Huffington Post Pulls Fake Limbaugh Quotes

At least one leftie blog has exhibited a modicum of honesty and decency by pulling the fake Limbaugh quote about slavery, via the Jawa Report,

Not sure if anyone has picked this up yet, but the editors at the Huffington Post have pulled the fake Limbaugh “slavery” quotes from a 2006 Jack Huberman article. Huberman’s book was one of the original sources for the fake quotes, apparently picking them up from the wikipedia entry where they first appeared.

A note at the beginning of the article now states:

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this post contained quotes attributed to Rush Limbaugh, which Limbaugh has since denied making. As is our policy when a fact in a blog post is called into question, we gave its author 24 hours to substantiate the quote. Since he has not been able to do so, the quotes have been deleted from the post.

So Huberman wasn’t able to back it up, they pulled the quotes. That’s fair enough, I guess. I wonder if the rest of the “fact-check” media will be honest enough to follow their online lead. Don’t hold your breath.

The Weekly Standard reported earlier today that this might happen. HT to them.

HuffPo is to be commended for at least having enough basic human decency to be honest for a change.  They are to be criticised for publishing an obviously fake slander in the first place.

This whole “racist Limbaugh quotes” thing amazes me.  It really does.  Even if you’re the type of brain-dead leftist who wants so badly to believe that Limbaugh was saying stuff that fulfilled your wild fantasies about what conservatives do and say, at least have enough common sense to step back and think rationally about the situation.

Face it, if Limbaugh had really said the things being falsely attributed to him, do you think we’d just now be hearing about it?  C’mon.  Every left-wing group worth its salt has at least one full-time staff member monitoring Limbaugh’s radio show every day just chomping at the bit to catch Rush in some racist or otherwise discrediting statement.  If Limbaugh had really thanked James Earl Ray on his radio show for assassinating Martin Luther King, Jr., it would have been front page news in the MSM for two weeks straight, starting about five seconds after he uttered the words.  Bet on it.

At least HuffPo did the honest thing and recanted on at least one of these obvious lies.  How much do we want to bet that certain other second-rate left-wing blogs won’t?

I for one am tired of all the “racist” boogie-man charges being thrown around higgeldy-piggeldy about this one and that one. Anyone else tired of this crap???

Rush’s schtick can get tiresome, but he’s not a racist, he’s not the new David Puke (I mean Duke), nor is he Hitler reincarnated.

Keeping the Fox out of the White House
    http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/columnist/raasch/2009-10-14-common-ground_N.htm
“Apparently, the Obama White House believes in diplomacy with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad but not Glenn Beck.

Two days after the president won the Nobel Peace Prize, Barack Obama’s communications director was on national television essentially declaring a message war on a major cable network that employs the abrasive commentator Beck, who recently called the president a racist.

White House Communications Director Anita Dunn accused Fox News of operating “as either the research arm or the communications arm of the Republican Party.”

It’s hard to understand this as a calculated move for a White House that has far bigger things to worry about — Iranian President Ahmadinejad’s nuclear ambitions being just one — than drive-by rants on cable television. But it’s part of a new strategy of more aggressively confronting conservative media that Dunn had forecast this month to Time magazine. White House battles with the media didn’t begin today, or even with Spiro Agnew’s feuds with the “nattering nabobs of negativism” in the paranoia of the Nixon White House.”

I don’t buy Fox as being a tool of the GOP. They are center-right, and honest about their editorial slant, but they aren’t anybody’s tool.

Rupert Murdoch was a Hillary supporter, and Fox broadcast TV is as LLL in slant as any of the other nets.

Murdoch is a businessman. ABC/CBS/NBC/PMSNBC/NPR/CNN have saturated the market for center left to hard left reporting and editorial, he just found a niche with Fox.

Now, George Staphylcoccus, head political reporter for ABC News, still participates in Demonratic Party strategy calls with Begala, Emmanuel and Carville, so ABC is much closer to being a wing of the Demonrat Party than Fox is a wing of the GOP.

By the way, good morning everyone!

This appears to be a carefully orchestrated smear that can be traced back to the White House, at least through DeMaurice DeThug’s connection to Eric Holder, and probably through that New York Law firm’s connections to the White House. Ariana is quite proud of her lefty “insider” status, so Puff Ho’s role was in my opinion scripted, even to the “retraction.”

The point is, it looks like malice could be shown, and those in the WH could be sued in their capacity as private individuals, and if and when further connections can be fleshed out the way could be cleared for the libel suit of the Century. It’s time the old NY Times v. Sullivan Law was revisted, anyway.

EU falls silent on funding for climate deal
    Published: 10.16.09, 14:51 / Israel News
The European Union has fallen silent on earlier talk of paying up to 15 billion euros ($22.4 billion) a year to poor countries as part of a deal to tackle climate change, draft documents show.

Finance and environment ministers are preparing for three days of meetings next week to discuss the funding, which has become a key sticking point in the run up to global climate talks in Copenhagen in December. (Reuters)

What is depressing is that except for Beck and a few others, No one on our side wants to take the gloves off. Instead many of the elite Conservatives have attacked Beck.

All our side likes to do is repeat the same old RNC talking points. We need to destroy the Progressive movement and expose them for their evil nature.

You are right. This is George H.W. Bushism all over again. Republicans think that the Democrats are “my distinguished colleagues” but the Dems hate their guts. This is a blood sport and I think you fight to win. Beck is not even a Republican. Republicans lack the moxy and you can see that by the bull shit candidates they put up – Bush I, Bush II, Ford, Dole, Kemp, McCain.

