Weekly Standard [Conservative Magazine] may have been shooter target

More evidence, via Politico, to suggest that the wacko white-supremicist who killed a guard at the Holocaust museum this week was preparing to act out on his hatred against CONSERVATIVES.

FBI agents visited the offices of the conservative Weekly Standard magazine yesterday after a shooting at the Holocaust Memorial Museum and told employees they’d found the magazine’s address

A senior Standard staffer confirmed the visit but declined to discuss it in detail. An FBI spokeswoman, Katherine Schweit , also declined to comment on the investigation.

Two other sources said two FBI agents arrived shortly after 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the 17th Street offices of the magazine. They told staffers that they had found the address of the magazine on a piece of paper associated with the shooter, James von Brunn, and asked whether the Standard had received any threats.

The magazine is about a mile north of the Holocaust Museum, and there’s no other indication that von Brunn had targeted it. Von Brunn’s published rants included attacks on “neocons,” and the Standard has been at the heart of the neoconservative movement.

The suggestion that the Standard may have been a target complicates any view of the racist shooter in contemporary left-right terms. Von Brunn’s white supremacist roots put him under the rubric of a “right-wing extremist,” but the substance of his views — which included everything from believing that President Bush may have been in on the September 11 attacks to denying that President Obama is an American citizen — are too far on the fringe to fit into conventional political classification.

The focus on the Standard, though, appears to be of a piece with his central motivation: Anti-Semitism. In one essay, Von Brunn attacked “JEWS-NEOCONS-BILL O’REILLY,” and the suggestion that neoconservatism is a specifically Jewish conspiracy is common on the racist fringe.

So let’s see what we know about this von Brunn charactre so far:

- Hates Jews

- Hates Christians

- Hates Israel

- Hates “Neo-Cons”

- Hates globalisation

- Hates George Bush

- Hates John McCain

- Hates Bill O’Reilly

- Hates the Weekly Standard

And the media, as well as the magnificent idiot who runs LGF 1.0, are still rolling with the “crazy Right winger” line?  Please, somebody with more patience than I, would you clue these guys in?

UPDATE: Via Hot Air, it is also possible that another one of von Brunn’s targets was none other than Fox News

Law enforcement sources told WTTG/MyFoxDC.com that during a search of a car that is believed to belong von Brunn, investigators found a notebook with information about six to nine locations in the D.C. area, including the National Holocaust Museum. Other locations on the list included the U.S. Capitol, the White House, the Washington Post, and a FOX News location.

So he hates Fox News too.  How long does anyone think the credibility of the “right wing extremist” label is going to last?

The left-wing and/or Islamist attacks on America have stepped up since Obortion’s inauguration it must be that the left feels comfortable to attack conservatives & military personnel based on the message that they are getting from Obortion’s rhetoric.

Uh…. being racist isn’t a conservative trait and, specifically, being part of a ‘white supremacy’ group doesn’t make one conservative. Most of those groups want the government to enforce their will.

    That’s, uh…. liberal.

Overall, the guy is a nut. Specifically, he is a racist nut.

Being racist, despite what Ben Smith says, is not part of the Conservative ‘rubric’

I like John Ziglar. When he was on KFI in LA I called in and had a great moment on talk radio. It was the once a month ask him whatever you wanted. Well, he had just gone up north to investigate a now forgotten issue. I think it was an execution of a murderer. Anyway he was grabbed in the ass by a protester.

So I asked him about that ass grab. He wanted to know why I asked. So I politely asked him if it was just a two finger pinch or a full on palm down finger wrap type of grab on his buttocks. He became interested why I would inquire about the grab, and I ended with… This liberal may have just wanted to know what a racists ass felt like.

I got a signed book for the call.

    Yes, that was it! AWESOME!

There aren’t many things I liked in the 1970s, but that was one of the few cool things. Cheesy but cool.

I remember listening to that .45 record in my sister’s room on her stereo when I was a kid.

There was another odd movie song from the 1970s – my sister had the .45 to that one too, but I can’t remember what it was called.

Some band took dialog from various mid-1970s movies and put it together to make a story. I remember a few lines from ‘JAWS’ was in it.

Anyway – thank you for that video, I enjoyed hearing that song again.

    Oh. Politico. Snore.

Left wing maniacs who characterize someone who questions the O’s ‘credential’s’ as fringe are myopic. . . and so much worse.

No, I am NOT in league with this white supremacist whacko.

But I do definitely question the O’s credentials.

I remember the spoof called “Troops”

It was like cops, but with stormtroopers.
