I know the title might lead one to believe that I might have a regular thing with this. The truth is, I haven’t been paying as close of attention to what’s been going on. First post here, been lurking for about 2 weeks and just wanted to say “hi” & a hearty “congrats” on the explosion of posts and new members.
Little background on me, was a lurker on 1.0 since Rathergate. For me at the time, it was the 1st (and usually only) place I went everyday. I posted sometimes (under a nic I’m sure most of you would never remember) but read just about every thread that interested me, sadly donated to B.K to “help out” after Katerina, withessed the Friday Night massacre in live time, etc… so I’m quite familiar with a whole bunch of you and glad to see you guys again in one place.
I wish I could say I was “flounced” with a dramatic farewell, but I actually walked away about a year ago…the whole crusades against Geller/Spencer, the “Euro-fascists”, The creationists, The Upding/downding etc…it just started to smell bad to me so I discovered other sites and just occassionally peaked in to see if things had improved. Alas, sadly they did not.
Now that Mr Johnson has completely lost his sanity, I felt it was important to register here and let you guys know that I’ve been here everyday for 2 weeks now and this is fast becoming a favorite site.

All ethernet devices have a unique 48-bit code called the Machine Address Code. It’s supposed to be burned into your computer or router, but it usually can be changed. It’s like an IP address in some ways, but it’s more built in to the hardware.

The most interesting thing to me are those that fully disagree with CJ, but stay there anyways.
I saw a poster here(say he saw things happen to good people there that he disagreed with but still stayed because of the feeling of “community”.

I gets a little more complicated, because routers can have inward facing MACs and outward facing MACs. I know that there are some professional network people with better TCP/IP fu than me. You really need a hardcore to be sure that you’re bulletproof. And with some modems and routers, it may simply not be possible.

“Garage Hall Days Revisted” was released in the 90’s and has great covers (my fav is the Mercyful Fate medley”

I think it’s more a matter of deep-seated psychological problems.
I think there’s a more charitable explanation, at least in some cases—people ask to have their accounts deleted for essentially the same reason that a problem drinker says “Please take my car keys away!”
As I know many here will attest, LGF can be more addictive than pistachio nuts rolled in crystal meth. And disgruntled Lizards who’ve decided that it’s best to go the “amicable divorce” route may fear that they’ll be tempted back on some lonely Friday night when the weather sucks and there’s nothing good to rent at Blockbuster. And the next thing you know, there’s screaming and crying and total-public-meltdown stuff. So, having the foresight to say “please take my LGF keys away” could be a wise and quite commendable idea for people who know they have self-control issues.
Obviously, this interpretation is only plausible in cases where the exit is done in a quick, graceful way, without an angry multi-post screed or other DQ bridge-burning. But I can certainly see why some people would publicly request their accounts be blocked just to “keep themselves honest,” as it were.

Well, I try to go by a modified version of Hanlon’s Razor and exclude all other options before assuming “malice.” But then again, I have the luxury of NOT having been in your chair for the past eight years. If I’d endured 1/100th as much malice and venom as has been flung at you over the years, I guess I’d probably find a hell of a lot harder to give people the benefit of the doubt. And forgive me for having added to your troubles with the frog shit and the abortion debate. LGF is such a wonderful place and I really would like to do some small thing to improve it, but the only thing I’m good at is candor, Russian translation, and dick jokes. And since dick jokes and Russian are fairly useless, candid feedback is all I’ve really got to offer.

Fair enough, but I’d suggest you read my 415.
One doesn’t need to be attributing malice to all those individuals to accept that what I say is true. Some of them are malicious, and they go on to display that. The others either have psych problems, or they want to impress their new buddies. And often it’s a combination.
It really wouldn’t be hard to email Charles privately and nicely ask for an account deletion, if one really was having some kind of internet addiction problem. But they don’t do that.

