For all the cries of racism that we hear in today’s MSM, I think that it’s probably the case here.

I could be way off base, but I’d be willing to bet that there are a lot of older democrats that couldn’t stomach voting for either a Republican or a black man.

Whoopi Goldberg Questions Truth of Moon Landing

Whoopi Goldberg is such a tool sometimes. This one’s for Whoopi:

    Video: Whitey on the moon

A rat done bit my sister Nell.
    (with Whitey on the moon)
Her face and arms began to swell.
    (and Whitey’s on the moon)
I can’t pay no doctor bill.
    (but Whitey’s on the moon)
Ten years from now I’ll be payin’ still.
    (while Whitey’s on the moon)
The man jus’ upped my rent las’ night.
    (’cause Whitey’s on the moon)
No hot water, no toilets, no lights.
    (but Whitey’s on the moon)
I wonder why he’s uppi’ me?
    (’cause Whitey’s on the moon?)
I wuz already payin’ ‘im fifty a week.
    (with Whitey on the moon)
Taxes takin’ my whole damn check,
Junkies makin’ me a nervous wreck,
The price of food is goin’ up,
An’ as if all that shit wuzn’t enough:
A rat done bit my sister Nell.
    (with Whitey on the moon)
Her face an’ arm began to swell.
    (but Whitey’s on the moon)
Was all that money I made las’ year
    (for Whitey on the moon?)
How come there ain’t no money here?
    (Hmm! Whitey’s on the moon)
Y’know I jus’ ’bout had my fill
    (of Whitey on the moon)
I think I’ll sen’ these doctor bills,
    Airmail special
    (to Whitey on the moon)

Of course, according to this anti-space exploration article:

To reach the goal of returning to the moon and establishing a lunar outpost, NASA has spent almost $6.9 billion and the agency continues to spend $300 million per month on the program.

On the other hand, this article sates that,

According to The Budget for Fiscal Year 2008, Historical Tables, total outlays for Means Tested Entitlements in 2006 were $354.3 billion. This was 2.7% of GDP.

The spending for our possible return to the moon is only a fraction of what is spent on government entitlements. I can’t find the reference now but I remember reading that the total cost of the Apollo program was about $135 billion in 2005 dollars. So, if I have my figures correct, the cost of the entire Apollo program was less than one-half what we spend every year on entitlements.

According to this article, adjusting for inflation, we can go back to the moon for half the cost of the original Apollo missions. We have better and cheaper technology now.

Even with trillions of taxpayer dollars spent on LBJ’s “Great Society,” many times more than what was spent on the space program, the situation hasan’t changed a bit for “Whitey On The Moon.” At least we have a bag of rocks to show for our effort going to the moon.

    Thanks for reminding me:

In the future, please don’t presume to judge me on whether my actions are Christian or not. You’re not entitled to and I’ll be judged properly by the ONE who is in due time.

Also, saying to someone “BITE ME” is un-christian?

What biblical passage do you base that on? That debating ploy, which you used, is one usually employed by atheists and liberals (but I repeat myself) and as a result doesn’t carry much weight with me. Not only that but nowhere did I set myself up as a paragon of Christian faith.

I think your willingness to judge my comments and by inference claim that somehow I am required to adhere to YOUR standard of conduct for Christians is un-christian behavior. So there.

In other words, don’t attempt to use religion on me as an argument about something I’ve said unless I was commenting on religion.

C.J. is defending Amazon with claims that because the books sold by Amazon didn’t have the proper copyright permissions that that allows Amazon to remove those books from your ability to access them. So what’s the complaint, you got your money back didn’t you.

What this event shows, which I didn’t know, is that you don’t actually TAKE POSSESSION of the kindle books you buy. I guess they remain on Amazon’s servers, you just purchase the right to access them. So in that case, they do have the right to do this sort of thing but it still smells to me.

If I’m wrong in how that whole Kindle thing works, a la the Kindle goes online to access the book, let me know.

You’re a very hostile, angry person – that in itself is in violation of the Scriptures (Ephesians 4:32; Ephesians 4:15: “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.”).

The Bible says (Galatians 5:22) the fruit of the Holy Spirit is peace, joy, and love, but you do not usually demonstrate these traits, so I take it you don’t have the Holy Spirit (which means you are not saved, you never repented of your sins and placed trusting faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior).

