Tomorrow, there will be nationwide Tea Parties across the country once again. I hope everyone that canbe there is out there in full force.
Pajamas Media: How to Talk to Reporters at Your Tea Party
As a brand-new fiscal conservative and Republican, I notice some of my new friends have little or no experience with political protests. They could use a few tips on how to talk to reporters and how to make the most of their tea party demonstration experience. I was a newspaper reporter for a couple of years in the 1980s, and because lesbians and women have had to fight for equality, I’ve participated in picketing, demonstrations, and marches since around 1974. The most important thing you can bring to your tea party is your 30-second answer to the following question: “Why are you here?”
| I am here to tell the rest of America to snap out of the zombie state and open their eyes to what is happening. |

I am here for the fellowship with other Americans that feel the same way that I do because it is nice to know that not everyone is taken in by this cult of personality that wants to change everything about the country that I hold dear. |

| I am here because I want the next generations to experience the greatness that we have been so lucky to be a part of. |
![]() |
| I am here to tell Janeane Garafalo that a lot of us were mad about the spending of the Bush administration, and that anyone who comes in and makes that debt look paltry in the first six months of office HAS to be told that we aren’t going to keep taking it and I would ask her why she isn’t protesting with us. |

| I am here because I love my country. |

I am here because I love my country too much to want to see her spiraling down towards socialism.
I am here because I want my country to be a country where one can work to take care of himself (and his family, if he has one) and prosper.
I am here because I refuse to give up the freedom, the liberty our Founding Fathers risked their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor for.
I am here because I want to see real hope and change in America; less government, less of my money going to them to waste it away.
I am here because I want America to be the great republic she was and can be again. And will be.
Whoa! Sarah Palin is stepping down from governorship July 25th. Just announced!
She’s says she can do more outside the system!
2012?
That is a shock! I hope she succeeds at what she’ll be doing next.
Wow, Palin resigning. If she were considering a run for potus in ‘12, this is not a good move. Dear G-d why do I think that The Obama extortion machine had something to do with this?
Sorry, just can’t help it.
re: #4 by vagabond trader
Why are people (Ace, patterico, riehl, you) saying she can’t quit the gov’s job and run for Pres?
1. she’s taking a lot of flack from locals about her national activities.
2. she can’t control where and what she says due to the constraints of the gov office.
3. being a private citizen allows her to engage the media at the dirt level. can’t do that as head of state.
4. removes sniping at her over all the above by the media and the dem operatives in AK.
What’s the downside of her resigning. I think folks are so used to someone resigning due to a peccadillo or outright felony that they can’t wrap their heads around someone actually doing the right thing for her constituents by resigning before it becomes absolutely necessary. win, win.
I am glad that the media thinks it’s so shocking, shows how much they’ve been waiting to see her put down they leap at the chance to declare her dead.
My opinion; she either she runs for Senator (murkowski is up for re-election in 2010) OR she goes on speaking tours (lots of people will pay money just to see her) gets donations and paid and gets her positions and goals out there with the public.
re: #5 by jakee308
If she intends to run for potus, we have a right to know why she quit her seemingly successful Governorship. Politics is a rough game and folks want to know in order to be able to decide if their candidate can take the heat. btw, I’d be a bit upset if I were an Alaskan who voted for her and counted on her leadership.Sorry you don’t get that.
re: #5 by jakee308
She’s also hundred of thousands in debt because the left dedicate their entire lives filing frivolous lawsuits against her which she has to fight. She made a point of saying that state resources are being used to defend her and she doesn’t like that – it’s not good for Alaska.
Her Lt Gov is on the same page as her and I think she is comfortible with handing the reigns over to him.
A few speaking engagements and she and her family will be back in the black.
Also, she can be a great spokes person to go around the country explaining exactly why maobama’s energy and health schemes are bad for this country.
I’m fine with this and I see a lot of upsides to it.
re: #6 by vagabond trader
If you’re from AK, then you obviously have a closer and more accurate view plus feelings concerning this and I apologize if I seemed disparaging about your opinion. I just saw so many take this same view (that she’s finished in politics because of this) and reacted.
Circumstances change for office holders as well as the public.
