I don’t want to dump my next couple comments on the previous two threads, as I don’t want to demean or derail them, so here’s an open thread.
I get home from work and turn on Fox News, what do I see? Geraldo. Makes an introduction of the man who he feels, rather than Steele (the head of the gop) is the REAL leader of the black caucus……. Al Sharpton.
Geraldo, you radically leftist racist. You sit there and let Sharpton call Republicans racists and defend his own racist views. You coddled him then, when Ann Coulter came on, you let her make 2 sentences, then got in her face (interrupting her) and, instead of letting her respond, cut to commercial.
Then when it was her turn to talk again, you cut her off and cut to commercial.
What the hell is wrong with you, you racist supporting radical liberal? I don’t care HOW nice you are in person, what I just saw you do is a DISGRACE.

Knock, knock
Who’s there
Just, apparently according to Al Sharpton and not challenged by Geraldo, a racist by virtue of NOT being a democrat:
me.
ahhh… i like a new room…
howdy all
I got a question for everybody: Which Steven Seagal film features, in your opinion, his best action sequences?
“cut to commercial.”
He does that crap all the time.
seems to me that the the black caucus is a liberal caucus. do they even allow mike steele in there? or is he allowed in as the token republican?
re: #4 by coldwarrior
howdy
re: #5 by Morgan
Executive Decision.
Because his plane blows up.
*evil grin*
Holy shit : shug just flounced at 1.0
re: #3 by LanceKates
Racism is a disease of Liberals. Like I said earlier, when everyone is a racist, then no one is a racist. The Left, including the Obama Administration, are too quick to cry “Wolf!” over racism. There is a whole cornucopia of reasons to oppose the Obama Administration that have absolutely nothing to do with his pigmentation. It is the Liberals that can’t see anything beyond the color of his skin and see what those issues are. Blinded by color, they can’t see what great fools that have become. I hope we give them an Idea of the scope of our loathing in the 2010 elections.
re: #6 by Beltfed
yep, constantly.
that’s why i never watch his schtick on the tube.
i stay away from news channels on sundays..i need a break once a week.
re: #9 by LanceKates
Yeah, that was quite a sight. Never saw it coming.
re: #11 by Iron Fist
well they can kiss my oversized butt.
No one who supports a black person BECAUSE THEY’RE BLACK and lets any horrible events blink by out of blind racist support has NO ground to stand on when it comes to calling anyone else racist.
Even worse is Geraldo, letting Sharpton call republicans racists, then by virtue of not even confronting him, agreeing with him….. then shoves crap in Coulter’s face and then cuts to commercial after interrupting her.
I’d just not go on his show again if I were Coulter.
Repeat from downthread.
Shug went poof.
re: #13 by Morgan
yup. I had a friend that paid for a ticket to the movie, opening day, and was rather upset as they were a BIG fan, heh.
re: #5 by Morgan
Marked for Death. I loved the sword work at the end of the movie. Segal ain’t much of an actor, but he is the real deal when it comes to martial arts. Akido is a serious style. It isn’t as flashy as some, but it is effective. It is a hard style to learn (as opposed to just a hard style; Akido is a soft style in that regard). If you really want to be a rounded martial artist youneed some Okinawan Karate style, some grappling style (jujitsu), and some joint-lock/throwing style.
I’ve =got all three. Isshinryu Karate (3rd Degree Black Belt), Arnis (2nd Degree Black Belt), and I’ve trained in the jujitsu stuff, but hold no rank in it. I’ve also spent years studying Chinese Medicine and pressure-point techniques. It is fun
re: #15 by HomeGrownVeggies
good for her
re: #17 by Iron Fist
do plays, jitsu doesn’t.
That’s an old saying.
What I liked about aikijujitsu (and the akido variant) is that I can choose between causing pain but no damage (in the case of some idiot drunk who just needs to sleep it off) or doing serious damage to stop an attacker who is truely evil.
Not everyone you fight is evil, some are just stupid. Aiki (do or jujitsu) at least lets you make the choice.
re: #15 by HomeGrownVeggies
FYI, HGV = CC. Enough subterfuge on my old nic.
re: #15 by HomeGrownVeggies
Way to go, shug!!
maybe 0 has his minions out there playing the race card over and over and over and over so that eventually, a bunch of whities have enough and by god become racists because they have been called that over and over again.
do ya think the prez would want that? i do. just so he and his types can point at it and use it to their advantage.

