Obama to give Petrobas money to Drill offshore in Brazil

Brazilian State run company Petrobas has be given a preliminary commitment letter from The Transnationalist Totalitarian Progressive regime of Barack Hussein Obama, for a $2 Billion loan. They are being giving this to drill offshore Brazil, not here in America. What makes it worse is that Petrobas is owned by the Brazilian Government.

The U.S. is going to lend billions of dollars to Brazil’s state-owned oil company, Petrobras, to finance exploration of the huge offshore discovery in Brazil’s Tupi oil field in the Santos Basin near Rio de Janeiro. Brazil’s planning minister confirmed that White House National Security Adviser James Jones met this month with Brazilian officials to talk about the loan.

The U.S. Export-Import Bank tells us it has issued a “preliminary commitment” letter to Petrobras in the amount of $2 billion and has discussed with Brazil the possibility of increasing that amount. Ex-Im Bank says it has not decided whether the money will come in the form of a direct loan or loan guarantees. Either way, this corporate foreign aid may strike some readers as odd, given that the U.S. Treasury seems desperate for cash and Petrobras is one of the largest corporations in the Americas.

But look on the bright side. If President Obama has embraced offshore drilling in Brazil, why not in the old U.S.A.? The land of the sorta free and the home of the heavily indebted has enormous offshore oil deposits, and last year ahead of the November elections, with gasoline at $4 a gallon, Congress let a ban on offshore drilling expire.

What makes it even more wrong is that Neo-Stalinist, George Soros owns stakes in Petrobras.  Sosros is one of the leaders of the Transnational Progressive Movement and has spent Millions to have Progressives elected. This another example of the Progressive Wall Street Mafia making money off the government.

This is all an example of Transnational Globalism, your tax money will go to Foreign entities. Meanwhile, Obama prevent drilling offshore here in the Unites States. The irony is the 2 billion were are “lending” this company is actually being borrowed from China. We are running  a deficit and this money could be better spent at home. We also should be drilling here and not in Brazil.

Update: The US Export-Import Bank is not funded by taxpayers. However, if the loans are not paid back,  the taxpayers are on the hook for it.

OK, what reason on earth did Obama give to justify giving free money to a foreign country for them to develop oil drilling systems that they already have, so that the foreign country can profit from it?

I would never want to be said to defend Obama, but nobody actually is giving tax payer money to the Petrobas. the us export-import bank is giving loan guarentees to american buiseness to bid on jobs for the Brazilian Oil company. It still stinks since some members of the US inport export bank are appointed by Obama. Some one with a better grip on all this can explain it better than me

So true. And it is hypocritical.

What always has amused and slightly enraged me is the notion that America should lower hazardous emissions on already regulated leftist described detrimental environmental industries as though we are in a bubble and the atmosphere or borders of our country are in a bubble. If we regulate pollutants that doesn’t stop other who pollute from us stopping what they emit and eliminate at some waystation the vapors or particlesfrom invading our air or land.

The rest of the non western world does not share our concern for working cleanly when it comes to industry, and pollutes wantonly. However, because we have political constructs that regulate our inudstries, the ecocons of America think that we are cleaner when in truth all Earth dwellers share the same land and air.

There is no political fence that can protect everyone.

I don’t know, man. Cash or loan guarantees, I’m more worried about our dependence on oil than Brazil’s. It doesn’t seem right helping them get to the resources they’ll charge us out the ass for.

I hadn’t read that the guarantees are for American companies to bid, just Petrobras. That’s definitely under-reported. But hey, if it’s ultimately ending up helping American companies at least there is a bright side.

    Yeah… no, that still sucks.

Just about any oil drilling, anywhere in the world, helps some American companies, as we pretty much have the lock on oilfield exploration and exploitation technologies.

American companies made money off the North Sea oil in Scotland/Norway, American companies make money off the Saudi Oil Ticks (it may be under their sand, but they need our tech to bring it up and bring it to market), the Nigerians, etc.

The “Awl Bidness” as they say in Texas isn’t just the Chevron’s, BP’s, Shell’s and so forth that refine the stuff, or the nationalized companies like Pemex in Mexico, SaudiAramco and Petrobras that control the leases, there are all the companies that make rig equipment, drill bits, seismic gear for exploration (and all the computer software that goes along with it) etc. And most of them are American.

“Aye, it’s some business isn’t it?” “Some business? It’s the ONLY business. Can you imagine a world without oil?”

The fact that the word “Obama” is in the same sentence as “investment”, “enterprise” or “business” is enough for me to know that something is totally wrong. When I find out that there is also a connection with a state-run company in another country, any shred of doubt about things being wrong is gone. This is NOT free market. This is not how international business is done. This is yet another socialistic scam.

Well, on the upside, more oil from offshore Brazil means less dependence on the Persian Gulf. But if the US Export-Import Bank really wants to invest in America’s future energy security, then they should put all their money here.

Alberta’s oilsands contain 1.7 TRILLION recoverable barrels of oil, more than all the world’s conventional reserves put together. Today they produce about 700,000 barrels a day, but this will rise to 5,000,000 barrels a day in the near future.

The only problem is that US environmentalists have blacklisted the oilsands as producing “dirty” oil. The oil is extracted by mining and processing the sands, not drilling, and it’s an energy intensive and polluting process. Some Democratic lawmakers want to ban this oil from the US market, seemingly preferring the “clean” oil from the Persian Gulf, Venezuela and other hostile regimes. So all this oil may end up piped to the west coast and shipped to Asia instead.

