Breaking News – Obama Drops Key Clause in Jerusalem Embassy Memo

It appears as if the Apologist-in-Chief is continuing his efforts at alienating our closest friend and ally – and the only truly and completely representative democracy – in the Middle East.  In the official Presidential memo detailing our policy approach to Israel, there was a clause that was always inserted by Bush, to the effect that the USA continues to commit itself to moving our embassy to Jerusalem.  Well, in Obama’s first release of this document, the clause isn’t there.

Late on Friday The Washington Times’ Christian Bourge obtained a copy of Presidential Determination 2009-19, latest in a series of pro forma memos to the Secretary of State entitled “Suspension of Limitations Under the Jerusalem Embassy Act.” This determination is a legally required waiver under said act to continue to delay the May 31, 1999 deadline for moving the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Nearly identical memos like this have been issued every six months for the last decade. Standard procedure, no big deal, right? Well in the Bush years the memo contained the sentence,

“My Administration remains committed to beginning the process of moving our embassy to Jerusalem.”

The Obama team has edited that passage out. This explains the Friday evening release. Congress should revisit the Jerusalem Embassy Act and remove the loophole that has allowed this charade to continue for ten years. Meanwhile the president should explain exactly what his policy is on this issue, and why he is not committed to beginning the process of moving the embassy.

In the world of Washington DC, releasing news late on the Friday afternoon is the political equivalent of trying to bury a body in the cornfield.  News is released at that time because the players know it will be found out eventually, and so they have some plausibility in saying that
“hey, we didn’t hide anything,” but all the same, it’s buried because, well, who pays attention to world events on Friday night?

Looks like Obama is trying to appease his new friends, the Palestinians.

    FIRST!!!!!

    Take that Chuckles

This is an implied signal to the Arabs that US. does not recognize that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.

It’s much more pathetic than that. They aren’t his friends. He wants them to be his friends. He’s like the little nerd offering to do the quarterbacks homework so he’ll like him.

The settlements, now this.Make impossible demands of Israel, then paint them as obstructionists when they don’t comply.

That seems likely, but I think there is much more going on here. The final objective seems to be much larger than just an attempt to appease the Arabs. And we are not going to like the way it all ends.

As for the “first” comment thing….it’s whimsical which flies in the face of the oh-so sophisticated and “mature” charles johnson. One cannot engage in such frivolity and at “his blog” and I’m glad we thumb our nose at his playground rules by posting FIIIIIIRRRRST!!!! I love it. I hope we don’t get that looking-down-your-nose-serious-attitude here. There’s enough of that floating at 1.0.

I agree. Now maybe people who had “no idea” about his love and respect for Palestinians over Jews will finally pull their head outta their ass and realize that the so-called “conspiracy theories” about his connections to those people are in fact true.

I also wonder how all of his now exposed biased against Jews, and his apparent love for the Muslim world will effect the next Presidential election?? Do you think the sheep will accept it by 2012 because he still makes unicorns fly and lollipop candy fall from the sky with his magic voice?

Folks, he isn’t just “finding his muslim roots” – he is using the American Taxpayer’s money to actively promote the “religion” of islam on the White House website, owned and operated at the expense of the American Taxpayer. This is a clear violation of separation of church and state.

Some fear that the inability of many European left-wing parties to attract voters is a cause — not just a symptom — of a rise among parties on the far right. “When people fear that they are not protected by their governments, they go back to nationalism,” said Anthony Wedgwood Benn, a retired U.K. Socialist lawmaker.

President Bush was an engaging speaker who often spoke even without notes and truly from his heart. The words he spoke were HIS words.

Obama cannot string five words together to answer a simple question without his teleprompter to tell him what to say. He is not a great speaker or even a good speaker. He is a reader, who reads the words of others as they appear on the screen in front of him – Karaoke Jesus. He owns so little of what he reads as his grand pronouncements from on high that he does not even know when he is reading someone else’s speech or repeating the speech that was just given. Anyone who can be fooled by such malarkey is an intellectual midget and hard of hearing to boot. Five thumbs down.