From what I’ve read, she had already decided to not run for re-election and once THAT decision was made she then (and I think rightfully so) decided not to wait till the last minute (which would harm Parnell’s chance of succeding her).
I wish OTHER office holder’s that KNEW they would not seek re-election would’ve done the same thing in the past.
I applaud her for doing this NOW. It does give the media a reason to speculate about the reasons for her resignation (but let’s be real, if there was some BIG blockbuster of a story out there, wouldn’t they have already reported those rumors as FACT by now?)
The worst is if she just said “to hell with this sh!t” in re: all the media piling on and the sniping by the dem apparatchiks (who’ve caused her PERSONALLY to acquire a 500K legal debt and who’s legal attacks have ALL BEEN THROWN OUT!) exhausted her ability to govern and maintain her family.
The Best is if she is either;
a. planning a run for senator.
b. (most likely) going on the talk circuit to raise money and test the waters for a presidential run.
Only time will tell.
(be real, wouldn’t you like to see just one OLD politician stop running for an office so that the younger, fresher person has a chance? I can think of numerous examples where we would be better off if someone had had the courage AND the statesmanship to leave office for the good of the country.)
re: #7 by vapig
Well, as you can see, I agree with you.
It makes me grit my teeth when I see all the haters and their speculations and barely concealed glee at this turn of events. Of course her enemies will cast this move in as bad a light as possible.
re: #8 by jakee308
lol,not from AK.I like her very much, just think this may be a tactical error if being prez is the goal.Need money,co author a book setting out your agenda and philosophy, win win.
She is going to have to be flawlessly on message, that is just the way the game is played. The Obama machine is going to skewer her. Best wishes, should be interesting. btw, the Friday before a holiday dump ain’t gonna soften the impact of this story.
Hey! If nothing else this woman has singlehandedly got Michael Jackson off of every tv channel and radio dial.
For that she deserves a medal!
I am here, waiting for all the parties to begin.
I don’t believe all the America haters and negative naysayers, this is a great country, and its greatness has always been because of its people.
Many years ago, I was at a Christmas party of an old friend, a plaintiffs lawyer, and former state Senator. He truly is a good man, though we differ tremendously politically.
While at this party, at his 300 acre ranch, I was walking by a group of about eight people, with one verbose lady holding court. I found out later she was a social gadfly, married to a prominent plaintiffs lawyer. Without joining the group, I paused to see what the discussion was about. She was going on about what had made this nation great was multiculturalism. No one offered an opposing view, they either didn’t know how to respond, agreed with her, or were afraid to fall out of her good graces.
I had to speak up. I smiled, genially, and asked politely if I could raise another point. All eyes were on me now, with two that were particularly searing. I stated that if multiculturalism was what had made this country great, with all the tired and weak, and huddled masses, what was it that brought them here, and still does.
No response.
I continued.
There had to be a reason, a magnet, that brought all of the diverse people from every point on the globe, to this great country.
No response, no questions at all.
I then stated that I believed that freedom and liberty were the magnet that attracted so many different people to this country. That it was the natural desire of man to be free, to dream, to strive to make a better life without restrictions from governments or monarchies, and to keep the rewards of their efforts and hard work.
A slight pause ensued, followed with some widened eyes, and some “oooooh….ahhhh” sounds, followed by many affirmative nods.
Except for one person, still standing in the middle of a now distracted group.
I smiled, and walked away, and as the evening progressed, fewer and fewer people would engage me.
I have never been invited back to my friends for any parties, his liberal friends, and wife, don’t like being corrected.
re: #12 by no2liberals
Great story!! For all those liberal elites that have and wish to redistribute the wealth of others I declare them ignorant ingrates! Such should all be deported to our nearest neighbor to the north to enjoy the socialist heaven they obviously crave! this land is for real Americans!
re: #13 by vapig
Thanks.
I prefer to call them self-anointed elites, rather than elites.
I don’t recognize their status as being greater than Joe Smith, electrical contractor. At least people like Ol’Joe actually produce something, and make our lives better.
God bless the United States and Our Constitution, protecting both from the left.
re: #12 by no2liberals
Liberals despise the freedoms they take for granted, but are the first to yell fascist.
an odd irony, that.
re: #16 by LanceKates
Yes it is, especially when you consider fascist were lefties.
