For clarification, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard(IRG), or as they are alternately called, the Pasdaran or Al Quds Force, are not affiliated with the Iranian Army...at all.
The IRG has its own Army and Navy, it was their Navy that captured the Brits last year.
If you visualize an organizational chart, with the Mad Mullahs at the top, one line from them goes down to the President and Parliament, and all other normal government functions, including the military. The other line goes from the Mad Mullahs to the IRG. The President can't say boo to the IRG, only the Mad Mullahs.
They were formed to protect the Islamic Revolution, not Iran, and one of their most important functions is to spread their ideology beyond Iran. It was the IRG that formed Hezbollah, equipped and trained them, and still does. Even the Hezbo flag is a replica of the IRG flag.
The Basiji militia come under the umbrella of the IRG, but still only report to the Mullahs.

One of the issues that really confused me when I was still frequenting LGF was the feud with Atlas Shrugs and Jihad Watch. I just don't see the issue the way Charles does--not that he may not be correct, but I don't think the matter is a deal breaker the way he did.

Anyway, I do read Atlas Shrugged daily, and I'm so glad I do:

OT:

The broad strokes used by that "Defenseman" are just pathetic. That weak argument style and painting everyone with the same brush seems very familiar.
