We are winning! Senators/Congressmen are dropping out of J Street’s Annual “Gala” like flies!

Blogmocracy in Action

Guest Blogger:Delectable

This post is meant to inspire you all to further action. On Friday, I posted a call to action for Blogmocracy readers, to email their senators/congressmen, telling them to drop out of the J Street Annual Gala. Please read that post right here. It contains critical information about J Street!

I wanted to let you all know that this advocacy has been working and WE ARE WINNING!

Just check out what the Weekly Standard has to say:

The names of Reps. John Salazar (CO-03) and Ed Towns (NY-10) have been scrubbed from the list of congressmen serving on the host committee for J Street’s inaugural conference. That brings to ten the number of congressmen, Republicans and Democrats, senators and representatives, who have bailed on J Street after learning that, contrary to their promotional materials, they are not a pro-Israel group. Apparently even the Friday afternoon roll out of Jim Jones as the conference’s keynote speaker — an announcement that J Street surely would have preferred to make on Monday but which they were compelled to move up lest their entire roster of Congressional supporters defect en masse — wasn’t enough to stanch the bleeding. The tally of defections so far:

Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR)
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)
Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY)
Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS)
Rep. Mike Castle (R-DE)
Rep. Mike Ross (D-AR)
Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX)
Rep. Leonard Boswell (D-IA)
Rep. John Salazar (D-CO)
Rep. Ed Towns (D-NY)

Among the members who remain on that list there are a few who aren’t likely to hang around much longer. Senator Mark Udall is too savvy to be caught up in this mess. Will Senator Mark Pryor really go to the mat for an anti-Israel, pro-Hamas organization? And what about Republican Reps. Charles Boustany, Brian Bilbray, and Howard Coble? Are there large anti-Israel constituencies in those districts of which I was previously unaware?

I doubt those three are even aware their names are on this list, but after watching J Street speaker Josh Healey’s rousing performance of “Queer Intifada” in which he declares that “Guantanamo is Auschwitz” and “Anne Frank is Matthew Shepard,” I’m pretty confident they will ask to have their names removed.

Healey also wrote a poem about how “We’re the ones writing numbers on the wrists of babies born in the ghetto called Gaza.” A few weeks ago in his speech to the UN, Israeli PM Bibi Netanyahu drew some very obvious parallels between the Iranian regime and Nazi Germany. The anti-Israel left went nuts (see Andrew Sullivan here, Juan Cole here, and Philip Weiss here, for example), but here is a J Street confederate who compares Israel and the United States to Nazi Germany every time he picks up a pen. Even by the left’s own standards this kind of thing is beyond the pale. What member of Congress can attach his name to an event where the speakers will accuse the United States of running a concentration camp at Guantanamo?

Our advocacy is WORKING! Please continue to write to your senators/congressmen and keep up the pressure on J Street!

Already J Street is complaining of the scary “neocons” who are running them out of town! Poor, poor progressive babies!

The updated list of senators/congressmen attending J Street is right here. Please check if your senator/congressman is on the list!

We cannot let this progressive organization succeed in re-defining the English language!

MSNBC has nothing but left-leaning hosts some of which are obviously peddling unfair characterizations of conservatives and their intents. That doesn’t cause me to say they aren’t a legitimate news organization.

Shawn Hannity doesn’t tell Fox News what news to cover as I’m sure Rachel Maddow doesn’t either over at MSNBC.

And those who say Chaves actually does close media outlets evidently do not realize how it started there. It was first a war of accusations and words just like this.

Dovish Jews? They love Israel? Excommunicate them

    By Bradley Burston

    http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1122104.html

We don’t need them. They’ll never see things our way, no matter what. Let them go

Among these counterparts, it develops, is J Street, the new dovish lobbying organization which describes itself as pro-Israel and pro-peace. Writing ahead of J Street’s first annual national conference, which begins on Sunday in Washington, Liebler argued that although J Street and other U.S. Jewish groups critical of Israel may describe themselves as Zionist, “their prime objective is to pressure the U.S. government to use ‘tough love’ against Israel – a euphemism for demanding that the Jewish state make further unilateral concessions to neighbors pledged to its annihilation.”

    Good article: Read it.

I see that one of my senators, Jim Webb (VA), is on that list.