Apparently I had some sort of drug- or alcohol-induced memory blackout in which I went on a rampage of apologia on behalf of dozens of different “flouncers”, in which case I must beg forgiveness and blame the demon rum.
But as far as I can actually recall, the only individual I went to any length to defend was wahabicorridor—a gesture I felt I owed her because I know her real name, I’ve shaken her hand, I’ve eaten at her house, and she even remembered to ask about the health of my pet Rugby, after the long period I’d been away from LGF. And she’s never given me reason to regret trusting her.
In any case, although wahabicorridor and I aren’t in any sense “close friends,” I have fond memories of her, and so I took some personal offense when you and Sharmuta chose to tarnish her as having acted spitefully with regard to the handling of the prayer list. (You could’ve been magnanimous and said, instead, “Whoops, she probably just forgot to give the list to someone else because she was momentarily ticked off”—it would’ve made you look a lot better.)

Speaking of Kill ‘em All, when that was released in the early 80s (82 or 83) I was working in a record store in an Air Force town in Texas which also included lots of local rednecks up to their neck in Iron Maiden and Priest. Well, when we first heard “Kill ‘em All” we employees looked at each other and said WTF is this? And it was like honey to a fly when I played that LP (yes it was vinyl) for the right group of customers. I put on “Kill ‘em All” and sure enough half a dozen locals and Air Force guys (”Pingers” in the local parlance) would come to the counter and ask “who the fuck is this” and would always buy a copy. We couldn’t keep “Kill ‘em All” in stock for a while when it first came out.

My two wireless routers are piggybacked, usually.
I set them both up to accept only certain MAC addresses in my house (eg, computers and cell phone MAC addresses) and also they accept each other so that either one can be connected to the modem or piggybacked through the other wireless router.
People in my neighborhood can see both of my wireless networks, but no device except my own computers, routers and cell phones can get a password prompt to be accepted into either of my secure networks.
I can reconfigure them at the drop of a hat so that either one of them can be plugged into the modem as the internet connection for the second router.
Either way, I’m sitting behind two firewalls (two wireless routers) at all times in my home.
I’m not extra paranoid — I just ended up with two wireless routers and I didn’t want to waste the extra one and wanted it up in case the other one flakes out.

First of all, I am a long time lurker
Second of all, many blogomacracy people may dislike me since I have on a number of occasions as a LGF regular called you mentally ill stalkers.
I have not yet done the psycholgical exam on you so I will reserve judgement but in lurking I have determined that almost all of you are OK.
In following hte example set by Rodan I wuold like to apologize for my remarks in that regard. As I have said, I have lurked here for a while and have seen Rodan set quite a nice example of humility and that he has apologized for some thigns he has done. This has inspired me to comment her and to apologize for things I have said about you folks.
At the time I believe I was under inflience of a modified Stockholm Syndrome. I did and said things that I didn’t believe in just to get karma points and to belong to an on-line community.
That is not to say that I endorse everything that has ever been done here.
But I called you people a stalker blog, even though I spent a lot of time stalking you
( since I left LGF, I haven’t even looked at it once, but I see they are looking at me posting on the VERY BENIGN blog run by many friends of mine where I am priviliged to comment and to be a part of )
So as a former stalker, I say : you guys have a good group here.
I can’t get on board with the anti-LGF sentiment since I don’t share it.
They went far left. My friends there are no doubt victims of the same sayndrome I beat : A love of the karma points.
Unfortunately for me and those of us that loved to participate there( I was a proud participant there for over 3 years and 18,000 plus comments) they have had an influx of scumbags like Jummah, iceweasel and others. And some long term friends of mine have forgotten who they are and have shifted left in the groupthink
and now specifics: you folks trash irish rose. Sorry I won’t go there. I helped her get out to see her son off on deployment and I would do it again tomorrow. She is a nice lady and her son is a hero serving our country and before you bash her, remember that. It was REALWEST who orchestrated the effort to get her out there. It’s too bad that people on LGF might have trashed me and realwest when we are good people.
I wish everybody would quit trashing each other.
If you disagree with the scumbags who have taken over LGF, just leave as I and realwest did. Don’t fixate on them.