Welcome here!
re: #29 by LanceKates
Thanks! Drank the 2.0 propaganda for a while that 1.0 was serving, but finally remembered that I’m a thinking human and did my own research. Found a new blog home here.
re: #19 by LanceKates
I’m very much a jitsu kind of guy. When I work self-defense I try to set up my response to chain together a series of escalating disasters leading to a fatality. That gives me options, and the time to think them through. It stops only when the enemy has completely submitted and is no longer resisting. A case in point, the last bar fight I was in dude grabbed me by the back of the neck. I turned around with my right hand up as a block (I figured there was a punch comming; he wasn’t grabbing me like that just to say hi). My left hand was down low where I could execute a groin strike. It wasn’t needed. The guy just wilted. He almost burst into tears. Hell, I bought him a beer, told him to calm down. His Old Lady had come into the bar a little while before him, you see, and had hit me up for a drink and conversation. Understandable that he’d be upset, but I’d have still dropped his sorry ass to the floor if he haddn’t give complete submission before I got started.
re: #17 by Iron Fist
I do remember the sword fight in the end; that was good. Thanks for the info on the martial arts; very interesting.
Welcome Cynical Conservative!
shug is a guy. I’m glad he flounced. I always liked shug.
re: #23 by spidly
Just out of curiosity, do you have a favorite action film star?
Touchdown Giants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
re: #32 by CynicalConservative
WANTING to find the truth of the matter will always lead to interesting moments, like realizing how screwed up 1.0 is.
Just last week I asked my old man if it would be a good idea to ask Rupert Murdoch to seed a corporation competing with FOX in an effort to impart some balance and vary the direction of attack.
He didn’t say anything so I’m asking an open question from my brain.
Wouldn’t it benefit him?
re: #15 by HomeGrownVeggies
Great post by shug. Wow. If only someone would listen to this kind of reason over there, too bad such a thing is so clearly beyond hope.
re: #33 by Iron Fist
“I’m very much a jitsu kind of guy.”
Gentile jitsu or jiu jitsu?
re: #33 by Iron Fist
I studied for 2 years, wu wei gung fu, aikijujitsu, some samurai sword work and escrima fighting.
I enjoyed it and it was a good workout (especially when 100 degrees outside and you’re inside an unairconditioned dojo), but I couldn’t afford to keep going, had to stop.
(I tried to post that already but got an error, sorry if it doubleposts)
re: #38 by Rodan
I need Witten to score one more, then your team is allowed to win.

re: #42 by Moe Katz
see, that’s high comedy right there.
So, Lance, were you experiencing low blood pressure and decided a few minutes with Gerald would give you a quick pick-me-up?
I wouldn’t watch that guy for any reason, irrespective of who is guest was.

and so quickly banned.
just proves her point that dissent is not tolerated
Wait, I thought this was the Open thread, not the Hollywood Football thread.
The Karma count means the number of updings compared to any possible downdings.
Shug had more updings than the total number of posts.
What a loss for 1.0 — I hope Shug comes here!
re: #37 by Morgan
I’ll have to say after the Daniel Craig Casino Royale I just want to see somewhat realistic fights where people get effed up and stay that way. It might be a function of watching too much UFC. Either that or over the top obviously cartoonish action and wirefighting.
A favorite I dunno. Just not Stephen Segal.
repost from last thread..
Rodan, Our G-d is not a vengeful G-d against those that follow him. He is a loving and a forgiving G-d. Our G-d also HATES evil. Same as us. Please don’t beat yourself up for thing that are in our human nature to feel. Go to Confession if you feel it necessary, but you, along with a lot of others here (including myself) found our way; away from the site that censored us from our beliefs and our convictions. I am so sad that it took me so long to find my long time friends from 1.0. I did not post much on 1.0 and did have not been banned (yet). There will be few here that know who I am, but I know that I recognize and respect a lot of the posters here. I learned so much from 1.0 and those that posted, still post and have been banned from there. I have missed a lot of you and still miss a lot that will no longer post because of that site (Bubbazee – for example). I used to pray for realwest everytime I logged into lgf, now I pray for him every time I open up this website. You all did right by starting this site.
I am not posting under my lgf blog name and, no, to the best of my knowledge, have not been banned. I do not read the blog anymore, however I do go there once or twice a day to see if realwest has posted to see how he (and his mom) are doing.
Ed Mohammad… etc, etc.etc., You may know who I am. We e-mailed back and forth back in the Katrina/Rita day’s. I am so happy to have found you all again.
BTW – the Manning suck! lol!
It looks like we have our new Plaxico, Mario Maningham!
re: #40 by Bumr50
With FOX, there’s no competition…. no other stations have near that much conservativism.
If he created a ‘liberal’ news station, he’d have to compete with abc, cbs, nbc, msnbc, cnbc, cnn and cspan 1, 2 and 3.
re: #43 by LanceKates
My old man informs me that they do yoga at his gym in 103 degree rooms.
I did some Tai Chi with a Korean War vet gym teacher I had and I still remember some katas he taught me.
I use them to this day.
re: #51 by Lizzie_in_Texas
Thanks for that!
The Giants have no running game. Another Field Goal.
30-24.
re: #53 by LanceKates
You misinterpreted me. I meant create some conservative competition for himself. Gamesmanship.