I have heard rumors that he is, in fact, an old-fashioned antisemite. RUMORS, folks, just rumors. I have heard that the main reason macho-military Webb was so opposed to the Iraq War had to do with a belief that it was somehow a war “for Israel.” (Beats me how so, but…)

I repeat that this is a RUMOR, and one of my sources is not always reliable.

In any case, I will write Webb politely to show my displeasure with his support of J-Street. I have also sent this to other pro-Israel friends in the state, asking them to contact Webb.

What is being said? Is there any credibility to the assertions?

Folks, to engage in sophomoric name-calling might make some feel better, but it is, in the end, counter-productive. Many of us left LGF because of the ideas that were being promulgated in addition to its tactless moderator. We should be striving to win the battle of ideas and not act like a group of neighborhood kids sticking their tongues out at the mean old man who lives down the block.

Denigrating CJ and the others only plays into their “see what they’re saying about us now” arguments.

    Hiya!

Groan! Most of them are! It a DISGRACE!!!

    Senate
    The Honorable Jim Webb (VA)

    House
    The Honorable Gerry Connolly (VA-11)
    The Honorable James Moran (VA-08)
    The Honorable Glenn Nye (VA-02)
    The Honorable Tom Perriello (VA-05)

I think we have just one (Conklin?) that’s NOT on that list. Disgusting!

    ATTN MEMPHIS AREA

I guess it is NOT safe to vote for this guy. From the J-Street website:

Over $30,000 Raised for Rep. Steve Cohen

Take Action Posted: Oct 14, 2009

JStreetPAC is proud to announce that we have raised over $30,000 for Congressman Steve Cohen’s reelection campaign from over 300 JStreetPAC supporters, as he faces a tough reelection fight in his Memphis, TN district.

Congressman Cohen has consistently demonstrated his pro-Israel, pro-peace credentials in Congress. As a lead signatory on a key letter backing President Obama’s balanced approach to resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Cohen consistently advocates for strong American leadership to achieve a two-state solution.

American leadership, from both President Obama and Congress, is sorely needed if we are to finally realize the dream of a safe, secure, Jewish, democratic Israel. We will continue to stand with members of Congress who share JStreetPAC’s commitment to secure Israel’s future through strong American leadership in pursuit of a two-state solution.

I admit that I know nothing about this guy, but if J-Street is going to go to bat to get him elected, that says a lot to me. …and they will know you by your friends….

Yes, there is no more free speech at LGF.
What bothers me more is that his obsession with the right has led him to exclude very serious news on the foreign policy front. Now Limbaugh, or the comments at Hotair are the the world’s most pressing issues, not Obama’s fumbling with Russia or Iran.
Of course, he avoids foreign policy because it’s virtually impossible to defend Obama in that arena.

    re: #112 by Rodan

Scratch a J-street’r (or most of the “Pro-Israel” left) and you will find an Oslo re-do’r – when asked how to resolve the Arab-Israel conflict, they will rehash the Oslo Accords (nearly act by act). They have learned nothing from the failed Oslo, and similar attempts at peace with the Arab crocodile. It is amazing to me that even though what they want has been tried and failed, they still stick to it with a sort of religious fanaticism. They cannot see that their way was tried & FAILED miserably, leading to “intifadas”.

What they claim is “fresh” thinking, is nothing but the old “two state” at ALL costs mishagaus that was Oslo.

The best thing CJ did over at LGF was his addition of the member submitted news feeds at the top of the page.

    Missed your comment, sleeping….up now.

Yeah, the State of……, I heard it from a barber in Brookline first.

Oddly enough though, I moved here for the taxes, at least the schools that is….doesn’t everybody. I had no idea PA Townships could tax earned income until I got the bill. Real Estate agent left that one out. taxes at a local level don’t bother me as much as Federally, at least you can move when the pols get stupid. The whole high school bond thing is leaving a bad taste in my mouth though. I guess they want to push people out to St.Clair on that one.

I’m near Dormont and Lincoln, and coincidently per your DC toss was raised in western Faifax County. My wife bought a bloc of 5 tickets from a lease holder for her firm this year. Made it to the Browns game due to a late cancellation by a client. I did the playoffs last year… my first NFL games since the Skins back when my father had tickets in the seventies and eighties.

No samuri sword, but I’m thinking about a suppresed rifle for the tires of the cars that come down my street at 6am at fifty miles an hour blowing stop signs to miss the lights on Cocoran.

Is this your old LGF handle? I was a June 04 register with my old nic.