People, this is a good thing. Our government is loaning Petrobras the capital they need to purchase services that more than likely will come to American companies, as I have mentioned above we are number one with a bullet in all oil exploration and resourcing technology and ESPECIALLY when it comes to deep water offshore, which is where these Brazilian fields are. There are dozens of companies in Texas and Louisiana who deal in this extremely expensive and specialized hardware and software, some of whom are worth oodles of money whose names are completely unfamiliar to those outside the industry. Halliburton is probably the only one that is a household name. And they employ hundreds of thousands of people, from roughnecks on the derricks to ship captains, machinists, helicopter pilots, software engineers, maritime architects, divers, shipyard workers etc. etc. etc. It will bring more oil to market, and lessen our reliance on the Ticks and Lil’ Squinty in Tehran.

It’s not like American oil business is not already involved with nationalized oil companies in other countries. They have been for decades.

Do you think that George W. Bush wouldn’t have signed off on this if he was still President? Dick Cheney? The only thing I find negative about all this is that the lefties would be screaming bloody murder if Bush was doing it, and we are getting our panties all in a wad over it because of Obama and Soros. You think Soros doesn’t have his greasy little palms in other oil deals around the world?

Would I like to see oil drilled here in America? Sure! But if oil is as finite a quantity as the “Peakers” say it is, I’d rather we were the last people to be still sitting on top of big supply of it, and have the rest of the world coming to us.

    re: #66 by The Osprey

I see that, American companies will get a very much needed boost.

I also see another side to it. I’m a full fledged right winger. ;)

The timing. Soros selling off common stock and buying preferred stock in the days before, Obama campaigning on guaranteeing companies for nuclear energy, and then turning them down 3 weeks ago. It just stinks.

The DoE says that the USEC project has not reached the readiness stage required for funding. However, the same is true of the project that Obama’s funding in Brazil. In fact, investors (other than Soros) wonder whether the state-owned and state-run Petrobras is really up to the task of properly exploiting the find, despite the leftist government’s campaign of supporting Petrobras control of it. The extraction of the coastal find is still in the planning stages, whereas the USEC facility is much closer to production. Yet the US has no use for American energy even as it subsidizes Brazil’s government-owned oil production.

What’s the difference that pushed Obama towards Petrobras and away from USEC? Because from here, it just looks like George Soros.

    I agree with that, too.

And he is reaching for other pulpits .

President Obama accused those actively opposed to his drive for healthcare reform of “bearing false witness” Wednesday during a teleconference organized by members of the “Religious Left.”

In a ten-minute pitch to an estimated 140,000 people from various faith communities, Obama spoke out against what he branded “fabrications” whipped up by opponents of his policy, including claims that it would expand abortions, give health care to illegal immigrants and ration end-of-life care.

“This notion that somehow we are setting up death panels that would decide on whether elderly people get to live or die … that is just an extraordinary lie,” Obama said.

“You’ve heard that this is all going to mean government funding of abortions. Not true,” he added.

“These are all fabrications that have been put out there in order to discourage people from meeting what I consider to be a core ethical and moral obligation – that is that we look out for one another, that I am my brother’s keeper and I am my sister’s keeper,” insisted the president.

He has the audacity of claiming that we, who oppose him, bear false witness? He is a consummate charlatan with way too much power.

    He is a liar.

    • Page 50: All non-US citizens, illegal or not, will be provided with free healthcare services.

    • Page 425: Government provides approved list of end-of-life resources, guiding you in death.

And he has the gumption to claim he is his brothers keeper while he ignores the concerns of an every growing brotherhood that denounces and rejects his social contract with those who are not even in the family. I rarely do this but *spit*!

Reaching out to the Jewish community with Obamacare:

In a morning conference call with about 1000 rabbis from across the nation, Obama asked for aid: “I am going to need your help in accomplishing necessary reform,” the President told the group, according to Rabbi Jack Moline, who tweeted his way through the phoner.

“We are God’s partners in matters of life and death,” Obama went on to say, according to Moline’s real-time stream.

Eyebrows were also raised by the choice of hold music that played to rabbis before the call began.

“First mistake,” Moline tweeted, as he waited for the call to begin. “Music on hold is ‘Deutschland uber Alles,’ ” a classical German anthem, the lyrics to which in part say, “Preserve and protect our Kaiser, our land.”

(The music was chosen by the company carrying the conference call, not the White House or the RAC.)

I think it was a sign from someone else, lol.

Back in the early 90’s I was a Music Director at a medium sized church in the LA suburbs. Anyway I had a young guitarist that played for the services that happened to be the defensive captain of a local High School. Garey High. Good guitarist and better defense man. We went to most of his games. There is nothing like high school football and IMO better than pro for cheer excitement and comradery.

High school ball is the best, with college a close second.
Only 1% of the kids in each of those groups will play at the next level, which means 99% of them are playing for the right reasons, and most are over achievers.
The spirit and enthusiasm is a plus.

After lunch I had just settled in to check out the action when her friend announced that we were going BACK to church for the conclusion.

I guess they do that EVERY Sunday.

Here in Pittsburgh, Sundays are for Church and Football, usually in that order.
