Scanning through my favorite HQ for drama yesterday, I couldn’t help but think of this…
- Busking
- Busking is the practice of performing in public places for tips and gratuities. People engaging in this practice are called buskers or street performers. Busking performances can be just about anything that people find entertaining….
…when I saw this:
I dunno about you guys, but that right there…. gave me pause. I’ve been all around the blogosphere, but maybe I hadn’t given it much thought in the past. There are quite a few full-time bloggers out there that make ends meet this way. More power to ‘em, I say, since there are definitely a lot worse ways to live, and I think most people like the idea of being their own boss. I’ve never seen any of these high-profile bloggers actually state that they’d prefer to do this strictly begging for tips, however. I thought about it some more, and I think I came to understand the rationale.
After all, if you picture this:
One has to assume that this guy is eventually going to realize that he kinda looks ridiculous, to the point where he’d want to rip up the silly Amazon logos and stop shilling for the Kindle™. A true busker at heart would, right? While I suspect many bloggers take some pride in the advertising deals they land, a real busker-blogger would sever as many big corporate connections as possible. It would make sense that the ultimate goal of these bloggers would be to build up a congregation of readers and get to the point where they are sustained solely on the proceeds of the tip jar. In that respect, the status of exclusively busking could be viewed as the pinnacle of blogging. Free. Pure. Rarefied, even.
(The goal might be little harder to achieve when everyone and their brother is being banned/blocked from the site. On the other hand, maybe the revenue generated through the subsequent butt-kissing more than makes up for the lost $$.)
In any case, after much soul-searching, I finally admitted to myself that CJ’s site has provided a great deal of entertainment to me over the past few years. Plus, I can’t resist the thought of helping someone who’s reaching for their dream, so last night I busted out the PayPal account one more time.
Join me in helping this aspiring busker out!

i say we, here at 2.0, donate to keep chuckster and 1.0 alive so we can continue to beat on them and use them as examples of how not to run a blog, or how not to be a good human being.
after all, they do give us some great ammo!
We’ll he’s learning economics 101 the hard way…you can not remove the productive people from your kingdom and expect to prosper.
pre 2004 if I were a member of that blog I would have properly contributed because of the cause in which the blog stood for. Now with all the anti Christian hatred on his site he should be blessed that I give him a hit once in a while.
“Congregation”
Ouch.
Great post, ChenZhen!
I like that comment that came in the paypal thingee. rofl!
“…I give him a hit once in a while.”
Ah. That explains a lot. Must be some strong stuff, davehm.

15 newbies and 3 socks already.
There’ll be more socks. The stalkers have a thread up attacjing you by saying you’re begging for change (despite the fact that you put paid to that rumor quite handily). They’re liable to try to slip in right now to attack you. Losers.
Hi Dark_Falcon!
The new registrations are people looking for free E-Books.

ot 59 to 0 is that a record?
He wants a socialist utopia! Or is it a cult where it’s members support the “church”?? That dude is seriously whacked in the membrane. He wants to “take off all the advertisements” in return for begging from his followers? Umm, chuck…that’s called “mooching”. It’s seems the pinnacle of REAL success would be garnering the attention and business of serious corporations etc. through advertising because you have a successful blog. And when you get REALLY big you get to have businesses FIGHTING to advertise with you and you get to pick and choose who will ad on your blog. The fact that cj has to take Beck’s money is because he doesn’t enjoy such success. He has to take what he can get, hence he would rather live off his minions and save face. Man…just imagine the daily pressure the folks over there feel to “donate”. He’s worse than a telephone solicitor.
I would LOVE to give cj my .02, but I’m afraid he would access my personal info if I did. He’s proven to be unscrupulous, you know.
spread the word to Freepers!
Thinking about giving LGF my 2 cents.
Actually, when I think about all the good times I had at the pre-Cult LGF, I regret not hitting the tip jar. But after the way I was disappeared, it’s just TFB.
Now, I say, Jip the tit har!
Don’t most of Charlie’s biggest fans cry poor-mouth all the time?
It must tear Sharmuta up to know that IceWeevil might be pouring more money into Charlie’s coffers than she is.
Maybe Shamu will get a second (first?) job just to hit the tip jar.
Ten bucks a month for a “subscription” to LGF, eh? He’s become L. Ron Johnson peddling his Charlesanetics ™ lifesystem. Pay me to abuse you, lemmings!
And you know this exactly how, D(oo)F?
re: #20 by jeppo
Yeah, he’s really putting the pressure on people over there claiming that “only four” have signed up.
I made at least a few pay pal donations in the past. Never received a Thank You, but then I never needed one either.
At the time I was more than happy to hit the tip jar voluntarily since I really enjoyed the site.
I believe in the free market system and I wouldn’t financially support them now since I don’t support the direction they’ve taken. But they are free to take it and I wish em all the best in their fund raising efforts though I think they are sunk
Another thing. So many lizards were the type of people who would donate money to total strangers ( our cyber friends ) who were in need. I gave money or other assets to lizards I’d never met and did so happily.
Lots of us did so.
As far as I know most of those folks are, as Ernie Harwell said so well, Loooooong Gooone!
Something tells me the die-hards left there are the cheap ones or those that are broke.
It’s never a good business plan to alienate your paying customers in favor of the freeloaders.

That played a part in my decision to move the post up a few hours tonight.
And I say no to socks.

I may start requiring people who register to post at least one comment immediately after registering to introduce themselves. If they don’t post a comment within an hour, their account would be blocked.
Haven’t decided on this for sure yet.
I like it as an ice-breaker, if nothing else. Shar likes to ask “What drew you to LGF?”.
What drew me to LGF was the chance to tell you to go **** yourself you KOSsack douche bag.
the regulars prolly pay for their ’scriptions the using the h. milk method.

I, for one, do not mind the adverts at all. Indeed, hopefully we can all work together to bring even more hits to LGF, so that you can attract advertisers willing to pay more for being seen here.
I hope CJ isn’t expecting money from this cheap skate! lol
re: #23 by Shug
I was so glad to finally register at LGF (about a year ago) that I was ready to hit the tip jar with a decent amount. Within a couple weeks of logging on, I had a negative 300 Karma, most of the “downdings” (which I had never even heard of before) from Charlie himself.
Needless to say, I never gave him one red cent.
Yes a year ago LGF ws still a sane place that was not hospitable towards moonbats!

Wow I can’t believe I just joined LGF. This time last year it would have been unimaginable, but it has become one I now often read.
I would hazard that dumping the bulk of your longtime contributors with the greatest possible acrimony and then going into PBS Pledge Mode is a business model that gives the Underpants Gnomes a run for their money.

I remember that. I was surprised you lasted as long as you did.
re: #27 by Speranza
“Shar likes to ask “What drew you to LGF?”.”
I am sure the longtime account security and open exchange of ideas are attractions for many.
re: #37 by buzzsawmonkey
I came to LGF to enjoy the free and open exchanges of ideas and opinions.
re: #37 by buzzsawmonkey
Hey Buzz – glad to see you. Maybe you remember me.
re: #38 by Speranza
I took over this blog to piss off CJ.
Guess I did better than expected, huh?
re: #38 by Speranza
So did I. Then that feature was dumped in favor of mandatory airbags.
Damn, but why doesn’t he try a fund drive the way Andrew Sullivan does. I find it hard to believe he wouldn’t rack up at least what Sullivan does (of course, Sully isn’t a full time blogger on that, now is he?). Obviously he doesn’t think it would be benificial, but on LGF every day is a fund-raiser what with the “Donate Please” on every post.
I wouldn’t send him the $0.02. I gave him pleanty when I was over there. No need for me to give any more when I am not.