I prefer a 1911A1. Don’t have to get all sweaty.
re: #50 by spidly
Understood. The action scenes in Casino Royale were well done.
re: #57 by Bumr50
OOoOohhh…. gotcha.
I don’t know. I think it’d split the viewers, and the msm would be pushing it as the liberal rags ‘making a comeback’ and it’d be shown as the ‘death of right wing news’

hands and feet don’t run out of ammo.
Neither does a knife.
They say never bring a knife to a gun fight… and that may be true….
but a knife sure comes in handy in a fist fight.
Don’t fight fair, the person trying to attack you doesn’t.
re: #56 by Rodan
Fortunately for them, Eli Manning has been having better luck with his passing than Tony Romo.
re: #49 by Eliana
That number of posts, by the way, is the equivalent of at least a couple of very full books in length.
The thanklessness and remorselessness over there in the swift banishing of such a thoughtful and humane commenter — who never said anything close to a single nasty or abusive thing that I can recall — is a prime example of the moral bankruptcy that rules that place nowadays.
Such a crying shame, but I hope shug feels a weight lifted.
Damn, Barber is just killing the Giants. Dallas is inside the 10. Damn Dallas just scored. The running game is killing the Giants.

re: #51 by Lizzie_in_Texas
A beautiful letter.
re: #61 by LanceKates
I just don’t see how Fox can ever gain legitimacy without a measuring stick. They’re so far apart that they don’t have anything with which to demonstrate superiority or deficiency.
Or are we just AVOIDING the ugly middle.
Objectivism is as adrift as our foreign policy.
re: #63 by LanceKates
I’m old, slow and blind in one eye. The trigger finger still works, though.
Damn 2 Penalties, The Giants are in a hole.
re: #69 by no2liberals
yup yup. heh. All I know is, we’re not going to get over the “Republicans are Racists!” if we don’t start LOUDLY standing up to scumbags.

Thank you. Just posting from my heart.
Because I’m still obsessing… Peg K just went poof. Gah, gotta get a hobby….

I say turn the tables and call them racist. Use Alinsky’s methods on them. If not racist coin a negative term and it will stick to them.
And thanks for the welcome to the site from everybody. (also here as HomeGrownVeggies)
In answer to my own question at comment #5: On Deadly Ground. The climactic scene at the oil refinery is amazing, in my opinion.
re: #71 by Bumr50
The truth is, Fox isn’t “right wing” . . . it really isn’t.
They’re balanced… they have both liberals and conservatives.
The REST of the news is so radically liberal that they just seem that conservative.
What’s the big deal about the Wild Cat formation? I hear about it alot this year.
re: #77 by Rodan
It is reported as ‘those conservatives just being hateful again.’
Apparently even by Fox when Geraldo is on.
re: #74 by LanceKates
But we will always be WAYTHISTS to the left.
We need to mock them, to prove how absurd they are.
I just think that it would behoove Rupert Murdoch if he indeed espouses conservative values to oh I don’t know build a Libertarian style entity in whatever form to give the so-called extreme right-wing an organized guidepost from which to express their displeasure and anger at the current state of things. It would counter O’Reilly et al.
re: #83 by no2liberals
We need to adopt Conan The Barbarian’s method of dealing with such folks.
… heh.
re: #84 by Bumr50
I think first of all, the ventures Murdoch is involved in are for profit, and not necessarily because of his personal choices.
If there were profits to be made in creating a competing news source against FOX he would do it.
The fact that FOX is blowing all other cable news and network news out of the water is proof he has a winning formula.
OUTRAGE OF THE DAY! as some strung out code monkeys might put it

I’m sorry if I sound like I’m rambling I’m just working through some stuff.
re: #83 by no2liberals
For the millionth time we need to coin: RACIALISTS and get it into vocabulary as one who represents those who would take advantage of one’s race in an effort to get ahead as if it were an all encompassing qualification.