In Matthew Chapter 7, Jesus said, when trying to determine who is a true believer and who is not,

Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

17 Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

    You said,

What biblical passage do you base that on?

You’re serious? If you were familiar with the Bible’s contents, you wouldn’t have to ask.

I think the Bible is very clear that being rude to people and engaging in name-calling is not the example Christ set for us.

Remember… turn the other cheek, speak the truth in love (not in rudeness) (Eph. 4.15), do not be angry.

You really come across as a troll to me, so I seriously doubt you are a Christian.

    You said,

I think your willingness to judge my comments and by inference claim that somehow I am required to adhere to YOUR standard of conduct for Christians is un-christian behavior. So there.

What a strange comment coming from someone claiming to be a believer.

It’s not “my” standard – it’s God’s standard, as I am drawing my comments from what God says in the Bible.

If someone claims to be a Christian, I am called to judge their behavior – the Bible instructs me to do so (e.g., 1 Corinthians 5:11, Galatians 6:1, Matthew 18:15).

If that person’s behavior does not line up with what is in the Bible, I will call them out on it.

I certainly don’t want any Non-Christians reading your posts thinking that you are depicting true Christianity, or that it is acceptable “Christian” behavior to be rude to people and to tell them to “bite me.”

    Eph. 5:4:

But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.

    You said,

In the future, please don’t presume to judge me on whether my actions are Christian or not. You’re not entitled to and I’ll be judged properly by the ONE who is in due time.

Sorry, but you are incorrect. In some contexts, Christians are told to judge other Christians (see for example Galatians 6:1, Matthew 18:15-17, 1 Corinthians 5:11, etc).

    You said,

Not only that but nowhere did I set myself up as a paragon of Christian faith.

If you claim to be a Christian, you are called by the Lord to act like one (e.g., Luke 6:46).

I NEVER MADE THE CLAIM TO BE A PARAGON OF CHRISTIAN FAITH.

    You’re being hysterical AND presumptious.

    re: #30 by jakee308

You have misused the “judge not” passage – as I already pointed out (with citations from the Bible in my last post), Christians are told to judge the actions/ words/ behaviors of other people who call themselves Christian.

I NEVER MADE THE CLAIM TO BE A PARAGON OF CHRISTIAN FAITH.

And, as I pointed out above, Jesus said if you follow Him, that means you are to obey Him (Luke 6:46).

You are also still displaying an angry, unloving spirit in your exchange with me, when the Bible says you are to be loving, gentle, and kind, even when disagreeing with someone.

    You said,

You also are way over the top (the length of your post is indicative) in your responses in general.

Much of my post was providing you with the Bible quotes you asked for (you wanted to know what passages of the Bible support my points, and I provided them to you).

I also pasted in your comments so you would understand what it was I was addressing. That also made the post longer.

I particularly like the phrase; “violation of the scriptures”

Another is “I think the Bible is very clear that being rude to people and engaging in name-calling is not the example Christ set for us.” In answer to my request for the biblical passage concerning my comment about “bite me” to those who were upset with the anger towards Cronkite.

    Yeah, you really answered that.

“What a strange comment coming from someone claiming to be a believer”

Once again, quote where I claimed to be a believer.

YOU are the one who’s acting like a troll. Instead of arguing the merits of the question under discussion all we hear are judgments and flat statements about me and what I am or am not.

Ad hominem attacks are the true indicator of a liberal and in this case it shows that you’re a liberal troll. All set with your biblical quotations and arguments. Making demands that I abide by your claims of interpretive authority over the definition of Christian. Next you’re be damning me to hell.

Once again, quote where I claimed to be a believer.

I think you claimed in earlier posts to be a Christian.

Are you now claiming that you are NOT a Christian?

Based upon your remarks and attitude, you do not act like how the Bible says a Christian is to conduct himself.

And why would a self-professing Christian such as yourself be irrate and act annoyed over another Christian quoting Scripture (and you’re the one who asked me to provide my Biblical support).

In answer to my request for the biblical passage concerning my comment about “bite me” to those who were upset with the anger towards Cronkite.

I did provide you with those Scriptures; here’s one of them again:

    Ephesians 4:31
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.