I went scorpion hunting tonight with a UV flashlight and can of scorpion killer spray.
It is awesome how the UV makes them glow. I got 13, most along the perimeter wall. If we didn’t live in town I would get a .22 revolver loaded with shot and just blast ‘em. I used to do that to black widows and it leaves nothing but a smudge, but doesn’t do any structural damage to anything.

CJ and the remaining LGFers do read Blogmocracy on a regular basis, so they know that we don’t have any overlords here. This blog isn’t based on a cult of personality for any one person (or even several people).
When they analyze this blog, they act as if we’d all want to go back to LGF if we could. They couldn’t be more mistaken.
Blogmocracy is a breath of fresh air compared to the dictatorship blog where we used to hang out.

It’s a lot like getting over a bad relationship. Personally, I liked it over there for a long time and it took a lot of thought and soul searching to pack up and leave.
In retrospect, I feel like I was abused. When I left, I simply asked that my account be closed and thanked CJ for the 2 years I spent there. There was no spewing of vitriol; I was honorable and civil and it was about 2 sentences.
I was immediately deleted, and the remaining sycophants called it a “flounce”.
I have A LOT of anger with a lot of those people. Anyone who ever read what I wrote can attest to the fact that I conducted myself as a gentleman; I did so going in, and did no less going out. There were a number of honorable people who exited this way before me, and after me, and they were all treated with the same disrespect. I am angry for them as well.

Anger at Charles and his minions is quite justified.
The other day, CJ also trashed Carl in Jerusalem viciously (LONG after Carl in Jerusalem had been banned). CJ’s reasoning was insulting to Israel.
Supposedly, CJ still supports Israel but CJ doesn’t know Israel well enough to keep from insulting Israel when he sets out to trash a former LGFer.
It’s going to be awhile before I stop being angry about this (in addition to some of the other things I’ve seen CJ do in the last two years and more recently).
Charles has earned the anger that people have for him.

Yeah, those critters can be pretty exciting. So far, the worst thing we’ve had is a baby rattlesnake that Mrs. Federalist found in the bathroom one morning.
Other than that, the occasional scorpion and black widow. I’ve lost count of the number of rattlesnakes that have found their way into the yard. Unlike you, I don’t live in the city, so Mr Snake meets Mr. Shovel if possible, or Mr. .22 if he’s in a hard to get place.
Besides the personally therapeutic side of it, getting together to analyze and deconstruct their mindfuck machine is a blast!

Another person walked over towards it and the rattle snake arched itself up into an attack position while rattling like crazy. The guy was within six feet of the snake (which was well within its striking distance).
We all whispered urgently to this guy, “BACK. AWAY. SLOWLY.”
He very slowly backed away and we got into the car to go out. When we returned, the snake had found another place to hang out.

It’s pretty clear that Obama intends to try to force Israel to kick 500,000 Jews out of their homes in Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem (while also trying to force Israel to accept 4 or 5 million Arabs inside Israel as citizens).
Obama is going for the Saudi Peace Initiative and this is precisely what it calls on Israel to do.

In reality, rattlers can only strike about 1/2 the length of their body. Larger diamondbacks such as in the Mojave or in Colorado can be more aggressive than that diamondbacks we have down here. However, given that we have a youngster, I don’t let any that we find live. It’s just too much of a chance to take. They have more than 3 acres they can live on and nobody will bother them, once they get into or around the yard, they are in *my* space and that’s too bad for them.