re: #46 by Iron Fist
overlord?…..
If I were an evil overlord
The aditional 131 things I’d Do If I Ever Became An Evil Overlord
——————————————————————————–
I will not order my trusted lieutenant to kill the infant who is destined to overthrow me — I’ll do it myself.
I will not waste time making my enemy’s death look like an accident — I’m not accountable to anyone and my other enemies wouldn’t believe it.
I will make it clear that I do know the meaning of the word “mercy”; I simply choose not show them any.
My undercover agents will not have tattoos identifying them as members of my organization, nor will they be required to wear military boots or adhere to any other dress codes.
I will design all doomsday machines myself. If I must hire a mad scientist to assist me, I will make sure that he is sufficiently twisted to never regret his evil ways and seek to undo the damage he’s caused.
If my supreme command center comes under attack, I will immediately flee to safety in my prepared escape pod and direct the defenses from there. I will not wait until the troops break into my inner sanctum to attempt this.
Even though I don’t really care because I plan on living forever, I will hire engineers who are able to build me a fortress sturdy enough that, if I am slain, it won’t tumble to the ground for no good structural reason.
Any and all magic and/or technology that can miraculously resurrect a secondary character who has given up his/her life through self sacrifice will be outlawed and destroyed.
I will see to it that plucky young lads/lasses in strange clothes and with the accent of an outlander shall REGULARLY climb some monument in the main square of my capital and denounce me, claim to know the secret of my power, rally the masses to rebellion, etc. That way, the citizens will be jaded in case the real thing ever comes along.
I will not employ devious schemes that involve the hero’s party getting into my inner sanctum before the trap is sprung.
I will offer oracles the choice of working exclusively for me or being executed.
I will not rely entirely upon “totally reliable” spells that can be neutralized by relatively inconspicuous talismans.
I will make the main entrance to my fortress standard-sized. While elaborate 60-foot high double-doors definitely impress the masses, they are hard to close quickly in an emergency.
I will never accept a challenge from the hero.
I will not engage an enemy single-handedly until all my soldiers are dead.
If I capture the hero’s starship, I will keep it in the landing bay with the ramp down, only a few token guards on duty and a ton of explosives set to go off as soon as it clears the blast-range.
No matter how much I want revenge, I will never order an underling “Leave him. He’s mine!”
If I have equipment which performs an important function, it will not be activated by a lever that someone could trigger by accidentally falling on when fatally wounded.
I will not attempt to kill the hero by placing a venomous creature in his room. It will just wind up accidentally killing one of my clumsy henchmen instead.
Since nothing is more irritating than a hero defeating you with basic math skills, all of my personal weapons will be modified to fire one more shot than the standard issue.
If I come into possession of an artifact which can only be used by the pure of heart, I will not attempt to use it regardless.
The gun turrets on my fortress will not rotate enough so that they may direct fire inward or at each other.
If I decide to hold a contest of skill open to the general public, contestants will be required to remove their hooded cloaks and shave their beards before entering.
Prior to kidnapping an older male scientist and forcing him to work for me, I will investigate his offspring and make sure that he has neither a beautiful but naive daughter who is willing to risk anything to get him back, nor an estranged son who works in the same field but had a falling-out with his father many years ago.
Should I actually decide to kill the hero in an elaborate escape-proof deathtrap room (water filling up, sand pouring down, walls converging, etc.) I will not leave him alone five-to-ten minutes prior to “imminent” death, but will instead (finding a vantage point or monitoring camera) stick around and enjoy watching my adversary’s demise.
Rather than having only one secret escape pod, which the hero can easily spot and follow, I’ll simultaneously launch a few dozen decoys to throw him off track.
Prison guards will have their own cantina featuring a wide variety of tasty treats that will deliver snacks to the guards while on duty. The guards will also be informed that accepting food or drink from any other source will result in execution.
I will not employ robots as agents of destruction if there is any possible way that they can be re-programmed or if their battery packs are externally mounted and easily removable.
Despite the delicious irony, I will not force two heroes to fight each other in the arena.
All members of my Legions of Terror will have professionally tailored uniforms. If the hero knocks a soldier unconscious and steals the uniform, the poor fit will give him away.
I will never place the key to a cell just out of a prisoner’s reach.
Before appointing someone as my trusted lieutenant, I will conduct a thorough background investigation and security clearance.
If I find my beautiful consort with access to my fortress has been associating with the hero, I’ll have her executed. It’s regrettable, but new consorts are easier to get than new fortresses and maybe the next one will pay attention at the orientation meeting.
If I am escaping in a large truck and the hero is pursuing me in a small Italian sports car, I will not wait for the hero to pull up along side of me and try to force him off the road as he attempts to climb aboard. Instead I will slam on the brakes when he’s directly behind me. (A rudimentary knowledge of physics can prove quite useful.)
My doomsday machine will have a highly-advanced technological device called a capacitor in case someone inconveniently pulls the plug at the last second. (If I have access to REALLY advanced technology, I will include a back-up device known as a battery.)
If I build a bomb, I will simply remember which wire to cut if it has to be deactivated and make every wire red.
Before spending available funds on giant gargoyles, gothic arches, or other cosmetically intimidating pieces of architecture, I will see if there are any valid military expenditures that could use the extra budget.
The passageways to and within my domain will be well-lit with fluorescent lighting. Regrettably, the spooky atmosphere will be lost, but my security patrols will be more effective.
If I’m sitting in my camp, hear a twig snap, start to investigate, then encounter a small woodland creature, I will send out some scouts anyway just to be on the safe side. (If they disappear into the foliage, I will not send out another patrol; I will break out the napalm.)
I will instruct my guards when checking a cell that appears empty to look for the chamber pot. If the chamber pot is still there, then the prisoner has escaped and they may enter and search for clues. If the chamber pot is not there, then either the prisoner is perched above the lintel waiting to strike them with it or else he decided to take it as a souvenir (in which case he is obviously deeply disturbed and poses no threat). Either way, there’s no point in entering.
As an alternative to not having children, I will have lots of children. My sons will be too busy jockeying for position to ever be a real threat, and the daughters will all sabotage each other’s attempts to win the hero.
If I have children and subsequently grandchildren, I will keep my three-year-old granddaughter near me at all times. When the hero enters to kill me, I will ask him to first explain to her why it is necessary to kill her beloved grandpa. When the hero launches into an explanation of morality way over her head, that will be her cue to pull the lever and send him into the pit of crocodiles. After all, small children like crocodiles almost as much as Evil Overlords and it’s important to spend quality time with the grandkids.
If one of my daughters actually manages to win the hero and openly defies me, I will congratulate her on her choice, declare a national holiday to celebrate the wedding, and proclaim the hero my heir. This will probably be enough to break up the relationship. If not, at least I am assured that no hero will attack my Legions of Terror when they are holding a parade in his honor.
I will order my guards to stand in a line when they shoot at the hero so he cannot duck and have them accidentally shoot each other. Also, I will order some to aim above, below, and to the sides so he cannot jump out of the way.
My dungeon cell decor will not feature exposed pipes. While they add to the gloomy atmosphere, they are good conductors of vibrations and a lot of prisoners know Morse code.
If my surveillance reports any unmanned or seemingly innocent ships found where they are not supposed to be, they will be immediately vaporized instead of brought in for salvage.
I will classify my lieutenants in three categories: untrusted, trusted, and completely trusted. Promotion to the third category will be awarded posthumously.
Before ridiculing my enemies for wasting time on a device to stop me that couldn’t possibly work, I will first acquire a copy of the schematics and make sure that in fact it couldn’t possibly work.
Ropes supporting various fixtures will not be tied next to open windows or staircases, and chandeliers will be hung way at the top of the ceiling.
I will provide funding and research to develop tactical and strategic weapons covering a full range of needs so my choices are not limited to “hand to hand combat with swords” and “blow up the planet”.
I will not set myself up as a god. That perilous position is reserved for my trusted lieutenant.
I will instruct my fashion designer that when it comes to accessorizing, second-chance body armor goes well with every outfit.
My Legions of Terror will be an equal-opportunity employer. Conversely, when it is prophesized that no man can defeat me, I will keep in mind the increasing number of non-traditional gender roles.
I will instruct my Legions of Terror in proper search techniques. In particular, if they are searching for escapees and someone shouts, “Quick! They went that way!”, they must first ascertain the identity of this helpful informant before dashing off in hot pursuit.
If I know of any heroes in the land, I will not under any circumstance kill their mentors, teachers, and/or best friends.
If I have the hero and his party trapped, I will not wait until my Superweapon charges to finish them off if more conventional means are available.
Whenever plans are drawn up that include a time-table, I’ll post-date the completion 3 days after it’s actually scheduled to occur and not worry too much if they get stolen.
re: #40 by savage
Congratulations. I’d say you’ve been successfully pissing in his cornflakes for at least the last year. Probably longer than that. I assume he felt the piss a long time before he designated us stalkers.
LGF is openly supportive of Obama now [to be against any of Obama's policies is to be racist and to root against America] so maybe CJ thought Hope and Change meant quarters would be thrown in his guitar case.
re: #47 by Pianobuff
Jules Feiffer surely did, for the Dancer in his comics.
re: #31 by Lincolntf
I registered over 3 years ago. It was the roaring twenties if you will.
You came in on the decline.
I always liked your comments though
re: #54 by sharon
That’s why they have a bone through the nose to pick with so many people.
re: #36 by Nikis Knight
Heh. I’m surprised, too.
I was going to try to make a full year in the madhouse, but I just couldn’t do it. I knew he was insane when I mentioned the bear/whale thing (a Darwin mistake that is legendary in Natural History circles) and he called me a Creationist. I realized then that the dude had never even read Darwin!
After that I knew CJ was a chump and a fraud, but I tried my best to stick around so I could chat with some of the regulars.
So now we need to write letters of introduction.
Well, I always wanted to be one of the cool kids at little green footsballs, cuz you’re all so awesome!!!11 OMG ponies!!!111 I can’t believe I’m really in!!!!!11. I always wanted to meet all of you, Sharm, Hose, asswhistle, Kilgore, it’s a dream come true!!!!!11 And Charles, you can blow in my ear any time!!!!!111

re: #25 by savage
Prolly. Falcon’s gotta be in there somewhere. If so, one of them is ducking their tithe.
re: #53 by Iron Fist
Once I had a tomcat who was upset with me in the middle of the night. At about 4 a.m., he jumped on me in bed. I was just awake enough to know that he jumped up, but it wasn’t until I started feeling something warm that I realized that he wasn’t up there to cuddle.
I think Chucky’s feeling Savage’s warmth, it just hasn’t hit him yet what that means.
re: #63 by savage
That’s one’s never really bothered me. I’ll consider the source and, unless I’m in a really bad mood something like that will slide (if I’m in a really bad move no one who has the observation skills of
James Carvila Blind Mole Rat will say dick to me. Leave that alone and go poke at a hornet’s nest with a short stick instead). I will say, people are a lot freer with insults in a virtual setting…re: #27 by Speranza
Oh yeah…the “initial interrogation” question. And she tries to sound so sweet….
Shit…move == mood, of course
re: #67 by Iron Fist
that one is good
I like this one also
I will provide funding and research to develop tactical and strategic weapons covering a full range of needs so my choices are not limited to “hand to hand combat with swords” and “blow up the planet”.
re: #66 by DEZ
He gets all the science he needs from Exxonsecrets.org. If it’s not there, you don’t need to know it.
Can the Jets pull this off? Maybe not, IT.
re: #67 by Iron Fist
Charles for the most part ignored me, or so I thought.
But I did ignore him, many posters had opinions I was interested in, but his were platitudes and useless.
He uses snark when someone disagrees with him, or asks for an explanation, and that is the first sign that he has no idea what the hell he is talking about.
re: #75 by rain of lead
This all sounds like dialogue invented by the screenwriters during the doomed last season of Star Trek.
re: #78 by DEZ
Snark is an art form. Chucky’s not an artist. Maybe that’s why he banned Iowahawk. It was making his lame attempts at snark look so dilettante.
re: #76 by snork
Einstein, Hawkings, etc. are not on his list.
They must be RACISTS!
re: #80 by snork
I stand corrected, Chuckles just came of as an illiterate prick.
re: #80 by snork
Did he actually BAN Cox & Forkum or did he jsut stop using them?
re: #79 by Pianobuff
oh no, it’s the evil overlords list
there is a section for starfleet captains
Vows every Starfleet captain should take
——————————————————————————–
I will design my ship’s tactical systems so that I do not have to personally direct every single shot fired.
I will put surge suppressors in the circuitry of my ship, so that a shot striking some distant portion does not cause a control panel on the bridge to explode.
I will design my ships so that command and control functions cannot be hot-wired from a wall panel in the recreation bay.
I will design redundancy into all ship systems, so that the loss of one component will not cripple the entire vessel.
When combat is imminent, my ships’ computer will be programmed so that enemy troops that beam aboard will be immediately beamed into empty space, or the originating ship’s reactor core, if that is accessible. It will also deliver a kilo of antimatter to the bridge of the ship in question.
When the enemy ship decloaks and is arming weapons, I will immediately open fire on it, instead of waiting for it to fire three or four times.
When a comrade defects to the enemy, I will have all passwords changed, and as soon as it is practical I will have the computer disconnected, its memory flushed, and the approved software reloaded from the original secured CD-ROMs.
Anyone who cannot be entertained by books, music, a good game of cards and a well-stocked bar will not be allowed to crew my ship. Hence there will be no need for a holodeck on my ship.
After capturing a space station from an enemy, I will have the enemy’s computer systems completely removed, melted down into slag, and dumped into the nearest stellar object. A new computer will then be installed.
If a crew member is a sanctimonious coward who continually gets us all into trouble through his greed, I shall, after the third or fourth episode of this behavior, act to preserve myself and other comrades only, and let him be destroyed by the mess he made for himself.
Under no circumstance will I agree to not develop or employ any particular technology.
If I have a technologically superior foe who is intent on eliminating my whole civilization, and I am offered a means of utterly annihilating this foe for all time, I will use it.
I will install seatbelts in my space vessels, and have pressure suits and pressure locks at regular intervals.
Technology that chronically malfunctions will be removed from my ship.
To prevent my on-board computer from being reprogrammed by every Tom, Dick and Harry that sneaks on board, its software will be stored in ROM chips that are soldered to the motherboard; RAM will be reserved for data only.
I will design the greatest possible degree of manual back-up into my space vessels, so that when my on-board computer begins to act strangely, I can power it down via a switch located next to my seat on the bridge, and yet not be left totally helpless.
I will never allow someone to read the technical manuals and blueprints of my ship unless they work in engineering or operations and therefore have a need-to-know. All personnel will be properly cleared prior to assignment to engineering or operations. The technical manuals and blueprints of totally fictitious craft will be freely available.
If my starship’s drive or weapons systems require lengthy charge times between uses, I shall research and develop equipment that can handle a heavier duty cycle.
My ship’s computer will have a clock rate of at least one megahertz and be programmed in C or assembler so that important calculations take a few milliseconds instead of an hour or so.
If a member of my crew can perfectly mimic my voice giving the commands to take control of my ship, additional security measures they cannot mimic will be added, such as palmprints or retinal scans.
If my ship is constantly being bugged/robbed/invaded/taken over, I will replace my security officer, no matter how cool a character he is.
If knowledge of the operating frequency of a ship’s system aids in efforts to disable that system, I will employ an arcane development known as “frequency-hopping.”
Before allowing crewmembers to take leave on a planet, I will ensure that they are welcome and that its government recognizes legal precepts like The Rule of Law, Trial by Jury, Presumption of Innocence, and so forth. I will also learn all of the local laws so that one of my crewmembers doesn’t end up on death row for scratching his nose in public or some other stupid thing.
If one of my crewmembers is unjustly imprisoned and/or condemned, and the officials with whom I speak express a marked disinterest in his actual guilt or innocence, I will not waste time trying to gather evidence that will exonerate the crewmember. Instead, I will immediately mount a rescue mission.
When beaming into hostile territory I will instruct my transporter chief to beam me into a defensible position, with the landing party facing outwards in a circle. I will have my weapon in my hand (not my pocket) before I beam down.
If I beam off of a vessel that is still hostile, I will arrange to leave behind as large an explosive device as I can obtain.
I will not have both rotating and non-rotating sections on a ship. If I need rotational gravity, I will spin the whole ship. Any navigational computer that cannot deal with this will be replaced with one that can.
I will follow the advice of my Chief Medical Officer. If I am not at 100% of my usual level of physical fitness, I will stick to desk duty unless the fate of something genuinely important hangs in the balance.
I will assume that all super-weapons are operational until proven otherwise, especially if they appear to be unguarded.
All critical data and software will be backed up in off-line storage.
A random alien’s claims about his/her/its race’s cultural values and attitudes will be given no more credence than a random human’s claims about human cultural values and attitudes.
My crew shall be trained in the fine arts of tactical combat, such as dispersing assets, walking point, advance guards, flank guards, rear guards, etc.
I will not throw infantry into close-quarter combat with creatures of leviathan stature, but shall turn such affairs over to the artillery crew.
If my ship is whisked to the far side of the galaxy, leaving us with a seventy-year journey home, and a super-being offers to take us home instantly in exchange for having his baby, I’ll agree and ask what we can get for two babies.
If anyone beams down and their personal communicator drops carrier, all life forms within ten meters of the last known location shall be beamed directly to the brig. A large well-armed security detail will be waiting.
The people in charge of Sick Bay, Engineering, and R&D will not be the only people staffing those functions, nor shall they accompany away teams.
I will not ask “What does God need with a space ship?” and then order a torpedo strike. I will order the torpedo strike first, and ponder theology on the trip home.
My people will be assigned duties commensurate with their skills. I will not task pilots with leading a ground assault, infiltrating enemy camps, etc.
If I board a derelict ship, and it appears that the former crew and passengers all died in some horrible fashion, I will immediately leave the ship, destroy it, and toss the wreckage into the nearest stellar object.
If I am in red alert status and discover that it was a false alarm, I will stay in red alert for a while before standing down.
Anyone I imprison will be stripped, scanned, and given a prison uniform. This will prevent them from assembling weapons from pieces hidden in their regular clothes.
Any crew member who begins to act strangely will be immediately relieved of duty and confined to the sick bay, pending a complete screening to determine if their personality has been subverted.
I will not let the Whiz Kid conduct research aboard my ship. If he’s got a theory that he’s itching to test, I will deposit him on an uninhabited planet in friendly space, and make sure that I’m out of the system before he’s done unpacking.
I will not depart the starbase unless my complement of Marines are on board.
I will hold repel-boarders drills on my ship. These drills will be held at random hours so that everyone learns what they’re supposed to be doing, no matter what the circumstances.
My junior officers will be notified that Academy cadets cannot be field-commissioned, and should they come upon a ship crewed entirely by such, they will immediately take command and return them to where they can receive adult supervision.
I will never send the infantry down on missions that are better suited for orbital bombardment.
If the issued zap guns have “stun” and “kill” modes, they will be set to the former only when the user is about to fire at something that is wanted alive.
If my opponent can adapt to various forms of attack, rendering them useless, I will use some imagination and start attacking in as many radically different ways as possible.
My standing orders will allow the man I leave in charge of the bridge to raise shields and return fire if the ship is attacked while I am not on the bridge.
Everyone and everything boarding my ship will be scanned while in the airlock or on the transporter pad. Anyone with enough clout to refuse a scan will be scanned covertly.
All derelict vessels will be treated as hostile vessels playing dead.
All vessels that refuse hails will be treated as hostile.

