Doesn’t the Washington Times know that the “wedge document” from the think-tank Discovery Institute is the “real” danger to America, not Islamic think-tankers under a terrorism investigation.

Hi, I just thought I’d pop in and say hello. I have no idea if this is the right place to say it, but what the hey, it’s an open thread.

I was a new member at LGF. I got banned. The reason I got banned is because, after taking the time to actually read some of these threads about “fascism” I got a very distinct reminder of the attitude shown by certain, ahem, people after the toxteth riots. The blind, violent urge to lay into a hated group was all that was driving them, and it seemed and felt to me that it was all that was driving the LGF mob.

Anyone old enough to remember those riots? Well it doesn’t matter if you do or not. They were messy, and they were caused by all sorts of stupidity, but during and after that some real fascist types, real racists, took the opportunity to lay into the people they hated. Including me. I pointed out that this is how the comments on LGF felt and I was banned for it, and then they started linking me to someone called “lionheart” who is apparently one of their bugbears. You know, because I’m from “england”. By the end of the thread it seemed like I was a white nazi racist immigrant hater.

I have no opinion one way or the other on these supposedly fascist parties, though they seem awfully similar to the campaign for an english parliament – of which I’m a member and occasional campaigner. I suppose that makes me an english nationalist. hey perhaps I can join the nazis too, right? I mean, sure, I’m black, but what the hey they’ll take me because I’m a fascist! Charles Johnson said so!

Sorry. It just got to me. It really did. I can’t believe I ever trusted anything from that site.

Back to the real world. So long, fellow banned. Enjoy tweaking the dragon’s tail.

Here in Minneapolis I remember quite a while ago, back in the late 80s I was walking around shopping over by the University of Minnesota, when I came face to face with this Arab looking guy. He like got right in front of me as if he was going to say something to me and sort of seemed to be following/watching me, but ended up just staring at me for awhile and left. I noticed his shirt had symbols & Arabic writing on it, it looked very similar to like what Hizbullah/Hamas/Infitada groups use. I was wearing a Army surplus coat and had a flattop haircut at the time, which probably made him think I was military. Haha. He looked like he wanted to attack me, I could literally feel the hate oozing from him, his eyes carried a look I don’t think I’ll forget as long as I live. Considering the fact he was only about 5′ 6″ to 5′ 7″ in height and quite slight in build…and me being 6′ 4″ 230 probably scared him from getting into it with me. Thinking back about it I can say I really came face to face with a Jihadist type. Quite bizzare.

I do not smoke or want others to smoke or be around it at all. But this how usually all fascist movements start, banning something in the name of the good, only to slowly begin to turn on religious, political expressions as well.

Ed at #1 said:

“Just couldn’t resist the urge to take a whiz on the biggest liar left in the guano filled cave of blind lizards…”

Regarding RealWest, I would like to briefly note my experience with him, having never done so:

RealWest doesn’t seem like a bad guy, though a bit of a follower. But not a jerk. I have no beef with him per se. However, it took Charles to note something that added perspective to my decidedly negative opinion of him.

Charles felt compelled to comment, as was described on an LGF2 thread yesterday (please forgive my lack of specifics – I don’t remember which thread exactly it was), that RealWest had badly mangled the specifics of a certain interaction – enough so that RealWest’s story was grossly inaccurate and needed correction by Charles on LGF.

This rang a bell with me. I publish this only because it speaks directly to the recent comments about RealWest, and because it still irks me when I occasionally remember it.

My RealWest experience was that I had the occasion some years ago to have a phone conversation with him, for reasons not necessary to go into and which conversation was a one-time-only thing, having been asked by another LGFer to call RealWest about something that concerned a mutual acquaintance of ours. I had not had any interaction with him before this point that I recall on LGF, and certainly not otherwise.

During this conversation, RealWest for some reason made a point (to a stranger) of noting his physical handicaps, his medications, and how incapacitated he was, to the point that he had a hard time getting to the mailbox. Again, no problem. I have sympathy for anyone with handicaps, as I have had my own struggles.

