“Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: “Mankind”. Basically, it’s made up of two separate words – “mank” and “ind”. What do these words mean? It’s a mystery, and that’s why so is mankind.”

So this guy walks into a bar and asks the Bartender if he wants to hear a blond joke. The Bartender says,

“Look at me..I’m blond, and my waitress,…she’s blond. See my bouncer Gunther? He’s blond, and do you see the two patrons over there? They’re blond. Sir, you still want to tell a blond joke?”

The man answers, “Well, not if I have to explain it five times.”

    I have an observation:

I find it interesting, to say the least, that the very folks who have jumped up and down over bailing out GM and Chrysler claiming that they should have been forced into bankruptcy and not to have attempted to save them, (I agree btw) are the same ones claiming that we should “bail out” the Republican party (with our donations) even though it did nothing for 14 years towards any of the “claimed core principles of the Republican party” (and reducing the size of government was always a biggy).
Who actually ENLARGED government and who are totally inept when handling the Media (that’s assuming that they actually believe what they told us they believe), unable to manage to field candidates that have “clean” backgrounds and currently abide by their contracts and oaths and show a willingness to “cooperate” with the Democrats regardless of the consequences.

I say it’s time to say “NO MORE”.

    NO MORE RINO’S
    NO MORE PHILANDERERS
    NO MORE BI-PARTISANSHIP
    NO MORE MEDIA WHORING
    NO MORE MAN CRUSHES
ON OBAMA BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE PARTY
NO MORE TRASHING OF THE ONLY PERSON WITH
    VALUES
    NO MORE MONEY FOR REPROCRATS!

They say that we won’t get anyone in office with that attitude. I SAY; SO WHAT? IF WE ELECT SOMEONE BUT THEY’RE AS BAD AS THE DEMOCRAT WOULD HAVE BEEN, WHAT’S THE POINT?

I SAY THE REPUBLICANS HAVE USED AND ABUSED ME FOR THE LAST TIME. I’M SITTING ON THE SIDELINES UNTIL A CANDIDATE SHOWS UP THAT I THINK WILL KEEP THEIR PROMISES. UNTIL THEN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY CAN GO BANKRUPT. BANKRUPT ON VOTES, ON MONEY, ON MY BACKING.

I was a total ELP fan also! I’m keyboard player and I had a band back about 1980 that played ELP cover tunes. Lots of fun. Heh…I have a CD one of my band mates put together a couple of years ago from a tape he made of the very first time we played in public. He found that tape while cleaning out his garage. I wish he could have recorded any of the gigs after that one: I really messed up a lot of times that first time out.

In fact, ELP was the first concert I had ever gone to and I remember one guy in line (yes I spent the night on the sidewalk) said I would be ruined for life as far as concerts go. He said ELP was the concert that should be your last, not your first concert experience!

He was right – so in 1997, the last concert I ever saw was – ELP!!!

I have a couple of DVD’s of them when they regrouped. It’s funny that Keith still has his wall of synth equipment while using modern tech to achieve the same sound.

When I saw them at the Jam I was right up front and was amazed at the sound they produced live. At the end of their performance that wall turned towards the audience and sprouted wings. And then there was the drum solo of Palmer where the whole platform began to turn and kept on turning. And the other thing I distinctly remember was Emerson played the piano and he and the piano rose and began to twirl end over end while he still played. Amazing show.

For a good 10 years I went to so many concerts they just kinda blur in my mind. It’s that first one that really sticks in my memory.

We used to have these things in the Bay Area called, “Days on the Green,” where you would be inundated with at least five bands in the hot sun with a bunch of drunk/buzzed teenagers/young people.

RI man who claimed raisins made him sick can sue
    AP

    2 hrs 22 mins ago

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A man who says he was sickened by a box of raisins donated to a food program by Rhode Island’s prison system can proceed with a lawsuit against the agency. The state Supreme Court said Tuesday that a lower court judge erred by dismissing a 2006 lawsuit from Thomas Adams.

Adams alleged that he suffered nausea, vomiting and diarrhea after eating a box of raisins in October 2004. He says he found an insect larva and insect dung near the bottom of the box.

The raisins were stored at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections food distribution center. They were then distributed as part of a federal food program for needy residents. Adams got the raisins in a food giveaway by a Providence church.

Zep was good in concert as was Deep Purple. I saw them both multiple times.

Those days on the Green sound like a good time, but in like manner as many of the attendants there I was a stoner and remember very little of the many bands I’ve seen live. I compiled a list, not too long ago, of the groups I’ve seen to use for later reference.