Well, for what it’s worth–I think CJ’s sold the site and someone else is sitting in his seat at the computer. I used to read (long, long ago) Wonkette–when it was a young woman’s blog. She was witty–and sharp–very funny even if I didn’t agree with her–then she hit the big time and sold the blog name to (I think Time or the Washington Post) and three snarky, clueless, mean-spirited men took turns being Wonkette.
Couldn’t that have happened to Charles–but he doesn’t want anyone to know? I know this is really absurd, but how can anyone turn around so quickly? He doesn’t post bike pix anymore, and seems to be around 24/7–angry and paranoid. The old CJ didn’t seem like that, and I was around since the Rather thing.
I also tipped the sob with no thanks, no acknowledgment–nada, niente. I haven’t flounced or fled–just lurk to watch the train wreck. I have to say that I get a great kick out of AOShq’s eviscerating comments about LGF. It must make the head Gecko seriously deranged when he reads them–and, of course, we KNOW he reads them!

I’m in it for the laughs, at this point.

When I was a kid, my family was visiting some of my parents’ friends who were up in the northern part of Maine for some reason one summer. I was 8 years old and a neighbor kid who lived near my parents’ friends gave me a snake to hold.
I walked over to the dining room window where my parents were sitting and held it up for them to see. They both nearly had nervous breakdowns. After I was parted from the snake, the kid who gave it to me heard about it from his parents after mine went over to have a loud chat.
I don’t know what kind of snake it was, but I think it had the ability to bite me. The kid had me hold it at the head and at the tail.

I absolutely love Tucson. I thought the heat would get to me, but it doesn’t. I go from my air conditioned home to my air conditioned car to my air conditioned office. The most dramatic footage I’ve ever seen from the IDF was taken during the Gaza war earlier this year when they showed a suicide bomber hiding in some bushes while IDF combat soldiers approached while spread out in the area in case of ambush.
One of the soldiers spotted the suicide bomber and ran to him to lift the guy up before he exploded. The soldier was protected almost entirely by body armor so he was only lightly injured. No one else was hurt, I believe, because the soldier who lifted up the suicide bomber absorbed the blast in his own body armor.
It was a stunning video showing all the IDF soldiers living through this suicide bomb ambush.

I make those exact points. There are significant and frequent accusations against the RC church, yet very few criminal convictions….pedophiles do not quit the behavior, so I find it odd that so many 30-40 year old losers manage to accuse a priest from 20 odd years ago in a “CIVIL” suit to make mad skads of money they feel they deserve and you cannot find a current 12 year old with the same complaint against the same guy?
If these things happen, it stands to reason that these priests would continue to behave in that way, and thusly, providing authorities an opportunity to accuse, investigate and prosecute a current case of child abuse. Funny tho, it rarely gets there. Just a civil suit, that requires little evidence, and these people become rich, and frequently because the cost of settling is cheaper, the church looks guilty. Pisses me off, and I am not an every Sunday Catholic…
What I do notice of the 1.0 world, is those ratbastards are real quick to the condemnation without looking one time at a single fact…the king shouts off with his head and the loozards cheer…

I tried to make an analogy when the Kilgore incident occurred. i said something to this effect, hindsight is 20/20 but maybe KT should have done what computer security professionals do when they find a true vulnerability in an operating system. They tell the software publisher, hey, we found a hole in your system and here it is. They then tell them to patch it as soon as possible or within a timeframe. If the software publisher ignores the valid report of the vulnerability and take no action, then they go forward and publish the details. I have also recently made an interesting observation regarding LGF’s radical shift. Look at the tag-lines for recent threads and see how different topics are described and the particular words being used.
The threads about the recent Islamic terrorist busts in the USA don’t even mention the word “Islam” or “Jihad” in the tags at all.. Compare that to what the tags look like when there is a thread about people on the right.