I agree that Mao had some really great points to make and besides, he did it his way and I want to find my way and my parents are against the things Chairman Mao did but they’re stupid and far right wing and have boring jobs and stuff and I want to stop all global warming that the people are causing and maybe work for Van Jones someday when he takes the brilliant things he’s done for green technology jobs to a start up or something.”
re: #83 by savage
It would be interesting to know that answer.
I suspect he purged them, as the banner came down about the time the ban hammer started.
On the other hand they may have told him to go fork himself.
re: #84 by rain of lead
Wow – you must have spent a ton of time pondering this stuff.
Bravo.
re: #27 by Speranza
Introduce yourself immediately? Is he doubting his correlator tool? They must have an interrogation as well? LOL
that’s 3 socks through. About time for one of them to start a riot! Prolly a quick one but all the same.
re: #80 by snork
Charles is an artist just ask him, and by the way, why do I have to do all the thinking for him. Where is the compilation CD of his greatest hits. He could sell them and not have to peddle Glenn Beck books ever again, because CfnJ is soooo great. Oh, you say he rode the coattails of the real talent. Oh never mind. Just another mercenary with an axe, see’m all over in SoCal walking the streets 10 years later.

yep, waaay too much free time on my hands
re: #83 by savage
I don’t know. What I do know is that Iowahawk de-linked him, and that caused the great revenge.
I’m sure Dave’s all broke up about it.
re: #87 by DEZ
I read at another site that he has purged the dictionary as well. Removing a whole lot of the coined words and terms.
re: #86 by sharon
That comment alone is probably worth +5 now. LOL

Hah! Brain of Lead? That cut and paste hack, we keep him around for laughs. //
//Seriously though rain, loved the comics again this morning.
re: #56 by Shug
Back at ya.
The worst part of being around for the collapse of LGF was that it was so hard to tell who thought what. The fear was palpable. Impossible to tell if one was speaking to/with nobody or to 90% of the posters.
Chuckie, like most impotent men, was always eager to seize on anything that could be considered a failing. His loyal lessers would join him to make a pig-pile, and then all reason was dismissed.
Someday (probably in the “News of the Weird” column) we’re gonna hear about a femme-coiffed fatty hanging from some bowery rafter with a weasel in one hand and a lizard in the other. Poor bastard should’ve taken his pills.
re: #83 by savage
Cox & Forkum quit doing their work. Probably could google their name and get info on them.
re: #44 by Urban Infidel
Hey! Nice report. I’m hoping (cough, cough) that “takbir” stuff just means “let’s convert everyone by preaching and gentle reasoning.”
Good to see the women with the sign supporting Afghan women, no? And very good to see a Muslim event that doesn’t have Israel-trashing in it.
The floats of the Dome of the Rock and Kaaba surprised me a bit. Strictly speaking, those are “graven images,” aren’t they?
re: #94 by song_and_dance_man
Sounds about right, he has been doing lots of scrubbing to impress the Koslings.
That’s the idear, Chuckles.
re: #99 by wolfie
Wolfie? Wow, long time no see. Are you new here?
Oh wait. Wizbang suggested that he go through his dictionary and remove those terms to follow through with his new policy of deleting and banning those with disagreeable comments.
My bad.
Chuckles the buggering begger. Or is it the begging bugger?
Ah, I do love those Evil Overlord resolutions! ::grin::
Some could stand to be tightened up a bit further, but they’re still a whole lot better than the Conventional Stupidities famous in assorted plotlines.
re: #97 by Lincolntf
You’re so right.
I hadn’t been really attacked, but it was clear to me that my faith would be ridiculed. I honestly felt that if I stayed just for the “strokes” of popularity, it would be a bit like selling my soul and betraying my Christ. I know that sounds melodramatic, but it felt that way to me.
We have an official announcement:
So Chen, you’re felling good and pw3ned at this point, I trust…

re: #107 by snork
He just threatened our lives again.
I have a bad attitude to funding blogs that raise revenue through advertising. This probably was my was my first mistake with LGF, I never paid Charles a cent, on retrospect a few bucks to Charles would have probably kept me from being canned so fast. I have trusted a lot of folks on LGF that were misrepresented, and some reside here. I will not make the same mistakes as before. Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice is enemy action…
Ok, who farted?

OT, but–may I say it?–something even more important: CNN is helping Dunn spin her “Mao is one of my two favorite political philosophers” comment.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/10/16/beck.dunn/index.html
So, she summarized Atwater? Progressives lie, of course, so I expect she lied. Then there is nonsense about how she was being “ironic” about that Mao stuff. Odd. Was she being “ironic” about Mother Teresa as well? Then she prattles about how Gingrich quoted Mao, which is of course irrelevant because the issue is that Gingrich did not idolize Mao–if he said what she claimed (see above regarding her lies) he was doing something analogous to quoting Clausewitz in his area of expertise. Alternatively, he was commenting about how the Maoists see things.
CNN is spinning all this for for Dunn. The writers are the vicious, way-left, and ugly Suzanne Malveaux and Ed Hornick.
Now you can get back to your usual selrahC obsession.
And the WTF??? award for the day:
I can see why Pitricus couldn’t stand this wench.
“However, if I were to charge by the hour for the work I do at LGF, let’s just say — I’m working pretty cheap.”
The dork holster needs to look up the word “work”
Screaming racist all day and stalking every conservative blog to prove it is not in the dictionary.
Hey all!
Anyone remember me?
I made the cardinal sin of going to Ace’s blog and posting. Had no idea that was a no no to cj nor would I care.

CNN, Dunn, CfnJ, is there really a difference? Well 2 are A-holes on a bigger scale, but other than that,3 sides of the same coin. We do need a Hiatus though, 1 week cold turkey. Bet we couldn’t do it.
re: #120 by typicalwhitey
I remember you, especially around election time last year.
Welcome.
re: #108 by Rightside
Maybe what happened was the team of Cox & Forkum split and they no longer put out their work as a partnership. So, they pulled their stuff from LGF. That’s my memory which maybe lacking. But they were not ban by Charles.
re: #116 by Pianobuff

