple priests were reportedly hanging out in the gym instead of doing their ritual functions
The Arabs who call themselves “Palestinians” must be flipping their lids in the Holy Land today.
It appears that a UNSC veto from Obama won’t be needed for the anti-Israel report about the Gaza War.
Russia and China definitely plan to veto a Security Council discussion of the report if it comes up and Al Jazeera thinks that France is planning on vetoing it too.
re: #185 by Eliana
It would be interesting to understand the diplomatic maneuvering behind all that.
Before I call it a night, I just want to mention to Moe that there are a lot of Moderates at this site…even some who were roughly politically aligned with LGF on the spectrum (but horrified by the goings on there and not in lockstep with them). Here we have a forum that is reasonably sane and without the judgement. It’s a biggish tent.
re: #187 by Refugee
Thanks for the reassurance. It should also be okay to diss Rush, but this is perhaps too much to ask
re: #186 by Moe Katz
The concern of Russia and China seems to be that going forward with the report would put an end to the Middle East peace process (and it would).
France may feel the same way, I’m not sure.
re: #189 by Eliana
Why (seriously) would it put an end to the peace process? I’m not challenging this, just really not cooking on all brain hemispheres this morning.
re: #187 by Refugee
Further thoughts: It is indeed a big tent. If there are only two tents, you have to choose between moonbats and rightist loons for company.
And, Eliana, I resent being made to feel like a commie rat for loathing a man who is capable of saying, “feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream.” (And that’s a well authenticated one.)
re: #190 by Moe Katz
The Gaza War was the result of rocket fire into Israel increasing after Israel withdrew completely from Gaza in 2005.
Bibi Netanyahu has stated openly that the Jewish people in Israel will not be willing to take any more risks for peace if Israel is going to be prosecuted for defending her people from the consequences of taking such risks.
He’s got an excellent point and the permanent members of the UN Security Council know it (or at least some of them do).
re: #193 by Eliana
Oh, okay.
re: #193 by Eliana
They do need to change the rules. As it is, Israel gets put under a microscope while the big powers can fight insurgencies any way they like with impunity.
re: #188 by Moe Katz

The federal government has NO business in meddling with education AT ALL, especially this czar nonsense, and ESPECIALLY this czar.
Interesting news in Israel this morning…
The “Palestinians” and Obama are both insisting that Israel and the “Palestinians” begin peace negotiations at the point where former PM Ehud Olmert made an offer of statehood to the “Palestinians” in 2008.
However, Martin Indyk is claiming that Tzipi Livni warned Mahmoud Abbas and America that they’d better not sign the deal with Olmert because it was unacceptable from the Israeli side.
Olmert was facing indictments so he offered too much in the 2008 deal. Obama and Mahmoud Abbas want to start any new negotiations at this point and Bibi Netanyahu is saying ‘no way!’
This weakens Obama’s position (to know that even the former left leaning government didn’t want this deal either except for the left leaning PM who was facing criminal action and hoped to redeem himself with a peace deal).
Indyk: Livni told PA to reject offer
Got to run–take care!

re: #238 by Number6
Hi Number6!
At this point, it looks unlikely that there will be negotiations anytime soon since Obama poisoned the peace process by making impossible demands of Israel right off the bat that have been picked up as pre-conditions for negotiations by Mahmoud Abbas.
I don’t think a peace agreement is possible anyway.
What’s ironic is that the Arabs who live in Judea and Samaria are actually seeing a remarkable rise in their economy since Israel defeated the suicide bombers and the other terrorists.
No peace deal was made. Israel defeated terrorists. The Arabs are living better in Judea and Samaria because Israel stopped the Pal terrorism.
No “pro-peace” people want to talk about this, however.

re: #243 by Eliana
I was thinking of the never-ending ‘negotiations’, i.e. Israel being called upon one more time to give away something or to compromise Israeli security for some phony reason or other.
Obama will not support Israel. I expect him to dump Israel at the very first moment he thinks he can get away with it.
re: #246 by Eliana
Such a contrast with American Jews. *sigh*
The support for this Marxist turns my stomach. It may sound cold but American Jews have not known the dilemnas of their Israeli brethren and are too far removed from Jewish history to understand the folly of their politics.

Agreed!
This is why it’s reassuring to know that China, Russia and possibly France plan to veto a discussion of the report about the Gaza War in the UN Security Council.

Hmmm, wonder what that unholy alliance is up to.
Yeah, I’m cynical and frankly do not care about anti Israel fatwas the UN issues on a weekly basis.
re: #251 by vagabond trader
Sharmie did even better than that, “oooo , another herd of dinosaur decendents.”
Profound ain’t it?
re: #250 by vagabond trader
When Obama heard about the poll with only 4% of Jewish Israelis viewing him as a friend to Israel, he made some initial plans to speak to Israelis on TV during prime time (as he does in America all too often) to try to change their minds by letting them see and hear him on TV.
Some commentators in Israel remarked in op-ed pieces that Obama’s problem in Israel isn’t that the Israelis don’t know him well enough.
His problem in Israel is that the Israels do know him well enough.
Plans for a speech on Israeli TV were scrapped.
re: #252 by Eliana
I don’t understand why China, Russia and France seem to be on the good side of this (Maybe France) but I do know that dredging up the Gaza War one more time in an attempt to slam Israel is unjustified by any reasonable standard.
re: #254 by RIX
She was the very first commenter …. again!
re: #253 by vagabond trader
The Security Council fatwas are more serious, though.
Israel definitely wants to stop the UNSC from making some kind of ruling about the Gaza war report.
So Russia, China and maybe France are doing something helpful for Israel by planning to veto a discussion of the report (even if they plan to do this for weird reasons).
re: #255 by Eliana

re: #256 by Number6
Well, I think they believed Bibi when he said that a UNSC discussion or support for the Gaza war report would collapse the entire peace process.
Bibi told them that there was no way that the Israeli people would ever be willing to make risks for peace again if Israel is going to be prosecuted for defending her people from the consequences of taking such risks.
Bibi pretty much told them that the peace process would die completely if the UNSC supports the Gaza war report (and he meant it).