I’ve had good day so far (it’s afternoon here) and part of it is learning that one of the Russia’s toadies may get the attention of Disney lawyers. I guess a bit of an explanation might be needed, so here it goes.
The toadie in question is Johan Bäckman, who has done among other following things:
*Claims that Soviet Union never occupied Estonia.
*Claims Estonia has no future, calls it “apartheid-state” and that the removal of the Soviet era statue by Estonians was the end of their history.
*Calls all nations that have regained their independence from Soviet occupation as pseudo-states.
*Spread lies (about current court case dealing with Russian woman who kidnapped her son to Russia) to Russian media, agitating them and Russian ministry of foreign affairs against Finland.
Now he has gone uninvited to the invitational showing of the new Finnish movie “Kuulustelu” (The Interrogation), filmed it with some device or another and then put it to Youtube… and made some more outrageous claims. I do hope that Disney won’t be forgiving, but will kick his lily ass hard.
The movie itself I will go and see. I heard that it is set entirely in one room, as it deals with the interrogation and breaking or a Soviet desant (born in USA to Finnish parents, moved to Soviet Union with them, eventually sent to some gulag or another until she was sent to her mission). It’s historical movie, as she was broken in series of interrogations. It should be interesting movie.

In general, if banned once, I don’t see any reason to go and re-register. Then again, when it comes to bannings I also prefer the more civilized approach and ban very cautiously and always consulting at least one person to get different opinions. But what can I say? I prefer discussions and arguments to sycophantic behaviour.

To shug, I wish to say that your intent is fine..and I do not blame you for your past actions….when people were banned and I was there, like most everyone else, I kept my mouth shut. I didnt want to lose my hard earned Karma points or my account be speaking mu mind…Mostly, when I got to about 600 points, I felt I could speak a bit closer to what I really thought…and take the 50-60 point hit for it.
(tho I couldn’t see how the numbers added up at all)
I was banned and then called a racist by charles, I tried to explain that my comment, exactly like cato the idiots, and another’s had nothing at all to do with race. No answer from charles..in fact nothing..he ignored me for a few days, then slammed me when I told him my feelings and screamed when I came here.
That was aug 16…I have been pretty pissed at chuckie over my treatement..and that was fueled by the knowledge that I couldnt speak my beliefs without being banned and the stalkerish way his minions attacked my every post after a run in with shamuta and jimmah. A couple of months or so of feeling like bin laden in a cave under a US tank had made me angry, yet like a fool, I endured it.
This place has healed the majority of that anger, tho not all.
The only good thing I have to say about what happened to me is that not having been given my account back, I was forced to replace it. Even with a mouthful of salivaed manure from 1.0, I was willing to remain front teeth full of it just to be there. Dumb and blinds I was. Now instead of lizard breath, I got ny dragon breath back..and it is minty clean, let me tell ya.
Others will need the healing that I got here as much as I did. Soon, there will be even less reason to speak or dwell on 1.0, than there is to discuss last years want ads.

You’re right. You keep quiet and wonder WTF is going on. It’s like having a group of friends suddenly begin to apply the Allinsky trick: pick a target, isolate, and annihilate! This happened to me once in high school –and I recognize the pattern. One girl would always say snarky things about her BFF, as soon as said BF wasn’t around. One day, I’d had enough and called her on it. My heart was pounding when I did, my face scarlet and hot as hell. I still recall (40 years ago) what it felt like to find out what happened next. Suddenly it was I who was persona non grata. Everyone in that group exiled me–even though several called me to let me know that THEY weren’t mad at me and that I had DONE THE RIGHT THING.
At first (for about a week), it hurt like hell–then I just decided I would be my own best friend. That worked for me. Luckily, the friends I made after that–are genuine friends and still are. So…getting banned by my little clique was the Best thing that ever happened to me. Cured me of group think in time–and even now when I spot it–I call it.
Having said that, I can’t help but be morbidly fascinated with that imploding train wreck at 1.0. And hey–what about not even calling ourselves “lizards” any longer? I never really liked the idea of being A COLD-BLOODED, SCALY REPTILE!!!

