Two Cornell Students Charged for Vandalism of Gaza Flag Display

According to the Cornell Daily Sun, two students have been charged by the Cornell Police for their involvement in vandalizing a display on the Arts Quad meant to inform passersby about the recent violence in the Gaza Strip.

Gee, I don’t think changing the black flag of Gaza into a Star of David constitutes vandalism, it’s more like the fine work of a landscape architect turning a pile of shit into a rose garden.

All hail the ‘vandals’. :)

“Go do your homework!” onlookers shouted, as a dozen students gathered on the Arts Quad yesterday morning to revive what remained of a display of black flags protesting the war in Gaza. Hours before, passersby were startled to find that a number of the black flags that originally lined the Arts Quad Monday morning had been rearranged to form a Star of David — the symbol of Jewish identity.

Boo hoo! Here is the rest of the story

The Palis need to STFU.

Savage did you ever see this:

Moslems freaking out while College Republicans stand on the Hamas flag.

Listen to what the Moslems have to say, only college educated people could be that stupid.

Let’s learn a bit about “The Islamic Alliance For Justice” (http://www.rso.cornell.edu/iaj/)

They are against Student resolutions against Iran building a nuclear bomb because it “1 – It criminalizes and alienates members of the Cornell community.
2 – The views presented in the resolution are by no means universally held by the Cornell student body.
3 – International political issues such as these are not within the scope of the Cornell University Student Assembly charter or purpose.” (see above link)

Here you can look at their constitution (http://www.rso.cornell.edu/iaj/about.html) I wonder if it is like Hamas’

They have discussions about the elections in Israel (and some place called “palestine” which neither exists nor has elections) that don’t include any Jewish groups. (http://www.rso.cornell.edu/iaj/events.html)

And here is their “board”. (http://www.rso.cornell.edu/iaj/officers.html)
I am sure a web search of these people would be interesting.

    From the Article:

“Yesterday, however, Malik and other concerned students spent the morning undoing the vandalism by constructing the remaining flags into a peace sign.”

Are they trying to say that the dead Phakestinianites from Operation Cast Lead have created peace?

    Maybe we actually agree.

“Fil Eden ’10 accompanied those constructing the peace sign, a symbol he said they chose in order to take a neutral stance on a polarizing issue.”

I am still mystified as to what a “neutral” stance between Hamas and Israel could be. Is this like a “neutral” stance between Al Qaeda and us? Stalin and the kulaks? Hitler and the Jews?
There are some conflicts where a “neutral” stance is impossible.

Wrath— That statement that “international issues are not within the scope of the Cornell University Student Assembly charter or purpose” is hilarious, considering their discussions of Israeli elections and their little flag display.
How can people say these things with a straight face?

If anyone here still has an account at LGF1.0, I think if you wanted to have a bit of harmless fun there, you could post stuff like this:
Kindle, schmindle…I’ve got your $350 e-book reader right here

    Here are some excerpts:

With all the buzz about Amazon’s new Kindle 2, you’d think this revamped e-book reader was the most advanced piece of technology this side of designer babies. After all, for $359, you get a color screen, Wi-Fi and Web browsing, video playback, 60GB of storage, and a reasonably usable keyboard.

Oh wait, you don’t get any of that stuff. No, that’s what $350 can get you if invested in even a low-end Netbook, such as the new 10-inch Acer Aspire One. Not only is there a wide range of PC software available for buying and displaying e-books (and tons of free content as well), when you’re done with all that highbrow readin’, pop open a Web browser and rot your brain with some Hulu videos.

Unlike the closed-loop system on the Kindle (it generally only works with e-books from Amazon, and Amazon e-books only work on the Kindle and the related iPhone app — although there are some Kindle conversion tools out there, and Amazon will convert your personal docs for Kindle use at 10-cents a pop), at least you have a variety of different software and content provider options with my proposed $350 Kindle alternative.

As for the blog entry’s main topic,

…a number of the black flags that originally lined the Arts Quad Monday morning had been rearranged to form a Star of David — the symbol of Jewish identity.

Whoever did it had a sense of humor.

That’s better than what Palis and other disgruntled Muslims do to Israeli and American flags (stomp on them, burn them).

    Anastasia,

You are correct. The irony of stating that being anti-nuclear Iran is out of the purview of the school, but being Pro-Hamas/Phakestinianites isn’t, is thick.

I would presume that being against a Country whose leaders scream “Death To America”, getting nukes is a bit more a school issue (that school IS in America, isn’t it) than the election in imaginary “palestine”.

The automatic assumption that “Zionists” (as the Islamist called them) or someone who was Anti-Phakestinianite changed the formation of the flags is telling. There is no evidence to this effect. Placing the flags representing dead _______ (Hamas fighters?/PLO fighters?) in the shape of The “Star of David” could have very easily been done by a Jew Hater trying to tie Judaism to their death, etc. From the information we have now, this entire event could just be a Pallywood Propaganda Production to give the Islamists publicity, and victim hood.

Its blame the Jews first….then ask questions I guess.

    Wrath,

Excellent point about the ASSUMPTION that anti-Palis did this.

I have to say that if I were to ‘vandalize’ their little display, it would never even occur to me to use a Star of David—and in the unlikely event that it DID occur to me, I’d reject it for the very reason you mention.
Something smells a little fishy about this.

It was a prank and did no damage. Ont he contrary, it’s rather amusing!

What a bunch of waa waa’s the Pali supporters are.

Eh, I don’t know that I approve of the rearrangement of the flags….. it wasn’t their display and we’d all be shouting foul if someone changed an arrangement of the US flags into the shape of a crescent.