Or Bluto Blutarski:
Let’s go! Come on!
re: #86 by no2liberals
Do you at least understand my postulation?
re: #90 by Bumr50
One problem with that is the term ‘racialist’ is already used by the more scientifically oriented people that challenge politically correct shibboleths on the subject of race—to distinguish themselves from simple racists, who overgeneralize and are unscientific.
re: #91 by no2liberals

Love the 1 against 12 ass-kicking scenes.
Lately I find the Borne series of movies to be excellent.
re: #89 by Morgan
He earned his pay! Tomorrow, his big brother plays on Monday Night Football.
re: #96 by Bumr50
it is also an irrational concept.
Ignore fact A because X is part of Y, but when X is not a part of Y, make a point out of fact A.
mathematically,
If x=y, then A=0
if x(does not)=y, then A=infinity
so, A=0 AND infinity, dependent upon x = y.
re: #90 by Bumr50
Racialism/racialists has an established definition.
I agree a new term is a good idea, race baiter or hustler just doesn’t seem to do the trick.

The classics never go out of style.
He’s always defending Zero and has admitted he voted for him many times. With all is journalism experience, he should recognize a Marxist/Socialist when he sees one. I don’t get him. The only thing he’s good at is talking endlessly when he’s sent to a news scene. Give the guy a mike and he won’t shut up until THEY cut to commercial. He’s a bit dramatic too.
re: #99 by bar
That’s always been the cool thing about Steven Seagal movies: seeing him take on large numbers of people at a time and putting them down one by one. Above The Law features plenty of it.
re: #102 by no2liberals
So I see.
I’ll stop attempting to hijack language from now on.

I tried, several times, to count how many Bruce Lee took on in Return of the Dragon, when he goes into the dungeon of the eeeevil man who organized the karate competition.
I kept losing count at 64, as they kept coming so fast.
Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris could go through a cast of Filipino extras faster than Michael Moore can go through a buffet.

re: #125 by LanceKates
I like Jackie.
He has made some very entertaining movies.
IFC has carried the classic Samurai movies, for years, like this series.
As well as many of the very best Samurai movies ever made. The actor in the above link, Shintaro Katsu, had a very successful series Zatoichi, The Blind Swordsman.
I love the old samurai movies better than the Kung Fu movies. When they deliver a kill shot, the victim stays dead, and the morality tales are so much more compelling.

Exactly, the worst I saw in the video paraded by Charlie was very mild compared to how one of Arlen Specter’s constituents was being manhandled during one of his town hall meetings.

Oh and just in case you think I made the previous post up here is a Transcript of the OBAMINATIOn LYING as usual to ABC. Comments in the brackets are mine.
“ABC Presenter:- It was one of the most popular topics among the questions you submitted to me for my interview with President Obama – the controversy involving ACORN.
While the President said that ACORN “deserves to be investigated” in light of the “inappropriate” video that’s gone viral, he did not endorse recent votes in Congress to cut off federal funding for the community group.
Here’s our FULL exchange:
STEPHANOPOULOS: How about the funding for ACORN?
OBAMA: You know, if — frankly, it’s not really something I’ve followed closely (LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE). I didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money.(TOTAL UNADULTERATED BLANTANT LYING)
STEPHANOPOULOS: Both the Senate and the House have voted to cut it off.
OBAMA: You know, what I know is, is that what I saw on that video was certainly inappropriate and deserves to be investigated.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So you’re not committing to — to cut off the federal funding?
OBAMA: George, this is not the biggest issue facing the country. It’s not something I’m paying a lot of attention to.”