Well played. I hung out there and wached the events unfold and did not take sides. I saw when posters I cared for “flounced” as the chorus of jackels over there delighted in it. I never commented on it but on occasion would express regret that people I respected felt the need to leave. It was just this last week where I saw that the trend into the shitosphere was to continue that I could no longer take it. I had been at 1.0 since before registration (probably 2002) and always appreciated the site. It wasn’t Charles as much as the posters that posted there. When they were all basically banned, it was easy for me to jump ship. This is more like 1.0 than the current 1.0. You cannot have people like Iceweasel, Jimmah, Gus802, and Sharmuta setting the tone for a place and have decent people stay. I don’t dwell on it and hope that as we move on we can leave the Chuckie crap behind us. I do know that to be accused of something you are not is very painful and A LOT of folks over here and oher places were accused and outed and stalked. That, to me, is unforgivable.

In my old business, which was propane and natural gassed based..I sold grills, fireplaces, ran lines, hooked up appliances and such…I never went against my gut intincts nor ever cut a corner. It was my duty to my custoomers to protect them…and I did, even when it cost me a sale. My work could have killed them if I had done so and no one was more aware of this fact than I, having seen the results of allowing sloppiness to enter. I never allowed myself the luxury of corner cutting or not speaking the truth to customers.

FWIW – I said before Glenn Beck did (right here on this very blog) that it’s a much better thing that Barack Obama is president than John McCain, and I’ve also said that I stand by that.
I find it interesting that Mark Levin has grabbed a hold of this and taken it completely out of context, and is using it to trash Beck, a man who’s done more for conservatism than 20 Levins.
And I respect Mark Levin.
But the fact of the matter is that politically intellectual types do NOT (as much as we would like) make the world go round, and life has given the average American a pretty good handful of things to deal with other than Iran on a daily basis.
Beck’s simple, emotional, and honest delivery brings the message home for those folks who don’t have time to source their commentary.
While it may not seem significant at this juncture, Levin has enough clout to pull a large amount of people apart at a time when togetherness is of the utmost importance. Someone needs to confront him about his obstinance (sp?) and ego.

For those of you wondering if LGF was sold or if there was a sudden personality change; forget about it. He just didn’t comment much or even write clear analysis with the anti-jihad threads. He never cared for comparative theology; all religious types gross him out for his entire life. He ignored all of this during the LGF heyday.
It is about the Benjamin’s though. He never did like or intend to associate/fellowship with conservatives, Christians, Jews, military personnel, etc.
For an example look at all the child abuse threads he posted about Palestinian kids. Very little writing and analysis explaining why. He thinks the same about Christian, military and Jewish families and what we teach our children.
Now he is freeing himself to better pursue the Benjamin’s under the Obama power trip. He has no other real cause and definitely never intended to be a leader of American conservatives.
So lower your expectations concerning him and build a better effort supporting better leaders and keep to the cause of freedom and justice as started by our founding fathers, our military and our freedom-of-religion and freedom-to-pursue-happiness seeking ancestors.

It irks me in particular because, given a choice, I would actually listen to Levin over Beck only because Beck tells me things I already know.
Glenn Beck really opened my fiancees eyes in a way that I couldn’t and it was then that I realized his impact. And the more I see of him the more I like him. Do I find him over-the-top, sappy, and obnoxious? Definitely.
But he handles himself with such humility that I’d be happy if I had a kid that they would look up to him as a role model. I have no doubt he’s real.

Well, your corespondence and thoughtful points were certainly helpful. When I first responded, I was in the questioning stage, but still in denial.
It took a couple of weeks to finally see the reality; there were fewer and fewer threads that I felt comfortable posting on as it was clear that I would face the wrath of “the Hive”.
Eventually, I looked around and noticed that there were fewer and fewer of the posters that I respected and enjoyed. I also noticed that, when these “old friends” departed (many with style and grace), the ululation of “The Hive” and it was sickening. There was never any introspection as to why they left, or respect for an honest difference of opionion; it was always considered a “flounce”, a word that came to turn my stomach. It was like a pack of wild dogs eating their own.
In short, thank you Zimriel, for your support and kindness.