re: #102 by snowcrash
Hi there! I’m not entirely new here, since I was often posting over here under another nic last winter.
I’m just coming off an internet hiatus right now. Haven’t been online anywhere for a few months. It’s great to see this place fluorishing and to see so many familiar ‘faces!’
And the “no shit, Sherlock” award for the day goes to Gus:
And the “I see it because selrehC says it’s there” award goes to D(oo)F.
Question, folks: Given the banning with abandon elsewhere, isn’t “busking” really the wrong term?
Aren’t people really talking about the under-the-bus-king??
re: #78 by DEZ
I started noticing when he started deleting my comments. The first one where I saw it happen was when I asked Fjordman why dthey didn’t just gift Mohgammedans who rape casually and get treated causually by the Norweigian “justice” system (Somthing that was apparently a regular happening). I am not particularly subtle about such things, but, you know, his blog his rules.
But I saw how things were headed. I should
have flounced (as they now call it) when Ayotollaha Ghilmeini got the knife. I mean, I’ve met AG, and he’s a hell of a good guy and good poster. The way Charles banned him should have been a wakeup call, and it was really. I figured it would happen to me eventually, and it did. That was even OK. His blog, etc. What I wasn’t down with was the bullshit he said about me after he banned me.
The main reason I am here is his bullshit attempt to convince Wahhabbi Corridor that I wasn’t the friend she knew me to be. Fuck that. Didn’t work. She’s know me for years, far better than Chuckles the Clown knew me, but he should have know better. Unlike him, some people are loyal to their friends. I guess I can mention it now. Realwest was pissed. Not minorly pissed like, say, someone had stolen his last hundred bucks or something. I mean pissed. He sent around a letter back-channel to peopl ehe could trust that showed how pissed he was. It was one of those “I’m not worthy” moments, if you know what I mean.
There’s something Charl;es doesn’t know anything about or understand: real friendship. I don’t know that dude is a clinical sociopath, but he’s got the “doesn’t form normal, human attachments” down straight. No matter who it is, he doesn’t have any attachment to them. Not even Kilgore. He want’s psychophants, not friends. That just ain’t right.
re: #130 by buzzsawmonkey
Oh, very nice!
I see names from days gone bye. Good names too.
So Chuck has resorted to tacit “begging” for funds? I thought libs were supposed to be so generous?
That’s what they always told me anyway.
I volunteer to give Chuck $1.00 for up ding I gave the dweeb during my 10,000+ at his feckless blog – which means we’re even at the moment.
Congratulations on the traffic LGF2. I can remember posting here when there was but a few people and hammering that Irish Rose twit on post #1. The place has come a long way baby!
re: #125 by Kali
Yes, about a year or so ago, Cox and Forkum stopped doing their illustrations. I remember reading about it I think at Hotair (racist site where KKKilgore racist Trout posted his N-word rant).
“However, if I were to charge by the hour for the work I do at LGF, let’s just say — I’m working pretty cheap.”
LMAO again. This is hysterical! What a geek.
re: #107 by snork
First CJ says he knew what would happen if he said what he did. I guess the need to beg out weighed the fact check your ass critique he knew would come.
He wants to rid his site of the ads? What ads? Other than the Beck book one the only ads he has are his whoring Amazon and Google ones there are none. His biggest ad is the big yellow beg button. Remember how he used to slam Google for their reluctance of honoring days that used to mean much to 1.0? I guess he has changed his mind about them just like he has with everyone that used to support him.
And now we have the ultimate irony and his pandering drips with disingenuousness. He refers to his readers as gentle.
Yes, he is a victim of his circumstance and under appreciated, and once again pleas with his readers that he is worth much more than people give him credit for. He deserves entitlement in his own mind, but the ‘gentle’ 1.0 community just don’t get it yet, so he reminds them once again.
re: #120 by typicalwhitey
Hiya! Yes, I remember you — I got banned for posting here, about two weeks after I started. Like you, I refuse to let someone tell me where I may or may not post.

I think that got posted before my thread went up.

Yes, I got the feeling of déjà vu seeing your name on the board and a reminder of one of my two or three favorite posters on Chuck’s board. Really good to read you again.
I hope that life finds you well?

Hello Furry!
And Song, another one of my old favorites. Good to read you as well.
Makes me laugh that I’m getting a kick out of General Chen’s post about my former homeowner. The 2 cents was a great touch!

I mentioned Alouette last night. She made my B. Hussein in pope hat that Charles dinged down.
re: #117 by sk
Some people pretend they can’t tell the difference between these two statements:
“As Goebbels used to say, ‘If you tell a lie, make it a big one and keep repeating it.’”
“As Goebbels, one of the men I personally admire most, used to say, …….etc.”
At best, CNN et al. are practicing what Orwell called “protective stupidity.”
Hey General. Your humor has been missed. Cat is right, as I find myself feeling somewhat poorly tonight and logged on to find this.
You calling me a hair-ball? Not that it wouldn’t be inaccurate.

re: #169 by song_and_dance_man
I won’t go through even the motions of donating $0.02, as much as the irony of his refusing it would be quite delicious.
re: #171 by FurryOldGuyJeans
Well I still refuse to pet you.
Did you walk away from LGF of get the stick?
re: #144 by DEZ
Thanks, man. I don’t expect everyone will agree with me. I am usually in the minority I’m comfortable there, because Right isn’t always popular, or even usually popular. My hardest line posts though, I still stand behind in general. I was angry (very angry) when I started posting at LGF, and violence is not a partuclar bugaboo to me. I’ve moved in circles where the “bad” men were really, really bad men. Hard solutions are still solutions, and I have no mercy in me for terrorists and their supporters.
Think of how much better things would be for the United States if we’d have handled Afghanistan the way I wanted to. We can argue about the necessity of such extreme measures but, sure as death the Taliban would no longer be a problem, nor would opium shipments from Afghanistan be common or, for that matter, possible.
Goodnight everybody.

re: #174 by right wing zephyr
lgf has 24/7 spies lurking here, and yet WE are the stalkers. The logic of that somehow just is so rarefied as to nonexistent.
Business Plan:
Charlie’s Vegetarian Emporium
============================================
I am applying for a business loan to start a new restaurant downtown.
For the past ten years, I have run a very successful steakhouse, building it up over time from a street-vendor hotdog cart, to a burger fast food franchise, and eventually to a world renowned establishment serving the finest beef, seafood, and poultry in a lively, friendly, and casual environment, at reasonable prices.
I was so successful that I had to restrict reservations, and had to allow new customers in only during limited hours. We were so busy that I had to keep the establishment open 24 hours a day to serve my devoted clientele. I am proud to say that my customers have included famous gourmands, reviewers, and celebrities. I had some of the world’s best chefs and serving staff, and some of the country’s finest new restaurants can trace their roots back to my establishment.
About a year ago, I realized that my true calling was to create a world class vegetarian restaurant. In an effort to achieve my goals, I have implemented the following changes:
1. I gradually stopped serving prime rib and filet mignon, and started serving tofu and veggie burgers.
2. Anybody in the kitchen who could not handle the shift from meat to veggies was invited to leave.
3. Any customers who complained about the meals were invited to eat elsewhere.
4. I implemented a survey system to track how my customers felt about the restaurant. I rewarded any customer who provided constructive criticism with my own, reciprocal criticism of how they dressed, or how unattractive their guests looked. Any positive comments were rewarded with a free dessert, unless I felt that they were lying, in which case I had one of my serving staff pour hot coffee on their laps.
5. If I discovered that one of my customers was eating at another restaurant, I ensured that they would no longer be seated at one of my tables. I employed bouncers so that if I discovered the details of such a visit while the customer happened to be in my own restaurant, I would have the bouncers physically remove them and throw them into the street.
6. I instructed my remaining staff to harp and harangue my older customers over their menu choices.
7. I personally critique my customers’ eating habits, and have found it very effective to urinate in their soup before kicking them out. After kicking them out, I sometimes report them to the credit card company for fraud, even if they have paid in cash.
My restaurant is now mostly empty, I am serving microwaved tofu, and I have angry mobs throwing rocks and dead squirrels through my windows.
Since my receipts are down drastically, I hope you will find my plan for success compelling and will quickly approve the enclosed loan application.
I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience, you racist, insane banking bastards.
Thank you.
re: #177 by Iron Fist
What’s up Fist!!!!!!!!!!!
Charles: I may start requiring new registrants to post at least once within an hour or lose their account.
Sharmuta: That’s absolutely disgusting!
Charles: No, you are only to be absolutely disgusted after I say something is absolutely disgusting. For this, you are supposed to quite concur.
Kilgore: I quite concur.
Sharmuta: I am so sorry, Charles. Obviously, this is not absolutely disgusting, as I previously said without thinking. I concur with what you said about what I said. What I said was disgusting.
Iceweasel: Fuck you for saying that about Charles. You should be dead.
Sharmuta: I am so sorry, Iceweasel. You are right, I should be dead.
Kilgore: I quite concur.
Charles: OK, this board is out of control now. The purpose of this thread was to slyly tell you that you all have to pony up and buy subscriptions to this site, without my ordering you to. That way, I would get not only your money, but have my ego stroked too, since it would be voluntary. And now you’re all changing the topic.
Sharmuta: Charles, I am so, so sorry for the pain you must be feeling for having to read my moronic non-realization that what you wanted was for me to beg you to pay you $10 per month for you to subtely abuse me. I have to say, my behavior here has been …. well, disgusting.
Kilgore: I quite concur.
Reine: I concur too.
Fat Bastard: I think I concur too, but I’m not sure what I’m concurring with. I know I want people to like me here, though. If I say I concur, will everyone like me?
Charles: Disgusting.
Fat Bastard: Sorry.
Charles: Don’t make me ban you.
Sharmuta: Ha ha he he a flounce. Look, everyone, a flounce! Flounce flounce flounce! Ha
Fat Bastard: I’m not flouncing, for at least another two weeks until I realize you’re all dicks. But I haven’t reached that point yet.
Charles: Looks like a pre-flounce to me.
Iceweasel: What a fucking douche bag loser. Go die.
Reine: Concur.
Sharmua: It’s disgusting that you concur that he should die for not flouncing.
Reine: No, I’m concuring that it would be disgusting for him to consider flouncing in response to being told to have a subscription to LGF for $10. I absolutely concur
Charles: This is now absolutely disgusting
Sharmuta: Disgusting! Disgusting! Disgusting! It’s totally, reprehensibly, absolutely positively disgusting! What, what is disgusting? Oh, I’m so sorry, I apologizie in advance for not knowing what the disgusting thing is, but I know it is so please respect me!
Charles: I don’t respect you at all Sharmuta, you’re a harpy loser. But you contribute 15 % of my total posts, and you pay your $10 per month, so as long as you agree that everything that I say is disgusting is disgusting, you can stay.
Kilgore: Quite concur.
Iceweasel: Asshole, I concur too.
Sharmuta: No curse words! Please! I’m a nun and it hurts my ears when people curse! That’s why I’m always disgusted.
…

“Spying is impossible in Klopstakia”:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MnVLMFa5CU&feature=PlayList&p=176F498C9134524C&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=14
[BTW, this is the first of the clips for the whole movie on YouTube. If you haven't seen it, you owe yourself this treat. It is one of the silliest films ever made. Lyda Roberti as "Mata Machree, the Woman No Man Can Resist" is priceless. As is the Mysterious Man, Ben Turpin.]
Shout out to Pianobuff, and any other early jazz devotees: the opening-credit music by Nat Finston and the Paramount Orchestra is superb.
Also, Charles if you’re over here spying, I post regularly insulting you. You and your fans are just too stupid to get it.
re: #186 by tommy torquemada
That’s a good one!
So Chucky thought the liberals were going to financially support him like the conservatives did? Shit Chucky, they got their hand out waiting for you and Øbama to give to them. You’re an idiot! – But most important you are a turncoat, a jezebel, who turned on his friends. You turned so far (whilst in an argument you lost BTW) that you gave up your principles. You fuckin’ traitor!
re: #186 by tommy torquemada
That is weapons grade funny………congrats.
re: #179 by Lincolntf
If you happen to go there you will find the thread comments are not what they used to be. Not to mention the content.
And here? Look at the archives 4 months ago and you will see form then to now a dramatic increase in traffic, posters and comments.
If I get a sock, will it match the one I lost in the dryer?
re: #189 by Lincolntf
No. One of my biggest mistakes was not going into the Marines after I graduated high school. That would have meant turning down a full scholorship. Not even the recruiters recommended that, but it would have been the best, in hindsight. Why do you ask?
re: #177 by Iron Fist
The Right is always Right!!!!!!!!!!!
re: #185 by FurryOldGuyJeans
From what I see, several here have sock-puppits in the LGF arena creating up trouble.
Considering LGF’s assets including the secret DIA base, we are all probably doomed to blog oblivion. On the other hand, we can always take a few out on the way out.
I see little reason to waste my time with Charles, I think we have a race as to whether The LGF or Obama admin will implode first.
These are two trainwrecks just begging to happen.

re: #196 by right wing zephyr
Even if he is not himself doing the lurking, his sycophantic ass leeches will relay any disrespect perceived back to the interwebs kewl dood messiah.
And they call US stalkers.
re: #193 by Iron Fist
exactly my point.
re: #202 by Iron Fist
I ask because your understanding of “gun rights” seems very civilian-ish. I just now responded on the earlier thread, but I was wondering if you had had some unique military experience that would make you doubt the realities I pointed out. Apparently not.
re: #209 by phoenixgirl
He already has irrational posters!
Sharmuta, iceweasel, Jimmah and killgore.

