I saw that. It’s nice to see the comment register on the sidebar restored.

    Annie,

I left CA 3 years ago and haven’t followed what is going on there since I left.

So what is up with that?

Hey, I have been to Amsterdam, of course it was before Darth Vader.

Our crazy cab driver would drive on the sidewalk to get around traffic, that kinda freaked my mom and dad out.

I have no caption for that.

Bar, that tripped me out too. Bikes have the right of way. Then pedestrians, then cars.

Were you in one of the mini cab thingies? lol

Some of the cars looked like toys.

Whatever the picture or video is, it’s not showing up for me. It is, but I mean, it’s distorted to the point that I can’t make out what it is; the image is very, very narrow. (I am using Fire Fox, if that matters.)

I like the numbers next to the posts.

  29. 29 | March 8, 2009 8:14 pm

n2l, I was born in Texas, does that count for anything?!

Especially the mini-dump truck clean up crews. They looked like little Tonka trucks!

P.S. I did the “view image” thing when I right clicked on the image, and from that, I could see that it’s a statue of Darth Vader.

Check out Pink ‘Hello Kitty’ Darth Vader

Or try going to Google Images and doing a search for “Pink Darth Vader,” and you can find that same image.

Are the canals still green and most of the really old building still leaning badly?

Did you go to the Tivoli amusement park in Copenhagen?

We went to a theater in Copenhagen and saw the American movie Car Wash, it was in English with Dutch subtitles, funny stuff.

The photos and videos in other threads are showing up okay for me.

I took a screen shot of what this blog entry looks like so you can see, too. It’s hosted on Image Shack here.

(BTW, can users like me use the “img” tag in our posts, will they show up, or are they prohibited?)

    #37 Arwyn-
Ah okay, guy in costume, not a statue.

When I clicked on the Bat Man link you gave me, I got a page that says,

  50. 50 | March 8, 2009 9:05 pm

Cloudy, I think we all got the “exceeded it’s cpu quota” thingie for a minute. Hopefully that was just because I uploaded a bunch of those pictures and not something weird. I know Savage has plenty in his quota, lol.

    51 | March 8, 2009 9:24 pm

Arwyn, you were asking me in another thread if I could try re-freshing my browser to see if that would work.

I tried that, and I tried clearing my cache and then reloading, and the Darth Vader image is still not showing up correctly.

Maybe the “width” attribute is just typed in wrong?

Say, if the image is supposed to be 425 pixels wide, maybe you accidentally typed in “25″ or something?

Or, if it’s in a “div” tag, maybe the wrong width was given to the “div” tag?

  52. 52 | March 8, 2009 9:52 pm

Cloudy, I was asking to refresh after I had deactivated a new picture plugin that was added last night.

If it’s still happening, it isn’t that.

But in my firefox it looks fine. And the image is width=”527″ height=”395″ with no div tags at all. Just p align center.

It’s got me perplexed I tells ya. lol

But it’s almost 1 am, I might be looking right over something.

Is Anne Frank’s house really barricaded with cement barriers? If so, that is SO SAD! That’s what it looked like from your photo.

That is just part of the outside wall. I believe it can be raised and offer a view inside when needed.

    53. Former LGF’er

What they call the “Anne Frank house” was actually the building where her father’s business was located. They hid out in a secret annex in the building that was accessible by a hidden door behind a bookcase.

All of the rooms had quotes from Anne’s diary painted on the walls.

Like one was something to the effect of “I read in the papers today that they are gassing the Jews”. I can’t remember the quote exactly and they wouldn’t allow cameras in, but reading the words in the place they were written was wonderfully terrible (if that makes any sense).

They had even preserved a wall where Anne had pasted pictures out of magazines to make the view beautiful. It was heart wrenching.
