Bones in St. Paul’s tomb are 2000 yrs old

The Vatican has confirmed with carbon dating that the bones in the tomb of St. Paul are 2000 years old. This proves that it is more than likely that these are the bones of St. Paul. This is another case of Science backing up Judeo-Christian claims. Unlike another blogger, I don’t view Science and Religion as contradictions, but as complimentary.

Pope: Analysis on St. Paul’s bones seems to confirm belief that Roman relics belong to apostle

ROME – The first-ever scientific test on what are believed to be the remains of the Apostle Paul “seems to confirm” that they do indeed belong to the Roman Catholic saint, Pope Benedict XVI said Sunday.

It was the second major discovery concerning St. Paul announced by the Vatican in as many days.

    Interesting.

Paul was supposedly beheaded in Rome, so it is a likely place for his body.

Well too bad for the Muslims. Roma is Latin and Christian territory. They already stole enough Christian Land: Lebanon, Anatolia, Syria, Egypt, North Africa.

Ah yes; and the russians invented everything and the whites stole all the blacks music.

Ever notice how it’s the ones who haven’t done much or are overall culturally backward that lay claim to someone else’s positive effort/results.

Regarding the topic: I got a chuckle out of the Vatican confirming carbon dating — can’t you just see a tour guide taking you from priceless relics and opening a door to show you the Holy Carbon Dating Machine.

This is seriously exciting news re: the relics. Its rumored the Vatican also has plunder from the Temple in Jerusalem. I know historians who were allowed to do research in their massive archives, lots of stuff there too.

I’ve understood recently that carbon dating is not a reliable way to tell the age. Now they are saying it is?

  26. 26 | June 29, 2009 10:17 am

The argument is that it becomes unreliable beyond ten to fifteen thousand years (or maybe 100 thousand, I can’ recall the precise figure now), which seems to be true. Up to that point multiple tests will tend to agree with each other. After that you get a pot luck with tests having wild differences between them, on the order of millions of years in some cases.

…they do indeed belong to the Roman Catholic saint…

Er, there was no Roman Catholic church in Paul’s time. Also, Paul was a Rabbi/Pharisee whose mission was to minister to the non-Jew, or Gentile, if you will. He went there in petition to Caesar since he was also a Roman when the Jews tried to jail him. He appealed to Caesar and that was why he was there and eventually died.

The technique has improved and is now reliable.

    re: #27 by song_and_dance_man

It’s fair to call him a roman catholic saint, given they made him one at some point, though it would also be fair to just call him a christian saint.
