My stimulus check has still not arrived in the mail. Does anyone know who to call when they get lost? I have a clunky garbage disposal that needs greened up. Maybe if I wait, they will fund a program for that too.

Oh wait, it isn’t for common folks. Us common folks are the ones that foot the bill so the rich liberals get richer.

    Early version of Fauxtography uncovered?

After nearly three-quarters of a century Robert Capa’s “Falling Soldier” picture from the Spanish Civil War remains one of the most famous images of combat ever. It is also one of the most debated, with a long string of critics claiming that the photo, of a soldier seemingly at the moment of death, was faked. Now, a new book by a Spanish researcher asserts that the picture could not have been made where, when or how Capa’s admirers and heirs have claimed.

As long as it is a linky thread:

AIDS group in CA wants OSHA to mandate condoms in the porn industry.

No, really, that’s what they’re complaining about. Double Digit unemployment and a woefully overspent government, but they still have time to whine and seethe about condoms in porn.

Found some actual good news coming out of the Obama administration, at least as far as energy security goes: US Allows Alberta Clipper Pipeline.

This 1590 km-long pipeline will connect Hardisty AB with Superior WI and is supposed to come on line by next year. The pipeline will eventually provide 800,000 barrels of oil a day of non-OPEC crude to the American market. Considering that Obama approved it in the face of hysterical opposition from environmentalists, this is a rare instance of common sense prevailing in 2009 Washington.

Las Vegas jobless rate hits all-time high of 13.1 percent

Nevada’s unemployment rose to 12.5 percent in July, while joblessness in especially hard-hit Las Vegas surged to 13.1 percent. It’s the highest jobless rate both statewide and locally since the state began tracking data in 1976.

Can someone tell me why the feds need to be involved in this? Don’t most states already have a system for people living in the poverty zone?

    Arizona does. Massachusetts does.

    Others?

Why is it so imperative to send buckets of money to the feds to be sent back to the states?

Because now it’s in God’s plan. And by the way, Happy Ramadan.

“I have made it a practice not to comment on the actions of other prosecutors,” Mueller wrote. “Your decision to release Megrahi causes me to abandon that practice in this case. I do so because I am familiar with the facts, and the law. … And I do so because I am outraged at your decision, blithely defended on the grounds of ‘compassion.’”