But here’s what got me, and the only reason I would publish these details: Maybe a year after our conversation, another LGF poster, with whom I had occasional e-mail contact, forwarded to me an e-mail from RealWest to her, which recounted our phone conversation, and wanted to know if it was accurate.

I was shocked, when I read the e-mail, how totally inaccurate and decidedly derogatory of me it was. My memory of speaking with RealWest was clear as a bell, and the conversation bore little resemblance to RealWest’s account. Indeed, RealWest had taken nearly every aspect of the conversation as a discrete part, and turned it around to reflect negatively on me.

This was done to such an notably egregious extent that I immediately concluded that either one of two things was true:

1. RealWest was severely addled or senile to the point where he could not come up with a transcript of our call that came even close to the actual conversation

or

2. RealWest intentionally misreported the conversation, as every error in his recounting fell to the detriment of my character.

If the former reason applies, I am sorry about his condition, and wish him well. If the latter applies, then he has no scruples and can go to hell.

Yes Lance, he did the same thing to me in the e-mail to my acquaintance (though he didn’t have the whatever to ridicule me on the phone). Ridiculed me for knowing and exercising my 2nd-amendment rights.

I hope he doesn’t travel far outside of Charlotte, NC (where he said he moved to), or he may need his heart medicine!

cane_loader,

I have a realwest story for you. I tried to help him move from NYC to Charlotte and the dude was being really evasive. I also was in Charlotte and the guy never showed up to have lunch with me. Some lame excuse about doctors visits and the like.

One thing really bugs me about his story about his ‘dad’ running into the Twin Towers as a firefighter. Realwest fought in Vietnam in the late 60’s or early 70’s. If this is true, then he has to be in his 60’s at the minimum and if his dad was on the NYFD, then he had to have been the oldest firefighter in the history of the NYFD. sheesh!

32. cane_loader on 20 November, 2008 at 5:12 pm  reply

savage,

Well, I don’t know enough about his medical condition to comment. As of 2005, he was having trouble getting to the elevator to go down to his mailbox in the lobby of his NY apartment.

Again, having and still fighting many physical ailments myself, I’m not inclined to judge.

However, he was really out there when I talked to him, and ridiculed me when I tried to talk sense to him.

The unreal e-mail to a friend really did blow my mind, as, again, he was either mentally incompetent, or a really bold liar.

Don’t know anything about the 9/11 thing (must have missed that), but it seems we are speaking of the same problem, no?

Hmmm…. Funny how I have encountered several LGF people who are really evasive when it comes to the life facts they have published on LGF. Unfortunately, I’ve come to the conclusion that many more people than I’d like to think have been/are using the anonymity of the Internet to flat-out lie about who they are. Not that one should publish all one’s personal info – just that one shouldn’t publish false info. I don’t believe that the “false witness” commandment stops where the Internet begins. Guess I’m old-fashioned.

This is sad and vexing, but illustrative of human nature.

It seems we bring our character flaw, as a species, into everything we touch.

36. cane_loader on 20 November, 2008 at 5:24 pm  reply

savage,

You know, the reason why I talk about this stuff is simple.
I hate liars. Not just their lies – but I hate the liars. I know I’m not supposed to hate people; however, I do believe that everyone has a conscience, and makes a choice to lie. I believe that lying is the cause of most of the world’s troubles. So I hate liars.

So the reason why I talk about people like Charles Johnson and realwest is that once someone has proven to me that they are a liar, I pray for their downfall. This is because liars lead others astray, and block the spread of truth and goodness. Hokey, but this is what I believe.

To reiterate, I’m not sure if realwest isn’t just mentally ill. However, the way he meticulously changed our conversation to reflect ill of me at every turn, seemed intentional.

If so, men of bad faith should burn.

I withhold judgment, yet pray that divine judgment is vigilant and true.