You do kinda look like Alfalfa.
re: #198 by realizedview
CHarles ia hoping for the third stimulous package. Just for public record, I was informed teo months ago that stimulous funding was available to my local government, but only for projects benefiting the impoverished, nothing is available for actually creating jobs or business.
My state finally decided to quit placing the job stimulous signs on inactive job sites last week. Everyone including the democrats know that this is all BS.
re: #223 by DEZ
I’m sorry, but Alfalfa renamed himself Quinoa in order to be more “green.”
Fer Christ sake, nobody on LGF is paying Charles $10 per month. Those “four” subscriptions are like when some guy standing on 6th avenue playing Sweet Home Alabama on an accordian puts four $1 bills in a jar so people will think other people are actually paying for this nuissance to be there.
re: #223 by DEZ
More like Big Foot with a Bad Hair Decade, actually.
re: #224 by LoFlyer
Instead of the stimulus signs, they should just put up a picture of Obama.
Much cheaper and more in line with they type of country he envisions us to be.
re: #224 by LoFlyer
If Charles wants a stimulus package, he can take Viagra and wait for his stiff neck to clear up 4 hours later.
If CJ would post his address I would UPS him a block of cheese.

The second banning of mama winger, the thread where CJ trashed you so horribly and so gratuitously was what really changed my mind about LGF. Yet, like an addict, I kept on until after the election. But I never felt right about the place again….or right about myself for being there.
I was ashamed that I didn’t stand up for you the way mama did. I never stopped being ashamed.

Okay…I am thinking charles is telling the truth..he gets enough money to hang on and LGF will not fold for cash hurt.
The reason it will fold is him..pure and simple.
Imagine you are still part of the deluded…and still a bit new..Chuckie closes the comments because of a “shouting match”
You are left out in the cold for the night.
That is what will be the death of that site, if he ever does it.
Those who were banned..about how long did it take you to become angry and want some sort of payback??
and their initial karma is reflective of how much they shelled out to register

re: #212 by Lincolntf
I’ll post my answer here as well:
re: #493 by Lincolntf
Nice reply. Since we don’t have your secret sources, we can’t know what you are talking about, therefore we are wrong? Is that your assertion?> A couple of points. Number one is that in the military they drill into you that you never obey unlawful orders. Ever. They can and will court martial you for that. Any order that violates the Constitution is, by definiation, unconstitutional and therefore also unlawful.
That is basic military law. I’m not a lawyer, either, but I have studied it. Just as I’ve know people in the military. I even spent a year working as a civillian attached to a Marine Corp Reserve tank platoon. That doesn’t make me a vetern, but it is experience that would count, I believe, towards your slight that I don’t see the Second Amendment from a soldier’s perspective. A couple of points on that specifically: first and foremost we maintain a civillian control over the military in this country. My civillian opinion, insofar as that it is a correct legal opinion, is a valid opinion.
Secondly, I’ve known a lot of soldiers. Their view of the Second Amendment is pretty congruent with mine. As an example you should recognize I’ll refer to reaganite who was career airforce (EOD) and McGuyver (also career air force). I use those two because you should at least recognize the nicks.
Also a final point about gun rioghts. The Supreme Court and Appelate courts are coming around to my viewpoint on the Second Amendment. Notable scholors like Lawrence Tribe have become increasingly convinced that I have the correct interpretation of the Second Amendment at least on the broad issue.
Granted the first principle that the Second Amendment is an individual right, my viewpoint follows logical reasoning from said starting point as you acknowledge and enforce that this individual right is as important as freedom of religion or freedom of speech/press. Next year we are going to have lawyers try to make the case to the Supreme Court that the Second Amendment (nearly alone of the Bill of Rights) isn’t important enough to apply toi the states. It’ll be really interesting considering that the precedent they have to use tried to find the way it did in order to give the Ku Klux Klan the power to disarm freed slaves during Reconstruction.

Signs of @lizardoid failure at LittleGreenFootballs: All comment counts on front page now 3 digits or less. Many low 3. Some 2 Digit counts.
So, will he ban people that buy subscriptions? And if he does, will he refund the money?
As far as his comment about LGF paying for itself, but he’s working for peanuts . . . that’s his fault. If I had a blog with his vaunted circulation, I wouldn’t be messing around with my day job. I mean c’mon, is he some sort of doe-eyed fanatic that thinks his sort of blogging is so honorable that he shouldn’t ever get any money from it as that would soil its pureness?
Buy wait . . . remember, he’s a musician, an artist, in fact. So of course he’s pure.

re: #244 by snork
LGF commenters have their own unique brand of profane-prissy. They oscillate from “fuck this fuck that” to “That is so absolutely disgustingly horrible that I can’t read the words without becoming physically sick.” Just when you get an image in your mind of 19th century women swooning in shame over an accidentally exposed ankle or falling down with the vapors from hearing someone use the word “damn”, they launch a Turrette’s level obscenity dump on some schlub blogger for posting that Sean Hannity occasionally makes valid points.

{{{{{{typicalwhitey}}}}}}} good to see you!
If you looked at a lot of the nick(s) here, it feels like the old days…familiar friends and topical discussions – this site has interestingly become what it once was under the former banner – I am amazed in what a short time it has occurred.
re: #239 by quiet man
I don’t think it’s about “payback” for most people…it’s about the truth. When Charles bans, he deletes your comments and then posts his response to your deletion describing you as if you’re some kind of psycho threatening his life or something.
No one sees that your comment was a normal response to something you disagreed with but he makes it out to be threatening or racist. You know, just like the current administration.
Karma is a bitch. It’s heaping up on Charles and he’s fighting back like a sissy spreading lies and warning of threats so everyone feels so sorry for him. Fortunately most people are smart enough to see what he’s doing. The lemmings can stay and be treated as they are because they’re leftists who can’t think on their own and require his heavy hand. Too bad for them….

re: #263 by typicalwhitey
Your nic was everyone’s favorite during the election!
I’m waiting for someone to explain why CJ is constantly bragging about what a high % of his new sign-ups are socks. Seems to me in the old days he’d get 143 or 211 signups in an hour. Now he says things like “12 new people, 5 are sock puppets.” OK. So there’s actually 7 new people. Why is that a bragging right?
re: #235 by wolfie
Thanks for those kind words. That was not the first, nor will it be the last, time he bashes me. After the mamawinger incident he has trashed me at least two times. What he thought would be gained by the trashing is I would be discredited. Well he was wrong, and your words, and many others who have said much the same thing, prove it. He calls me a freak and in response I call him pitiful. What a wasteland he has led that blog into.
It really burns him that we have become so successful here.

It’s been explained why its worth ‘bitching’ about — i.e, objecting to on the grounds that it’s racist, bigoted, and intended to stoke anti-immigration sentiment by implying that all immigrants– regardless of legal status– are illegal, and that all immigrants are criminals or potential criminals.
Look at the costume Weazy. “Regardless of legal status”

Are you sure, cuz I thought I saw her at Hot Air.
re: #291 by Lincolntf
Again, you claim to some special knowledge. I’d like to see what it actually is. To get things out where everyone your position is that it was right for military and police to disarm citizens in the wake of hurrican katrina. The issue has pretty Substantive issues. My main point is that these confiscation orders were unconstitutional, and as such were unlawful, and thus should have been disobeyed. Is that a fair asscessment of my position? I’m not sure what your position really is except you think I don’t have a right to an opinion.
That about sums up the state of the debate as I see it. Do go on, now. I am most curious…
re: #299 by Sparky

re: #253 by Gerard Van der Leun

re: #301 by DEZ
Swamp gas, the real Mal Aria.
Iron, we must of been in different branches of the service, we were instructed that we could challenge an order thought to be unlawful, but we would be court martialed for the challenge. We were taught to follow the order, then challenge afterwords. (CYA) The issue never came up in six years of service. I saw a lot of stuff outside the regs, but it was for operational neccessity and never challenged. As the good ole’ boys say, “Get her done!”

Of course, I’ve been busy searching high and low for those websites where someone can go and have it automatically insert your text into existing comics. I have it on good authority that this is what I have done, and I’d hate to think that Detective Johnson was a liar.

re: #309 by Bite Me! Comics
i think he called what you did an internet cliche!
Well not every one has the same understanding of how to deal with the offical orders down the chain of command.
Had a Gen. in the I-Corps VN who had enough, put some of us on what we called “oral orders only” “OOO’s” . He would call the teams he trusted, lay out what he wanted done just on the other side of the line LBJ had up on the border area of Laos, and leave the rest up to
U.S. to get the job done to keep his Marines safer.
Gen.’s who follow the orders of some of these dumb ass Washington D.C. “crooks” and “no good commie lovers” are in the end no better than John F. Kerry, “American Traitor” that he is.
Just think how close we came to having a full bore traitor as Commander in Chief.
Just think of the orders some of those in D.C. has within them.
All is not pure in Washington D.C..
re: #305 by LoFlyer
I wasn’t, and haven’t said that I was, a vetern, but I know you can also be courtmartialed for obeying an unlawful order. That much I recall. There was a lot made of that in the 1986-87 period for the unit I worked with. I worked in the training department (pushing paper, nothing exciting, I assure you). Be that as it may, if the troops are ordered to go in and statr blanket disarming of the US population they had best refuse to comply. Things will turn very nasty very quickly.

Well, thank you. Also, every single thing in that story is true. I can’t prove any of it, as none of it is sourced, but it’s up to Charles and his “family” to prove that none of it is true.
Now, that said, I think I saw a link where Sharmuta, and another poster, at Charles’ site were openly engaging in activities that were intended to circumvent (i.e. violate) the federal Digital Copyright Act laws. Was I mistaken in that? Because I copied the posts, just in case.
That doesn’t reflect well on LGF at all. That he would abide by allowing flagrant federal law violations to occur on his website. Just… wow.

re: #309 by Bite Me! Comics
I really have enjoyed your work. I especially like how you incorporate various Chuck-isms into the panels and story line, like his “correlator tool,” that was genius.
I don’t recall you mentioning his other fave line, “I bid you adieu!”
Other ideas: he doesn’t like people linking to certain sites from his blog, like if you post a story that is hosted at “World Net Daily,” he’ll delete that link and maybe ban you for it.
If you didn’t work in his weird obsession with trying to find celtic crosses on people’s book shelves, that might be another angle to work from.
There were one or two other ideas I had for you, but they escape my mind at the moment.
Did you already use some Kindle jokes in your strips? Oooh, maybe you could have a plot line where Charles and Sharmuta use the Kindle to track down clues to solve some kind of mystery.
Maybe you can have a fist fight between him and his arch nemesis, Robert Spencer (or would that be Glenn Beck)?
Have Johnson discover some really idiotic conspiracy by the Discovery Institute -or, even better, have it turn out that he’s paranoid and reveal that the Discovery Institute conspiracy was only in his imagination the whole time, kinda like that episode of “Dallas” where the lady woke up and said, “Oh, it was only a bad dream.”

re: #321 by Iron Fist
I want to folow up and extend, here. First and foremost about the use of troops to enforce domestic law (any domestic law), well, this is illegal in general. Posse Comitatus pretty much makes it illegal to use the military for law enforcement inside the United States. This is deliberate, and it is good policy both military and civilly. The military man is not (and should never be) a policeman. While the mission in our current war involves police-like actions, this is bad, and I think will be detrimental to our troops. Americans will undoubtably die, and, regrettably kill, because they are not poliecemen, and should not behave as police men. However, there is no sense compounding a military mistake by makeing it a civil mistake as well. Using the troops as police in Iraq is bad, perhaps, but it is happening in Iraq. What is acceptible in the war zone for the prosecution of war does not need to come to the home front and be used against American citizens. It is a bad idea, in addition to being against American law and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Why, then, is anyone arguing for such a thing?

