Obama to end ‘embargo’ on Embryonic Stem Cell Research

In this story from US News, we find out that the chosen one, President Obama, has decided to lift the ‘embargo’ on Embryonic Stem Cell Research.  In truth, there is no ban on it.

Embryonic Stem Cell research is just not available for public funding, one of the wise moves by the previous administration.  However, Embryonic Stem Cell research does not yield ANY of the positive results that other types of stem cell research (like adult stem cell or umbilical cord stem cell) have shown over the past decade.  As such, it can’t draw any private funding.  No one wants to invest their money in something that doesn’t work, except the federal government (but then, that isn’t the government’s money anyway, it is ours…).  Meanwhile, Adult and Umbilical stem cell research gets loads of private funding.

President Obama plans on not only letting Embryonic stem cell research (stem cells that can only be taken from a living growing unborn human baby) get federal funding, but also get money from the stimulus package.  But it isn’t like they cause CANCER or anything like that….. oh, wait.

That’s hope and change for you.

    Savage–

I put a note for you over on the Limbaugh thread — don’t know if it will help, but it might

Obama is just keeping his campaign promises — and this was one of them

Too few people are aware of the results from adult stem cells because the media does not want people aware

I saw that comment Child of Mary and I wanted to thank you for that.

I’m not gonna force Mom to do anything. It’s all up to her. But she does want to be buried next to my father.

Those 2 were married 48 years. Mom and Dad never even looked at anyone else. :)

B-HO remains true to his beliefs.

Obama nominated Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as HHS secretary. She supports Dr. George Tiller the late term baby killer.

And now Obama promotes embryonic stem cell research.

Sigh… If nothing else Barack is staight-up in your face about where he stands on these controversial culture war issues.

    B-HO is descending.
Will it be as meteoric and mysterious as his ascension? Doubtful.
For us, it will be slow and painful.

Barack Obama ‘too tired’ to give proper welcome to Gordon Brown.
    Telegraph.

British diplomats insist the visit was a success, with officials getting the chance to develop closer links with Mr Obama’s aides. They point out that the president has agreed to meet the prime minister for further one-to-one talks in London later this month, ahead of the G20 summit on April 2.

But they concede that the mood music of the event was at times strained.

    Ha!
I know that mood music, it’s called I’m Soooooooo Tired!

This Obama-Brown thing has some entertainment value, but for diplomatic boo-boos, nothing beats Boris Yelsin’s 1994 too-drunk-to-get-off-the-plane-hangover. Left the Irish Prime Minister standing on the tarmac. Tee hee hee.

The leftist meme that social conservatives are “anti-science” began in earnest with this issue. You will notice that in order to make their “argument,” the Left fails to make distinctions. A decision by Bush to limit federal support of embryonic stem cell research was promoted as a BAN on ALL stem cell research. As Child of Mary has pointed out, a cooperative media kept the people uninformed and misled.

Avoiding definitions and distinctions, strictly limiting information, setting up strawmen, ridiculing opponents, and chanting mantras of demonization (racist, hater, bigot, fascist, homophobe, Islamophobe, xenophobe, extremist, etc. etc.)is standard procedure for the left. With stem cell research & cloning, with AGWarming, with “creationism,” the mantra is ANTI-SCIENCE. All good leftists get in line and chant, chant, chant.

BuddyG— Yeah, but I would argue that, as long as you are genuinely funny, it’s never a TOTAL screw-up! A good laugh is worth something!

For B. Hussein it’s anything that will facilitate infanticide from an egg to a botched abortion.

Catholic hospitals might close their doors over FOCA.

    No2l
I grew up in St.Louis. The Catholic church is very prominent there. In fact nearly every Friday we ate at a church fish fry and we were not Catholic! There is a huge democratic base in St.Louis and the Catholic communities support it, for largely other reasons. I think these community stances have come back to haunt them. St. Louis politics are similar to Chicago in that there is a lot of support due to the unions. I say close the Catholic hospitals. It’s sad because many people unable to pay are cared for by the Catholic church. It’s something they have been very good at doing for centuries and probably has done a better job than universal health care ever will.

Speaking of Obama, recent headlines in the news include:

[Obama says] US ‘not winning in Afghanistan’ (from BBC News)
    and
Obama considers reaching out to Taliban

I made the mistake of listening to the first part of the TV news today. They reported that Obama was lifting the “ban” on embryonic stem-cell research and then had a story about a local guy with Lou Gehrig’s disease who was so happy about it. They assume there was a BAN, they assume that EMBRYONIC cell research has shown progress, they assume the people who are against it are against sick people. IT DRIVES ME CRAZY !!!!