re: #182 by IslandLibertarian
That’s cool.
I have never been a local.
I was in Maui back in May, couldn’t believe the beautiful waves in north east Maui.
On the one hand, I think it’s good that conservatives of every type are waking up to the travesty that is now LGF.
However, as a Christian, I find certain blog pages about this distasteful, and I mean specifically the ones by condescending Non Christians, or by Non Christians who are hostile towards Christianity, almost as much as Johnson is.
More and more often, I see conservative atheists, agnostics, and other non Christians say they do not like Johnson’s tilt toward the left, but they are totally cool with Johnson’s anti-Creationism / I.D. positions.
It’s not so much I have a problem with these people supporting Johnson on evolution, as I am with the attitudes of some of the ones expressing this view.
(The polite, respectful Non Christians do not bother me, I am talking about the ones who hate Christianity or who are arrogant towards people of faith, who mock and ridicule Christians and their beliefs.)
Here’s one example (not a perfect example, as this guy is not nearly as arrogant or hateful towards Christians as I’ve seen from others over the years; he’s pretty mild):
New Clarion
Maybe I am wrong, but I’ve seen this kind of remark so often, I think I’m probably not wrong on this one.
I take it that the author would place “normal” Christians under the heading of “nutty.”
I wish he would have defined who he thinks of as a “nutty” Christian.
My hunch is that like many very angry atheists/agnostics, anyone who believes in Jesus and the Bible and who takes that stuff seriously is a “nut.”
Other than that, I do appreciate that guy’s position, in that he’s speaking out against the horrible things that have been going on at LGF.
As far as his apparent disdain for Christians goes, he’s not the only one. Over the last week, I’ve seen similar posts by other agnostics/ atheists who are speaking out against Johnson.
On that “Clarion” blog, I left a couple of comments on that page.
One guy, “Jim May,” retorted with a post to mine where he sort of missed the point in what I was saying.
At the same time, he actually proved my point above: most Christians believe in a literal understanding of Genesis, that is, we believe that Satan appeared as a ‘talking snake’ to deceive Eve.*
This “Jim May” who replied to my post said that kind of belief was “crazy.”
——————
*Even most Christians who may take that content in an allegorical (symbolic) sense would be respectful enough of their brothers and sisters in Christ to refrain from referring to the literalists as “nutty.”
I’ve just watched this live performance of Dick Dale doing Miserlou for about the 1000th.

re: #169 by spidly
It looks like the conservative rabbis have their heads screwed on right, but the author of the article? Not so much:
What troubles me most about this suggestion is how profoundly it flies in the face of the very meaning of the festival itself.
Follwed by a few lines of what the real meaning of the festival is, and then:
Beyond the political arguments over such a statement, it strikes me as something approaching idolatry.
In other words, he was expressing a negative sentiment with regard to the conservative rabbinical request, though politely.
The comments also express, for the most part, a negative reaction. It looks like the liberal Jews are still asleep. I can’t believe they discount a nuclear Iran and worry instead about last year’s invasion of Gaza.
re: #190 by Lily
There is a name for that idea, and many antitheists discount the notion because to them its just hocus pocus.
Many of them are set in their ways. Not because they want to believe there is no GOD, but rather because the existence of GOD means their life is imoral and evil and they do not want to surrender their positions.
Denial of GOD is just an excuseso they can be as immoral as they can be.
Some times I point out to them, especially in hte face of some horrific evil, that by their standard it should not matter, that if there is no GOD then it is purely survival of hte fittest and only the strongest’s opinions matter. I then continue by pointing out htat their inbred revultion is a part of what GOD built into hteir hearts, and that he is alive, he does care, and he will judge.
Most are hard sells because htey loe what ever crutch they cling to.

It’s called “Pacal’s wager” after Blaise Pascal who is credited with formulating it. This was during the so-called Enlightenment when people like Voltaire were expressing radically athiest views and denigrating people of faith. While Pascal’s wager would reveal an extremely weak faith, it still does address the conundrum — namely that those of faith are in a more favorable position than those rejecting faith.
re: #199 by AZfederalist
Rats, that should be “Pascal’s Wager”
re: #187 by CloudyDay
The Orthodox Jewish position (going back about 850 years from the rabbi / philosopher / sage called Maimonides) is that it is impossible for science to contradict the Bible.
Thus, Orthodox Jews (most, anyway) see the six days of creation as days that took place over the course of about 13 billion years. Orthodox Jewish physicists have used physics to explain how this worked (and it isn’t simply a matter of dividing up the total billions of years into six parts). It’s complicated and they’ve written books to explain how science and the Bible don’t contradict each other.
When you mentioned that most Christians believe that Satan appeared as a ‘talking snake’ to deceive Eve — Orthodox Jews believe this too.
The belief is that snakes started out as creatures who had feet and legs (and who could speak.)
Well — there’s a story in the news right now about a snake found in China recently. It was born with a foot.
Check this out:

I failed to see how a picture of Obama’s face photoshoped onto the body of a Borneo witchdoctor was the Worst Racism In The World™. Charles got it into his head that this was a reference to Obama being African (something that happens to be true), and therefore racist. My position was that the image in question was using a real witchdoctor from the south sea islands to call Obama a witchdoctor for his attempts to socialize the American Health industry. Charles was just getting to the “everyone who disagrees with me is a white supremacist” level of his psychosis, and I faild to follow his lead against a legitimate piece of political commentary.
Of course, that was just the begining of it. Now the Left says anyone that disagrees with the President on anything is only doing so because he is black, and therefore are racists. That is laughable. I opposed HillaryCare when Clinton was President. I guess that was racism, too.
The truth is that there have been so many cries of “racism” that are bogus that I simply consider the source and, unless the motherfucker in question has a swastika tattooed on his forehead or such, let it slide. When everyone is racist, no one is racist, if you know what I mean. They’ve decimated their credibility on such issues.