I have access to tons of public domain comic books, with which to work. The storylines come naturally. The tough part is finding just the right comic book to use, which will allow the storyline to develop.
I think the current one will have three parts (hopefully released on a weekly basis) with the occasional “short” tossed in as the need arises.
Then, well, we’ll go from there I guess.
I do, though, appreciate all the ideas and stuff – there’s so much material to work with, it’s hard to limit myself. LOL

My unit was a light attack squadron and the concern was putting iron on target. Second ammendment rights and enforcement never came up in my duty. I pray that any officer ordered to confiscate US civilian weapons would have a long discussion with his NCO’s before performing the order. Given half a chance, our boys will figure out the best way to handle an illegal order without disobeying our laws and military orders.

That is one of the things that worries me. If he can get civillians and the military shooting at each other over gun confiscation he will have gone a long way towards destroying this country. About the only thing worse would be just accepting it when they send the military around to take up guns; complying with the unconstitutional directive.
That is why the military should refuse to obey such an order. Among others. There’s a lot of sound thinking going on umong the Oath Keepers. Enemies foreign and Domestic…

re: #343 by Bite Me! Comics
This kind of parody/humor is right up my alley.
If you do another super-hero themed blog, you could give Johnson different types of “villains” to fight, like how Bat Man fought the Joker, Cat Woman, the Penguin.
You could have one class of villain that could be a coalition of bloggers, (e.g., Robert Spencer, Stacy McCain, Pam Gellar).
Have a storyline with former allies who turned against him.
From that you could work in 2.0’s admin “m” into the plot, where she turns against him, and he uses m’s Pay Pal account info to figure out her true identity.
2.0 (The Blogmocracy) could be the “villans lair” where all his other enemies (Rodan, Savage, etc) hang out.
If you had a “kryptonite” for Johnson, that would be funny. Maybe his kryptonite could be plastic frogs (Glenn Beck reference)?
Or maybe his weakness is getting his pony tail cut off (sort of an Old Testament Samson thing).
You know how Bat Man had the batmobile? You could have Johnson tooling around on his bicycle.

re: #331 by CloudyDay
I second what Cloudy Day says.
Bite Me!, Your satire was genius. I love the way each character appears as if they think they appear to others. It reminds me of a scene in the Simpsons where Homer has had a few beers and the reflection he sees in the mirror is ripped and bouncing his pec muscles back at Homer!
But really, that was one of the funniest things I’ve read in a long time. I’m jealous I didn’t think of it!

re: #348 by LoFlyer
It’s funny, but a while back I was sleeping over with two former marines (father and son) and their family. They were talking about the military taking away Americans’ guns. I have forgotten the details of their argument, but the gist was that there was no way the military would be Zero’s enforcers, as it would go against their primary oath to defend the Constitution, which superceded any responsiblity to follow orders from the chain of command.
They also said that people like me just don’t understand the mindset of the military, which draws from strata that I do not live in, however conservative I am. They said that as the military mostly comes from their own stratum, they were pretty confident that the military would know what would happen IF they tried to confiscate Americans’ weapons, because many of their stratum-mates would shoot first, just as the military guys would do if they left the military.
In short, their opinion was quite similar to Fist’s.

Questioned CJ on his claim of poosible Tea Party protestors being responsible for the death of the census working in KY (?). Guess he couldn’t google, i don’t know, but pointed out to him that he was FOUND on 9/12, not killed on 9/12, already decomposing. Guess what really got me banned is when I started “down-dinging” everytime he called Malkin, Palin, Rush, Hot Air a racist. I think he see’s racist’s around every corner.

Good luck for that working on me if I decided to make a sock. (I don’t, I didn’t have one when I was there and I have no need for one now)
I have 3 systems to connect to the site to (1 cell phone, 1 windows computer and 1 linux computer), my home isp gives me a new ip address every time my modem resets, I also have a cable modem that gives me a new ip every time I connect to the web, plus every time I use my cell my ip changes when I power it on.
Looks like meat is back on the menu, boys!

If I recall, the body was found in a part of the state well-known for moonshine and pot.
Seems to me that moonshiners and pot growers have had a beef with the feds (being that they’re engaging in very illegal behavior) that predates the 9/12 tea party.
But then, Charles can’t afford things that disagres with his point of view.
As if we didn’t already know this, but now anita dunn admits:
TEL AVIV – President Obama’s presidential campaign focused on “making” the news media cover certain issues while rarely communicating anything to the press unless it was “controlled,” White House Communications Director Anita Dunn disclosed to the Dominican government at a videotaped conference.
“Very rarely did we communicate through the press anything that we didn’t absolutely control,” said Dunn.
“One of the reasons we did so many of the David Plouffe videos was not just for our supporters, but also because it was a way for us to get our message out without having to actually talk to reporters,” said Dunn, referring to Plouffe, who was Obama’s chief campaign manager.
“We just put that out there and made them write what Plouffe had said as opposed to Plouffe doing an interview with a reporter. So it was very much we controlled it as opposed to the press controlled it,” Dunn said.
Check out the hot new best-seller — “Muslim Mafia”
Continued Dunn: “Whether it was a David Plouffe video or an Obama speech, a huge part of our press strategy was focused on making the media cover what Obama was actually saying as opposed to why the campaign was saying it, what the tactic was. … Making the press cover what we were saying.”
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=113347#
he must track ip addresses.
I got a sock up but then i was banned before i could post.
As with most blogs, whenever you post, your IP Address is stored with the comment.
Then, all someone would have to do is query the database, and get a list of distinct IP Addresses used by a specific member to post comments, and you can then narrow down potential socks.
That is why every time I register, I spoof my IP. I’ll register with an IP address from, oh let’s say Denmark, or Japan, or wherever. And I will always use that IP when commenting. Each sock has a different and unrelated IP.
“Correlator Tools” are nice and everything, sure. It can even be very efficient. But, it can never be smarter than a person.
Hi team,
I must have logged some 6 or so comments on LGF but I am blocked. Somehow I feel as though I must have done something good to merit the honour.
re: #379 by ChenZhen
Chen, you’d make a good “villain” for Johnson to fight in a strip.
Superman, Wonder Woman, Bat Man, etc, had the League of Justice, where they teamed up to fight evil.
In a reverse of that (since CJ is depicted as the “hero” in the comic, and we’re the bad guys)…
Though most of us here are conservatives, and you’re on the left, politically speaking, there could be a strip where you team up with us to fight against LGF 1. That would be funny.
You’d make a great “Joker” type character, since you like to use humor and pranks.
re: #421 by Bite Me! Comics
I am not savvy enough to know how to fake an ip lol
I only had one sock. I used it to push back on a rather nasty and aggressive poster. And it worked. I would have to believe it is still there, but I have forgotten the password.
Oh and having only one sock is not good. I recommend at least three. One must consider the infamy of the 1.0 dryer, or any dryer for that matter, when socks are disappeared for no reason at all.

Wouldn’t he have some kind of “jizra tax” scheme in place, where he would require Creationists and Beck supporters to pay higher fees?
Like,

Quoting LGF’s rule page:
He still has that rule in place? I thought he revoked it a few months ago?

quoting Johnson:
He sure does keep close tabs on this blog.
By contrast, I haven’t visited Johnson’s blog in months. I only know of it from what folks here, Hot Air, The Other McCain, and AoS write about it.

Nope. Johnson was quick to ban other long time members who hit his Tip Jar many times.
I think one of the first paying contributors to go was a guy named rayra.
Johnson has ZERO loyalty, as I’ve said many times before (see Iron Fist’s post, #131 above, and #191. song_and_dance_man).
Johnson doesn’t care if you’ve donated money to his blog, or if you’ve invested hours posting there for years, or if you’ve defended him at other blogs.
I still think it’s only a matter of time before Wild Irish Rose, Kilgore Trout, Sharmuta, and some of the others get banned.

Oh Boy…Chalres in Charge is not gonna like that…has this been broadcast back on the 1.0 thread yet (and downdinged then deleted)?
re: #480 by song_and_dance_man
That’s because they don’t see their demise…another reason leftists are so dangerous….
re: #478 by CloudyDay
Actually, he isn’t fiuckle at all, if you are on some mission he agrees with (even possibly sent you on), and he agrees with what you have said, and thinks it reflects well on LGF, he won’t ban you. That makes KKKilgore’s racist screeds at Hot Air all the more appalling. Whether he approved the caper a priori or not is insignificant; he beyond question approved what LGF’s most notorious racist said.
Personally, I was shocked. I expected a dripping appology after that, with a solomn promise never to post when he was that hammered ever again. Not only did that not happen, it doesn’t appear he was drunk when he said it.
He was just letting his inner klansman out for a little joy-ride.
re: #479 by FurryOldGuyJeans
Daily Kos is disgusting but LGF doesn’t even rise to their level. I see LGF commentors as similar to Democratic Underground….which is really pathetic.
Charles Johnson’s latest crusade seems to be against right wing blogs. He is activly encouraging his loyal followers to visit other sites and report back on any “politically incorrect” remarks made by commenters. The type of information Charles is looking for includes extreme, hateful, racist, neo-Nazi and white supremacist comments that are made by anonymous posters and not instantly deleted by moderators or the site owners. Lately there has even been a daily “Hot Air comments” Thread. This daily thread highlights some of the worst transgressions of Mr Johnson’s particular code of honour.
However it appears that criminal activity is not frowned upon by Charles Johnson. In fact he activly aids it. He allows his site to be used to trade and distribute stolen property. Not only does he turn a “blind eye” to this criminal activity he then cleans up the evidence once the crime has been commited.
I do not really think a site that gets most of its advertising revenue should really be facilitating the distribution of pirated E-books. I will go further than that. I am inquiring why Mr Johnson has not reported this criminal activity to the authorities.
We await his reply.
CJ is fighting a blog war he can’t win.
He’s surely getting some left wingers at his site now, but he’ll never have a successful left wing blog.
There isn’t a reason in the world why the big left wing blogs should recommend him to left wingers. They have their own left wing houses to run. Why should they share anything with him?
He misunderstood and failed by not realizing that his success was due to such a large number of conservatives bringing attention to his blog.
He has destroyed his business by not understanding his own business model. He decided that tossing his audience out on our ears was the way to go. He was wrong.
He can’t even claim with any credibility at this point that he did it for his integrity. He smears conservatives with lies on an ongoing basis and he doesn’t apologize when he’s shown to be wrong.
So he’s left with nothing but Sharmuta, Iceweasel and Killgore Trout to fawn loyally but sadly over the mess that he’s made of his life.
It’s like he’s going through that nasty divorce of his all over again but he thinks he’s winning this time. Instead, he’s still the guy left with almost nothing but a dumb ole blog (only this time, he’s pushing 60 not 50).

Can you e-mail me? I have Mandys addy.
re: #477 by Sparky
The fact that the data used was “upside down” wasn’t in itself a problem. The statistical method automatically flips it. The problem is what it does with the noise in the signal.
Mann’s saying that it doesn’t matter. He’s wrong about that. And it’s not as if this is a hard one to settle. You just flip it over, and see if it comes out different. This ain’t roquet siens.
That’s what McIntyre is on about (via the Watts article).