    Here it is.

Black Sabbath 4x. (once with Dio)
    Led Zeppelin 3x
    Rush 2x
    Styx 2x
    Seals & Croft
    Black Oak Arkansas
    Deep Purple 4x
    REO Speedwagon
    38 Special
    Steve Vai 7x
    Joe Satriani 8x
Dream Theater 5x (and again this August)
    The Wallflowers
    Steve Morse 2x
    Kenny Wayne Sheppard
    Eric Johnson
    Los Lobos
    Jethro Tull
    Gang of Four
    The Ramones
    Robert Fripp
    The English Beat
    Graham Parson
    Oingo Boingo 2x
    The B-52’s
    Talking Heads
    The Police 2x
    The Joe Sharino Band
    Dave Edmunds
    Eddie Money
    Rare Earth
    Earth, Wind and Fire
    Eagles
    Santana
    The Cars
    Los Lonely Boys
    The Kinks 2x
    Pat Benatar

    REM
    Human League
    Simple Minds
    The Clash
    X
    The Osmond Brothers
    Grateful Dead
    Jerry Jeff Walker
    Jimmy Buffett
    Jackson Browne
    Redbone
    Fleetwood Mac 2x
    Russia
    The Baby’s

    Journey
    The Rolling Stones
    Prince
    Molly Hatchet
Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul
    Berlin
    Quarterflash
    U2 2x
    Missing Persons
    The Pretenders
    Joe Walsh
    Stevie Nicks
    David Bowie
    Emerson, Lake and Palmer
    Electric Light Orchestra
Elf (with early Ronnie James Dio)
    Yes 4 x
    Cheap Trick
    George Thorogood
    Rod Stewart and the Faces
Van Halen (At a high school before they hit the LA clubs)

Well, there was this blond that got tired of all the blond jokes, so she decided to change her hair color. On the way back from the salon she sees this farm and a herd of sheep grazing so she decides to try out her new hair and turns onto the road leading to the house.

She pulls up to herder and says, “If I can quess how many sheep you have there can I have one?”

The herder thinks in bewilderment and says, “Yeah.. sure, OK”

    So the brunette says, “223″

The herder is amazed that she guessed correctly and says, “Amazing..that’s right, go ahead and take your sheep” So she picks the animal up.

The Herder then says, “Miss, If I can guess your original hair color, can I have my dog back?”

I always liked Alice Cooper! Though I never really got into his music. Only thing I remember is, “Schools Out,” and “No More Mr Nice Guy.”

I remember an interview with him on tv and he was talking about how he was doing an interview in a resturant. During the entire interview, some old guy (he was probably a conservative – but I was young and the story was funny!) was talking about how shocking and disgusting “some people” dressed in public.

He said he did his best to just ignore the guy and answered the interviewers questions despite the distraction.

At the end of the interview, he said he got up and went right up beside the guy, leaned down, gave him a quick hug and said, “It is so nice to see you again!” And walked away.

I just loved that story – still do apparantly!

I had no choice in the matter. I had to be an Alice fan. And KISS. My uncles wouldn’t have it any other way, lol.

I never thought I would see him live and he came around in like ‘86 or so and I was amazed. From about ‘85 I had went to see every “hair band” 80’s type that came around (RATT n’ ROLL!, Motley Crue & the like). Alice was completely different. Back to rock. And every single song had a whole elaborate stage play to go along with it. That’s why I say it was like a rock opera.

    I thought it was great.

    No ma’am.
Never been to New York City, either.
Hoping to put that on my headstone.

From an earlier post: Someone needs to tell me how to do a screan shot!

    http://www.americanheritage.com/blog/200612_5_743.shtml

The territory that we did acquire was largely unpopulated by Mexicans. Except for the California missions and a few settlements in New Mexico, such as Taos and Santa Fe, it was empty. (Like the people of the 1840s, Mexicans and Americans alike, I am, of course, ignoring the Indian population. That, I think, is best treated as a separate issue.) The total Mexican population of the Mexican Cession was about 15,000 people. Few if any decided to leave after the United States acquired the territory, which would indicate that their ties to Mexico were as weak as the Mexican hold on the land.

So this BS from Mexico and groups like La Raza are a bunch of lies. We didn’t steal the land and no one lived on it. Well, except the Indians, but that’s another story.

However the situation with the hispanic outrage over the theft of a land they never occupied is would be comparable to the pali outrage over their claim to a land they never occupied.