Shug pointed out the diffrence between us and CC. Sure we here take shots at some of the folks at 1.0. They in turn have taken plenty at us here. Thats life. Some of the shots are low down and cheap, but I’d rather some one trash me where I can see it and reply vs doing it behind my back in Princess’ hidden threads. Alos I don’t like the idea of sniffing out peoples private identities. When some one posts links on anothers blog to their real ID, fine, but when it is sifting phone books and computer ID trails, thats stuff that violates privacy IMHO.
You know, what I noticed was that the kindly, supportive words, playful pun competitions, civil disagreement vanished as more and more “lizards” were banished. The up-suckers and backstabbers are firmly in charge. I remember when the PTO (pony-tailed one) rarely commented. Gee, the good old days. I really enjoyed the comments from all of those I see here–and Savage (wherever you are), I saw the banning. The first I ever saw–although I was around just after Babba left. CJ seemed quite sad about that, remember?

I voted for McCain. However, I was not pleased with him as the Republican presidential nominee. I AM glad he brought Sarah Palin to the big audience, though–even if she might not be happy about it now.
However, McCain seems to be a hostage to the senate–much like others who run who have been in the senate for a long time. They seem to pull their punches because of old associations. I don’t want a POTUS like that. I have a lot of admiration for McCain, though. His office went to great lengths to help someone (I put them in touch) who was being relentlessly hounded by the IRS–and said person was not only a disabled vet, but had Lew Gehrig’s disease (spelling), and no one to help (he lives out left coast way). McCain’s office completely fixed everything even getting a letter of apology to my friend from the IRS!!!
I remember when he came home from Vietnam, too. So, he was the nominee. I voted for him.
Now, truly, if he had won–we might be rockin’ along in complacency. Obama has certainly rousted the sleeping and those lines about being vigilant to be free? Well, it’s show time, everybody!

I was a commenter who just walked away, no flounce no bounce. I joined here not long after Savage got the boot, but chose not to use my 1.0 handle for very obvious reasons. I went back not long ago and found I was banned, or at least I couldn’t get in. I didn’t get any message saying I was banned though.
I thought about flouncing, but was actually keeping my nic alive for other reasons.
I don’t know that Charles could track back between me, my personal blog and here. I have a diffrent computer then I used for 1.0, and a diffrent ISP. So I’m assuming that I was one who got the wack just out of spite.

Good point. Actually, I think that the assignment of a name lends itself to the whole “group identity” thing. That can be healthy or not, and it’s proven to be unhealthy at LGF. It fuels the “us against them” mentality and, as the circle tightens, “being a lizard” rises in value, in their eyes.
I also agree that “Lizard” would not be my first pick as a mascot, but I seem to remember that it was once used as a term of derision toward the site, then adopted freely as an “in your face” move.

Charles doesn’t want to just control what is said on his blog. He feels he has the right (or should have the right) to tell everyone what they can or can’t say on the internet, and even what other blogs you can post on (Thou shalt have no other blogs before Me). That is why he goes nuts when someone like you or I post over here.
That played an important part in my decision to come here. After all the “stalker” propaganda it felt like I was saying the Lord’s Prayer backwards or something. The truth, though, is that we are more like LGF used to be. That shoud be no surprise because we are mad up by a sizable percentage of the posters who were on LGF a few years ago.
This pisses Charles off. As I said, he thinks he should control what boards he disciples are permitted to post on, who they are permitted to talk to or associate with. It isn’t just here. He banned Realwest, 3 wood, and the rest because they were posting on a blog that he haddn’t personally approved of. He claimed that they were all plotting (it’s a conspiracy) to flounce, but I read the threads and nothing like that was going on. Charles was reading the script scraweled on the inside of his forehead again.