The uber-liberal weirdo Janeane Garofalo claimed in a street interview that an entire tea party awhile back was racist because she saw a sign that said, “Whatchoo talkin’ about, Willis?”
I’m not sure what the sign meant (since she didn’t explain the entire sign that might have given it some context) — but her idea was that mentioning this hugely, hugely, hugely popular TV show is racist??? Why? Simply because the most popular person on this mega-popular TV sitcom was black and so is Obama? How could this be racist?
Garofalo characterized the entire modern tea party movement as racist for this one sign.
They’re looking for ANY possible way that they can claim racism.
People in this country are worried about the health and lives of 300 million Americans and the future of our country under incessant liberal trillion dollar spending sprees — and liberals can only see this as racist.
Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Oh yeah, I saw that headline (about the snake with the foot) a few days ago. I’ll have to check out the link you gave and read up on it.
I personally understand the creation days in Genesis to be 24 hour periods each, but I’m not going to be rude or nasty to someone who disagrees and thinks each day was equivalent to millions of years.
That was at the heart of what I was trying to get at in my previous post.
I can accept (or I try to accept) someone having a different view than I do on a topic (I don’t always find it easy, but I do try).
What yanks my chain and annoys me to no end are people who will treat you as though you’re a moron, idiot, fool, or uneducated yokel for having an opposing view on whatever the subject is.
One doesn’t have to treat another person like a piece of trash, or mock that person’s religious beliefs, just because their opinion is different.

re: #213 by CloudyDay
Agree 100%!
What gets me when I see anti-Creationism people on blogs is that they seem to think that it’s downright dangerous to believe in Creationism and ID. They hunt down politicians who believe in Creationism or ID and try to expose them as if it’s shocking and unacceptable.
It makes me sick when I see this.
By the way, when it comes to believing in the days of creation being 24 hours, it does actually add up (six days = roughly 13 billion years) if G-d moved at the speed of light for six days. Orthodox Jews added it up.
Who’s to say that G-d didn’t move at the speed of light for six days? He invented time and He exists outside of time, so it makes all the sense in the world that He could do this.

For example on the blessing I have a cousin who was deep into drugs and not a good mother. She was diagnoised with cancer. She said it was the best thing that had happened because she turned her life around. Started behaving like a mother and a good person all around. She said it enlightened her. She is in remission now and credits God for it.

However long it took to create the Universe, it’s something we won’t fully understand while we’re living in the physical world.
People have spent thousands of years trying to figure it all out, but we’re never going to get to the point of understanding how the Infinite Being Who exists outside of time built the universe with all its energy, matter, space and time.
At least not while we’re still in the physical world.

There was a Pope walking along the beach trying to understand the mystery’s of the Trinity of God. He spotted a small girl with a spoon. She was dipping the spoon in the ocean and emptying the ocean water on the sand. He asked her what she was doing.
She said she was emptying the ocean of the water.
The Pope said that was impossible. She then said that is exactly the same thing as trying to understand the mystery of the Trinity of God…impossible.
The Pope recieved his answer and the girl was no longer there.
re: #247 by justin case
Indeed Justin…indeed.
re: #250 by mjazz
Why would this be necessary when G-d exists outside of time so He knew everything that was going to happen before it actually happened?
if you were out walking and came across a wing from an aircraft, you could look at that wing and say with absolute certainty that it had been designed by a person with knowledge of aeronautical engineering and the properties of air ect.
so when we find a seed of a sycamore tree that is also a perfect wing with exact size in relation to the weight of the seed and the density of the air that will assist its travel.
why is it suddenly not a design but a random example of evolution.
re: #253 by Eliana I see what you mean. I believe He’s already in the future, then, also.