They only started laying claim to the land that was formerly Mexico, because of the improvements made to it. At the time Santa Anna was President, he couldn’t get any Mexicans to colonize here, so he started allowing American settlers.
As for a screen-shot, there is a key on my keyboard for that. It says Prt Scr on top, with a line, and SysRq on the bottom. Keyboards are different, so check yours, and maybe the instruction manual, if you still have it.

    scary stuff on John Holdren

    http://www.frontpagemag.com/readArticle.aspx?ARTID=34198

When Barack Obama nominated John P. Holdren as his Science Adviser last December 20, the president-elect stated “promoting science isn’t just about providing resources” but “ensuring that facts and evidence are never twisted or obscured by politics or ideology.” In nominating John Holdren, his words could scarcely have taken a more Orwellian ring.

I’m waiting for cj to start turning on zombie, though I don’t believe he’ll have the guts to do it. That would no doubt cause mass defections. However, I suspect there will be increasing, subtle “disagreements”. I also suspect zombie will begint to spend less time at 1.0.

Well he can ‘out’ zombie so I am sure that she will tread carefully although I agree that she might silently start pulling away. I suspect that Nevergiveup and Kenneth, will eventually get banned (particularly Nevergiveup). Not too many committed conservatives still there and those that are there are afraid of the ‘banning stick’ so they have to watch what they say particularly on the anti creationist and and anti tea party threads. This weekend there will be a lot of tea parties going on and I would expect a lot of hot words on LGF threads with Killgore Trout being the main agitator looking for Ron Paul and neo fascist connections.

I have to admire the tenacity of Nevergiveup (perfect nic!). Personally, I couldn’t deal with the tyranny over there. I agree that he/she will be banned in due course. Are we totally certain that cj can out zombie? That would be horrible, though even more horrible is zombie being chained to lgf due to a kind of “blackmail”?

I am sure he knows who zombie is. Zombie is somewhat socially liberal so she and CJ are probably on the same page on a lot of things although she must be a bit put off by the leftward lurch of LGF. Nevergiveup, Kenneth, and maybe LGOPs probably will not last very long (although they might self ban themselves). This is the post that got Zimriel banned and I do not think it was deserved. It is his opinion that LGF is now an anti conservative blog. I tend to think that LGF is a left wing blog now but it can be a matter for debate.

So,if it is wrong for opponents of cap & defraud to call supporters traitors, is it wrong for Paul Krugman to call opponents traitors to the planet?
On LGF, it is. This is an anti-conservative blog.
Charles chooses what to promote and what not to promote. There is a pattern this year.
Re the internal problems in the Republican Party, Charles showcases people like Snowe, Collins, and Whitman when they attack conservative principles. This isn’t about creationists or even “social conservatives” (whom Charles has said he cannot stand – I believe “inhumane” was the term he used); Snowe, Collins, and Whitman are all fiscal squishes as well. Snowe and Collins in particular voted for the “Stimulus” bill which did not fix, and never had any intention of fixing, the weaknesses of the post-Bush economy. Snowe, Collins, and Whitman just attack conservatives because it gets them in the news and shores up their votes in the Massachusetts exile community at home. Charles probably knew that, and certainly knows it now, but he does not care. The ends do not invalidate the means here.
Re Honduras, Charles didn’t say anything about Zelaya’s Chavismo attempts to take over as what the Greeks used to call a “tyrant”. When he got (legally) ousted, Charles declared that a coup and refused to support it. Better not to do anything to halt the slide.
Re the cap & trade vote, Charles had no comment yea or nay, despite the abuse of procedure. The voters-for had not read the bill. The bill was not on the floor. Where the bill was to be found, it turned out to be incomplete, with placeholders for someone else to fill in. For Charles, the ends might not justify the means – but again, they do not invalidate it either.
Re this issue here, some excitable bloggers use the term “#capntr8or”. Krugman uses the term “traitor to the planet” – as in, crimes against humanity. Charles doesn’t care about Krugman’s hints to Nuremberg for “deniers”. “Deniers” is another loaded term for Krugman, who happens to be Jewish, and knows what he’s doing when he uses it.
What avanti says today, Killgore will say tomorrow; and Charles, more often than not, will post the same the day after that. Killgore has told you all as much and, for some reason, some of you resent him “speaking for Charles”. Well, he DOES speak for Charles.
So: LGF is an anti-conservative blog. LGF’s mission this year is to embarrass everybody in the conservative movement it can. Understand that, and accept it, and rebut the arguments where you can. But don’t bother convincing Charles to change his mind because, if you’re a conservative, he’s got a bias against you