I have not engaged in ad hominem, I have only shown that your behavior is not condoned by the Bible. You, however, have engaged in ad hominem when you told me to “Bite me.”

    You said,
    “chill the F**k out!? Hmmm?”

The Bible also tells Christians not to use vulgar language, as you did there (see Ephesians 5:4).

When did I attack you personally? I attacked your presumption of authority as to (a personal attack again) my emotional demeanor when I wrote what I wrote. So… let me get this straight, they banned cigareets inside on the off-chance that smoke might come through from one side of the “duplex” to the other?

What the hell kind of half-arsed building standards are these things constructed to? If anything can move from one side of the dividing wall to the other it’s not sealed. If it’s not sealed it’s a hazard for fire, noise and odours. Those houses would be so illegal in this country. I don’t generally like regulations of any sort but I’d work to meet the current building regs for insulation and air sealing even if they were just suggestions. It makes sense to create an airtight seal between attached houses as anyone who’s lived in a badly insulated apartment or flat will tell you.

If they understood the concept of a strong boundary (or border for that matter) they wouldn’t need to try and regulate the lives of people in their own homes.

Let’s try to stay away from the dramatics a bit, no?

You’re not going to be banned. I don’t roll that way.

From where I sit, I’m not sure there would be any justifiable reason to ban people from smoking in their own homes. What amazes me the most is that these people seem to have done it to themselves.

They way I see it, if the people near you smoke, suck it up, or politely ask them to stop. Making law about it is just too draconian, and anti-liberty for me.

Well at least I should say that I won’t be banning you.

It is “Savage” that you have to worry about.

Oh I agree. I’m just trying to point out that either they paid good money for something that wouldn’t pass a basic building inspection, or they’re telling porkies to justify interfering. Either way, they’re not thinking right. Or at all.

I don’t know anything about the construction, and I don’t believe the article discusses it.

What I got out of that article is the mindset of the present day American.

We worry so much about what that Government is going to do to us, and what liberties the Government is going to strip away from us, but it seems that we have actually bypassed that step/worry and now have been so thoroughly indoctrinated in anti-libertyism that we would do it to ourselves.

This is echoed by most of the conversations I have with people out here. They speak in this tone, and they just understand the World from this viewpoint: the viewpoint that it is their right to conform everyones behavior to what they want. They cannot just let it be if they don’t like it. I see this all the time from friends who wish to outlaw smoking in bars, smoking on the public streets, outlaw loud music, outlaw pets in buildings, outlaw fatty foods, outlaw fast food, outlaw certain types of water, force “green” solutions on companies or people, force us to buy certain lights, etc.

It is no longer just the Government forcing us top down, but now the citizens want to do the dirty work and grant the Gov the power to do this to us, or we do it to ourselves. This is a major problem as our country has no protections in place to protect us from our fellow countrymen when they grant the Gov the authority, or do it outside the Gov.

It just seemed to be the next step in cloudy day’s repetoire. 1st. judgment 2nd. more judgment and false words ascribed 3rd. accusation of trolldom. Since I didn’t back off and pointed out the escalation the logical next step would be direct complaint to moderator for redress. (deserved or not)

    Let me say:
I will not allow anyone to put words in my mouth and then lay claim to the authority to pass judgment on me because of those words.
I will not allow someone to use scriptural passages to attempt to authorize their mendacity. Repeated incidents will be judged as personal and intentional animus.
Obfuscation via scriptural quotes and using same for indirect insult will be judged to be troll-like behavior.
I don’t believe any of the above is condemnable by any rational individual.

Speaking of banning smoking indoors, a local city to me, the city of Calabasas has banned smoking indoors and outdoors.

Smoking in one’s car is allowed, unless the windows are open and someone nearby might be affected. Smoking scofflaws face warnings, fines of up to $500 for repeat offenses, and misdemeanor charges.

Smoke with the windows up, are they crazy?
I am a smoking scofflaw every time I go to Calabasas, I make sure of it.

    I am such a rebel.

I comment on the next thread regarding the double standard for Israel. It was one of the things that most troubled me (and which stood out) regarding the 2005 Disengagement.

If you would like, I will continue this conversation there where it is more appropriate.