Back in the day (he says, sucking dentures into place), elevators required operators–and this was a job often filled by the mildly-to-not-quite-so-mildly retarded (if that word is OK).

They didn’t mind the boring up and down sameness; in fact, they took to it better than someone of larger mental capacity. And they had jobs, and were, thereby, productive and independent members of society.

The advent of elevators which were operated by pushbuttons only–not to mention those new abominations which need to be pre-programmed if you want to get your floor–totally destroyed this employment niche which suited people of limited capacity.

    Israel’s Secret War on Hezbollah

Of course it includes the obligatory:

In 2006, on both sides of the border—and elsewhere in the Middle East—Hezbollah was seen as having triumphed. Not only was it able to withstand the vastly superior invading Israeli force, but it also inflicted heavy military casualties and brought civilian life in northern Israel to a standstill with its rockets.

Hezzies claim a “win” while the world screamed at Israel for using “disproportionate force”.

Gaah! It makes me want to pull my hair out.

Israel will have to fight Serb/Spanish style to destroy Hizballah. This time they are ready and want a pretext to attack Hizb’Allah. In the next round Israel will unleash 100,000 troops and probably even use Nerve gas.

I will sit back and cheer watching the Shia Lebanese run out of there. I despise what they have done to Lebanon. They should go back to Iraq and Syria where they came from. Lebanon should be Christian!

I have been discussing the LGF stuff with my brother who is a 55 year old MD. He had this observation:

“I have been going over to LGF lately, out of curiosity.

I noticed that today, charles has material from a thread on Hotair.com. It consists of remarks from posters who charles says are banned LGF former members.

So it is not enough that one has play Johnson’s sycophantic cheerleader, it looks to me that he is so petty, that he stalks banned members around the web, in order to “show” all of the rest of us that that person is “bad”.

It’s really amazing to watch. I think Johnson is a psycho, malicious, and dangerous.”

Israel has 200 Nukes, the UN can’t do crap. I’m Glad Bibi and Liebermann are in charge. They’ll tell the UN to take a hike. South Lebanon should be turned into a desert. The Shia were illegal immigrants from the 50’s and 60’s who ruined a once Christian nation. I have no sympathy or mercy for them. I despise them!

You know, there’s a serious point which damn few are noticing and the MSM is not connecting the dots here. The Russians’ preemptive nuke strategy coupled with their unwillingness to back Iranian sanctions means that the abandonment of the East European missile shiled –by BHO and his SecState HRC–was a waste. We got royally owned by the Russians and lost a lot of good will in Eastern Europe.

    That is a real disaster.

I’m noticing an interesting phenomenon over @ the funny farm. Overnight participation has dropped to near nothing, but it picks up as soon as Dear Leader wakes up. I think I know why. With no Dear Leader present, the dings are pretty worthless. They’re saving their dings for Dear Leader.

Actually, he might not have much of one. He’s a public figure and the standard for libel is much higher than that for ordinary citizens. He would have to show “actual malice” and that is a high burden of proof. The actual malice standard requires that the plaintiff in a defamation or libel case prove that the publisher of the statement in question knew that the statement was false or acted in reckless disregard of its truth or falsity. Because of the extremely high burden of proof on the plaintiff, and the difficulty in proving essentially what is inside a person’s head, such cases—when they involve public figures—rarely prevail.

The flip side is that he would have to show actual damages–which being kicked out of the Rams consortium might be compensable. But, we are talking about litigation which would cost millions and take a great deal of time.

Limbaugh’s decision to fight this over the airwaves might be the better tactic.

Look who these bastards go after: Rush, Glenn Beck, Sarah.
These Patriots are doing the most to wake up Americans to what the Dem. party has become. It has been taken over by radical 60’s hippies, now in 3 piece suits and in positions of power to spread their commie ideology.

My in-laws, pushing 80 yrs. old, and die hard Dems in the old tradition are seeing the light. When the Dems lose the old people they know they are in big trouble. And they are losing the elderly citizens. Just remember how many gray headed little old ladies were in DC on Sept. 12.
This group of Americans is paying attention. They have so much to lose and they are realizing it. My MIL was complaining about not getting the COLA increase in her SS. And very concerned about Health care.
Being a Dem does not equal being a communist to most Americans.

I won’t be bought for 250 dollars. The people who hold the statistics for COLA’s are lying so SS doesn’t have to give a COLA for next year. Obama then thinks he can buy off the seniors wrath for 250 each, elitist that he is. To quote his wonderful wife, what can you buy for 250 dollars, “A pair of earrings and you are done.” Remember that one?

I supposedly start receiving SS benefits in January. I say supposedly because I figure by then Obama will decide I don’t need it.

I was just in an a Huffpo thread about the Kevin Jennings fiasco.

They were defending him to the rooftops. And then they all started to take off on the “rethugs”.

It seems like those on the left are totally blind to their own hypocrisy. They rail about how hateful Rush is then proceed to debase everyone they don’t agree with.

I always try to inject some sanity but they do not want to hear and just call me a Faux News watcher. Wow, maybe I should lock myself up!

The hate spewing from the left is worse than ever! It is like they have been set free to rape and pillage and then get their checks, homes, cars, etc. If the O was any kind of leader he would stand up and say that dividing our country is not a good idea. Instead it is like he is trying to divide us.