If that is correct, then it is one of the more encouraging things I have heard from the UN in a long time. But..why do Russia China and France care? What’s in it for them?

They still think a peace agreement is possible. They think that such an agreement would help stabilize things in the Middle East and elsewhere.
They’ve also had to deal with Islamist terrorists themselves. So they have an idea what Israel was up against with Hamas in Gaza.

Jews & Christians are natural allies. People of good will rally to Israel.
Here is the problem , Obama is not pro Israel.
I don’t think that he actually likes Jews & Christians in general.
That Balck Liberation Church that he & the family attended in Chicago is not Christian.
I never heard that kind of hate sperwed from the pulpit in my parish

The fact that so many Americans are scared to death of being labeled racists is the only thing preventing Obama’s approval rating from being in the negative column.
OK. That’s it.
I’m canceling my daily newspaper.

New Unemployment Claims Rise More Than Expected to 531,000
The Labor Department said new jobless claims rose to a seasonally adjusted 531,000 last week, from an upwardly revised 520,000 the previous week. Wall Street economists had expected only a slight increase, according to Thomson Reuters.

What’s this?
Iran’s deputy parliament speaker on Thursday dismissed an internationally backed draft plan to have Teheran ship its uranium abroad for enrichment.
Mohammad Reza Bahonar was quoted by the official IRNA news agency as saying Iran “doesn’t accept” the offer, drummed up at a nuclear meeting in Vienna.
Following three-day talks in the Austrian capital, Iran said it would decide on the plan on shipping its uranium to Russia for enrichment.
Bahonar’s remark is the first reaction on the draft in Teheran. But he does not speak for the government, which is to decide on the mat

If the Republicans nominate someone like Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams or Ken Blackwell and the Dems demonize them, are they racist?
If the Republicans nominate Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin or Janice Rogers Brown and the Dems don’t fall at their feet, are they sexist?
Of course not! Democrats can’t POSSIBLY be racist or sexist. The problem is, Tom, Walt, Ken, Ann, Michelle & Janice aren’t really black or female. (Both, in Janice’s case).
Chaz is pimping Amazon again. At the bottom of his thread he has this
“(Note: If you buy anything at Amazon by clicking these links, you don’t just get great deals — you also help support LGF, because we get a small piece of the purchase price through the Amazon Associates program. It’s a win-win, as they say in the biz.)”

re: #340 by mawskrat
Actually, I think that most of the morning crew is either here or C2 or both.
Late last night I heard on the radio news that certain medical diagnostic tests were no longer considered of value in treating disease. They mentioned yearly mammograms, prostate checkups and some other procedures. The first thing that occurred to me was, this is how it starts. Conditioning people to expect less, so when the gov’t takes over H.C. they will have already scaled back what the public has become used to.
It is not going to be possible for 300 million people in this country to get adequate H.C. from the greedy bureaucrats who dole out the money.
There will be so many cuts in service.

And we all know where they would be coming from:
THE LEFT!
That’s where the real racists/bigots/homophobes are. Even 1.0 knows this, but are too busy trying to paint the right as racists, when they’ve owned it lock, stock, and barrel.

I was thinking about how gov’t H.C. demoralizes citizens. Just look at Britain where people with cancer die because of the waiting not the disease itself. Imagine the days going by and the mass in your lung or gut, growing. Or think of the person whose teeth are rotting out because gov’t dentists have met their quota of patients. And old people who are last on the list for everything.
This is a horrid predicament for human beings. It totally crushes the human spirit. It makes for a weak and pliable, subservient population who wait, cap in hand, banking on empty gov’t promises.

I’m just going to note that anyone who’s offended by my dislike for Sarah Palin is going to be in for some rough years ahead. I believe she’s one of the worst examples of a right wing politician in many years, and if you think I’m harsh now, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

What I remember is that CJ would make a rules proclamation deep in the middle of a thread somewhere to say that people who did X or who brought up Y would be banned from now on.
Along comes a hapless person on another thread an hour or a day later, and he does X or brings up Y.
The person is banned without ever knowing why.
There was no way to keep up with the new rules for banning unless someone obsessed over reading every single thing CJ wrote on his blog.
This is how CJ ended up nearly alone over there with Sharmuta, Iceweasel and Killgore.
re: #71 by Palandine
Penn Jillette, had a moving YouTube recently where he talked about the pain of being demeaned by Tommy Smothers, a man he idolized
I liked Instapundit’s response to that: maybe you should think twice before making anybody an “idol.” They’ll always let you down.
I greatly admired CJ too back in the day. But Reynolds is right. You can like people and admire things they do but putting them on a pedestal isn’t good for either you or them.
Our country is hurting right now because the MSM has become a collection of Obama fans rather than watchdogs. They convinced 53% of the population to vote for “American Idol” last November and we are all imperiled as a result.
Bambi wouldn’t be so damn thin-skinned if he had had fewer guilty white followers idolizing him and more plain speakers around him willing to raise the BS flag when necessary.
