CAIR withdraws from ALA panel over Robert Spencer

50 Muslim organizations join call to drop Robert Spencer as speaker on an American Library Association panel

CAIR: Library Group Panelists Withdraw Over Role of Islam-Basher
Coalition of 50 Muslim organizations joins call to drop Robert Spencer as speaker

CHICAGO, July 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Chicago office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago) today announced that all other panelists scheduled to speak at an American Library Association (ALA) annual conference session on stereotyping of Islam have withdrawn in protest over the participation of Robert Spencer, one of the nation’s leading Islam-bashers.

The Council on Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIOGC), a coalition of more than 50 Muslim organizations, also joined CAIR-Chicago, the other ALA panelists and a number of librarians and academics in calling on ALA to drop Spencer from the July 12 panel titled “Perspectives on Islam: Beyond the Stereotyping.”

Spencer is the publisher of the anti-Islam Internet hate site “Jihad Watch.” The independent national media watch group Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR) identifies him as one of “America’s leading Islamophobes” who systematically “spread fear, bigotry, and misinformation.” A FAIR special report, called “Smearcasters,” provides examples of Spencer’s Islamophobic views.

No, they don’t. Their examples are of Spencer stating the truth:

Of course, the devil can quote scripture for his own purpose, but Osama’s use of these and other passages in his messages is consistent (as we shall see) with traditional understanding of the Quran. When modern-day Jews and Christians read their Bibles, they simply don’t interpret the passages cited as exhorting them to violent actions against unbelievers. This is due to the influence of centuries of interpretative traditions that have moved them away from literalism regarding these passages. But in Islam, there is no comparable interpretative tradition.

Unfortunately, however, jihad as warfare against non-believers in order to institute “Sharia” worldwide is not propaganda or ignorance, or a heretical doctrine held by a tiny minority of extremists. Instead, it is a constant element of mainstream Islamic theology. (Jihad Watch, 3/3/07)

Yep.

In his letters to the ALA, CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab emphasized that the issue is not censorship, but is instead about the need for the ALA to take responsibility for its misrepresentation of the event to the panelists and the public.

Sure it is.

Spencer recently supported a conference in Florida featuring Dutch anti-Islam politician Geert Wilders.

Oh no! Well, that settles it.

They have learned well from the liberals. Speech is only free if it agrees with them.

    Oh noz!
No radical muslim groups will attend the meeting?
    Whatever will become of us?

Perhaps the ALA has hit upon the perfect strategy to defeat the spread of islam and dhimmitude in this country.
Present one contrary voice to fifty of the muslim’s, and they will take their tespih and go home.

Does anyone remember when those Somalians wanted to take breaks earlier because of Ramadan? And they signed statements saying they’d agree to work with pork? Well, CAIR filed a lawsuit on their behalf and the company caved in and settled.

I’ll definitely have to read Alinsky’s Rules For Radicals. I’m sure the radical mohammedans will use whatever means necessary to dominate America, since, according to them, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.”

Iran hardliners protest German killing of Egyptian

TEHRAN (Reuters) – A group of hardline Iranians gathered in front of the German embassy in Tehran on Saturday to protest against the murder of an Egyptian woman inside a German courtroom, a Reuters witness said.

Iran summoned German ambassador to Iran Herbert Honsowitz on Friday to protest against the murder, urging Berlin to do more to protect the rights of religious minorities in Germany.

Since we know Iran does and all. They are all about religious freedom.

Iran Parliament Approves Death Penalty for Apostasy Bill

But at least they are thinking about changing it.

Protests over recent election results demonstrated considerable opposition to the Iranian government’s tactics. Many Christians have supported the opposition because of the oppression they have experienced under the current regime.

Pray for believers in Iran. The government has been accusing the West of interfering and stirring up trouble. Open Doors USA president Carl Moeller says this passing of blame bodes ill for Christians, whom the Iranian government sees as pawns of the West; they could expect even harsher treatment later on.

Evangelism is already banned, and other forms of outreach are scrutinized, so continued ministry is very tricky. Konyndyke urges prayer. “It would be an answer to prayer to have the apostasy aspect of the penal code be abolished, but of course, even if this were the case, there are many trials facing Christians in Iran, and the cost of leaving Islam would still be high.”

Ask God to strengthen Iranian believers to continue honouring Him despite pressure and opposition from authorities.

I will never tire of hearing the greatest song ever written, Beethoven’s ninth symphony, in all it’s iterations.

Take note of the few violent protesters in support of Zelaya(mostly chavez/ortega apparatchiks) at the start, and the thousands upon thousands of peaceful protesters in support of the Honduran constitution.

Don’t you find it fascinating that when someone repeats what a Muslim leader or what is written in their self-identified holy book, it is called “HATE SPEECH”?

Personally, except when as in the bible they refer to historical occurrences, all verses in the Qu,aran should be considered HATE SPEECH.

Look, I’m no fan of Obama, but c’mon; men are gonna look. Ask any woman who’s dated a man more than 10 minutes. We’ve got better things to indict this empty suit for than ogling women.

BTW. I’ve seen the videos and it is my opinion that it is not as blatant or certain as everyone make out that he actually IS ogling.

Hey, at least (so far) there hasn’t been any “bimbo eruptions”, splooged dresses, damp cigars or emergency Service Master visits to the Oval office.