So far, I’ve seen one moderately snarky comment from JammieWearingFool, which apparently prompted yet another site-wide admonition from the administrators to leave grievances at the door. I have not checked the site exhaustively, but I’m not aware of any other incidents. If you have other examples, I’d be interested.
I can state with certainty that at the very least in the case of realwest, his intentions are not to “stalk”; very far from it.
Come on. They have to shut down comments overnight to prevent the threads from turning into bashing sessions. Many of the people posting there are also posting at the stalker blog. And their blogroll is full of sites that direct ugly vitriol at me on a daily basis. Curiously, they don’t have a link to LGF. Trying to keep from noticing them in referrals, I assume.

I notice at LGF it is very common to not address any merits, Glenn Beck is an example. They use ad hominem attacks and thus sidestep any actual arguments made.

I am old enough to remember the cold war and the dear neighbour of ours (I am Finn). I’ve read tons about the life in that system and that same control on where and with whom one can talk… it sends shivers down my spine. And those are not good shivers, mind you.
I believe in keeping contact to people we disagree with, not just with people we agree with. I believe in communicating with wide range of people. Heck, I used to hang and argue in forum that was mainly leftist… and they loved that I, as well as some other conservatives were there (yeah – strange bunch!). I did eventually leave when there too ideological purity wanters made it inhospitable, but my point is that I am all for keeping lots of contacts. It makes one see how there are many more points of view and that you can exchange ideas with people, hoping that either one of you will learn something from that.
And last point. In the aforementioned totalitarian systems that sort of mixing and mingling was forbidden exactly because of that. They were afraid that people would learn something that was not approved by the party.

I love that! There was a group of jocks in my old neighborhood that didn’t like me because I had long hair. I had the highest batting average in the league and I guess the combination of my long hair, highest batting average was just too much for some. I think that Charles used 9/11 to build his site to what it is today. Whether he believed any of it is now subject to question. He seemingly bacame a reformed 9/11 liberal and attracted many of us by flying that flag.
Now, confident in the success of his site, he has decided to make a left turn, seemingly ignorant of the fact that Conservatives are not one dimensional and flying the 9/11 flag will get him only so far. His putrid views and uncivil, megalomaniacal behavior has become alienating to scores of reasonable people.

CJ’s occasional blurb and programming didn’t make it. Being the easiest blog to post didn’t make either. CJ toys around with referrer statistics on his website. Those stats “prove” how unhinged stalkers are.
Using Firefox do the following:
1 Type about:config in the address -URL- field, and hit Enter – you’ll get a warning that you are going to Firefox’s core/
2 Look for network.http.sendRefererHeader
3 Change integer value to 0 in the prompt that pops up
4 Now you can go to LGF without CJ getting your referrer stat
I don’t use IE so I can’t offer a solution there.

There’s a huge flaw in the basic design. when you expect that volume of comments, you need to bage the comments. In fact that’s becoming a problem here. I don’t know if wordpress supports pages, but that would probably be a good idea.

My wife went on a missions trip to Russia 5 years ago, she told me that a Russian atheist is completely different from their American/western counterpart. The Russians that she talked to were completely open minded about God the supernatural and things about God, they were willing to listen and discuss the topic. The western atheist on the other hand takes a harsh stand against God and His people, LGF1.0 is a perfect example of this intolerance.

“Lobby” is “Table 9″ (parachat’s default is to call the main room a Lobby)… it is where all the action is.
“Table 10″ is set up as a permanent overflow room – or for those who want to talk in a quieter setting, about the game for example, and not have to filed three or four separate conversations. So far, people would rather be in where all the freewheeling talk is.
In time, if needed, the Lobby would be the entry point and a variety of rooms could be accessed from there – sports, politics, books, cooking – who knows.
We’ve been together since a few days before the “Lizard Lounge” closed, and we are always welcoming new and missing friends. Stop in any time.

In all seriousness, I have a ‘theory’. Everyone’s been trying to figure out why the hell the guy changed seamingly overnight. Changed his politics and shown some of his old cyber pals the door. Next thing you know you’re given a few rules:

3. Week nights are ‘out’ (and soon so are weekends)
4. No more off color jokes – they aren’t really that funny anyhow you know