Hmmmmmm. I wonder when CJ will let his minions know that data was wrong. I’m thinking….never.
I have three remaining socks by proxy and not subject to stupid so-called correlator tools. I am going over to 1.0 right now to stir up trouble on the global warming thread. I expect to have only two sock puppets left in 15 minutes.

re: #501 by snork
I got the nic wrong. it was earth2moonbat.
re: #489 by Deep Throat
CJ, instead of admitting his error in the supposed Rush comments he used to smear Rush with, links to Snopes to prove that there were comments made by Rush that were racist. He couldn’t have read the Snopes article because basically it showed that most of the statements were quoted in a book by a lefty with no sourcing or links. So once again, without admitting he was wrong, he puts up a list of quotes by Rush that he claims are racist. What they were, were statements in disagreement with Charles, therefore racist. Oh, to have such a brilliant mind as Charles….
Then he posts the comments on Hot Air’s blog that are supposed to be so hideous, racist, etc., etc. They again, were normal comments that were in disagreement with Charles way of thinking… Heaven forbid CJ see the real racists in front of his own eyes. Why is it that racists are always the ones accusing others of being racist?

Well, it’s clear that Iceweasel showed up as if she’d been there a long time — and didn’t she arrive at a time when the registration door wasn’t even open?
You could be right about this.
re: #513 by Whippet
snork posted that major flounce here as well, and he answered you. I’m certain he can direct you to it in link.
re: #512 by Josephine
I’m having a hard time with that one just because Medura is not nice to anyone while, in fairness, Iceweasel was congenial with me, though we almost always disagreed. It is easy to see that she’d let her nasty side out, but that took some time and confidence building. Medura was a nasty piece of work from the get go. And this is me calling someone a “nasty piece of work”. I don’t know that she dines exclusively on roast suckling child, or even roast puppy with bunny and kitten dumplings, but she makes my skin crawl. There ain’t many people in the world can do that to me.
re: #516 by Moe Katz
You’re probably right. I was never good at comparing that type of thing or even writing styles.
All I know is that their nastiness is on par.
re: #515 by song_and_dance_man
Quite a change from the Rathergate days isn’t it? After all is said and done all one hopes to have left is your integrity and reputation. Too bad for Charles, he has neither.
re: #512 by Josephine
Frankly I don’t care who it is. When trying to scrape the dog shit off your shoes is not the time to be analyzing what it had to eat.
re: #518 by Eliana
She is definitely a sock.
A. Van Hilten’s, perhaps.
But, at the time, I suspected that A. Van Hilten was Medaura’s sock.
re: #186 by tommy torquemada
Dang. I wish I’d written that one. I’m still scrolling down to the present.
—–
Does anyone know if Charles has started building a balloon yet?
re: #521 by Josephine
“All I know is that their nastiness is on par.”
That’s for sure
There is “author identification” software on the market that uses statistical methods to verify if two authors are or aren’t the same. I haven’t really investigated the cost of such programs or whether there are free or demo versions.
re: #520 by Iron Fist
Well Medaura was actually nice to me because I knew a teeny bit about Albanian history, which was way more than most everyone else over there knew or understood about that country
re: #501 by snork
I missed your reply! Earth2moonbat huh? I remember you. I started reading LGF in the Rathergate days. Am I correct that you were already pretty entrenched there as a commentor by then?
I hear your flounce was one to behold. Song and Dance suggested that you make have a link. I would love to see it.
Who isn’t a sock? If you don’t post using our real names then we are all socks.
Internet puppetry 101.
re: #520 by Iron Fist
Yup. And yet Medaura is pleasant to other people online.
Your instinct is probably right. I tend to think there couldn’t possibly be more than one such extremely nasty person in the universe but, of course, if I consider statistics, that wouldn’t make sense.
re: #522 by Whippet
Just my observation, take it for what its worth, but things really started changing for the obviously worse after the 2006 mid-term elections. Up until then SCharmles loved to bash Congress (rightly so) for their out-of-control spending. The Dems win back control of Congress and start right away making the Republicans look like pikers and lo! no more “spending is bad” rants.
The man never was “on the right”, he was a lefty before 9/11 and is only going back “home”. He just is a crass opportunist sucking up to whatever party is in charge.

re: #514 by Bunk X
I’ll have to get hold of them and see if they will allow it.
It’s interesting reading all these posts here, speculating on Charles’ failed business model and how he effed it all up. I doubt he looks at it that way. I remain convinced his driving forces are:
1. need for admiration from loyal sycophants
2. boredom with blogging, in general
3. extreme bitterness at right-wing bloggers for removing/dissing/ridiculing him, morphing into an obsessive desire to ruin them
and
4. Obamania, which revived from the near-dead his old left-wing of views and made him mad at others in the blogging community who are anti-Obama
One thing I do not think he cares about is LGF as a business, except insofar as its success garners admiration from sycophants (see # 1) or proves he is winning the game against the HotAirs of the world (see # 2)
As LGF descends down and out the bottom of the ranks of the Top 100 political blogs, I think his highly competitive nature has caused him to just snap, in anger at those, like Atlas, who are rising.
re: #523 by FurryOldGuyJeans

re: #334 by snork
Did that “intellectual” actually state something as ignorant as that? Okay, let’s assume he’s right.
Melting of sea ice does nothing to raise the sea level as it already displaces it.
In order for the sea level to rise significantly, land ice must thaw and flow to the sea.
Since Antarctica holds the majority of the world’s land ice, and that it has a mean temperature of about -94 degrees Fahrenheit, the south pole would have to warm by 127 degrees F just to start the melt.
With an ancient icepack miles thick to melt…
why bother. He’s an idiot.

Just maybe put a few rules for Star Trek Captains and then a link or something?
Guess I have a short fuse today, but those LOOONNG comments and also the inability of people today to keep the sports thread reasonably LGF 1.0-free have made today on 2.0 feel like trying to drive down the main road and everyone is on their electronic devices with two thumbs while I’m trying to get around them and actually drive……

re: #566 by cane_loader
Ditto that. No essays. Post ‘em on 1.0.
re: #531 by FurryOldGuyJeans
That change that is observed by many began when CJ commenced to comment much more than he had in the past.
For years 1.0 became a blog pad that served many after his epiphany post 9/11. And because his new cause centered around his new found distaste for Muslims lumped with his backing of Bush and the War on Terror he attracted conservatives and also some liberals that agreed with him about the Islamic threat. After the Rahter incident conservatives flocked to his blog and made it what it became with brilliance in both analysis and writing skill. That was the hey day.
And then CJ reverted to 9/10 and saw that many of us, as believers, both Christian and Jew, chaffed against his own core faith that was now bereft of his old mindset. LIBERAL
And then he began to comment. He soon found those who agreed with him and used that lefty ego trough to feed in.
And so the purge began. First the fascist and supremacist angle and then the creationism v. evolution to find those who may disagree with him.
And now we see the outcome of mein kampf at 1.0. There is no allowance for disagreement for that one fine blog which once was and is now a cult or worse.

I sometimes feel sorry for many of those still left at LGF because of the way they allow themselves to be treated, but I really detest suck-ups which many of them appear to be.
How can anyone compromise their beliefs to remain at a site that ridicules them daily? LGF has become an open window to the minds and beliefs of this administration. CJ practices suppression of free speech and the demonization of individuals who disagree with him on a small scale. (and getting smaller every day from what I see) We see those same pressures being applied to groups by the Obama Administration. How much longer before the assault takes hold?
re: #534 by aussie_dave

What? No T-shirt? The nerve.
I know a lot of folks want to vent on CJ and LGF 1.0, but there’s a saying that the best revenge is a life well-lived. He and his acolytes lurk here and other places seeing what is said about them and report back to the others how horrible we are. I know– I was there a week ago before going over the wall.
My point is that the more we talk about them, the more we feed their egos. If it’s a choice between being talked about and being ignored, I believe they want to be talked about–even if it derision is being heaped upon them.
Some snide comments might be OK– but not the pile on’s…Just Saying.

I hear that. Cj has a big old jazzy thumb.
Now that is a quandary. I suspect, as many here have admitted staying there taxed common and good ‘ol sense. Those who remain are still enamored with a site that had its day in the sun, and can’t see its slouching towards Gomorrah, and remain to be part of a thing whose 15 minutes has long expired.

Still there Eliana?
re: #594 by song_and_dance_man
Absolutely!
Of course, he sees the people who have registered at LGF over the years as “readers” as if he’s a writer (and the only writer there).
What articles has CJ ever written?
Even in LGF’s best days, his writing consisted of picking articles or news stories and entering them as LGF posts along with a few sarcastic comments.
Most of his posts about the Arabs who call themselves “Palestinians” mostly consisted of: “Hey, let’s give them a state” (or something close to that).
He’s not a writer. The vast majority of the writing at LGF was done by the people he called “readers” (and I’m not just talking about quantity here).
The “readers” produced the highest quality of writing at LGF by far (more than anything that CJ ever did).
CJ isn’t a writer at all.
So this whole thing (LGF) was messed up long before it was obvious to most of us that it’s messed up.

Gordan, in his ‘tenure’ there got it right. 1.0 was a cut and paste site. With the exception of the Rather memo thing (which was lifted from a reader who gave him the tip off) there is NO original content.
And in comparison we have here tqc and n2l who are great writers and also the contributions of Delectable who kick the ponied tailed ones ass when it comes to comparatives in analytical and composition skills.
Cj banned his best thinkers and writers and wants to be the brightest bulb in the 1.0 chandelier. Too bad he is only 40 watt in an overwhelming 100 watt blogosphere.