I hear ya. When I hear any portion of a Gore speech, it’s a bloody sermon. He learned well the speech cadences at Divinity School. Delivering a Sermon: 101. I like to refer to such endearing people as the “Elmer Gantry” types, that being such an accurate written portrayal of such religious, pseudo or otherwise, hucksters. The Classics are classics for a reason.

I totally agree with your sentiments – especially the ingrate part. For a couple (and all their smarmy “friends”) that received the finest education and ended up in the White House, they still wake up every morning with hatred in their hearts for this country.

How ideologically blind can you get? How hypocritical? He didn’t get there with a military coup taking over an injust nation – this nation selected him (blech! not me – but you get my drift!) to lead us – all of us.

We aren’t an evil nation – but we now have an evil leader.

I’m convinced they are “groupies”. Why, I can’t tell you, but cj seems to satisfy some need they have for validation, and they in turn validate him. I’m convinced it’s a sick group. One lucky hit (the rathergate thing) does not a journalist make. But he’s got his Manson-like group going on.

To be fair, I was quoting Windybon, but I have called Obama and his ‘Ilsa, She-Wolf of the SS’ wifey effing ingrates, so the sentiment is mine, too. I will never forget Worf’s ‘I have never been proud on my country until my commie hubby started running for the uber-kewl dude-in-chief’s job’ comment. I mean, the bitch is complainin’ and she had a $300,000 no-show job at a Chicago hospital, thanks to an 112% salary hike due to Illinois state senate funding her Teleprompter Man pushed? Talk about chutzpah with a heavy dose of ingratitude!

And I still mant the Fellatio Media to question why this oh, so smart couple lost their law licences. Kinda kills the whole ‘we’re so smart’ meme, doncha think?

Yes. She to stave off an investigation into her hospital raise/Obama’s funding, that is to say, corruption. He for lying on his bar application regarding the ‘have you ever had another name?’ question. He said no, but in one of his fictional autobiographies (John Jakes would be so proud), with his name on the cover as the author, he states otherwise.

    melinwy, vapig, et.al.,

    I’ve posted this link before.

    ADRC Search results

Clicking on ‘Illinois’ as the state for all searches, type in Barack Obama. Look at the results. Type in Michelle Obama. Look at the results. Type in Roland Burris. Look at the results. Compare and contrast.

But it’s not important as the oh, so smart, sexy couple in the White house are cool. They may be a fraud, but they are cool. That’s all that matters with a willing (or not — and I’m not buying that) state-run media. In my mind, though, the First Couple preen themselves as the Ivy elite they are, while being thuggish, ghetto corruption which the 52%ers wish to emulate. We’ve seen it before in Detroit and Baltimore, DC, not to mention Chicago. But now DC/Chicago minority politics is national, not just local, like with Marion ‘Crackhead’ Barry being relected mayor in DC; now we have a crackhead for a Precedent.

STOP CALLING HIM AN APOLOGIST FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING HOLY AND JUST LOOK UP THE WORD IN THE DICTIONARY!

Goodness! He’s an apologizer, not an apologist. An apologist DEFENDS AN IDEA FROM CRITICISM BY USING ARGUMENT. An apologist is NOT apologizing for something; he’s pointing out what is RIGHT about the thing that is under attack.

If Obama is an apologist it’s for the MUSLIM WORLD, which makes sense, since President Hussein is the first muslim president, elected by traitors who hate their country in the immediate wake of 9-11.

  123. hoodaticus
    125 | June 6, 2009 3:25 pm

Obama feels for the muslim world the same way that we do about Israel. But his feelings are wrong, and it is immoral that they are so.

The only thing I expect of Obama and the Democrats is that arrogance on their lips and the treason in their hearts. They would sacrifice every life in America to feed their egos, their gods.