I remember Charles posting that she was sent to the cornfield for posting here, yet everyone says
she has not. Could CJ be lying?
re: #273 by Fiat_Lux
Yes.
re: #274 by no2liberals
That was a rhetorical question, of course. He lies about everyone who is “disloyal”
justin case I bet you dont have PROOF of your claim dated back MILLIONS and MILLIONS of years. No good just spouting ‘ntelligent Design’ PROPAGANDA you have to prove it.
re: #276 by Pragmatist
You know, it’s entirely possible to win an argument and still be a complete arse.
re: #276 by Pragmatist
no old chap its you that have to prove to me that everything on this earth came from a puddle of crap.
you know where i am coming from, i totally reject the theory of evolution.
apart from micro evolution.
re: #278 by justin case
Hey everyone, good to see y’all. I don’t want to be a bother to anyone, but I have a question. Why is it that people can not resolve the two. Meaning God and evolution. I am a Christian and proud of it. I believe that God created the heavens and the earth, but I also understand that there is science to back up evolution. I do not see the two as seperate and negating each other. I look at God as a type of clock maker. Atleast in the very beginning. He set up the necessary parts, and then kicked things into motion. I mean, even for God that must of been one hell of a show watching the universe in it’s infancy.
re: #279 by linoleumknife
I don’t think we will ever know how it all happened. But I can tell you this: There are those who adhere to something so strongly, that anything else is lunacy. Black is black, white is white.
I often pondered on those threads (I would never post on them, instant ban), you know, there are a lot more important things going on than this.
Oh noes! someone mentioned the word creationism, the world will end as we know it!
Just shakes my head. Here we have our economy in shambles, getting worse, and there are those still like avanti, who “hopes” it gets better.
That’s like watching a serial killer, and “hoping” he just stops soon.
re: #280 by HadEnough
LOL, very true. It’s funny that the same people who mock others for having a blind faith in God, would have blind faith in a mere mortal.
Good morning, guys! What’s new?
re: #279 by linoleumknife
i think a lot of people are cool with believing the two can be together.
for my part i see the theory of evolution being used as a weapon to kill the belief in god.
that is the main reason i reject it,
and i think its a load of crap as well.
Dr. Kent Hovind is my man,
dawkins is the evolutionists man.
Good morning, y’all!

re: #284 by goddessoftheclassroom

re: #283 by justin case
Well from what I have read, Darwin never meant it to be an assualt on God. There is no doubt though that it is being used as such.
Hi, Goddess!
{HadEnough}
{linoleumknife}
The thing I could never understand at LGF was the contention that a belief in creation doomed the study of science. I mean, once things get going it doesn’t matter (to a scientist) how they started.
re: #288 by goddessoftheclassroom
How is school going for you this year so far?
And I know what you mean.
re: #286 by linoleumknife
agreed darwin had his doubts.
How ironic that Charles Darwin, after a lifetime of turning the scientific world on its head, began in later years to question his own conclusions.
“Often a cold shudder has run through me,” Darwin wrote in a letter to his friend and colleague Charles Lyell, “and I have asked myself whether I may have not devoted myself to a phantasy.”
I never posted on a Creationism thread. It is a debate with no end. Faith versus science. Passions run very high and no one is persuaded, often resulting in bitterness and resentment. It is a lose/lose argument for a blog or a forum, IMO.
re: #289 by HadEnough
It’s a great year. I have terrific students. VERY busy, of course, but in a good way!
re: #291 by Number6
but at least here we can have a debate and get as passionate as we like without getting the ban stick and some snide comment to go with it.

re: #290 by justin case
Well as it stands, I’m not devoted to the idea that we evolved directly from apes. I think there could be a strong possibility that God created them as a test run. Life has been on this planet for far longer than we have. We are his most magnificent creation, and complex is probably to mild of an adjective to describe the human race. With that, we need a very particular set of circumstances to live and thrive. I see the time leading up to us as a way to set up the environment that was required.
I’m so happy a morning bunch is evolving…*hee! hee!)
Have a great day, y’all!

re: #301 by Bumr50
Lol, no worries bud.
I’m sure I have said this atleast once, but seeing as this was the end of my first week here, I love this site. This is the first time I have been comfortable enough to express my views on evolution. At 1.0 the atmosphere was so hostile on those threads that I never felt up to posting in them. Even on the more casual threads it felt elitist. I feel at home.
does anybody here remember the dead thread on lgf a few years back when migel in mexico used to get flamed by a drunk girl, she really hated him.
i cant think what her nic was.
If life evolved from simple (ha!) 1 celled microbes to the species we have today, simplest exorcises of all to prove your point, list a 2 celled organism, 3? 4? 5? 6? 7?
Of course when I say simplest I mean you have to devote you life to it and die a failure.