It’s a technically accurate term for the people who comment on blogs, but it doesn’t begin to explain what went on at LGF. I think CJ is still fooling himself about this.
re: #610 by Bunk X
I thought your bicker bicker response was a challenge. As I said its been at least 30
years since I’ve seen the flick, but I did check out your quote. That is beyond goth and smacks of death metal.
I’m gonna have to re watch that movie now.
re: #615 by Eliana
If I were to watch a train wreck, I wouldn’t describe myself as a “reader.” If I took a picture of a railroad spike instead of the train, I wouldn’t describe myself as a photographer either. =)
re: #616 by song_and_dance_man
Naw. I very rarely challenge unless sheer stupidity raises it’s furry head without anyone else noticing.
Comments were all “Music Man.” Just for fun.
I got some great railroad tie photos for sale.
re: #612 by Bunk X
I think of him as a blog maven.
just looked at the clock
say goodnight Gracie
re: #619 by song_and_dance_man
heh. Think deeper…
re: #620 by song_and_dance_man
G’nite, Chet.
There is a thread on 1.0 mocking Sarah Palins resume. It is ironic that a hippie and a bunch of unemployed losers are mocking the work history of someone as successful as her. I know she never played a jazz guitar, but geez Chuck, give her some credit will ya?
Now if only our POTUS had such a solid background as Mrs. Palin….
re: #623 by tunnelrat
Palin is no threat to them, where as Pelosi is a REAL danger to all of us. Misplaced animosity focused on an honorable achiever.
Hope the night shift shows up soon. I’m outta here, tunnel.
re: #44 by Urban Infidel
Great pics – I’d like to know why NYPD was providing music for this parade, using tax dollars for a religious event.
Hmmm.
re: #16 by Speranza
re: #16 by Speranza
Oh, rest assured I do this… SelrahC isn’t worth a standalone post, but in the “stack of stuff” I maintain here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/833678/posts
Hit “skip to comments,” then hit “last”– using the “find” function in your browser, enter the search string “blogwarz” and hunt backwards– I have it all, including links, quotes, and whole essays written by The Banned of Brothers.
Morning everybody.
Good morning. This has probably been said alredy, but it seems like Chuck has baned most people with jobs.
His regulars sound like they peruse blogs all day . Look at Cato, he is pushing to get his one day jury duty per diem & Sharmua is always on. Further he seems to have attracted brainwashed college students like SpaceJesus, who did get a lot of extra money at MickeyD’s.
re: #628 by RIX
Morning Rix. I often wondered how some people could spend that long at that place for such a long time.
Even Mandy left several times a day for real life.
re: #628 by RIX
Well it is much easier to manipulate and control people who do not have a larger purpose in life. Those who provide for themselves tend to be more independent and strong headed. Most of Jim Jones’ followers where people who had no jobs or family.
There was a moment sometime shortly after Rathergate when I contacted the CinC (Charles in Charge) by email from an ABA convention. I had just left a panel discussion that involved some 1st Amendment issues relative to net neutrality and protections for bloggers such as those extended to the traditional press. I had up to the date documents and notes that showed how complete freedom of the press for the blogosphere was not seen as desirable amongst leftist in position of influence in the ABA. In my email I told Herr Johnson the particulars about why these opinions were against past precedent and harmful to liberty and pluralistic political debate.
I thought at the time that he would have an interest in inside info on a debate that was developing and ongoing considering the future of citizen journalism. I also thought that input and leads by ‘readers’ (beyond ‘hatips’) would be welcomed. I offered to give him a document dump that he could peruse for whatever ends in fighting the good fight. I didn’t even relieve a reply to my somewhat lengthy email.
I didn’t take this as a personal slight or offense but, it served to indicate that he may not have been up to the task of leading on a newsworthy item, or didn’t ultimately care about institutional protections on the free exchange of ideas. Further, it was at that point somewhat evident to me that he was not on board with Powerline or Volokh on fundamental issues….. or he could of just been lazy so I eventually just gave it a pass and didn’t dwell on it.
Alas….he never became the new New York Times, though there were probably hundreds of connected people out there willing to voluntarily help him compete at an influential level in the info wars.
Just when you thought that Charles beach photography can’t get better, he outdoes himself.
He has a pic up now of two beach goers, each with a pizza slice!
Groovy!
re: #630 by linoleumknife
re: #629 by Rightside
Charles does seem to have a rather odd group now.
re: #632 by RIX
What’s probably more pathetic than that piece of crap he calls fauxtography, is the fact that his RSM thread had all of 37 comments. Bwhahahahaha. I thought with all of his brain dead followers that one would have quite a bit more. I guess you can only kiss one man’s ass in so many ways before it’s redundant.
Good morning, y’all!
re: #635 by goddessoftheclassroom
{GODDESS}
Does that sound more masculine? LOL
re: #635 by goddessoftheclassroom
Good mornin’ Goddess. I hope to finds you well.
re: #634 by linoleumknife
When CJ goes on a rant about RSM or Vlaams Belang etc the posting gets so sloooooow.
You get the feeliing that the group just matches their tube socks, waiting for another thread.
{Rightside}
{linoleumknife}
1. I won’t make that mistake again!
2. Yes, I’m fine, thanks, and I hope you are, too.
re: #637 by linoleumknife
LOL, I messed that up. To=today
re: #638 by RIX
Yeah, they might be better off creating a resume. I suppose laundry is important too.
re: #639 by goddessoftheclassroom
Teasing, it happens. No way I could ever hold a grudge.
Did you get all your papers graded?
re: #639 by goddessoftheclassroom
Doing well. Just workin that night shift.
Three runners collapsed & died at the Detroit Marathon yesterday, FNC is reporting.
re: #641 by Rightside
Well, no, actually. I graded two sets of tests, though. I MUST get at least one set of essays graded today–I work well under pressure!
re: #643 by RIX
I could have sworn they said 9 last night before I went to bed. I may have misread it, but I see where they say 3 now.
re: #644 by goddessoftheclassroom
Morning Goddess. How is civilising the Visigoths going?
re: #644 by goddessoftheclassroom
Remind me never to play poker with you then…
re: #645 by Rightside
FNC is reprting three runners collapsed & dead.
I wonder if in all, nine collapsed?
re: #648 by RIX
It was the lede last night about 10pm est. Perhaps it was just collapsing, but the number did seem high.
re: #646 by RIX
{RIX}
I’m pleased with my progress!
All kidding aside, I’m in awe when I think about the first missionaries (after the fall of the Roman Empire–conversion at the point of a sword doesn’t count) working their way north to convert the pagans.
re: #647 by Rightside
I only play poker for “fun.” My ultra-strict grandmother ingrained in my brain that playing cards for money was wrong.
re: #649 by Rightside
Yeah, nine sounds like a lot, but three dead is an awful lot.
They reported that two of the dead collapsed at eleven miles & the other after completeing a half marathon.
re: #650 by goddessoftheclassroom
I think that I mentioned before that I taught high school for a year.
It’s like herding cats & I admire what you’re doing.
Good Mornin’ all!
Lord Monckton knows what’s up.
http://rightsidenews.com/200910176878/energy-and-environment/what-lord-monckton-said-at-dinner.html
I wish I could go tea party in Copenhagen.
re: #653 by RIX
You’re so kind! Teaching well isn’t for the faint of heart or the short of patience. I tell my student teachers that if they don’t absolutely love teaching to find another career.
re: #655 by goddessoftheclassroom
Very difficult job, but it may be the most fun job that I’ve ever had.
re: #656 by RIX
Oh dear, I didn’t mean that YOU were faint of heart or lacking in patience!!! I did not express myself clearly, and I’m sorry.
See y’all later. I have to get ready for work.
I went to get paid, so that I can send Charles some money so that he can keep purcasing disposable cameras, to keep posting those groovy beach pics.
Well, I must be off. Y’all have a good day.
I’m off, too–take care, y’all!
re: #657 by goddessoftheclassroom
Goddess, I didn’t take it that way.
You were clear. Have a great day!
I’m going to try and find and “Illegal Alien” costume for Halloween and wear it!
Offensive?
I think the REAL ones are ten times more offensive! They are CRIMINALS that need to be shipped home and STOPPED from returning!
Why do we tolerate these pathetic cries of “offensive” from parasitic organizations?
I grow intolerant of the intolerant.
Good morning. Overnight thread at LGF has 58 posts. This has 662. Nuff said.
Did the Eagles loose?
re: #663 by Rancher
Yes. McNabb 22-46. Hide your beagle…
Giants and Eagles both loose. Sweet.
McNab is overrated.
Racist.
re: #663 by Rancher
58 for an overnight? Wow. That says it all right there.
Good morning blogmocracy netizens!
If you haven’ seen my Muslim Day Parade report from yesterday, here it is:
http://urbaninfidel.blogspot.com/2009/10/muslim-day-parade-2009.html
re: #665 by Rancher
Ravens, Browns, and Bengals lose.
I’d be happier if my fantasy team would stop sucking so bad.
As a Steeler fan, I guess I couldn’t ask for more. But, as a Steeler fan I will. Five turnovers?
Not gonna work against the Vikings and Queen Favre next week.
How unfortunate that people ban illegal alien costumes but they do nothing about real illegal aliens
re: #666 by Urban Infidel
It’s not a parade without overpriced domestic beer.
re: #662 by Bumr50
“Illegal alien”. Every time I hear that I think of the line from ‘Aliens’ where someone says (about Vasquez) “Someone said ‘Aliens’, she thought they said ‘illegal aliens’ and signed up.” and the actress who played Vasquez had actually thought the movie was about illegal aliens, and had come dressed for that part.
re: #668 by Shug
I went to a pretty sizable public school that had NO, I repeat NO black students.
One of the more popular costumes was dressing up as a black person.
No one meant any real offense by it, and it was pretty humorous.
This was back late 80’s early 90’s.
I could only imagine now. We’d be on national media.
re: #669 by Bumr50
And girls in sequined tights shaking their pom poms..
re: #625 by ladycatnip
I just hope they played the Marine Hymn,
From the Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Tripoli
re: #672 by Urban Infidel
Here in Pittsburgh, we generally get excited about any time we’re allowed to drink outside on the street.
Since the city’s mired in a financial black hole, they like to have lots of parades and fireworks.
Keeps the simple folk distracted from the ongoing catastrophe.
Plus Zambelli is a local outfit, so I’m pretty sure we get the hometown discount on the fireworks.
re: #672 by Urban Infidel
they call them pom poms nowadays huh? morning to all.
Hey gunner.
hiya Right
ggggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
re: #675 by apachegunner
Morning!
The Steelers don’t have cheerleaders. We got these.
WARNING! NOT FOR YOUNG OR JEALOUS EYES! SFDW or whatever.

re: #625 by ladycatnip
To ‘liven’ things up? I don’t know. One thing for sure, the NYPD marching band and the dreary parade was a surreal combination.
At a couple of points in the videos, it almost sounds like shots being fired.
I’m off to grease the wheels of capitalism! sEE YOU LATERS.!
re: #673 by Peter
I remarked to a couple of inquiring tourists passing by that the band ought to be playing ‘Yankee Doodle Dandy’. They laughed.
re: #679 by Bumr50
lovely lady, then I see the name Bettis on the back. Ruined everything. Sigh.
TTFN
Just reading this am, off to the medicos with the wifffee, routine stuff.
TUSH!
Good morning to you all. What a funny thread I missed. This is a drive by though. Just want to correct the half ass liar known as Chuckie.
Truth: Amazon dropped the price of Sarah Palin’s book to nine dollars because of a price war with Walmart. Has not one thing to do with sales or anything else. YOU lying pos Chuckie.
Life must be hard for this girly man. Trying to tarnish everything not braindead liberal.
re: #682 by Rightside
Hey. He ran the ball well. I can’t help it if he doesn’t shut up now.
Lynyrd Skynyrd playing on F & F?
That’s disappointing. I’m pretty sure all ORIGINAL band members are dead.
re: #684 by Grimcargo
Good point. I am not sure that Chuckie ever read a book cover to cover, much less wrote one.
Good Morning everyone…
re: #687 by doriangrey
Morning dorian.
re: #688 by Rightside
Good grief, where is everyone this morning???
I is here!
re: #687 by doriangrey
morning dorian, slide you cup ovah here partner!
This has been a rough first month for me, as a member of LGF2. Mom died, and Dad needs a lot of help. Complicated situation, and damn it, I’m depressed.
I must say, though, that I’ve been getting lots of good laughs from this forum, which have been much appreciated. The Lizard Thing that went batshit-goofy this year is a rich source of humor, eh? I know some of you are sick of talking about Chuck, and eventually that sad clown will disappear into obscurity (and poverty, judging by his latest, plaintive pleas for support), but in the meantime he deserves all the righteous thumping he’s been getting.
The “Bite Me Comic” had me near tears, but his daily craziness is almost too over-the-top to satirize. How many faithful minions does he have left, about four? And they all subscribed to his newsletter? LOL!
wolfie,
Pleasantly surprised to read your nick on this thread. Wondering what took you so long?!?
re: #692 by garycooper
I am verey sad to hear about your Mom. I hope that your Dad recovers.
Dear Charlie J.
You would do well to quit blowing your own horn before you and your blog meet with the imminent demise. This might possibly leave you with a bit of self-respect of what once was.
What you apparently fail to understand concerning the vitriol Charlie is that unlike your previous opponents of radical Islam and KKKos persuasion, our comments are not to be threatening or intimidating. There is little in the way of hate as intention.
We are simply laughing at you and your arrogance. Real Americans love nothing more than to watch the haughty fall from grace – of which you have most ably demonstrated.
Like the once two-timing beauty with the slutty nature, time caught up with you Charlie and you’ve become the detestable hag…
re: #660 by goddessoftheclassroom
Goddess I keep missing you!
I will try to find you later, I have missed you!

{garycooper}
I’m sorry for your loss. I hope you have some help caring for your Dad.
That was a drive-by hug. I’ve got to get down to some real work now.
re: #613 by Eliana
“CJ can’t even begin to compete with real writers.”
Of all the critiques of CJ and his blog, that on has to sting– possibly because there’s more truth to it than any other. Rare is the occasion when I saw more than two consecutive paragraphs of original content from him.
692. garycooper
So sorry to hear about your mom. God bless and comfort you.
Looks like I got my 2¢ worth, since I see that there is a nice beach pic posted up over there. LOL