Good moderation should take care of that. So many people here now just came from an oppressive environment that they are likely to be on guard against this place going that same way. At least I hope so.

how the hell does having thousands of posts make your opinion more valid than someone with just a few.
re: #291 by Number6
EXACTLY, which is why you will never see me discussing a faith versus science or faith versus faith topic. minds are never changed because it is impossible to argue faith, by definition, faith is not debatable. (it is a relief to have a place to do such things, no?)

re: #338 by apachegunner
Hey gunner! nice to see you here!
re: #337 by African Moondog
I can’t help but think that those threads are created for the express purpose of “smoking out dissenters”. They are purposefully controversial, then when controvery erupts, the hammer comes out.
It’s like a weird cult.
“scanning 1.0 it appears they are now backing the public option. is it me?”
Some of them have been backing the public option for weeks now. It has turned into pretty much of a lefty blog.
refresh for new comments
re: #342 by apachegunner
press F5
At first I thought the idea of creating threads to smoke out the conservatives was raging paranoia. Now, I’m not so sure.
The bottom line, though, is that so many conservatives have been banned or walked away, that the balance there has shifted way to the left and will likely stay that way.
re: #345 by Number6

Yo number 6, w2hat up?
re: #353 by Number6
yes, i watched her rise in popularity from day one. her karma numbers were in the thousands quickly and her support was amazing. she and i went at it several times but at least she was always polite.
If you look at the overnight thread at the Johnsontown cult Sharmuta is there at the beginning & she is still there.
That kind of tells me that she is monitoring for flouncers& deviations from the Party line, with her finger on the report button.
She may soon open a veon for Charlie.

WHat would attract them to LGF? Hmmmm

re: #231 by mjazz
Earthly suffering does not disprove GOD, but rather proves he is long suffering regading us, it proves the depth of his love.
GOD gave us three gifts, the first and the least is the gift of life. Least? Yes indeed, for without the other two, it is condemnation to either puppetry, or eternal torment. The second gift is eternal life through Jesus. This is the greatest gift of all, bt one we must choose to open. The third gift is self determination, free choice. We each decide what we will do, how we will act. If a particularly evil person were to be struck down by GOD in a most spectacular way, That would deny freedom of choice.
The person struck down would be denied the option of repentance, but more importantly, those who saw it would be denied freedom of choice. They would bow before GOD out of fear of his wrath. (sorry RoG) GOD wants us to worship him out of faith and love.
He gives guidance to those who love him, some times a gentle nudge, some times a swift kick in the shorts, but they are ones who are justified by his grace, and it is never done in a way that reveals his nature to unbelievers.
All the suffering in the world is caused by men. for by man, sin entered the world, and death by sin.
I do not believe tha GOD rejoices when any evil person dies. rather he mourns, for he wishs for all men to turn to him and be saved.
That is why I believe he intended capital punishment to be a horrible way to die, not the slipping off to sleep that lethal injection has made it.

re: #407 by Jerry
Good post, I might add that the God of love does not force Himself on anyone, (if He did that wouldn’t love at all) but the Lord has given us a free will to accept Him and worship Him by faith.
Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and not of yourselves; it is a gift of God”
Faith is to the spirit what hands are to the body, God offers us a free gift of salvation and we receive it through faith.
Faith is the vehicle in which we receive God’s grace.

Is our Lord and Master Obama up to any new tricks this morning?

Interesting summary of President Wee Weeds wall to wall media coverage thus far.

He bragged abotu it once, after an early bannee snuck back in, he swung the stick and later said they had registered two sock puppets with diffrent e-mail addresses, but used the same password.
I some times wonder what he would stop at in his attacks on people.

“During his first eight months in office, President Obama has sat down for three times as many television interviews as his most recent two predecessors combined.”
I know Obama and the media are in denial about this, but constant wall-to-wall coverage is not a good thing. It can be overdone.
His career is beginning to remind me of Britney Spears (or any other manufactured “star”).
Now I’m just waiting for his big “flame out” moment. Just hope it’s not too embarassing for the country when he has his inevitable meltdown.
re: #441 by Lincolntf
Too late.
The embarassment part that is. He just hasn’t received the message yet, since no one is allowed to convey it.
re: #440 by Number6
Good morning to you 6! Yup, did you also catch the blatant lies re: his knowledge of ACORN? Funny how our “most brilliant and technically savvy” leader convieniently forgets that we have him on tape praising ACORN and promising to work with them on their mutual agendas.

Fly in Air Force One.
Give speech.
Fly in Air Force One.
Go on TV shows.
Fly in Air Force One.
Play golf.
Over 200 days in office and I’ll bet they still haven’t had to change the sheets in the master bedroom in the residence.

Easy to do, but inaccurate
